  1. Having played a a few dps classes, I think that the assasin comes into its own late in levels. There are a few basic attacks and not hard of a rotation, but the main thing is keeping the various procs up (iin Decpetion) going. I was surprised at the amount of dps output my sin can do in deception. I tried the madness hybrid, and madness specs, but I think the deception is better suited to my playstyle. All in all tho, I had fuun trying out various stles and seeing what was effective. Madness does offer lots of mobility so that's where that spec shines. I levelled to 50 as a tank and decided to try out dps to help me complete dailies quicker. With some good gear, the sin usually has no problems unless I roll my face on the keyboard and hope that something hits. Give it a chance, I think you might be pleasantly surprised at the assasin's usefulness in various specs. When you see your backstab hit for 5-6k it may sway your mind
  2. Thanks Alb. Lots of good information, and I think you were very helpful in the sorc forums as well regarding BiS DG relics. Was a great thread but I also wanted to put it into assasin in case some peeps didn't like to read more than their class The debate over main stat and power is always hotly debated and for my sentinel I chose power augs all the way (PvE, but going to start parsing more in depth for PvP). As for my sage/assasin I will take your advice and go with the all out WP. The extra crit is something I find a bit more useful on my sin than my sentinel. As a cybertech I'm lucky to have been able to learn most of the various mods and I always go non-lettered mods. The only lettered mods I would use are for my tank classes.
  3. So reading from some of sorc forums, Ive read and understood that the BiS DG relic for sorc/sages was the elemental one (as well as for maras/sents). I was curious to know if anyone has confirmed the BiS DG relics for an assasin using Deception dps build? I am thinking its also elemental damage (since it procs off of force %age). Any info would be most appreciated. Edit: Also wanted to know whether or not to stack all power augments or a mix of half WP/half power or all out WP. On my sage I am all WP....not sure if its comparable due to being a melee.
  4. Whilst in Juyo form you are stacking DoTs on your target with overload saber. So then is it not better to hit cauterize AFTER you apply all three stacks of OS to your target and THEN use cauterize? Sort of off-topic but along the lines of the OP. Best time to use zen? Bfore or after cauterize?
  5. @Sankalp That makes much more sense. What I am aiming for is the ability to take not take very spikey damage. From my understanding sin tanks are avoidance tanks so wouldnt their defense be their most advantageous stat?. From what Im gathering about the the 30/50/60 is that they are taking the beating but mitigating it more than avoiding the chance they get hit in the first place. I'm still a newbie when it comes to sin tanks, so any advice is appreciated
  6. Is this for a sin/shadow tank? I know these numbers 30/50/60 are good for a guardian tank, but for a sin/shadow tank, its EASY to hit 50% shield chance. Those above #s dont sound the "best" for a sin tank. Unless you meant 30/60/50?
  7. Will be hitting 50 within a week or so, and wanted an idea of some basic stats? 1. I hear that sin/shadow tanks are avoidance tanks. I may be wrong, but my understanding of that is that def and absorption would be our primary stats. If that is true I would like to know what are some basic stats/ratings i should try to achieve with respect to defense, shield, and absorption. 2. Also, is accuracy even important for sin tanks? I ahve a guardian tank whose accuracy is ~90%. The tradeoff is getting higher accuracy is some amount of def/shield/abs so is there any value in accuracy?
  8. I am an almost full campaign + augmented (minus MH and legs) balance dps sage. My WP is 2109, power is 899. Of the 14 things I have augmented I have 4 thhing augmented with power and the rest (10) with WP augments. I'd like some info regarding whether or not it is better to beef up the power a little more or take out some power augs and put in even more WP ones. My force bonus dmg is: 964.5, crit rating (138) 32.70%, surge rating (228) 73.64%. I am not yet BiS in everything, my belt/bracers still need the 61 armorings and mods, I need the MH, legs, etc. The reason I ask this is because on my maxed sentinel I have focused on keeping strength right around 2000 and everything else power (while keeping all other stats where they roughly need to be), and was wondering whether or not I should do the same to my dps sage. I hear two versions. A guild sage who always puts up good #s prefers WP > Power. But I believe it to be the opposite. Can someone shed some light on this. Thanks
  9. Are these barrels RE'able? Any information available on that? I do know that to remove the barrel from Kashyyk's Legacy (mastercraft relfex barrel) it would cost approximately 174k. I'll let the more affluent members of the galaxy try their hand before I try mine
  10. /signed Eventhough WZs can be fun. I miss Open World PvP. Some of the battles that I wa fortunate to be part of were EPIC. And missing the Ettenmoors from LOTRO creates a gaping void that Ilum once filled
  11. Thanks for the info. Once again on Fleet last night someone was saying that he is getting the "20% chance to learn schematic" off BH armorings. I'll try earpieces for now and then wait till I get a HM armoring drop.
  12. Can the Black Hole gear be RE'd for armorings and mods by a cybertech? I've read and heard two diffferent things and dont want to spend 60 BH comms to find out that I cant. Any help would be appreciated
  13. I was wondering if anyone had a pic of their latest (as of July 2012) skill tree point assignments. I wasn't sure about whether to put points into making blaster whip +8% dmg or not. And if I hadn't, where would I put it. I do understand that BW is a primary mechanic for upper hand, so it made sense to me to add the points there. I'm just curious to see any other variations on the trees, If there were any good sawbones tree specs I would love those as well. Thanks!
