  1. Does anyone else have trouble getting subscribed notifications to this thread? I haven't gotten notifications for days when I know for a fact there have been almost ten pages added to this thread since my last notice. And no, I don't have it set for weekly notices or daily notices.

Also I've had to resubscribe to this thread multiple times (its like the forum "forgets" I'm subbed). I have never had this happen to any other thread I've subbed to on this forum.

Do you actually log into the forums and check the thread every time you get a new notification? Because it only will send one then doesn't send another until you actually read the thread.

Haven't had it forget I'm subscribed other than when the thread gets recreated though so I can't help you there. :\

  2. As pointed out, this thread will likely be closed, but while it's here I'd like to add my support for getting more information. Even a confirmation that information from earlier this year still holds true would be better than vague statements that -may- mean that and endless redirects to a thread that gets no response from devs or CMs.
  3. It's fairly obvious that if they haven't been working on this by now then it's never gonna happen.

They'll be trimming the budget on all fronts and I guarantee VO work will be greatly reduced. I expect a lot of future quest givers will be speaking Huttese and there's no way they gonna pay for a couple dozen hours of VO for something only a portion of the playerbase will see.

We don't know that they have or haven't been working on this. All we know is at the guild summit they said SGRAs were coming this year and that, at least at that point, some work had been done on them.

  4. That is pretty ridiculous! More paying customers would leave the game then it would gain from adding such a feature. The "huge fanbase" that you claim is more likely just wishful thinking. There is only a small minority that would use such a feature and adding it would be a huge waste of time and resources. Bioware says (like many game companies) that it will be added in the future. We'll see if that is accurate or not and I'm sure if it is that the exodus of paying customers that it brings may make them regret such a decision, if the feature ever even makes it in game.

I highly doubt Bioware is going to suddenly lose a huge chunk of players just from adding SGRAs in their game given all their other recent games ALSO have both straight and gay relationships and STILL sell huge numbers. As Rayla said, Bioware has admitted that they realize it's not a small group that wants this added, insisting otherwise won't change that fact.

  5. Thank you, Voice of Reason. :) Much appreciated.

Much as I'd rather have an enjoyable discussion, it's time once again for me to get all Vulcan in a Star Wars thread and lay down some logic.

1: A lack of word from BioWare about SGRs in no way indicates they have stopped working on SGRs or changed their minds about including SGRs in the game. Silence on a matter is simply that, silence, nothing more. Some people think that, if BW was working on it, they would be telling us about it. This is a flawed assumption. BW was working on TOR itself for years before talking about it, and I have no doubt they have other things planned for the game that they have not told us about. Interpreting the silence to mean anything other than "BioWare isn't saying anything right now" is an assumption with no basis. On a related note, the copy-pasted response is only that, a repetition of what BW has already said because they haven't decided to say more yet.

2: BioWare not addressing SGRs should not be taken as a deliberate insult. I wish I didn't have to say this. Take a look through the Q&A thread for this week or any given week. People bring up dozens of issues, if not hundreds. Most of these issues do not get commented upon. This does not mean BW bears any enmity toward the people asking about those issues. I really don't think we need to add to the people whining that BW doesn't care about them just because BW doesn't address every single issue that's brought up. We should be better than that.

3: BioWare works on its own schedule and by its own decisions, not ours. Claiming that BW has to implement something by an arbitrary deadline or they must not be going to do it is not only entitled behavior, it also makes absolutely no sense. BW does not do what we tell them to. They do what they believe is best for the game, and we decide whether or not to continue paying for the product. If BW wants to take our suggestions, that's great, but our payment does not entitle us to dictate anything about how the game is made, nor does it give us any authority to demand news from them.

To be more specific on that last point, this is what I mean:

I apologize, Kharnis, for singling you out, but you provided a good example. You can claim that what BW says is no longer acceptable all you want, but it won't change a thing or make them give us info that they're not ready to give us. It comes off as saying "Do this or else", and when BW asks "Or else what?", there's nothing to back it up.

There's nothing wrong with requesting an update on something we want to hear about. But when those requests turn into demands or bashing of BioWare, something's gone wrong. There's plenty of that crap across the internet and elsewhere on these message boards. We don't need to add to it. Like I said, we should be better than that.

Besides, we're talking about a feature that BioWare has said is coming this year. That's a lot more than many topics get. If BioWare breaks their word on that, the ensuing rainbow nerdrage will be completely valid. But please try to remember that it hasn't happened yet.

We now, hopefully, return to your regularly scheduled discussion...

Thanks for pointing all that out again, Moose. :)

I also want to point out, we're barely into July. Yes, that's over halfway through the year but it ALSO leaves over five months LEFT in the year. This is still a large chunk of time. If it was December and we had nothing that'd be one thing, but it's not.

  6. I would love to have LGBT romances. I am waiting on playing any other characters till I can lol.

I would like to know if the LGBT companions would be added throughout the story line from beginning, or if they'd be new companions we get if they extend the story line and level progression past 50. Extending levels and making a new chapter for the story line would offer new content for everyone and also would be a great spot to introduce the LGBT companions. That way they aren't just thrown in as an afterthought to the rest of the story line.

Really, actually, I'd take ANY information as opposed to the NOTHING they've told us so far.

Hopefully they'll be just as integrated as the current OGRAs. Unfortunately, this could mean someone who already lvled to 50 and has possibly done companion quests past the romance start point could get screwed unless they give us a way to reset affection/companion quests.

I'm torn about them giving us more information sooner rather than later. On one hand it would be nice to at least know what they have planned but on the other, it would suck if they were all "Yeah, we're gonna do X! And Y! And Z!" and then closer to release time they suddenly went "Uhhh... so we're actually only going to do A, B, and C... X, Y, and Z might get added later... maybe... if we can."

