I wasnt even annoyed at losing fights, but rather that all anyone does is stand in one spot, pull one person in and kill him, rinse repeat. No one cares to try anything else. Id rather go play a sandbox where people think.

Well, I ragequite, unsubbed and deleted SWTOR after 2 hours of ilum yesterday. At a certain point it simply became a symbol of everything that is wrong with the game. And I wasnt even dying.

Im using entirely tank gear, though Ive got come centurian war leader armor now. I just dont see how some classes do 4000 dmg hits succesvily while im in heavy armor, shielded, good stats, AND all my skills going. And I can barely hit them.

What about 1v1 pvp? My experience as a fully tank spec guardian is that I get get killed in a few hits by some classes, like bounty hunters, and outmanuevered by some ranged classes. This could very well be my lack of skill and gear going up against hardcore pvper with champ gear.

Ok, continuing the stories, yesterday I popped into Ilum. First thing I saw was imps controlled everything, about 10 people standing in the Rep base, and a swarm of imps outside the rep base. No one was even bothering to fight. So I called out for a group of peopel to form a cap group and we went and took imp base, northern and central. Killed a few imps along the way. My small group didnt like to talk and I kept urging them to keep pushing south, but they preferred to just patrol central, killing a few imps. Eventually the zerg came and killed us all. I dropped that group, joined the main op, who was now standing around central single pulling the zerg, etc. Imps meanwhile had taken back other control points, so I left that group and went back to taking imp base and other abandoned spots on my own mostly. Nothing I said would force the main group of reps to stop standing in one place and zerg fighting. What fun.

Another good idea that will never happen.

Well I think the main issue is its simply not fun. No risk, little reward. Once you finish your daily, theres no point in staying, as the combat itself isnt fun. I dont imagine there is a way to make themepark pvp lasting fun. It does not have the action of a FPS, or the meaning of a sandbox.

I had some fun all weekend running Ilum on Republic. We simply form small groups and stay mobile, annoyings imps by taking their base unattended assault points, and picking off solos and small groups. Eventually, the sheep return to 'stand in one place and zerg vs zerg' but its fun for a while and easy to finish dailys. Unfortunatley, its still the same fight every day, no real excitement.

I managed to form a seperate group today and get them to run around taking assult points and picking off small groups of imps. Was fun for about an hour, then the group got too big and planted itself somewhere near a spawn point again. Again, when you can simply trade kills, theres no point to ilum.

Because they would have to design better.

What would be the point of going anywhere but where the zerg is? The purpose of ilum is to complete dailys and weeklies to get better gear to complete dailys and weeklys faster The only competition is which side gets its done first. Theres no defenses to capture, little point in controlling assaults, and dying at your base means you can be back in the fight in 5 seconds. Id say the game is working as designed (poorly).

Why cant they build in tools to allow GMs to dynamically change the game in real time? Hire someone to PLAY a boss, not just script the encounter. At the very least, they could copy Rift and have dynamic zone wide events which are scripted.

Class is only 10% of the content You would have to replay 90% of the game just to experience the class story. And it wasnt that great the first time. How many times can you make, go here, kill 10 rats, and come back, interesting? Or the same flashpoint, same warzone, same operations interesting after repeated runs?

For new people who have to deal with it. What about people whove already passed it? Why log in?

So what do you do after you beat that in one night? Just wait till june!
