  1. I want Insta-travel between Planets and Fleet.

To hell with Starports and Profession Hangars and Orbital Stations and Ship.

    It's boring and stupid.

    There, I said it.

If, for some reason you dissagree, thats your right. Personally, I think your nuts.

    Disagree,

The only thing they should do is get rid of all those elevators. I should walk into the Spaceport and go right through the door that's housing my ship. What I don't want is instant travel from any location, from place to place. Going to the Starport to leave a planet makes sense and feels right. Most scenes in the Star Wars movies involve character both landing and taking off at spaceports. Your ship needs refueling, maintenance, and other attention.

Sorry, but I have to weigh in with a big NO.

  2. Im just curious how the player bounty system was SUPPOSED to work in that game, and how it really ended up being?

It seems like a **** load of fun... :-/

The bounty system changed quite a bit from the early days to the later days. It looks like everyone has answered your question, so I won't delve into it... but yea the bounty system in SWG was one of those innovative designs they were known for that really made it a special game (more so the early team, than the later team).

  3. Ok. I can't help it. I've got time to burn.

I want to state for the record, I was not a WoW player during the times discussed below- Vanilla WoW. I starting playing WoW sometime after the release of tBC. I stopped shortly after Cataclysm.

    According to wikipedia,

    According to wikipedia,

According to WoWwiki, the first patch AFTER the official release date was patch 1.1.2 release on December 6 2004.

Which only removed time zone tabs. (Big fat hairy deal). I'm going to skip this one.

The next one however was significant. 18 December 2004

    http://www.wowwiki.com/Patch_1.2.0

According to my math that is 26 days between release and first major post release date patch. It looks to me like there were a bunch of patches before the official release date. I'm assuming that these were patches found between the time the release to manufacture RTM and the release date. Maybe someone that remembers could fill us in

Look at the huge list of bug fixes.

    Now lets look at SWTOR

    According to http://www.wikiswtor.com/Patch_1.0.1

The first major patch was Patch 1.0.1 released on 27 December 2011

According to my math that is 15 days between release and first major post release patch.

Admittedly that does not include some of the small post release patches.

You obviously weren't there at release, it's clear since you're citing Wikipedia articles instead of speaking from experience.

Let me tell you about just a few problems in the early days of World of Warcraft:

    • In the early days, you couldn't loot anything without fear of getting your character stuck. Yes that's right, looting could cause your character to become permanently stuck.

    • There were no Battlegrounds of any kind. One spot became the meeting place for all PVP, that place being Tarren Mill. God help anyone trying to quest in that area, and the lag...

    • Flight paths were not truly connected routes. If you had to fly somewhere that required connecting flight paths, you had to manually select each one as you made the journey. No walking away to grab a drink or use the bathroom... just sit there and watch the same redundant flight path, over and over and over.

    • PVP rewards? Hahah, yea right.

    • Lack of end game content? There were no raid bosses, no challenging end game content. No Onyxia or Molten Core, just standing around in your capital city dueling other players of the same faction.

    • Server stability. You think the server crash maintenance is bad here? This was a cake walk compared to games like WoW and SWG. WoW's servers were down so much they started refunding people for all the downtime.

    • UI Customization? There was barely anything at release, people waited for months to for a decent selection of customization choices. And the stuff that finally came was from 3rd party sources. Blizzard didn't start adding their own customization until much later.

My point is most of you people complaining have no idea what you're talking about when you compare WoW to SWTOR. You go and join a game that's had the last 8 years to finely tune every aspect of it's game play, and then complain because SWTOR isn't there yet. Anyone who played WoW from the very beginning knows it is a drastically different game than it was in 2004. Those of you who don't prove this, by showing your ignorance is spreading such nonsense.

Everyone has a right to criticize this game, but let's try and use factual information when making claims, shall we? You know why the Bug List and Features List is so much longer on World of Warcraft patches from 2004? Because they had more issues that needed to be addressed immediately.

  4. In patch 1.1 the overlay on your abilities which showed when they were available to use or not was changed to an overlay that goes down to the bottom of the icon as it's cooldown comes up, but because the icon isn't "greyed out" anymore, a lot of the time it looks like you can click an ability that is on cooldown and use it, but you can't.

