  5. How can you even judge FTP transition to be "better than expected" after one week? What are metrics that you are seeing? Or are you doing it by the seat of your pants feel? FTP players can't post, so you are not getting their feedback. Sure, people flooded in on the first days of FTP, it is expected. The purpose of moving to FTP was to retain and gain new subscriptions. And realistically you can only judge if it worked at least six months from now. If I were an FTP player, who came to try this game I would not subscribe. The restrictions on the FTP people are idiotic. FTP people are not competitive unless they pay, and they have to pay for virtually everything. So in essence what EA is telling them is: subscribe, or suck. Playing through story mode with no gear, no credits, no PvP is masochistic.
  6. This would NOT work in TOR. It worked in SWG, but it started failing with introduction of Kash and Mustafar. Having separate instances and hundreds of "loading" areas eliminates any possibility of player bounty system. Your target cannot be located in: ships, WZ, hangars, flashpoints, instances, class areas, elevators, ship loading screens, instances that are full etc. BH system worked in great SWG prior to the Kash and Mustafar. It worked good, but even then people would hide in houses, grind with pocket house, and try to shuttle/planet hop and log out. In TOR it simple DOES NOT WORK.
  7. I was in beta, I brought this up; so did many other players. Fan boys were up in arms against ANY criticism of the worlds, and Bioware did not listen. Having 100% static worlds with no D/N cycle, no weather, no dynamism was a suicide for a long term prospect of this game. It is a theme park MMO, but it didn't mean that they couldn't make worlds unique and dynamic. For example, on the Sith side they could add an invasion on Hutta by Cartel Gangsters. All characters on the Sith side get the message that invasion is taking place, come defend it and get a title/loot. Simple and clean. What you have instead is ME+ WOW. You can play TOR 1-50 and get the top gear without EVER interacting with other people. Run through class story, PvP and get WH gear, no talking involved, no point in ever leaving the space station after level 50. Sound like fun game design?
  8. As a tank ST he is useless to me in combat, makes for a great fleet toy though. Fully geared Mako is my companion of choice, she is a better healer than 50% of hears on my server. However, I do hope that once level cap goes up, or when they add more class story missions you get to play with all of your crew. As a BH I had a mission when I got all of my companions fighting together, and that was awesome. I hope to do that once more with HK.
  9. Incorrect. With 1/2 of the team being healers you can only win IF you cap both nodes first and hold them. In the situation where you don't do that, you can't retake the node as you only have four functioning DPS players. Four healers with 500k healing each, means that they did almost 0 for damage. Great for holding points, pointless for trying to take them.
  10. Man, this is a sad thread. I remember the promise and excitement in the air when CE pre-order was announced. I remember people arguing over how awesome and exclusive the lounge will be. Such a disappointment. Now we get grab bags and cash shop. SWTOR Trading Card game will be patched in soon after. TOR is heading in the same direction and E and B.
  11. I played ST spec since December 2011. It is a viable PvP spec, but it takes a lot of practice to play right. 1v1, this spec is absolutely worthless. You have no burst DPS at all, and almost every class with exception of DPS Mercenary and Commando will murder you. Healers will just LOL-heal your damage. If you want to see the big numbers over enemy heads, this is not the class for you. Damage of ST spec is abysmal. In group PvP is where ST shines. I always take control of the turrets/objectives and guard them. It takes a long time for anyone to kill me with 24k health and 1250 expertise; and while they are killing me, I can call in back up and save the point. In mass combat situation, I guard the healer, fire my taunt darts at enemy DPS characters, and disrupt the enemy healers with quell, stun dart, and carbonize. When paired with good healer I can tank four people consistently. As far as abilities go, this class is very fun to play. I really enjoy it. You have pull, jet charge, carbonize, flame sweep, DFA, guard, taunt darts, rocket punch, unload, and flame thrower. In Huttball I can play Tim Teebow on steroids when there is a good healer and off-tank present. I can walk the ball into the end-zone while being pummeled by all eight enemy players. For the build, I have 32/7/2. All of my augments are Reflex Augments +12 Endurance, +18 Aim. That being said, give the class a try. Find yourself a healer, team up with him and play for objectives. I find playing ST very fun and rewarding. I haven't switched my spec once, even though my guild mates asked me to go DPS countless times.
