  1. I'm having the same problem...I've tried all the posted fixes but no joy. I've posted in 2 other threads regarding this problem and have not seen any response from the devs. This is very disconcerting...love the game but who in their right mind wants to continue to pay for something that doesn't work...especially when there have been 3 posts in the bug reports section just over the last two weeks or so but no idea if the devs are even looking at this. 😢
  2. Having the same problem here with the Play button...the funny thing is that my wife and I bought almost identical computers and we both had the same "click Play and nothing happens problem". I installed DirectX9 on both our computers...now her game works and mine still doesn't I went on to try other fixes like the Windows 8 compatibility, installing the C++ stuff, etc...but still nothing. Really the only thing different between our two computers is our monitors...I have a LG and she has a HP...could this be the problem? Hope this gets fixed soon or I'll have to cancel my sub, which means my wife will also...quite sad...
  3. Thanks for taking the time to post a recommendation...unfortunately this didn't work either
  4. So I just bought a new PC, installed the game...I can log into the launcher page, but when I click on Play it doesn't do anything. My wife had this problem on her new PC a couple of months ago...she installed DirectX9 and then the game worked fine for her. I tried this and nothing for me. I looked at all the "launcher not working" posts and tried other things like setting compatibility to Windows 8, but nothing. At this point I'm stuck with no ideas...
  5. So, I want to focus a bit more on a particular aspect that hasn't been mentioned a lot in this and the other FP thread...rewards vs time invested...and even more specifically, with regards to Conquest points. Frankly the game is all over the place with this...I can play GSF for an hour and get 200k-300k points, but a long FP or Kotfe/Kotet chapter can take an hour and it's like 7k CQ pts for SM, or something like 15k for VM (sorry I'm not in the game to check the exact numbers). The reason why CQ pts is important to me (and I imagine other players as well) is that I don't have a lot of time to play, but I love the game and I would love to play all the different aspects, so time becomes an important factor. My wife and I have 8 toons each, and we can put in around 2 hrs, 5 days a week. We have come to develop a routine where obtaining CQ for the week is our goal per toon...kind of our measuring stick as to how long to dedicate to each toon. If we play smart, we can finish all 8 within approximately 10 hrs a week...but playing smart means not being able to do any FPs because they take too long for too few CQ points. Sure, there are some FPs that are mandatory for story progression, so we throw in a quick CZ or other quick daily and that helps make up the difference...but we shouldn't have to do this. The FPs don't have any kill 25 and 50 enemies like the planets do, no "purple mission" pts, etc. And if you like to do the bonuses like we do, well we don't get any extra CQ pts (well there is the one "bonus mission" CQ item, but that's only like 2k pts and only once a day across the whole legacy). So basically we rarely to FPs or chapters unless we have to for story progression...which is a shame because they are very fun...great content that never gets used. Recommendations? Well maybe along the lines of what others have mentioned in these two threads, about creating several different tiers...by difficulty, as well as by time (rushed vs full story/bonus)...and just making sure that the longer version gets more CQ pts...especially if you're doing the bonus. You could also add the "kill 25 and 50 enemies" to FPs and chapters (not all chapters have skytroopers). But also, why not bring Renown back, and the CQ pts? This would help tremendously not only with low CQ point activities, but also to give players incentive to do planetary missions that don't give anything anymore (all those extra green and exploratory missions on the planets that there's no reason to do anymore). There is so much content that there's just no reward for doing anymore...Renown would help solve this problem. You don't have to give money with Renown rewards, nor gear or anything like that...I would be happy with just the CQ pts. But here's a thought...Daily Resource Matrix is the one resource that a lot of people struggle with...why not have this as the main Renown reward? AND, this would really help solve another big problem...for players that like to focus on story progression, there is no way to get any of the new gear! My wife and I like to do the Heroic missions as they show up on the map, as we progress through an area...but having to do stacks of Heroics, FPs, OPs, etc to get gear means we have no time to progress our stories. If you add Renown (or call it whatever you want,, but same idea), and add Daily Resource Matrix, then players like us can gear up while running through the planets, progressing story, and staying immersed in this great SW universe. Sorry for the long post...these things have been weighing on my mind for a bit hehe
  6. Please note that it's not just Heroics...my wife and I play together when questing and we have seen this bug on many different types of missions (heroics, purple missions, etc.)...the common factor is that it happens in phased instances. Off the top of my head I can remember the following issues we have seen since 7.0: (sorry for the lack of specifics on some of these, going from memory) - CZ Daily, the mission in the basement, if the instance owner clicks on the container in the last room to spawn the boss, and also clicks after killing the boss, then my wife doesnt get credit. we have to exit and she has to come in again and do the boss part with her as the instance owner. We did find out though that if I am the instance owner and she clicks the container, then it works for both of us. - Voss, its a planetary purple mission, in the healing temple (I think it's called)...where you go in, click on a stone like object and a dream-like conversation takes place with some Voss spiritual leaders (its the mission that you have to go through a series of challenges in a dream-like environment, everything is colored yellow). Well, after finishing the initial conversation, you have to go to a door and click on it, which updates the mission objective...well this only works for the person who clicks the door...the other group member does not get the update. Voss, also planetary purple mission, the last one where you battle a one-eyed being...when you walk up to this creature only the instance owner gets the mission update that allow you to talk and battle the creature. Corelia, planetary purple mission (Imp), one of the first ones where you have to go into an area and protect the sappers while they plant the bomb. When you enter the instance you have to go up these stairs and when you get near the top the mission updates...again this only works for the instance owner. - Hoth, Rep Heroic where you have to rescue some people. When you click on a green hostage it only counts for the person who clicks...other group member does not get credit, and there are not enough green hostages for everyone to get their own click count. - Blackhole, both factions, the mission where you go down into this dark basement and try to avoid getting detected, same as above, click only works for the clicker...my wife and I always have to de-group to do this mission and then regroup afterwards to finish the rest of the missions. - Same thing with the Star Fortress mission, we have to separate to do the first part of the mission (the planet-side mission that you have to do before you can go up to the Star Fortress). There are many more instanced missions where we have to separate or do twice so that each can get a turn as instance owner. This is especially true in the post Kotfe/Kotet planets (Ossus, etc.)...we can play grouped up as long as we are outside, but when we go into an instanced area we have to separate, or it will only give one of us credit. Very annoying and anti-immersive...if I wanted to play alone, I would play a different game...we play this game so we can play together. Anyways, hope this helps...and really hope all this can get fixed up, thank you!
  7. Roger all, thanks for the feedback, much appreciated
  8. Thanks all for your comments...this is helpful to me too. I'll be reaching 55 in a few days and had a question about my old recruit, BM and WH gear. I'll be able to get a couple of Partisan pieces with the 2750 comms that I have, but for the rest of my gear can I use my recruit/BM gear also since they have expertise? or would it be best to just get the best pve gear that I can get for the rest of my gear until I can replace it with partisan? WH doesn't have expertise anymore so I'm assuming this would get bolstered nicely...?

