  1. On the page: " let us know which Cantina’s you will be attending " I would hope that the person's responsible for communication's would know by now that apostrophe's are never used to pluralize word's... you know, to appear professional and thing's. Just a tip from one of your customer's. EDIT: It was fixed. Thank you. Please also fix all the other language mistakes in the game, some of which have been in since launch, and about many of which I have filed bug reports
  2. Patch 3.0.2 introduced a bug to the Galaxy Conqueror achievement: the requirements for the achievement now include the conqueror achievements for Rishi and Yavin 4. I am forced to conclude that this is a bug for the following reasons: 1) this change is not mentioned in the patch notes, and there has been no explanation or even acknowledgement of this change by any Bioware employee 2) no other achievement has ever had requirements changed with the introduction of new content, and this specific achievement was not changed with the previous addition of the Conqueror of CZ-198 achievement If this is not a bug, and achievement requirements are now generally subject to change with new content in the future, an explanation of this broad change in philosophy would be appreciated.
  3. Regardless of the strengths and weaknesses of the conquest system, what happened here is that BW made a change that: - was not in the patch notes - was inconsistent with their previous practice (both in CZ-198 not being added to GC AND in other achievement requirements not being altered with new content) Did this change enhance the game in any way? I don't see how. I only see that a bunch of people who put a lot of work into something find that, after several months, the goalposts are moved suddenly and without explanation. Does crafting dominate conquest? Sure. Are there a bunch of people who don't care about conquest? Sure. Neither of those facts has any bearing on this discussion.
  4. Today is the day most of our guild should have gotten GC. No good reason for this change ESPECIALLY after setting precedent with CZ-198. It only serves to irritate people (some of whom consistently spend large amounts of money on this game).
  5. Free proofreading! (Monetary) tips appreciated. "affected", not "effected" "do not", not "does not"
  6. Thanks. I did wait until it was over to reply since I always had in the back of my mind that you all could close the gap just as easily as we opened it. I think ~3 mil of the 10 in the first 24 hours was pre-crafting, meaning it would be feasible for any guild of comparable size and resources to get 7 mil in a day since this past week favored crafting. I still have a character loaded with Invasion Forces that I wasn't going to log in unless necessary.

This will be my final statement on the subject unless something further of substance arises: - Many of the people queuing in both regular and ranked were experienced in pvp and had decent pvp gear, some of them were not. We chose to encourage people to pvp regardless of gear or experience in order to build points quickly. I know there are people who object to that kind of thing, but it was a conscious decision by the leadership and one that I stand by. I believe (but may be incorrect) that every group of 4 that queued for ranked had at least 1 geared/experienced player. Like I said, we won a few ranked matches against both Imp and Pub groups. - We're certainly not accusing Aisthesis of any wrongdoing; we never had any proof, and we are inclined to believe them when they say what they were doing. I have tremendous respect for them and there are absolutely no hard feelings about the outcome. - We are a fairly large guild, and this competition certainly made emotions run high for a lot of us. Due to that, I'm sure that people have said and done things that aren't the best reflection of the values of the guild, and for that I apologize. For those who don't know, our core principles are Loyalty and Respect, and I often sum up our rules of conduct by saying "don't be a jerk". We don't focus exclusively on pve, pvp, rp, crafting, or anything... but we have many players who are skilled in those areas and we put forth our best efforts at every opportunity. Yes, there were bumps and kinks this first conquest week, but I am tremendously proud of everyone and know that this has been a valuable learning experience for us. -Bool GM of Veritas

We were queuing most of the day AND night, we didn't just start in off hours to avoid competition -- we stayed in until right before the 8 AM deadline because we have dedicated people who were pushing until the very end to try to win. Again, if you can show me that someone from Veritas did not put up a fight, I will personally deal with it since that is not acceptable behavior.

The way the conquest objectives were designed, the fastest points come from warzones, and the fastest warzones are arenas. Thus, we had several people queuing ranked, ready to face whomever else was in the queue. We did win some of the matches against non-Veritas groups, by the way. Yes, there was a point when due to people coming and going we ended up with sub-optimal teams, and we had some inexperienced and undergeared players out there, but we were not interested in comms and we told everyone to fight as hard as they could. It's probably true that some people did /stuck when they were about to die to speed things up, but to my knowledge no one simply didn't try to fight; if they did, that is not representative of what the guild values or expects of its members. I agree that it's not -just- about the ratings, but we absolutely would not have put out so many inexperienced teams if this was a regular season. That said, I hope that the designers learn from this experience and provide more equitable options for conquest points in the future. It's silly that you can only get points for up to 3 flashpoints per day, but unlimited warzones.