  7. You probably should read the entire post and not just the last paragraph. I was referring to any customization/story choices in general.

I did read the whole thing. But your final sentence rubbed me wrong and so I responded because it felt like "this is only ok if it's kept far away and BW doesn't force me into it!" as if things not being optional was going to happen. I ALSO already apologized if I misread your sentiment; you didn't really need to follow that up with being condescending.

  8. Well, obviously. I don't understand why that even needs to be said.

Because you brought up the "as long as it stays optional" which seemed to imply that there was the chance it wouldn't be. We've had a lot of people come in and act as though BW is going to force SGRAs down everyone's throat but if that's not what you were implying I apologize; I may have overreacted.

  9. I've been supporting SGRA stuff since the very first "should they be in the game" thread. :) I just stopped posting in these since it's redundant to repeat myself in every single thread.

I'll say it again though. Sexuality is a matter of biology, not choice. Thus a game that emphasizes so much on character development and personal story should include sexuality in it. Sexuality is a very personal and important part of what makes us, us and should never be ignored.

I am a straight, late 20s male and would not really choose that option except for fun. In fact, on my female toons, I've gone with 2 romance stories with male characters because they are just that, characters. I would never ever pretend to be a female to anyone and make it a point to correct people if they assume as such. Earlier, I was joking, obviously. Anything that enhances the feeling and ability for your character to resemble yourself is a good thing and while I don't identify with my characters in any way (they are dolls to me, like playing the sims) I understand that it's not the way others play and identify with their characters.

Untill you can clone yourself and your personality into a game, it's not enough choice and customization. :) I support everything and anything, as long as it stays optional.

SGRAs will be as optional as OGRAs, which is to say, completely.

  10. Just the racism emitting from the Empire makes me feel like most imperial citiznes would be homophobic.

Definitely possible. Of course the Empire's so weird about stuff sometimes I could totally see them hating aliens but being just fine with two guys or two girls sleeping with each other. :p

  11. I wonder if they will include how each faction feels about SG relationships, because it seems like it would be punishable by death within the Stih Empire.

Not really sure why it would be. Sure, they're big on procreation and such but it's not like they don't have the medical capabilities to get around that.

  12. i am waiting patiently for SG romances, reason Number 1 why i am still sub, lol

i wont mind to see it with old or new companions

i just hope that if they do new companions they do not stereotype them..

like the very girly, weak gay, i really hope they dont do this hehe.

it will be prolly the worse they could do about SG romances, because thats not even how it is in RL, just my thought!

Given how SGRAs have been treated in the other BW games (ME3 springing to mind)? I highly doubt this will happen. The companions who become available for same-gender romances aren't going to suddenly start acting differently JUST because they can now be romanced by the PC.

  13. Is there a difference in gameplay and leveling up between the PVE and RP servers? Or do you have to do the HEROIC, AREA and FLASHPOINTS on either server to keep your character at a level to complete the missions that are assigned?

The gameplay on both servers is exactly the same. Heroics, Area, and Flashpoints aren't required either way in order to level easily as long as you're completing all the quests and not stealthing through all the mobs so that you also do the bonus quests.

  14. What does KC mean? Ive seen people talk about it but not sure what it means.

Depends on the context, it could also be used as a shorthand for Kaas City.

  15. Could be a neat addition to Legacy. :) I would be inclined to say it should be restricted to same faction companions though, just because it would make more sense from a story point of view. But if all of our characters are meant to be related in some fashion, there's not really any reason one character couldn't relay a message to another character's companion or however they wanted to phrase it.
  16. It's pretty much personal preference though a lot of people use the mouse for movement and then keybind all the abilities and use the left hand for them. But whatever makes you comfortable and allows you to play.

As for the fact that WASD is nested... eh, you get used to it. Q and E tend to be the strafe keys so even if you hit them by accident it's not going to do much except move you to one side or the other.

  17. I find no problem with clicking. That is what I use and I am good at it. If you like to click don't let some one who takes a game way to seriously, were the game is like a real life and their real life is a fantasy, tell you how to play.

Oooor those people just prefer to be more efficient and feel that keybinding is preferable as a result? Just because someone prefers one method to another, and expressed it poorly, does not mean they are confusing real life and fantasy or that they are too obsessed with a video game or whatever.

  18. Ok so keybinding allows a higher level of competitiveness. I guess the idea is instead of left hand movement keys and clicking mouse with right hand, a keybinder moves and turns with the mouse while executing only keybinds on the left (or whatever hands you want to use).

I guess people don't have a problem transitioning between characters where keybinds will all be different? That's probably going to be my biggest issue with it.

Well, the slots are still keybound to the same keys. So you just have to get used to the different abilities but that's a lot easier than it seems. For me, I try to put similar abilities in the same spot. So my AoE ability/abilities are always bound to the same keys, my primary attack is on the same one, etc.

  19. I want to try out an imperial agent and i wanted to know if a male has a different experience than a female imperial agent.

Is same sex romancing in game or to be added through future characters? Does male flirt alot as IMP agent? Does female flirt alot?

    Thanks

The gender of your character does matter to an extent but only, so far as I know, on the romance side of things. There are several threads discussing the significantly less flirt options for female toons. So yes, a male agent will likely get many more flirt opportunities than a female one.

Right now, same gender romance arcs are not in the game, however they are supposed to be added this year. We do not know if that story patch will also add same gender flirting and/or increase the amount of flirts available for females as a whole.

  20. I take it as a patch that will add in Group Finding and Cross-Server PVP (i.e., make it easier to find 'allies' to play through some content).

I'd guess the story patch would be the 1.4 one.

Agreed, particularly given the devs have confirmed that the group finder is in 1.3. Hopefully 1.4 is the one though!