As a Jedi Sentinel I already spent half my time staring at all my cooldowns but now with this it's more like 99% of the time spent staring at my bars trying to decipher my next move because I can't just clearly see what is on cooldown or what is not, it's awful.

We want this change reverted to the way it was, which was PERFECTLY FINE. Why you even felt the need to change it in the first place is beyond me. I hope bioware don't think this is what we were talking about with regard to "ability delay", because that is a completely separate issue and the visual indications of when an ability is on cooldown or not had nothing to do with it, so in the end I really can't fathom why they changed it.

CHANGE IT BACK! I can't play like this -.-

With all due respect, I think you've missed entirely the intent of the design. The problem with the original design was that you couldn't see if an Ability was On Cooldown, or if you just didn't have the Resources/Requirements to use it. The new system, not only let's you know if you have the Resources but also let's you know how much time is left on the Cooldown.

It is superior in every way, I really don't understand what the problem is...

  5. That's 26 individual keybindings that I need be cognizant of and somehow work into a rotation just to take out silver mob. I can only imagine it gets even worse at higher levels.

I think "convoluted" is the word I'm looking for.

I've got a 44 Jedi Knight with the same problem. A lot of my abilities are just plan redundant. I'm all about having a dynamic rotation with no predetermined order, but this just feels like an attempt to entice players with an excessive amount of abilities.

  6. AMD 64x2 Dual Core 4000+

    2.10 ghz

    2.00 GB Ram

ATI HD 3870 512 mb no overclocking

Runs the game great! 50-60 FPS all the time and 35+ FPS in pvp or crowded areas.

Shadows off and 50% tree and ground.

Im no techie by far but i was just curious how these top end machines are having such an issue when mine is running great. Heck, on todays standards my computer is "ancient."

Was going to do some upgrading for this game. But i'm not going to bother for now! :)

They are most likely optimization issues.

  7. Hi all,

I just hit 28 on my guardian and picked up Pommel Strike and Enure and I'm trying to decide if its worth keeping them on my already very crowded skill bar. Now I've used up all bottom slots on my bottom bars and most of the right hand one as well and juggling abilities is becoming tricky, and there's more to come with sabre throw, hilt strike and the top tier talent skill :/

Has anyone else dropped a skill altogether, riposte maybe or slash? Or how are you working your rotations to utilise them

As a Guardian Tank, I don't seem to be able to drop any of my abilities... they are literally all important. Our class could probably use some consolidation of abilities, Hilt Strike and Pummel Strike should maybe be combined with a shorter cooldown. Dispatch and Saber Throw should be combined as well. Also Force Leap and Guardian Leap could be combined, it's effects being determined by weather you're targeting an enemy or player. Thinking about it more, there really is a ton of redundancy in our abilities and it wouldn't bother me except that all our abilities are situationally necessary and easily fill up 3 hotbars.

  8. I think the developers should re-think when to get doc. I think doc should come around low 20's. Does anyone else agree? Thoughts?

He is certainly is the most valuable companion of the five. However, the problem seems to be that certain NPC's (especially class boss') hit entirely too hard sometimes. In my opinion, rather than encouraging everyone to use Doc for tough fights, they need to tone down the NPCs or give the other companion's better abilities to help negate damage against the player more efficiently.

  9. I tend to agree with this, I actually think most Standard and Strong NPCs hit a little too hard in this game. If you're a tank (I am) it's not really a problem, but for non-tank classes you end up feeling weak in comparison. I understand the need to have Elites and Champions feel somewhat challenging, but at your level they shouldn't be that tough.
  10. You're pretty wrong about that...but whatever makes you feel better.

Lol, you're the one who's misinformed. Let me guess, you think us casuals are jealous because you can sit in a chair for 12 hours without moving? Let's not put gaming on some sort of pedestal because at the end of the day, society as a whole could care less about your accomplishments here.

  11. I bought SWTOR the day it came out and didn't mind spending $65 on because I knew it would be a fun new game. Lots of people make different complaints about the game but so far I haven't found anything I don't like. My free month ends in a week yet so far I have only put 3 days into SWTOR (1 day play time) because it's too hard to quit WoW when you already have established 5 level 85s, maxed out most professions and have everything you need. It's hard to get myself motivated to start a new MMO from the beginning knowing that it'll take hundreds of hours to get everything I would want in the game.