    lol bolster

This! Expertise was a terrible idea from the beginning. Especially for pvp servers. I basically owpve in pvp gear, and wzpvp in pve gear now...how ludicrous is this! It forced the creation of a bolster system that is overly complicated and full of holes. I say take out expertise altogether and make it equally difficult/time-consuming to get the same level gear whether you do it pvping or pveing. Maybe I'm missing something, but I've played in MMOs for 13 years now and the games that don't have different pvp-pve gears run a lot smoother. Just my 2 cents.

    lol bolster

Good points...that would be ideal...but unfortunately I don't see this happening. My guess is that they're going to fix the 55 WZ imbalance between between pvp and pve gear and leave it at that.

    lol bolster

That's fine for solving the disparity issues in 55 WZs, but does nothing to address the absurdity of having to (pre-55) pve in pvp gear and pvp in pve gear! Wouldn't it be just better to remove Expertise altogether? Then level out the pvp and pve gear so they're the same at each level, and no more bolster issues. Of course bolster would be necessary in WZs 1-54, but using the pre 2.0 system, which worked fine.

    lol bolster

The problem here is that expertise was not entirely eliminated from the open world...only that on WH/EWH gear. So for those that are 55 and have the new PVP gear (or the older BM/Recruit gear), they will be able to owpvp with gear that has expertise...totally overwhelming those with only pve gear. Basically, since Im on a pvp server, what I have to do now to play is to equip all my old pvp gear which still has expertise (combination BM and Recruit) when questing in the open world, then I have in my inventory a full set of 140 pve gear, which I put on when going into a Heroic instance, flashpoints or pvp WZs. Once I reach 55 then I can get the Partisan and start using that to quest in the open world. But this is just a crazy work around. The problem at the core of all this is Expertise...it was a horrible idea from the beginning and since launch people have been calling for its removal. If they remove Expertise all together, from everything, and then level out the pvp gear with the pve gear, so each tier is the same, then voila! All is solved. No bolster would be necessary in WZs to compensate for pve gear that does not have it. But I'm not sure BW is willing to accept that they messed up from the beginning and are willing to make such drastic a change. Having said this, the current system is absolutely absurd and unsustainable.
  13. Thank you Cash...you see, I'm such a forum noob I didnt even know there was a PTS forum...I accept my bad...apologies to all those that suffered my noobness. Move away from this thread please...nothing to see here
  14. Oh come on...really??? You need to be so vile? Chill out...this is a game, some people have real lives and dont live on the forums. If my questions bother you so much then just ignore them.

