  1. as others have stated, Malgus pwned her twice, and if it were not for the intervention of two dudes, she'd be feeding the worms. still, you gotta give props to someone that can catch a lightsber's "blade".
  2. why don't you give it a rest as the BW schill? everyone knows you had a better chance previously of getting what you wanted with cartel crates. people, like a friend of mine, buy crates every time a new pack comes out. they're literally spending hundreds on this game. to me that's a little nuts, but hey to each his own. now, he's done. BW has effectively discouraged people from supporting this portion of the cash shop, GG! BW asked people for feedback, let them give it in peace w/o you shooting them down. you've said your peace now piss off! for BW: don't make half the items decorations. decorations should be added as incentives on top of the regular items that can be found in a cartel pack in order to get people to purchase them. and seriously, releasing packs with 90% reskins, no weapons, no color crystals, etc.? there's literally a couple of decent items (of course ultra rares) in this latest pack. it makes this thread seem a sham.
  3. here's my feedback: i can't even launch the client without it borking my vid card drivers and messing up my desktop/as well as game res. it just spins in a load loop, can't even get in game. suggestion: test this ***** out better before patching! for info: GTX 590 current official drivers.
  4. yes, i'm having a problem launching the game after this latest patch. it resets my gpu drivers/resolution and gets stuck in a loading screen loop. nice job testing BW! my card is a GTX 590 (latest official drivers) and i game at 5760x1080.
  5. my honest reply is that post 1.3 if you're gonna tank go 31 pt and if you're gonna dps go full dps in either tree. don't try to half *** any spec now.
  6. merc is prob the best leveling class in the game. you can solo everything (inc. heroics) due to self heals and long stun. i've leveled both pt and merc and it isn't even close-merc wins hands down. the real question is whether you want to be stuck playing a merc past cap. the answer to that question for me was to shelve my merc and reroll pt.
  7. against for reasons already stated. it's hard enough to kite in this game as is.
  8. if you don't want to re gear than try the various AP builds (since you didn't specify which). i don't know how long you gave the AP build a try, but learning any new build takes time to master. personally, i like the "NORS" (no rail shot) build from TheOpf (lots of mobility, no heat issues, free "buffed" RP, decent dps that ignores armor/defenses, good control ability). judging by your comments, it doesn't seem like you properly understand the AP play style (no insult intended).
  9. it's useless enough that the inventor removed it from his recommended builds list post 1.3;)
  10. stock strike is Vanguard mirror to rocket punch.
  11. the fact is that player skill has more impact on the under 50 pvp. it's true that there is a slight advantage with having more skills available/granting more utility to the higher level player, but player skill can mostly cover the disparity. capped pvp is more of a gear check over skill game imo. too much power creep@50. i found pvping with my PT/Pyro enjoyable from level 11 on. i did not feel underpowered against any level 49. it's a different story with an AP build, because you need the top tier talents in order to make that build work = level 40 barrier to entry for that build. does anyone really want to pvp in a tank/tank hybrid build after 1.3?
  12. anyone who spams a dot is a knucklehead.
  13. if you're interested in a PT/AP build i would read this excellent guide from TheOpf http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=404703 however, it sounds like you are equal parts pvp and pve, so i would say go with a PT Pyro build (either full 31 pt or 8/25/8) in your case.
  14. i don't know about it being "far better". overall more dps perhaps, but you get some nice benefits with AP build (all attacks bypass armor, more mobility, better use of cc, fewer heat issues). it all depends on your play style.
  15. if you're running with 18+ points in pyro than you definitely want the 4-piece Elim set for the RS bonus and gear towards dps with the other pieces even if it means swapping out mods (Elim/Medic/CT pieces); otherwise go with the Combat Tech set if you're an AP build and Super Commando (again swapping out tanking mods) for Shield Tech and Tank hybrids. defensive mods in pvp suk big time, so always swap out. if you're gonna run in tank stance, then use a shield in OH; otherwise use the gen.
