  1. Kaskali - that totally validates my point, which is that reverse engineering is still broken. The algorithm the game uses for recreating probability is not working correctly. We should not be getting the extremes of the probability curve ocurring so frequently.
  2. Thanks for the input tmestep! Great to hear from a fellow mathematician. (I studied maths at Uni.) Your maths is great, but I think you misread the question. You have given the probability that I got one success after 30 tries at a given probability of 0.2 for a success. Whereas I was suggesting that the given probability is wrong. 3.3% is what I was saying the probability worked out at from my sample. (30 events. 29 of one outcome and 1 or another.) Granted it is a small sample, and for more accuracy I should be repeating this for a few more hundred attempts, but I'm really not that bored with my life.
  3. I think this shows that there is an error with REing some items, but not all. The extreme disparity between the 7 items you successfully REed at a good 25% rate, and the other, that you are still trying to successfully RE. It is extremely unlikely that this is probability working against you.
  4. I will look forward to my next few weeks of crafting then, because to straighten up this probability bell-curve, I've got some good REing coming up.
  5. That is mostly what it is saying. If you RE 10 of these, you will probably get 2 successes. I appreciate that "it is possible to not get a single Researched schematic after dozens of attempts". It is just increasingly improbable. And the more improbable it becomes, the more likely it is that there is an error rather than you are just being unlucky.
  6. You are not saying that this is not broken. (Although I know you think you are.) You are saying the odds are too short. It should be more difficult to get schematics from reverse engineering stuffs. I agree with you. As long as crafted items were made more competetive with looted drops / purchased items. What is the point of having an incredibly difficult to get schematic for something nobody wants? I'm just trying to address an imbalance in the game. The game is intended for this to be a 20% chance. There clearly is a bug in there somewhere. (Unless you blindly agree with the tooltip, rather than checking the maths yourself.) I agree certain areas of the game are far too easy - basic levelling for a start, xp and cash through WZ's, etc. But that does not mean that because some things are far too easy, we should ignore the things that are far harder than intended. Exactly the opposite. If this vital part of crafting isn't adressed, what should be a massive part of the game will continue to be unused, make the game less fun, make more people unsubscribe and the servers even emptier than they currently are.
  7. Reverse engineering is still not working as it claims/is intended. Schematics are still few and far between. This morning, after several fails I decided to tally up how many units it took to reverse engineer a schematic from a green item (Kinetic Enhancement 22). It took me 30 reverse engineers before I learnt the schematic. This was a 3.3% chance of a schematic when the item said the chance was 20%. I appreciate that in probability each event is calculated as a single chance to succeed and I could quite legitimately never receive a schematic. However, it is more likely that two of my crew members spontaneously rename themselves Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, than this happen. Please fix reverse engineering. Crafting is already underpowered and overpriced, please don't add 'improbably frustrating' to the list. Thanks.
  8. Also - I resigned myself to missing all of the flashpoints the first time round. >.< I can rarely rely on being able to play continuously without interruption from real life, so I've had to solo. (I regularily need to stop for 5 or 10 mins and you can't do this in a group.) As my windows for grouping are few and far between, I've been outlevelling flashpoints. I've felt that I've had to leave them all until level 50, when they all become available on hard mode. I'm praying this is was a sensible choice because I played my first flashpoint the other day (at level 48 ) and it was awesome! I was surprised at how much fun group contributions to cut-scenes would be! This would not have been a problem if I could scale-down to an effective lower level to do flashpoints.
  9. Being able to meaningfully group with friends characters/alts whatever their level would be awesome! This mechanic is used to allow a broad spectrum of character levels to compete at a similar level in Warzones, there is no reason this same mechanic could not be used in the reverse for Flashpoints.
  10. Code redeemed on 10th Septermber. Just got my Email - 3rd wave. \o/
  11. I hope so. September 10th for me! After my gf neglected to give me the code for a week after insisting she buy the game for my birthday. >.< She's lucky I love her.
