  1. Maintenance mode in a modern MMO = death. You know this as a player. As soon as your content pipeline stops people leave for the next game. And that next big game is on the horizon.
  2. No need to explain and I didn't read the rest of your post. I didn't do it for you, I don't have a chip on my shoulder about how the man is screwing us all and I don't care about your POV to be honest. Bioware presents their customers with choices. I choose to support the game because I enjoyed it. Many others did as well and the game is now thriving. You can - and do apparently - resent that cosmetic items are purchased for RL money. I understand that and you've done all you can to voice your displeasure. My issue is that you are trying to shame people into seeing your POV. We are the bad guys because we got what we wanted in a system that you disagree with. Simply put the business model they are using works - and quite well it seems. If it doesn't work then it will change but I will not alter my own purchases because of other players opinions on how things should be. We aren't in those meetings, we don't get to decide policy we only get to react to it. As long as Bioware continues to put out a fun game with interesting ways to spend RL money they will continue to profit. As long as they offer me something I enjoy I will continue to pay for it. I will not feel badly about it. I will not feel guilty about it. I will instead be happy that in some way I'm investing in the future of my game. If the CM had failed it would have been game over for everyone and this would have suffered the same fate as Warhammer Online. Games do not get unlimited chances to reinvent themselves anymore.
  3. I think anyone that plays Warhammer Online would disagree with you about how EA treats IP's that are not performing very well. Nothing in my post was non factual. I know you have always hated this game, the direction the game has gone and one would only need to read your post history to see your disposition on the subject. The truth of the matter is that myself and others like me are keeping this game alive and I'm not unhappy about that. They didn't twist my arm, I wasn't scammed, I spend the money because I enjoy it- much like you enjoy posting negativity. It's not a charity for EA, they don't care about you as a person they make business decisions based on numbers and profitability. Since you still post here even if you hate it you have an interest in seeing the game continue. You can blame me and other like myself for having that opportunity today and into the future.
  4. I have a large amount of disposable income and I choose to spend it on items in this game that I enjoy. I also choose to support a game I like with a subscription and over $200 per month in cartel spending. I do this happily because I like the game. Some people drink, others go to casinos, I play MMO's. It's my hobby. I (and others like me) am totally to blame. I (and others like me) am the reason that this game is thriving and things are looking up for the future. Rather than being mostly left off the EA shareholder report as it had been in the past the game was a high note for the company talking about revenue growth and increased profit. I'm not sure if you are aware of this but profitable companies do not invest money in low revenue ventures. More cartel spending equal more development for the game. This is a positive sign if you enjoy SWTOR. So in essence I (and others like me) am to blame for your future content, the continued salaries and jobs for developers, and the all around good vibes and recovering PR for this game. I will never ask you to thank me either, but you can continue to blame me if you want.
  5. Nah most of us just got too tired of the forum and are playing the game more. I am not happy about the dye kits being RNG but I understand why they are. Thankfully I've already seen with the cartel market that within 2 days everything will be up there for reasonable prices. People undercut each other constantly.
  6. I'm totally with Tatile here. This website gets tons of traffic and just a dev post linking a site that has the interview would be a win for everyone. The webpage gets their hits and Bioware makes sure that the customers are informed. It seems ridiculous that this is not done.
  7. I stopped posting here because it's just about people that really hate this game and want to make sure that you do as well. I popped in today because of the announcement and I see nothing's changed. I don't really miss the forums either. I'll be in game enjoying it with everyone else on my constantly full server, please return to your SWTOR bashing. Cheers.
  8. You were still wrong then, and no matter what obscure wiki, comic book, or CGI show that got stale years ago depicts lightsabers have a white internal core. Star Wars is always going to be in the eye of the beholder. I do not accept most of the EU as anything other than a way for them to make money and nothing there (like the terrible books released before the Thawn trilogy) really matters. Yes its cool if you know useless lore but the movies are still the holy grail and it looks like their going to be expanded on. After that it's pick and choose what you want really.
  9. I actually ignored it because that's a kindergarten argument to be honest. We suggest things, Bioware decides if they implement them. To be honest my post isn't meant for any of you, but to get visibility on something I want. And in that respect every time you argue with it the goal is achieved. None of us will be making any decisions on this.
  10. A slippery slope? Queue the overly dramatic music and over the top reactions. No, I can't see the validity of what you are saying because you are taking it way further than it really is. I'm taking about the inner core color of a lightsaber. I'm talking about keeping with the tradition of the movies for those interested in that sort of thing. I'm not discussing changing your character appearance or any other items about your character. In fact you'd never know anyway. If that bothers you... I think there might be other issues there. It would be nice in star wars if lightsabers looked like lightsabers. At least give us a chance to have it reinforced visually when we hear the snap-hiss of a lightsaber that it's star wars, not some random MMO in space with multicolored glow bats.
