  1. Any other people feeling this?

Not me. The only thing that gets me with the voices is when having a conversation in a flashpoint and all the other male Jedi's speak with my voice.

But hey, it would really be too much to ask to have a huge variety of voices for so much dialogue, so I can live with it.

  2. Despite the nay sayers replying to you OP I completely agree ... the point of a map is so you don't have to remember these things.

On Nar Shaddaa in particular I found it a pain in the arse to find my class trainer and cargo hold. I even went to the promenade thinking that it would be a likely slot, switched on the toggles on the map and nothing showed. Of course you need to stand on the *lower* promenade before they show. Obviously. Not.

Similarly some planets have more than one trainer location, so even though you know there is one near the spaceport (probably, or not, with quite a few planets) there could be one nearer where you are when you need it ... but viewing the global map and turning on the appropriate toggles provides no help at all when you have to physically travel to a location just to see if the map updates with the right markers.

I'm not even sure it really needs intelligence to prevent an overload of common markers, such as medical droids, because really how many are there on an entire planet? 10? 20? Having a load of vendor markers crammed in to one location just confirms that that is the area you should be travelling to if you want to buy/sell things.

On the fleets if you hit the 'vendor' filter you end up with loads of markers all on top of each other, and no one has complained about that.

  3. but it surprisingly only has 2 light/dark side spots on the Esseles side (I think Black Talon might have one more though) out of all the social options--one for 100 and one for 150

if you can team up with a DS farmer for esseles there is actually a third dose of LS points available to you. At the end when the conversation turns to leaving the ambassador behind you can get two LS awards if the first conv is won by the DS, but obviously you can't really engineer that.

  4. I plan on testing something out and wanted to know exactly what flash point (or Heroic if that would actually be faster/give more) that ends up giving you the most alignment points per go?

I know Esseles can give up to 250 per run, but I figured I'd see if there was anything that gave more and/or was quicker as it'd take about 160 rounds to get someone all the way to Dark V and back to Light V at that pace.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure those first two FP (Esseles/Black Talon) have the most conversation - and so LS/DS choices - than any of the other flashpoints. I know the mid-range ones in particular are pretty poor with zero conversations apart from start and end.

  5. my character is a Jedi and I have a lightsaber , I can no longer use my sword, and only my companion is battling , i'm a newbie please help so I can swing my saber again

Sounds like you try and attack by right-clicking, and have moved your abilities round in your quickslot bar.

Read the other threads here to understand what you've done wrong, but basically:

    - right clicking activates the ability in quickslot 1

    - make sure your basic no-cost build-focus attack is in quickslot 1

    - learn to use the keyboard instead!

  6. So I know you're supposed to look under documents/swtor and you'll find your screenshots there, but I checked in my documents folder and I don't have a swtor folder! I even searched for star wars in my computer and haven't found anything with screenshots in it @_@...I have a toshiba windows 7 laptop, does anyone have any idea where I can find my screenshots? Any helpful tips? Thanks!:)

Have you actually taken any screenshots? The folder won't exist until you take a screenshot. You mention you're using a laptop so you might need to make sure that your 'print screen' button is primarily 'print screen' and not some other shared laptop button unless you hold down a modifier key.

  7. Just hit 25 on first toon and I have about 100k credits.

Do I have enough float to buy the mount/licence? Essentially, it's a convenience item and only effects travelling speed (and of course as a consequence levelling speed to a point).

Is there something upcoming that I will need a bunch of cash for that's more important than the mount?

Yes you have enough, and no there isn't something more important than a mount at this time.

It *is* a convenience but it is a BIG convenience!

  8. im more of a bounty hunter, but i wanted to try out a jedi knight. every time i go into a fight, my focus never goes up, and its stopping me from attacking. am i doing something wrong?

Yes, you didn't read this thread fully :)

    (a) You've probably rearranged the abilities in your quickslots

    (b) right-clicking activates the ability in quickslot 1 *always*

© the ability in quickslot 1 is no longer your basic build-focus and is something that requires focus

So what you need to do is:

    (1) open your abilities screen (P) and put your basic attack back in slot 1

    (2) make sure all the abilities you have unlocked are somewhere on your quickslot bar

    (3) start using keypresses to attack, it is quicker

    (4) Read every codex about gameplay/tutorial you get rather than just skipping through them

  9. On 10 level I suddenly can not attack target by simple pressing right click of mouse?

I reset interface and controls but it was not help. How I can return normal attack?:(

As other poster says, right-click actually doesn't 'attack' - it just activates the ability in quickslot 1.

So what has happened is you've moved your most basic no-cost attack out of that slot and now right click is trying to activate whatever is in there.

Just put your basic attack back and everything will be as you desire.

  10. Alright so i just bought SWTOR, and I don't want to create a character, on a too low populated server, so if you have some suggestions for good and well populated server, as i want an active server with proper population?

    Sincerely, MisterOG

If you're looking for higher than normal republic server then I'd suggest Hydian Way.

