  1. WoW Even 2nd Genesis (former) SWG Rift LoTRo STO ... Want more? As a EU player. I barely notice they are down. Sometimes perhaps, in case of emergencies, but not often. I've had more noticable downtime with SWTOR in the last month then with Eve in the early years (maint. allways around noon EU time, even weekends) for example.
  2. Ok guys. Took the email and read it again, as well as following the link on it to the website. It's March indeed, but I could have sworn it said January yesterday I guessed they pulled a mindtrick on me
  3. Lets ask us this - 1. This was a PvP exploit right? 2. Are the exploiters banned or otherwise punished for their misconduct? 3. Why not just - temporarily - close the area where it was possible (ilum)? 4. But here is the 1 million dollar question: If it was (more or less) ONLY PvP related - then why not the shut only the PvP servers and fix it on those, so that the other non-PvP aka PvE players could keep enjoying their gametime?
  4. SOE? I think you're are now accusing the wrong company. SOE did stupid and bad and idiotic things too, but SWTOR isnt SOE's
  5. And again, EU primetime downtime (for me from 16:30 - 21:30 GMT+1) - those are not working hours (I'm not in a nightshift), those are not schoolhours either (not going to school, but I happen to know those...). I will give this warning as well - I will be subscribing for 1 month. If in that month I have more then 5 primetime days where the servers are down, I will cancel. End of Discussion. I'm living in GMT+1 - hence I dont want to see maintenance *AFTER* 17:30 GMT+1 for any lenght of time, nor ofcourse in the weekends. The only exception may if there is REALLY a major catastrofy going on (a PvP issue I do not consider as such). Take a look at the other MMOs doing it RIGHT
  6. Remember that you guys gave us a bit more time for signing up (up until the 20th)? Mine was one of those late accounts - it took a while for my package to arrive. As such, my first payment will be on the 21st, out of the timeframe specified for the Founder title. Maybe you need to look into that?
  7. If this emergency patch wasd that important, then why not stuck to the original timeline layed out? this patch time was moved up HIGHER twice now... not to mention increased from 4 to 5 hours. So I call your BS.
  8. That's a bit closed minded isnt it? 1. How many non-pvp ers are there ( consider the RP and PVE servers....) 2. If it is that a big issue when it comes to PVP inbalance, why has the server been up during the whole prime time of the US? If it's an issue that's that important/big/<fill in>, then it should have brought down when the issue was found. I mean, this is downtime from 430pm GMT+1 to 930pm GMT+1, whether or not this is a normal weekday or not, its the time the EU and other more eastern positioned countries compare to the US will want to play. Lets make a deal here: every odd week all patches, fixes and maintenance go down in US primetime, the even weeks it goes for the rest of the world.
  9. Uhm - what about no? First get the security key app for the EU users? EU users are again treated as 2nd hand customers.
  10. Warning: long post ahead After being in here for a few weeks now, I have some points and things that I'd consider important to get on the bug-fix list. As a gamer that has seen and been in a few MMOs I think I've gotten a nice level of experienc of what works, would work or doesnt work at all. The UI Let's start with the user-friendliness, which basically boils down to the User Interface. The UI *looks* nice but's horrid in terms of usability. 1. Allow dialogs to be moved around at will, to be resized at will (and remember the positions and sizes for each). 2. Auction House: the searching is only partial working. When I look for things usable for me, I expect only to see things usable BY me. Not stuff I really cannot even use because I lack the (passive) skills or are for a completely different class. Same goes for level: when I would like to see items from level 30 and up - I get nothing, even tho I saw like level 33 items before. Therefore this whole part needs to be redone and thought about. Since a lot is copied, look at how WoW, Rift, Vanguard, LoTRo handle these issues. 3. Same goes basically for vendors. Search options are totally broken and useless. 4. Extra toolbars: allow them to be moved / docked together, swapped horizontal/vertical. Again look at other MMOs how that works. Also, allow better keyboard handling by using shift, ctrl, alt and/or combination of that to be assigned to slots on those bars. 5. Fix the hood/no hood option. If I say I dont want to show my hood - that also means if my jedi character gets a robe - it should show it being unhooded, not hide my face because its the 'default' cloak. 6. While at it - put in APPEARANCE slots - you can put anything in there, but all stats would be ignored. This allows, especially on RP servers to look much better while still having the 'gear equiped' that you'd need. And the same (including showing hood or not options) for any companion, per companion. 7. Make selecting 1 out of x rewards (after a mission) more OBVIOUS. I had several times now that I thought I had selected item X, but received item Y. Ranging from armor to weapons to even the looks for companions. This is very annoyin because it cannot be undone/reversed. If an item would be selected, make it clear by *inverting* it in the list. A dark unseeable line surrounding the dark icon(s) isnt visible. 8. Others I saw were already mentioned: like the abilities firing out of sequence or with a lot of delays. Those are gamebreaking. 