  11. Good stuff. They have reignited my hopes for a JTL based space sim.
  12. I don't think that's unreasonable. We are their customers. Asking for a choice is fine, defining why I feel it's warranted is fine. If they choose to ignore it... that's fine too. I'm sure that no one there is taking this request nearly as personally as you seem to be however. As an individual I'm not important but games aren't created in a vacuum. If you make a game that doesn't appeal to a wide audience in the MMO space you'll fail. I understand the need for the dark/color cored sabers to give them something to 'sell' to a more diverse crowd and there are people that love them. I really don't like them at all and I'm not alone. I'm proposing a solution to the issue that also raises revenue and provides both camps something they want. Everyone wins like that. In business you need to show the cost effectiveness of a project to get it approved, I deal with this on a daily basis in my own work. I also have experience coding and I can tell you the resources to get this completed are minimal. Still you've made it clear you aren't a supporter of it because of 'artistic' right and I respect that because it's your opinion. But that doesn't invalidate the idea for the toggle in the least.
  13. Weird I thought that was how it worked on this forum. I have made posts before that are entirely factual with the most accurate numbers available see here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=547927 and I'm told that people know more based on their 'gut' since data has no meaning. Had I just put in my post at the beginning that I believe no more than 100k people play this game and it's going to die so they better add this fast I'm sure I would have had a much more positive response from the people here. (Sarcasm, but the reaction would be true) I am willing to conclude based on everything I've observed in my life that saying only 25% of people that read something are completely clueless to what it actually means is being generous.
  14. No, are a definitely part of #4 on that list. But either way thanks for the bump.
  15. There are 4 opinions here. 1. Some people agree that a toggle option would be nice to have. 2. Some of the people reading this thread do not have the reading comprehension to realize this is talking about the internal part of the saber core. Their posts are amusing. 3. Some people are insulted to know that if this were ever implemented that they wouldn't be able to force you to see their chosen black core saber. 4. A few people are trying to argue over what is or isn't another fan's preference for a lightsaber appearance in spite of the movie definitions and are prepared to go to extreme lengths to try to prove that anyone that doesn't like the black/or colored core option should just get over it. There's a really interesting dynamic here and all of it over a simple suggestion which would place the decision in the hands of the user. Apparently 2 of the opinions are afraid of what that would mean and want to restrict that choice. All of this over an appearance mod... To the point though threads like this and the debate they generate pretty much validate why the few rule the many in this world. In any debate at least 1/4 of the people participating don't understand the topic. Thankfully here Bioware is the few and we are the many. If they add the option based on this suggestion then you get more choices in your game play.
  16. You can't 'win' this because it's opinion based. Nothing you post will change my mind that in the movies, which I hold to be a true representation of the IP, the lightsaber has a white core. That's all I'm asking for, and I've laid out how it can be done and the potential money it will bring in since people that share my view aren't spending cartel points unlocking the 'special' crystals like the black/orange that is in the shop but we would pay for this option. If you prefer those other colors nothing changes for you, both camps are appeased and in some people's minds the game becomes more 'Star Warsy'. There really isn't a down side to this unless you just want to argue, and if so I don't mind the bumps for exposure to this thread. If you still can't accept that...
  17. I have no problems with this (I support your post) but if my thread is any indication, expect to be flamed heavily for requesting player choice in appearance.
  18. Lol I was going to ignore that post as the most off topic and longest I've seen in a while.
  19. That's just it though, I'm not saying they can't sell those other sabers and I'm fine with it. I'd like the OPTION to see a G-canon level sabers in the game. That would increase my own immersion (and I know I'm not the only one). That's all this is. It's been ridiculed by a select few people that take exception to that. No worries there, revenue generation is the bottom line here.
  20. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_canon Hardly. Please see the Holocron section. Lightsabers and what they are and are not are G canon. That's my view on it and it's completely justified by the supporting documentation. You can expand your own 'version' of what you want to consider official but I'm just going off what we've used for a long time to determine it.
  21. Client side appearance mods have never been an issue in other games, and they will be popular once available here. No worries.
  22. This isn't true. A black/orange crystal is available on the cartel market right now.
  23. I'm still just fascinated how a request like this hits such a nerve with some of you. And I certainly appreciate the bumping and arguing as it makes the issue even more visible to the people that might act on it. One thing you are not considering is revenue. Myself I'll never pay for any crystal that does not have a white inner core for reasons I've mentioned. However I would give them money to "unlock" this toggle ability. Revenue is the mightiest of motivators. That's why the black cores are here, that's why the purple/pink are here to get you to purchase something. The reason they have black orange sabers now is to sell them to you, not because they care about the lore. Certainly if there is something that they can do that would take as little time as this that would potentially have a large revenue generation then they will consider it for that reason alone. But fear not, even if you oppose this your other color crystals aren't going away. They will continue to sell them to you and in the end all that matter is what you see on your screen. Once someone is able to crack the game files like we did in SWG I'll just make the client side conversion mod myself and host it anyway, but this is a way for the company to make money on it before it gets to that point.
