  1. Does this include the delay in jumping? Trying to get to datacrons that require jumping can be a real pain. Nothing like hitting the spacebar, then watching your character take another 5-6 steps and falling off of the box/pipe/ledge. Seriously... if this was a basketball MMO, I'd get called for traveling all the time.
  2. Let's say you have 4 guys looking to build a group. They will be solo questing to level up, getting together for GROUP and HEROIC quests, running FLASHPOINTS together, and participating in WARZONES together. Once they're level 50 and have some decent gear, they'll join up with others for regular OPERATION runs. We'd like to spread out the class buffs and minimize the gear competition between ourselves as well. Now, how would you build this group? I'm thinking that we would want two of the classes to be 1) Scoundrel/Operative in a heal spec and 2) Commando/Mercenary in a DPS spec. The Scoundrel/Operative would be able to keep the group alive while staying mobile and at range (out of the AoE) while the Commando/Mercenary would focus on dealing damage and providing back-up single-target heals in a pinch. As for the other two spots... which tank and DPS combo do we go with? Do we take the ranged damage and CC of a Sage/Sorcerer? If so, then we have a lot of CC, allowing us to single-target tank in a lot of situations. Do we go with a Guardian/Juggernaut in that role, or do we not worry about loot competition and take a Shadow/Assassin or Vanguard/Powertech? Or, do we take an Assassin/Shadow tank and fill out the group with another form of DPS, like a Sentinel/Marauder (or again, let loot competition not be a concern and take a Gunslinger/Sniper for the ranged DPS)? Or, do we dump the Scoundrel/Operative and Commando/Mercenary above and take a Sage/Sorcerer for all of our healing needs, grab more of an AoE tank in the Vanguard/Powertech, and load up on more pure DPS like the Gunslinger/Sniper and Sentinel/Marauder? Any help would be appreciated! Group Make-Up Ideas: 1) ??? (Tank) 2) Scoundrel/Operative (Main Heal, CC) 3) Commando/Mercenary (DPS, CC, Off-Heal) 4) ??? (DPS)
  3. So, if it's between the Mercenary and Sorcerer, which has the better crowd control and survivability?
  4. Sorry if I was unclear. I was thanking him for providing specific feedback on the questions I raised. If being grateful for quality feedback is new, then I hope it's something that catches on (though I have my doubts).
  5. Excellent response, Ethertrap. Thank you for laying out your points based on my criteria. Do you know how Merc CC stacks up to Sniper and/or Sorcerer? Or, to put it another way... 1 & 2. Mercenary, Sorcerer, or Sniper. 3. More so Mercenary and Sorcerer over Sniper. 4. ? 5. ? 6. Mercenary or Sorcerer. 7. More so Mercenary than Sorcerer. So, it really comes down to Crowd Control and Survivability in my choice between Mercenary and Sorcerer. Any other thoughts?
  6. OK, as the title states, I'm looking to pick my class. I have limited experience with all of the Empire side main classes, but not all of the Advanced Classes. Here are the things I'm looking for, in the priority I'm looking at them: 1. Empire side. 2. When I DPS, I would like that damage to be ranged damage. 3. I'd like to retain as much mobility as possible. I'd trade some DPS for mobility. 4. Good crowd control for PvE and PvP situations. I don't need to burst someone/something down if I can lock it up until help arrives or until I'm ready to deal with it on my own terms. 5. Along with mobility, anything else that adds to my survivability is a plus. 6. If I can respec into a Tank or Healer spec later, all the better. 7. I'd like to not be competing with everyone and their brothers for loot. I'd like to stay away from the over-represented classes if I can. However, if that's where I'll find what I'm most looking for, then that's what I'll roll. I know that everyone can DPS (to an extent, more so if specced for it) and everyone can solo their regular PvE quests (with more or less ease based on spec), so while those things are somewhat important, they're not real high on my radar. Any help --- which Advanced Class best fits the bill, a particular spec to use to accomplish most of the above, etc --- is appreciated!
  7. ...was getting in a guild. Having like-minded people to group with and help with quests has been a godsend. Sure, you can play most of this game solo with your companion, but to run PvE instances, do those Group quests, and rock it in PvP, having a go-to group of guys is paramount. Let's face it, random Pick-Up Groups are no fun.
  8. I wasn't really getting it earlier on in the game, but following the Dark Temple sniper class quest on Dromund Kass, when we got the activity with the "Dominator" being sabotaged, I started getting a whole Sean Connery as "Bond"/Bernard Lee as "M"/Lois Maxwell as "Moneypenny" vibe between my sniper, Keeper, and Watcher Two... especially since I tend to take the more smart-alec responses. Anyhow, great job! I'm totally digging and feeling like an agent now. I hope this is maintained over the rest of the game. Keep up the good work. Cipher Agent Mills