  11. Well I have been playing for 2 days now and am loving this game. Playing Empire-Bounty Hunter on ShadowHand server. really looking for a nice friendly guild there. not looking to get carried or plvl'd just want a nice guild. anyone know of any? I looked in the server "listing" in the forums and found a guild list but most are raiding/some seem inactive as I've contacted with no response.

Guilds aren't allowed to recruit in this forum, so you'll need to look around your server forums and guild recruitment forums.

  12. Hey guys

I just wonder if i can just spend 6-8hours during weekends to play the game, will I be able to get into raid ( I simply want to experience the content, superb gear is merely secondary stuff)?

Which class do you suggest (like which is in high demand?)

    Thanks!!!:)

You just need to find a casual friendly guild - they exist. Try the guild recruitment forums and find one that is happy to accept weekend-only players who want to join operations when they've levelled.

  13. Actually, it isn't so much as dual screen setup as how do I get the game back to the original setup without logging into game? I was in game and went from fullscreen to windowed amd moved it from my 17.5" monitor (which is the main on my laptop) to my secondary monitor (22" HD screen), and put it back to fullscreen. Well, now the game crashes every time I log in. Sucks, and I cannot get back into the game at all. I ran the repair tool, but have not reinstalled it completely. I am going to see if (like in WoW) there are *** files I can delete to reset it.

    Thanks, any ideas/help appreciated.

In the settings folder (either in C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USER]\Local Settings\Application Data\SWTOR\swtor\settings OR users\[YOUR USER]) there is a client_settings.ini file.

Make a copy of it so you can go back if you make a mistake, but the lines you probably want to change are:

WindowX and WindowY - these will state the position on the desktop of your game window and depending on your dual-screen setup will be either negative (if your main screen is to the right of the additional screen) or at an X position bigger than your main screens resolution. Changing them to 0 should put the game window back on your main screen.

Or you can change the full screen setting in that file and see if that helps you start up.

  14. LFG does not mean please whisper me and say you'll join as a dps. By this point in mmo's people should be able to understand the difference between a G and a M.

You're posting in the wrong forum - you need to find the illogical rant forum :)

A group has to start somewhere, so are you only expecting an existing group of 2 or 3 players to respond to your LFG requests? That seems a bit much.

If I am not in a group, and want to be in one, then I will LFG. I'll either start getting messages from people saying 'invite me' or a message from a group giving me an invite - either of these are correct responses, because either way a group will form.

If I am in a group and want more players then I will LFM, which means I won't get invites from existing groups because they know I am already in one.

  15. I have looked over the forums but it seems pretty much everyone knows about PvP.

Well, SWTOR is my first MMO and I have NO idea. I don't even know what the acronyms mean ... I've never played WoW or anything of the matter...

There's a good guide in this new players forum that lists acronyms, it would be worth having a look to see if that's got the ones you're struggling with.

I am doing ok in game but I've never done PvP. I keep dying of course. Too many players running around like crazy and all of them seem to be a ton of levels over me. They kill me instantly, I am an easy kill I guess when you are lvl 50 :)

Level 50's get their own warzones, so don't worry about them :) BUT you will be running with level 49's though. When you enter a warzone you might notice you get a boost ... which basically increases some stats to try and make every more of the same level. But at higher levels you will get access to more of your class skills, which can make a difference. Level 10's, for example, will probably only have half-a-dozen skills to use whereas the 40+ will have way way more.

The reason they are running around like crazy is that if you stay in one place too long you will stand out as a target and find your head being jumped on by other players.

Plus (no offense) I see a lot of people being extremely rude in the forums to those of us who truly have no idea, not because they are unintelligent, but because this IS their first MMO.

Ignore them. It's the internet and small people will always be rude if they think they are anonymous. This particular forum tends to cater for new (and stupid :p) questions so you should find less hostility than in, say, general chat.

So please, where can I find information about PvP for a truly "green" player?

Thank you so much for your help in advance!

Well really, the advice is quite simple:

    - Learn the rules of the warzone

i.e. how to throw the ball in huttball, how to recognise which team you are on, how to recognise which zone you are suppose to score in (I've seen players get turned around and run the wrong way)

i.e. how to plant bomb on door, how to diffuse a bomb

i.e. how to cap and defend a gun turret

    - As a beginner follow the directions of someone who takes the lead on your team. They might be wrong but you'll learn that as you get more experienced and can take the lead yourself

    - Work with others, don't try and play it as a solo experience. A coordinated group of players will nearly always beat a team who work as individuals

    - KILL THE ENEMY! And complete the objectives. But the other way around ... you win by completing objectives not killing enemies.

    - Have fun. Even losing gives you some rewards in terms of xp, cash, valour and most importantly a learning experience. Don't be the douche who doesn't like losing, because you will lose - a lot - as you are learning to play a very competitive game against other real life people not stupid NPCs

  16. I`m a mercenary didn`t know you could do that tell me more please

Look at tooltips for all your abilities: one of them will say something about interrupting enemy actions. When you have an enemy targeted, if they start to heal (or some other action that takes time) you'll see a little progress bar appear just above their portrait on your UI. Hit your interrupt ability when you see this, and you will stop them doing what they are doing. In your case you want to do it when they are healing.