  12. My tribute to SWTOR, shows the gameplay very well and I believe captured the essence of the game completely. As I looked through my screenshots the reality of the game became very clear, 1-50 game was absolutely amazing. New planets, new creatures, amazing story. Very engaging and beautiful. It is reflected beautifully through the video. After level 50, the amazing game we had prior to 50 stops and disappears completely. If you are on PvE server, you raid. If you are on PvP server as I was, you engage in endless warzone skirmishes. I was amazed that I had very few good screenshots post level 50. Almost all of my screenshots after 50 were from warzones or from imperial fleet. When I watched the video, it truly showed the essence of TOR. Leveling and story are absolutely amazing and engaging. End game is a huge letdown. SWTOR 1-50 and 50+ are two completely different games. 1-50 is an amazing theme park with interesting worlds and captivating story. 50+ is a mindless grind with no story, no engagement; just hours spent at the keyboard. Server merges reflect the issue that myself and many other players had. Mindless grind post level 50 does not constitute end game. On Port Nowhere we had 20 active PvPer prior to the merge, all we did was stand on fleet and wait for WZ queues. Nobody bothered with Ilum, it was pointless. New players who just reached 50 were assaulted and vanquished in seconds in any PvP encounter they entered; so they faced a very long, and very slow expertise grind. My subscription expires on 15 of July, I wish all of the remaining players well and I hope you all keep enjoying the game. Caesarus's SWTOR Tribute.
  13. You got 14k health, you should not be allowed to speak.
  14. With majority of servers tittering on the brink of extinction, I came up with an amazing solution how to resolve the issue without transfers. Most people don't want to re-roll as they have their beloved characters, so they cry; care-bear behavior is prevalent among MMO players. My solution will solve both server population issue, transfer issues and re-roll issues. Starting with patch 1.3.1 all servers with light population are switched to FFA PvP "Highlander" style. All areas of the server become PvP enabled, everyone is PvP active. Perma-death is enabled on all servers. As soon as your character is defeated by another player, or group of players- your character is gone. Your money and gear are transferred to the person who did the most damage to you. Now to continue playing you must re-roll on one of the populated server, since you got no more beloved character to cry about. PvP continues on the low population servers, until there is 1 player left standing. He receives full legacy unlock and a title of "Praetor of (whichever server he dominated)". He is given a free transfer to ANY populated server of his choice. He gets to keep the money and gear he obtained during the FFA melee on his server. When Praetors from all low-population servers are transferred, you have no more dead servers. Few quirks. Some wussies might try to not log-in during the FFA period, their characters will be "killed" 48 hours after FFA period is enabled. Players who try to hide in instances and ships will be automatically moved to the area with active players after 10 minutes of being in-game. Great success!
  15. Follow the thread from post one, and see how your logic fails. Two, if you have an active subscription you don't ask about resubscribing. Reinstating the game takes less than one hour. I rest my case.
  16. That is the point. If you have an active account, why ask those questions ? Does he want us to convince him it is "safe" to resubscribe ? It is safe for me, not safe for him.
  17. I brought the issue of complete lack of replay-ability of planets back in CB. I said that there was absolutely not reason for people to ever come back to Coruscant/Kaas or any other planet they visited. Fleet is a horrible excuse for a hub city. It is a copy/paste job, as fleets for both factions are mirrors of each other. I propose that fleets be decommissioned, entirely. Make factional capitals into the activity hubs. As far as planets go, same issue as Kaas/Coruscant. Once you are "done" with your story on any planet, you have no reasons to return to it. I propose the planet-wide world events that happen randomly (Rift like). Example- Republic troopers invade Korriban, or Asteroid collapses on Voss and requires retrieval. This way people will have some reason to come back and adventure on the planets other than "fleet".
  18. Yep, % difference between speeders is so insignificant that it takes 5 minutes for a L3 speeder to pull 50 meters away from L1 speeder. Chasing newbies on Tatooine in my L3 is an antithesis of "Bullit" car chase.
  19. Anyone who has to do something called "work" for 8-10 hours a day, will not play in this idiotic system. By the time you CAN get BM gear you played 100s of WZ. Now to get that gear you have to force yourself to play through same 3 maps over and over non-stop ? Horrible strategy Bioware.
  20. I haven't logged in the game for a week. BM grind is just stupid, and for a PvPer there is no reason to play at 50. 3 warzones are piss boring. I played them at least 200+ times by now. Ilum PvP is a *********** joke. I never saw a more pathetic attempt at PvP. 1 kill every 45 seconds, or every time grapple resets on your team. Horrible design. And if you get 20 v 20 going on Ilum, I have no idea what I am shooting most of the time. So /tab and spam area grenade. World PvP is not there. You have to scour the enemy areas to find that 1 person. Life as a PvPer at 50 involves: 1)Standing on the fleet, in queue for WZ. 2)Standing on Ilum, waiting for someone to be grappled. 3)Talking **** in /general on fleet. 4)/logout.