9. Finished instances... You walk out of them... keep walking and suddenly the view has changed and you're now bumping into the red wall... WHY oh WHY? That part is really annoying. I think with these enhancements on the UI the game will be a lot better. Characters and Companions... Those a really something to think over again. In basic: what were you guys thinking to add a Trandoshan as a companion towards a Con ? Come one. A hunter that likes to skin Wookiees (scentient beings)? No wonder my standing with him isnt high as I cannot agree with that. Speaking as Yoda: Excitement? A jedi craves not such things. A hunter (Q) does... To me, Q would better be suited to form a companion with a bounty hunter or so. Both hunting for prey. But the BH can choose to do honorless hunts (bad rep) or exciting, fearless and challenging hunts (good rep) which makes more sense imho. Compare this to the Knight who gets the T7 - which makes huge positive jumps because he mostly agrees on whatever light side choice being made... Unless you want to fall as a knight to become a darth (is that even possible, I wonder), it's almost impossible to get on a bad footing with T7. This makes it inbalanced IMHO. Maybe I'm not seeing the whole picture yet, but that is something I noticed very clearly: some classes will get better companions to start with then others. It just seems unfair to me. Client and Server Perfmorance issues are known already. But in my experience it's a bit weird. Once I'm on a planet (exception was Taris) I barely notice lag at all. Not in instances, not whole on the planet but during LOADING times. Normally my FPS is varying around 40-100 in any given time, but when I change scenery, like taking shuttle to go to a orbital station, or from ship landing on a planet - it takes, really it does, MINUTES (like 5 or more) to load and the FPS drops to 0.5 - 2! Can anyone explain that? Sure, nothing happens on the screen, so I understand the lack of updating the screen, but that also means that the loading progress indicator takes ages due to the loading being so damn slow. This is the only game that has these ridicilous loading times. Crafting Just my 2cts - it's below par. It's not clear. It's not concise. You have no clue what your companions can do (bonusses on certain crew skills), like Q being good in some skill totally unnecessary for a sage who decides to do synthweaving... Ridicilous. No explanations, no tour, just get a crew skill, talk to crew skill trainer then what? Totally unfinished, tedious in doing and boring. End Game ? So far my experiences. In general I'm enjoying the storyline (class quests) and other quests (some of them have a good story as well), but I'm really not seeing myself play much after having done them. What I miss in this is the option to, as a former SWG player, make my own game: decorate my home/house (any plans?) and so on and so forth. Already I hear from people around me they already are bored with the whole game (and not even gotten to level 50 yet). That doesnt bode well. Compared to the old (precu/prenge) I never encountered people who got bored after less then 1 month of playing. BioWare, EA, LA: take heed and listen to the warning signs already all over the forums. Step up to the plate. There is potential, but you guys need to unlock it fast(er).
  11. @op: 40k for that skill is peanuts. At level 25, I've bought the skill, extra inventory space *and* the extra banktab. And still $$ to spend. It's a matter of selling loot (ah) and unused old bound items to vendors. Getting credits is easy as it is. I find spending it on items that are usable much harder tbh
  12. To chip in my 2cts on this one... Began playing SWG back in 2004 and it was a thrill to have made a character and find myself in Mos Eisley at the starport entrance with an R2 coming to me as my guide. Very cute. I met up with very mature and friendly people while learning and it made me see the wonders of the sandbox. For those complaining about having to see entertainers and having to wait in line: the same was for doc buffs, or when you missed the shuttle. But those were the moments to socialize (after all, it's an mmo). Sometimes nothing happened, but in occasion while waiting for a shuttle a fight broke loose because some bounty hunter (player) came for another player. And then, because people were watching the fight, many missed the shuttle again Seeing docs, entertainers for healing and buffing gave the very needed interaction. The CU drastically destroyed that part, but it did set straight a few wrong things like the double stacking of skills which caused problems with 'uber' and FTM toons while SOE tried to fix those. The CU was a good thing but it caused a bunch of mayhem and personally I regret it not having seen it following through because in 6 months it was replaced with the dreaded NGE. About the NGE I can be short: that basically killed the game for a lot of the people I'd like to hang out with in favour of a crowd I couldnt care less about. Especially rendering some classes completely moot was a not-done (which SOE really learned the hard way). I returned when those were reintroduced (in some way): beastmaster specialisation. However, the whole NGE was more like a grindfest for me. Levelling, getting components for BM, getting components for re-introduced attachments - anything to just take lots of time so subscriptions would have to be payed over and over to finally get what you want. In the original I never payed attention: just played and enjoyed living in that world. Personally I look back at the NGE with dislike - it turned over the game again (2nd time in 1 year), removed classes people have been playing for 2-3 years, and on top sort of changed the whole galaxy rules wise. Over time, things were re-added trying to give it the flair back it had, but it could never match the original or CU. The closure of SWG didnt come as a shock or surprise. It was dying already and just a matter of time. The ability to fly your ships not just in space but over planets as well should have been there years ago, not the last month - it was requested since before the CU (2005). The biggest plus on SWG was and still is (because I do not know of any other mmo that has implemented it) the decoration of housing. With NGE finally came the almost full free 3d rotation and placement of objects within any structure you had administration rights to. Some amazing pieces of work were created by people over the years and I have yet to find another game that give that level of customization. Now I'm here in TOR. And I'm still not sure what to think of it. Sure, some parts are fun. But what when I'm finished doing the whole quest line. Then waht? Is PVP end-game (not my idea of fun, no offense). Will there be cities or house to own which can be decorated? Will there be opportunity to 'switch' sides? Like as a dark jedi seeing the light again? Or is it once you're affiliation is chosen (either empire or republic) it sticks unless you delete character and start over? So in the long run I dont see myself yet keeping swtor...