  17. It'll be a pretty cool title to have in around a few years provided founders are still around by then.

    Unobtainable titles and all that.

Yeah and that's just it ... right now it is a fairly meaningless title and I'm not bothering to display it because nearly everyone you meet will also have that title. In a year or two's time though it may have some gravitas.

It made me laugh when people were complaining on day 1 of 'founders title launch' that they didn't have it yet because at that point it had even less meaning. Everyone playing at that time would get the title, so a week of delay's meant nothing. At least now we're at the point where new players can't get it and so it has some exclusivitiy ... not much, but some.

  18. I got booted from a FP in the middle of a fight after a wipe because I was a Sith Assassin without heals they said... I asked why they let me on then...they said "No one plays a Sith Inquisitor class that doesn't heal"... Ok.... well.... guess you found one...

Yep, as I said before, it sounds like you've got a bad server. When other players are forcing you to play a certain AC because the other 'doesn't make sense' then you've got a problem.

You should be free to play however you like, so long as you are doing damage and not causing wipes then how is getting a wipe in a FP your fault? Because they ran it without a healer?

Run, don't walk, to a new server and start enjoying your game with players that don't demand a playstyle/AC on you.

  19. I've got a bit of a problem 'coz I want to be a "Founder" member for SWTOR.

Problem is, i signed up for the subscription last Feb. 20. I found out that upon registering, it has 30 days free game time, and I will be billed for the subscription on Mar. 20 which is 1 day too late!!

The "Becoming a Founder Member" states the following:

So how do you earn the “Founder” title? This reward is only available to players who have completed either one of the following transactions (by March 19th, 2012, 12:01AM EST; Pacific: March 18th, 9:01PM PST; European: 4:01AM GMT, 5:01AM CET):

Billed at least once for an active Star Wars: The Old Republic subscription

    OR

Redeemed a Star Wars: The Old Republic Pre-Paid Game Time Code

Another problem is when I'm trying to buy the Pre-Paid Game Time, the link to origin.com redirects me to it's main page?

What will I do oh what will I do?

Yeah the way I read it is that it is too late for anyone to get a "founder" title now, and hasn't been possible since the 19th February. Hopefully they've removed all mention of the founder title from the website, so new people aren't confused and think they can still obtain it.

Because, as you point out, if you started playing from the 20th Feb you can't get it (or shouldn't be able to get it).

That's the thing with time-limited cut-off dates: there'll always be people right on the cusp who think it is unfair they can't get it.

  20. I have a quest tracker, and i have 16 quest noe on koriban, hopefully this ids what you meant by pending. I do have a tutorial for a social is that part of the quest chain?

By pending he meant, top right of the screen above everything else will appear a button labelled 'pending' if there is something waiting for you ... this can happen with the advanced class quest.

Can you access your skill tree (top of screen)? If the button is not there then (i.e. there is a gap in the buttons at top of screen) then you haven't chosen an advanced class yet and should do what I suggest on the fleet.

If you can access the button then you've already made the choice, and should read what I wrote in my second post.

  21. hey all, just bought the game, its patching as we speak :)

Ok so ive been looking round this place, i will be a jedi but im unsure which,

anyone got any pros & cons for jedi knight & consulers, all 4 classes.

ive read the forums and seen some spoilers, that doesnt bother me.

what i want to do is to be able to heal and give out good dps.

I want to be the jack of all trades class if there is one, another main thing for me is that I will be farming so ive read that i will get a helper that can heal me, how effective is this?

also I will be a crafter, i have played FFXI for many years and i know what crafting is.

ive also player kotor 1 & 2, sadly i never got round to trying star wars galaxies out.

Go play farmville ... there aren't farmers in this game, only heroes :D

Seriously though, why farm? And farm what? Playing the game is way more enjoyable than sitting in one area constantly battling 'enemy X'. What are you hoping to get out of farming - and what level are you expecting to do this farming? The only time I'd consider it is when you reach level cap, otherwise any gains you make at lower levels from farming will be surpassed just by gaining levels.

For example, sitting at level 10 'farming' XP from low level mobs is pointless when just following quests will get you more XP. Similarly with credits: you'll get more from quests AND go up levels which will then reward more silver. Crafting ingredients? Might as well just run missions to get them and save your frayed patience looking for spawn nodes.

Anyway, obviously you can play how you like but starting to play with the intention of farming is not something I can even contemplate! It's like paying a monthly sub to play whack-a-mole or something ... ludicrous.

Well, if you want to heal then there is only one choice for you ... only one of the Jedi advanced classes can heal. So you'll need to choose consular, and then when the time is right choose the AC that heals (sage).

  24. Yes, you've probably missed a quest.

On the imperial fleet, on the main level, go to where the elevator from the shuttle to your starting planet is.

Outside that elevator, on the main level, will be 4 NPCs one of each class. They will start the quest to learn an advance class.

OR if you've already chosen an advance class and are trying to learn the new abilities of that class then:

    - go to the trainer (not advanced trainer)

    - at the bottom of the trainers screen there are two tabs, one for general class and one for your chosen advance class ... make sure you click that to purchase the skills for your AC