  14. If they "fixed" the sound, then why do a majority of the players I come across still have no sound. I'm confused.... If I hadn't plufgged in my PC or deaf (like nomnom stated lol) I could understand. I could also understand if I was the only one with the issue. But what I fail to understand, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, is how can you NOT make it a priority to fix sound, when, like someone already pointed out, you put SO much money into voice acting and voice-overs, that you don't make sure that sound works. Just saying...
  15. It's great that there is a new major patch with a new planet, and new comps, and new content and blah blah. BUT where in this galaxy is my sound? I am unaware of other servers (I'm on Krayt Dragon), but I hear from more than a few guildies and other players alike that they lose sound quite often. Some have basically turned off sound, listen to music, etc. But when in a raid/op there are definite sound ques, as well as in PvP. I would think that with all the content that is coming out, one of the most basic things that needs fixing is sound.... (I know I ask for a lot). So can I ask for an expected date of when my sound will return and not necessitate the need for me to relog over and over again....
  16. To the OP: YOu complain that you have done 20-30 RE's without learning a new schematic. You also say you appreciate that 20% chance means for each RE try. You truly do no appreciate it or else you would not be QQing. Why is there a chance ion the first place? Because if there wasn't, everyone would have acess to the same stuff EVERY other crafter had. I have RE'd an earpiece 150 times and still have no new schematic. It can be frustrating, more because my luck sucks, than anything else. But I like the chances, because sometimes I get something that no other crafter has on the server and I am able to make a profit. It is because of folks like you that whine and cry (And hopefully unsub) that make companies like BW cater to the "entitled" generation and make things WAY TOO EASY. SO stop crying and go back to grinding for resources or go back to some Hello Kitt adventure.....kkthnx
  17. THANK YOU! That was the one area I couldn't find, even after I had gotten that datacron. Fnally I can rest easy...
  18. I've found several of the spawns, but I am having a hard time finding the supposed Ancient Crystal Tuning Device on Tython. I've looked almost everyehwere on Tython, and combed through the Forge (except the last two phased areas for consular/knight). Any info would be appreciated!
  19. The Jedi sentinel (haven't played guardian so don't know) has a vast amount of skills (which are only going to be added to in the coming 1.2 update). It is going to be slightly difficult getting that many hotkeys set up in your current parameters. I had to purchase a Razer Naga just to help with the amount of skills available. Macros will defnitely help. I don't think that there will be any major disadvantage, just slower response times. In most scenarios that would be fine, but there may be a small disadvantage in some end-game content. Personally I think a standard keyboard will be fine to enjoy most content. On a side note there is so much lore, visual, and gameplay that make the game interesting and well worth it. Enjoy!
  20. Does cauterize work with Inflammation added to the skill tree. Because I have it slotted but never notice any appeciable difference in PvP. I have to use the basic knight skill for the slow, and that is when I can notice the difference. The answer I will probably get....working as intended >.< I did pose this question in the PvP section as well...
  21. The reason why I asked it in this section was because it pertains to PvP. It does work on non-boss mobs (who have the cc immunity anyway) in the PvE environment. But I will put the queston there as well.

    Cauterize?

  23. One of the problems people most likely have is lag issues. The so-called "responsiveness" can be attributed to where your turret actually is and where the server thinks it is. This could severely affect this mechanic of the encounter. But something I found to be absolutely helpful was firing at targets opposite to you. If you are in the northwest, fire at targets coming from the southeast. The overlap helps tremendously. I found this encounter to be amazing. I love the turrets and the "puzzle" later. It is refreshing to have an FP thats different to the usual pull boss, kill boss.
  24. To answer the OP question of "Why is threat invisible" is because it makes it more dynamic. It creates confusion, makes you think, and forces groups & individuals to assess their own strategies. Having a number, bar, etc would take away the guesswork and would make it too easy. Part of the excitement of being a tank is being able to judge, without the need for a meter, if threat is needed, if it isn't. This also includes all other classes. They need to assess their own threat levels to make a successful run in any encounter. There is dps threat, healing threat, any action can "technically" produce threat. By simply walking up to a mob and being too close can be considered threat. So if you had a bar, graph, number, telling you this, it would ruin some part of the whole dynamic of battle.
  25. First off, I love playing this game. That being said, there are things however, that I feel are truly needed. Some of the things, being an end-game player and analytical is the inclusion of an in-game combat log. I am unsure of any other way to get detailed information about how much damage I am doing, what certain bosses are doing (special skills during various encounters), what other players are doing to me, etc. UI customization is another thing. I did read the recent post from the dev stating that would be coming soon, so hopefully that is true. Master Loot. This, imo, is a huge fail on the part of BW. Those groups that go into various hard modes/normal modes/world bosses/etc should be able to hand out certain items. As it stands right now, certain individuals get multiples of gear while due to the random generator in-game certain individuals get nothing for a long time. (I have been VERY fortunate in this particular instance, but I don't see this as being efficient, where I get supremely lucky and friends, guild mates, whoever, get shafted for multiple runs) Along with a fix of master looter, there should be an in-game roll system. As simple as /roll and a random number generator to help determine a "winner." Those three things make up my list of must haves....What about you?