    2.0 End Game PVP?

It just occurred to me what will happen with end game pvp with the expansion. Will all the level 50 gear be pushed to 55? then what happens to all those that have this gear? Or will there be a whole new set of gear (or sets) for 55? Then how will levels be grouped? 1-49/50-54/55? Or 1-54 and then 55 by itself? If the later is the case then is it worth it to get the EWH gear or will the new 55 gear (if there is one) supplant this? It will probably be much easier grinding these new 5 levels then grinding EWH...so should I just wait to get the 55 gear? LOL, with the way BW has screwed around with the end game pvp gear I am already cringing to see what's in store for us in 2.0
  16. yeah your right, Amnesty does seem pretty important, its just that in PVP I dont seem to need NS that much...with all the running around, getting pulled, pushed, etc. I'm not continuously pushing out heals. But for high end PVE it is important. But then I think Humility will be important in PVP in terms of survivability against those pesky melees in my face...so I'll just have to see which box takes a hit for that extra point
  17. Yeah I agree Adi-Wan, I like the OP build but I would probably take 2 points from Pain Bearer or maybe Force Warden to have the extra crit.
  18. Hmmm, I havent been to PTS so I cant test this theory, but I would think that crit would still be important. Considering that Resplendence only procs with a HT crit, then getting my crit chance up would be a priority, especially since it's been nerfed. With Conveyance I can get a 25% increase in crit chance to HT, then with Penetrating Light and Serenity I can get another 5%. Add to this some crit chance that I can get from buffs, gear, augments...and maybe I can get to 50%? But not sure how this plays out with the diminishing returns curve. I read in a recent post somewhere that crit chance maxes out at 30%, but that this does not include crit chance that comes from the skill tree. My idea is that if I can get crit high enough for HT, then I can proc Resplendence enough that I wont need to spend a point on Amnesty to negate the force degeneration effect from Noble Sacrifice (because the Resplendence proc would allow me to use one Noble Sacrifice without force degen). Does this make sense? Then looking at your tree, I could put that point in Humility, which to me seems a very good ability to have. If this theory is valid, then I would be willing to take 2 points out of Force Warden or even Pain Bearer just to get all 3 points on Penetrating Light. Thoughts?
  19. sorry for the noob question, but do these augments only work if you use a shield? Actually, the question applies not just to augments but to equipment attributes also. thanks
  20. Getting back to topic...I agree with Warshades here, great ideas...we gotta give the devs baby step ideas. My thoughts on above: Baby step 1: SWG had a decent way to prevent kill clubing...basically your kill points are reduced every time you kill the same character, but it's similar to what you suggest. I would add a few baby steps that I think would be simple to implement that would really help facilitate OWPVP: - enable full communication with the other faction...current restrictions serve no purpose and being able to send a direct whisper to the enemy would be very useful...for many reasons. - facilitate travel between planets...if you have a friend getting hit on another planet it takes way to long to run over there and help him out. - be able to choose several options when rezzing. I've gotten caught at an outpost while doing missions that was over run by the other side and it would have been nice if I could have rezzed at a different outpost, which would have given me and others that got caught the opportunity to regroup and attack the perpetrators. anyways, just my 2 cents.
  21. Oh yeah, I hadn't thought of that, but no big deal paying for the MK2...tnx for the tip, I gotta investigate more about the legacy gear. cheers sulsa
  22. Oh wow, lol, so I get punished for being a player since launch...they keep changing the system and the old timers keep getting screwed with each change...tnx BW :/ And thanks much for the heads up Fox...guess Im gonna have to spend some creds then Sulsa

    Illum 2.0

Well certainly a certain portion of the population is like this, but I think there are more profound issues with TOR that even if the player base didn't get involved in these antics, it would still be hard to find good owpvp. For instance, the worlds are designed so that once you go through them while leveling there is little need to go back. If there were player housing, resource gathering and other mechanics that forced/encouraged players to travel to different planets, then there will be more owpvp encounters that just happen spur of the moment. And you would have smaller, funner fights. Also, one of my biggest pet peeves, is this expertise/pvp-gear thing...I just dont get it. In order to be viable in pvp you need to have the gear with the expertise, and the only way to get them is with warzone coms...and the only way to get these is in WZs...hence most people spend the large majority of their pvp time on fleet just doing WZs...hence your not going to find them out in the open world. Just make one type of gear and then its not about the gear but about the talent. Then there are other more logistical issues that could be fixed much easier which would really enhance the owpvp experience, like enabling communication with the other side, allowing for less cumbersome travel, being able to rez at a farther medic center so you dont keep popping up right in the middle of the fight, etc. For anyone who played SWG, especially before the NGE, or even before the CU, this was the best pvp Ive ever played. And the game had absolutely no "designed" pvp zones lol. SWG was the greatest open sand box MMO ever released and it was because of this openness that pvp was so good...it could happen anywhere at any time. It would start out that your traveling to planet X to mine some resources and you run into a foe at the spaceport, so you call some friends and they zip over, and the other side calls his friends...and 2 hours later you just had the best time. and no one got any rewards or anything....just pure adrenaline-rich fun lol...again...NO REWARDS AT ALL! It was all about the fun. So I guess we've gone full circle to what Mia said...its all about the people...but I think the TOR system created the people we got now, because this game is all about rewards and not just about having fun with the space you got. anyways, end rant sulsa

    MK 2 Recruit Gear

Sorry if this is a noob question, but I just came back after some time off and I tried to pickup the MK 2 recruit gear mission from the PVP terminal (like I did for the MK 1 a while back) but I didn't see it on there. Is there a trick to this? Do I need to get rid of my MK 1 first before I get access to the MK 2 mission? I tried the knowledge base and read that there should be a mission for this on the PVP terminal, but I'm just not getting anything...thoughts? thanks much for any assistance sulsa
