There was a thread yesterday about problems with quitters ruining the chances at getting daily/weekly pvp quest rewards. A couple of funny guys chimed in with trolls saying "Maybe you're losing because of you and not the quitters".
I am posting this to show how this problem impacts not only the people who stick it out but also the people on the other end. This happened in a game of Voidstar I played about 5 minutes ago.
I have a level 22 Scoundrel and we started out defending. The imperials made it to the second set of doors a crossed the bridge. When it was round 2 and the rescrublic was attacking, as soon as we made it acrossed the bridge enough imps quit to trigger a shutdown sequence. There were maybe 4 or 5 left on the imperial team at this point.
We almost got screwed on a shutdown sequence except that we got to the datacore with 2 seconds left on the WZ SDS, I estimate.
Had the imps stayed, they might have held us but they decided that since round 2 attackers automatically win on a tie, it wasnt worth it.
That is petty and it ruins the game and almost screwed over the team that actually played well. As far as I know if you get shut down there is no victory but please correct me if that is not the case.
We need a deserter penalty at some point and it needs to be intelligent. If you get dropped from a wz, or your game crashes or you alt-f4 out, you should be put back into the WZ when you rejoin just like how it works in other mmo games. If you use the menus to leave or afk out of the game, you get a penalty for however long is necessary.