  16. absolutely correct. i too would prefer a few more abilities (on the hot bar) per weapon set. overall, i'm happy to get away from the traditional ability creep that eats up my screen's real estate.
  17. you base this: "GW2 shows no signs of improving" on 1 BWE? can you be any more biased? there's been no official release date given. GW2 has character customization, crafting, a story (personal and world) and "end game, any kind of end game" (called WvWvW and structured pvp as well as world pve content that you never truly out level). there's more to end game than gear grinding raiding. GW2 is less button-mashy because it has fewer (active) skills you can use during a fight and an (love it our hate it) auto attack. you still have to know when to use utility skills like: heals, cleansings, shields, etc., just like in any other game (although i must admit that it certainly takes getting used to, and as a long time mmo player, i feel like these types of games could use a few more abilities). I disagree that it takes "less skill" to play GW2 than SWTOR. the pve in TOR is far easier imo. SWTOR needs much more than server transfers/mergers if it wants to retain/grow subs and remain profitable. sub loss/empty servers are just symptoms of a much larger problem.
  18. Darth Hater wouldn't even round table the layoffs and their game implications, all they would talk about is how a bunch of their friends lost their jobs and that's the most important thing. I give GG props for coaxing JL into a discussion about a very real game-threatening event (which is what these fan site podcasts should be doing), otherwise he would've done the same thing on this show, which is to say, "I can't talk about that." ***, sounds like a BW dev! well, they aren't our friends, we are their paying customers and the most important thing is what are we getting for our money.
  19. i generally concur. it's ironic that TOR's most lauded content is that which can be defined as "non-social" (the solo leveling experience with companion npc). i don't, however, agree with the notion that PvP and Raiding are not social activity. stripped down to its basic principles, "social activity" is simply interaction (either pro social or anti social action) between two or more agents. Raiding isn't designed to be a community-wide social interaction (because of it's progression aspects), so it naturally follows that it wouldn't contribute to the server-wide community building effort, yet it does serve to build unit cohesiveness within the framework of a guild. it isn't necessary that everyone be jabbering away at the same time for it to be considered a form of social interaction. it's just not a free for all forum type of venture (like a party). it's more like work. pvp can be both pro social and anti social (often at the same time), but it's certainly not non social. in TOR's case, it's just too segregated, easy, and designed with a single player rpg mentality (with some tacked on coop).
  20. you weren't "clarifying", you were trying to suggest that we, as consumers, shouldn't set ourselves up for perpetual disappointment by having (unfounded) expectations that mmog should launch in a more or less "fully featured" state and instead be happy with financially supporting beta state games. that mindset is a quick race to the bottom, or mediocrity at best. not good enough for today's gamer. too many other choices. future mmo developers better get it together and learn to anticipate the "demands" of their potential customers better.
  21. here's another definition: something looked forward to, whether feared or hoped for: we have great expectations for his future ; their worst expectations . see, i can play that game too. you tried to strawman his (and mine) argument by posting a narrowly defined (of your choosing) version of the word.
  22. i'm not going to play word game symantics with you. there are minimal, industry-wide standard features that gamers expect with "triple A mmorpg" games that require an initial purchase as well as monthly sub these days. these "minimal standard features" cover several areas of the game (some of which we're discussing here). what they made was a single player rpg (on an outdated engine) with barely an afterthought to mmo features. everyone knows it. the lack of foresight/proper planning is staggering. how do you launch an mmo these days w/o anticipating the popularity of pvp when there are so many available data references that show a consistent decent percentage of the overall player populations of mmo games enjoy it? why do you have to divert "massive" game resources to playing catch up with that content? or how about the lack of foresight/having a plan in place ready to execute when your server pops start to fall below critical mass? why do you insist on making a generic, vertical scaling mmo when it's impossible to keep up content production with how fast it's consumed? outdated game systems+outdated payment model+game mismanagement = failure. you're correct in one respect...BW should've "anticipated" what players "expect".