I'm making this thread because I want to know if anyone else is having a hard time enjoying SWTOR not because "the game sucks," but because you're happy with what you have on WoW and don't want to give it up to spend your time on a new game. Any time I log into SWTOR it feels fresh and fun yet I still feel like I'm forcing myself to play so I log off and back into Warcraft. :(

What sucks for me is, if I don't break out of this funk by next week I'm going to cancel my membership before getting billed for next month and likely will never be back. I've had SWTOR for 3 weeks now and have only gotten myself to level 16...I'm probably missing out on so much fun.

I might have said yes in 2007, but expansions after The Burning Crusade just seemed to be a rehash of everything that had come before it. I'm not against WoW like some people here, but I've played it out at this point. I played on and off since open beta 2004, and eventually got to a point where I had tried everything the game had to offer. For the last 5 years I'd wait for an expansion, re-sub and have no desire to continue playing obtaining the new level cap. I can't say that this game will be any different, but unlike World of Warcraft my Star Wars nostalgia might be enough to keep me from getting worn out as easily. Right now the only problem I'm having with this game is it's lack of features and side-content. It's very much a standard MMO, with not a lot of depth in playability.

  12. I use the keys to do most of my attacks so it makes no difference to me if it's the top or the bottom bar.

See I find myself used to the default setup, it's been that way in every MMO I've played for 10 years. It's confusing to look at in my opinion, even as someone who keybinds all my abilities.

  13. I was wondering if anyone else here has already more or less dropped quests and class quests in favour of exploration.

I'm really bothered that after only three weeks i have already found myself dropping quest after quest due to the linear experience i have found within this game.

i have played 3 toons so far to low mid 20's and apart from a different class quest system, the game seems to take the character down a straight line route.

In other mmo's i have found that other zones of similar level are offered so that you may choose to quest there instead, but in this game its same old same old.

If anyone else out there has tried to create there own game within the game, i am interested in finding out your experiences.

I tend to agree, this game feels like it rides on rails more-so than any other MMO I've played. It's not that I thought this would be a sandbox game, but there's no sense of exploration or uncharted territory in this game. It's all very closed in and tightly packed. There's no open space, one quest objective is literally right next to another. No random spawns, everything has a quest tied to it. I just wish the planets felt more open and spacious... there's seem to be nothing to explore in this world, just very tightly defined quest areas.

  14. Works perfectly for me. The top bar is 1 - = and the bottom bar is Q - ], its easier to match up the bars on screen to relative position on keys. When I had bartender I used hte same setup, I had a third row above those two for F1 - F12.

Your F1-F12 keys are above the Numbered Keys... wouldn't it make more sense to have those above your default quickbar? Unless your default keys are F1-F12?

    Edited post :D

  15. Hi Michell, What exactly is the problem with this? (yes it's not what we call "the standard") But i see no reason why this is better or worse.

You don't sound like a clicker to me so I dont realy see the issue? I have bound my keys the way I want them and almost never look at the bar anymore.

Personaly I think it's a matter of preference, my GF for instance loves the fact that this is the way they designed it while I also found it a bit wierd.

We should just be able to custimize our gui :p then these issues would solve itself lol :D

I think my major issue is that when adding Hotbars to your screen, it shouldn't move the original hotbars location. I just don't see the point in that. The Default Quickbar location is at the bottom, right? So why does it change it's location when I add another bar? It should stay in the same place, and the additional bar should be created above it. :p

  16. One of these days you're going to wake up and realize that casual gamers make up the majority of the player base. I'm not against you playing 12 straight hours a day, 7 days a week if that's your prerogative. But how can you pissed at other players for not wanting to sit in front of a computer all day. You're playing a Star Wars game, this is not some obscure title that can afford to be a niche product for hardcore gamers. It's a multimillion dollar game with real investors, profits matter which means they need a large subscription base. What is this obsession with hardcore gamers thinking everything should be suited to their play style? Games have Hard and Easy modes for a reason... some of us look at gaming as a career, but most are just looking for something to pass the time.