Congratulations to Aisthesis on the win - you all earned it. Thanks to everyone in Veritas who devoted so much time and energy to this fight. Enjoy the day off Bool
  11. I got a hat! EH was one of the most represented servers it seemed. Overall a fun time, even my wife (whom I dragged along to grab extra pet codes >.>) seemed to enjoy it.
  12. On top of the personal mentoring, parse analysis, etc. it might be helpful to have not just "casual" runs but "introductory" runs where you take some less-experienced people along for the explicit purpose of learning to execute mechanics and utilize class skills. If you tell everyone up front that you will have an intro op, easily annoyed vets will know to stay away, helpful vets will want to come along, and those who need improving will be more open to ask questions (unlike in other ops where people might be intimidated and not want to slow the raid down with noob questions). In my experience this has been a great way to get PVPers involved in PVE, give experienced folks a chance to try a new class/role, and satisfy the desire for everyone to raid without bogging down high-end progression runs with excessive mistakes.
  13. I agree that a big part of the problem is the attitude of raid leaders. There are some classes that top out higher than others, but EVERY class can hit the baseline dps required for each op in the expected gear. Having marauders, pyros, etc will give you some cushion in case of mishaps but are by no means -required- if you have a fairly competent team. A leader might make a discretionary decision like not taking 2 merc healers, or 4 conc ops, but someone who refuses (or even second-strings) someone based purely on class/spec is ignorant and/or a jerk. So even though all dps specs are not within 5%, anyone with the skill and gear can be successful (i.e. not 'carried' or 'crutched') in all current PVE content.
  14. My Gunslinger hit 50 during a Huttball for getting the "Scored" codex entry. If I had been planning for it I might have brought along a set of Recruit gear (or Legacy transferred WH)
  15. You're not getting 0.2 off one cast in the scenario I outlined. If you have the 4% talent and 100 alacrity, KI is at ~1.85s. Adding even 200 more Alac will only shave off 0.11s, not 0.2s.
  16. To restate what I think Zho was trying to get at in practical terms: Ignoring energy management, think about what actually happens when you go from KI cast time of 1.8 sec to 1.7 sec. That means if you are chain casting 5 KIs in a row with zero delay between them you will come out half a second ahead. GCD is 1.5 sec so you are not actually gaining the ability to use even one more instant cast ability (you'd need 15 casts with zero delay between them for that). In actual fights with movement and energy management etc. this will never be realized -- if fights were a matter of absolute clockwork precision and every single action/movement/etc always happened at exactly the same time (down to precision of ~0.05 sec) then over the course of a whole fight all of the 0.1s could add up to a real difference in number of casts allowed. Actual fights aren't that precise, especially since latency is often in the range of 0.05 sec anyway. The only other benefit would be quicker delivery of the heal to the target, but if you are in a situation where your target is consistently dying 0.5 seconds before you would have healed him/her then you have bigger problems than gear itemization The takeaway: starting from Surge ~ 300 and Alacrity ~ 100... adding Surge will give a -small- benefit, adding Alac will give -zero- benefit in practical application.
  17. Last night, two of our members could not channel either. They clicked the button, did not move or get attacked, we saw the message "x has disabled the shield" (or whatever) but it simply did not work. We switched to have those two stand in the circle for their respective colors, and it worked. The only commonality between them was that they were both Snipers (and they were the only 2 snipers so we couldn't check if it was a 'sniper issue'). This was Story Mode, btw.
  18. How about this one: Full 8 in ops, all have their GF set for "daily reward available" for Story Mode Ops. As leader, I queue the group, and we travel to KP. Partway through, one of our members needs to drop due to an issue IRL, so I use the GF to find a replacement. Almost instantly, a replacement joins our group... AND a window pops up offering to match us with a DIFFERENT replacement person as if we were queued as 7 from the start. We all close the window and finish the op with the guy who automatically popped into our group. No BH comms. File a ticket, a couple days later they say they "cannot verify that we were eligible". Result, over an hour wasted for 7 of us who don't need the SM gear, just the BH comms. Similarly: 4 of us queue for LI HM, one has to drop when we are on 2nd boss... I ask GF for replacement. In order to get 4th, it asks us to "travel to our destination". We do, the 4th guy is added to group... and we are in a -totally reset- LI HM instance. Couldn't get past the first boss since the new guy doesn't listen and we are too frustrated to bang our heads against it AGAIN. Result, almost 2 hours (and lots of repair money) wasted.
  19. I'm curious if this will come at/around the same time as Cathar, or if one will be significantly before the other.
  20. It seems like people are bringing up a lot of long-standing issues, so here goes: After defeating Yadira Ban and talking to the General, you contact the Black Talon and talk to the droid. He tells you to "return to the Brentaal Star". You are currently ON the Brentaal Star when he tells you this, then you subsequently return to the BLACK TALON. Yes there are more pressing issues in the game, but I certainly hope the team responsible for dialogue isn't the same team responsible for making sure people can re-enter Denova without a server error.
  21. At least 3 guildies (including myself) complained of this yesterday. From the time the transfers started until 1.3, there was a noticeable increase in server-side lag spikes and warping... after 1.3 hit, Huttball became a guessing game.
  22. I seem to recall from the Guild Summit videos that the devs said it the way I say it and how I hear it most often: CALL-um-eye but about a third of the people I hear in Vent do the blasphemous: cuh-LOO-me
  23. As an Ebon Hawker since beta, there are plenty more matches to be had, but it seems like the refugees have a much worse skilled/unskilled ratio than the natives did before. There are certainly some decent ones, but many more who don't understand gear, alertness, strategy, coordination, etc. In any given match now, there are at least 6 "inexperienced" players between the two teams. Interestingly, there also seem to be a lot more jerks who play closer to "griefing" than "sporting". blah blah it's an RP server, whatever. For the ignorant, we have (well, had) a solid base of skilled players in both PVE and PVP.
  24. Being a native and having a recent influx of transfers, I see many more of these "don't want to hear" things now. Guy At West: "EAST!!" ... west is capped Guy At West: "thanks a lot guys for all the help"
  25. When they said it wouldn't be this past Tuesday, I thought it would be next Tuesday and I'd have plenty of time to hit 65. I really dig most of the stuff in the update, but man I wish it was next Tuesday. I couldn't even hit 64 due to persistent connection issues today
