  1. Thanks for your in depth argument. I might go with Guardian and Marauder but I am still thinking about Sage and Marauder.. I will have to reflect on this a bit more
  2. Basically I am planning to make a force sensitive grey/ dark Jedi. Similar to Darth Revan or others. I just can't figure out which Combat Style combination I want to go with. Since I mainly want to RP and do solo content I don't care about how viable each class is for endgame. I don't want a doublebladed lightsaber, so Jedi Shadow and Sith Assassin are out. I also don't care so much about not having lightning abilities. Please don't tell me that I should play what seems most fun to me, that really doesn't help. I wrote this down so that people who are also having a similar issue might find some needed insight. I also hope that this helps me making a choice I am happy with. These are the ideas I came up with: 1. Jedi Sage and Sith Marauder (Revan like?) Pro: The jedi sage abilities really make you feel like you are some really powerful force sensitive; You can RP as having one lightsaber and when things get serious you pull out your 2nd Lightsaber, give into the darkside and go into a melee rampage; You have basically the coolest combination of force powers ( Force Choke, Telekinesis (throwing boulders and other things), lifting people up, force pushing multiple people with Force Wave, Lightsaber Throw, Force Crush, Force Leap, Teleportation, making the ground tremble/ earth quake, short invisibility and some minor others); The Marauder also has Fury stacks which look cool, but might be a bit too much for a Grey Jedi (red aura makes you look like you are being consumed by the darkside) Con: The red Fury stack aura might also be seen as a con; You have no lightning abilities (if you don't count legacy abilities); The stance of the Jedi Sage looks bad and the melee animations of the Marauder look worse than the Sentinel and Guardian (less fancy and more brutish, might be a Pro for some); The class regeneration abilities look way worse than Inquisitor and Guardian (Sage "Meditation" is okay ish but Marauder "Channel Hatred" is just awful) 2. Jedi Sage and Jedi Sentinel (Ashoka ish Style) Pro: The jedi sage abilities really make you feel like you are some really powerful force sensitive; You can RP as having one lightsaber and when things get serious you pull out your 2nd Lightsaber and go Melee; You have alright Force Power combinations (Telekinesis (throwing boulders and other things), lifting people up, force pushing multiple people with Force Wave, Lightsaber Throw, Force Leap, Teleportation, making the ground tremble/ earth quake, short invisibility and some minor others); You have Passive Zen stacks which give you a blue Aura, that makes you look like you are a really powerful holy force user (kind of like as if you are one with the force); Sentienls "Introspection" is the coolest looking class regen ability (at least to me, it's basically Qui Gon's meditation pose in the fight against Maul, plus some cool visual extras, you can also charge your Zen Stacks which is really cool for RP); The Melee animations of Sentinel look really satisfying Con: You have NO Darkside Abilities and your char looks all Light (if you don't count legacy abilities, there you get Force Choke and Lightning); You have less interesting force powers than Combination Nr. 1 3. Jedi Sage and Jedi Guardian (Obi Wan ish Style) Basically the same Pro and Con as Combination Nr. 2, besides: Pro: The Stance is the best looking one in the game and the melee animations are fancy and satisfying (its basically Obi Wan's Combat style) Con: You only have 1 Lightsaber and no Zen stacks (no different color combinations like purple + red/blue and no blue aura); You have no short invisibitly but you get a single target force push 4. Jedi Guardian and Sith Marauder (Revan like?) Pro: Guardian Stance is the best looking one in the game and the melee animations are fancy and satisfying (its basically Obi Wan's Combat style); You can RP as having one lightsaber and when things get serious you pull out your 2nd Lightsaber and embrace the darkside; Fury stacks might be a bit too much but add to embracing the darkside (you get a red aura after fighting for a while); "Introspection" is the coolest looking class regen ability (at least to me, it's basically Qui Gon's meditation pose in the fight against Maul) Con: The red Fury stack aura might also be seen as a con; Marauder regen ability "Channel Hatred" looks awful; You have 2 Melee Classes; You don't feel all that strong in the force, because your character lacks lots of abilities like making the ground tremble (You have: Lightsaber Throw, single target Force Push, Force Choke, Force Crush, Force Freeze, Invisibility, Force Leap, some minor others) You have no lightning abilities and barely any telekinetic abilities (if you dont count legacy abilities... there you get a short force lightning and a couple rock throws) Possible other combinations: (I dont want to write them down in depth) 5. Sith Sorceror and Jedi Sentinel 6. Sith Juggernaut and Jedi Sentinel TLDR: What combat style combinations would you choose for a Grey JK/ Fallen JK (similar to Revan) and why. If you have some additional arguments/ pros and cons please list them. As this is mainly for RP purposes, endgame or meta arguments don't matter here (also no double bladed lightsaber).
  3. uhh well, "they" would come to realize that no one would buy their items then, because no one could afford them... so they will lower the prices eventually. That is how economy works (assuming "they" actually want to sell the items on the GTN and don't just put them their out of spite lol)
  4. "Then please look at my first post where I said that I think this solution would cause too many people to quit and as a result cause the game to shut down. " Yea I did see that you wrote this, so? The model neither wipes all your money nor does saying this statement over and over on the same post add anything for the solution? "As for flattening the playing field, five minutes after they did it someone would be on the forums asking them to fix the economy again because they still cannot afford whichever cartel item they want. And they would be even more insistant about it because BW has done it once already." No, logically speaking "they" would not, since now they could afford more things with credits on the GTN as before. And even if "they" wrote on the forum aynway, BW would/should just say no because the inflation issue has been fixed. Yea I agree if they did it like that and ignored half of the things I mentioned, then they would really ruin the game but one can only hope that they won't be so stupid.
  5. All this solution really does is flattening the playingfield a bit, so that the economy is not inflated anymore. Rich people like us will still be rich and you can still keep your wonderful cartel items/ coins but the less rich people have actually a chance to at least get close to your wealth without spending 1k worth of real world currency,, they would still have to spend a significant amount of ingame time to get as much money as you have. It doesn't seem like there are any better solutions than this one but if you know of one then I would be happy to hear it. I will definetly look into it. If you don't have anything of value to add to find a solution then please consider to refrain from commenting here.
  6. "What makes you think BW would adjust any of the costs? " Well, they would have to, to make the "fix" work and actually try to adjust the game a bit... If they don't then that is rather stupid, but I am not part of their company so that is on their own... "What could they offer me to compensate for taking my credits? Would that compensation be the same for everyone and how many would think it is worth it? [...] BW has proven that they will take items that were advertised as being one off or exclusive and making them available to other players." That I don't know... Just assume it is something really cool... maybe I will figure something out, but maybe not. Maybe you can tell me? Or maybe Bioware will figure something out. I am just trying to find solutions for the problems, sadly I don't have all the answers yet.
  7. To me it would be kind of common sense that the Studio would not just do that, if it isn't needed. When the economy is ultra inflated like now then it would be a good time to consider it. Gather feedback, start slow, see how people react and if it was enough then stop. If it wasn't and the people are not all against it then continue. "Especially after *three* such things?" It's just a model... maybe one update is enough.. maybe the community doesn't want the economy fixed.. these are all factors that I am lacking the data of to determine it's likelyhood. But since Bioware will have to gather feedback and data they won't take too much money away from everyone to the point where everyone quits (considering everyone would really quit to begin with)... which is why I said they will have to do it slow.
  8. GTN would cost less by default. Expensive things like Strongholds and some other things would have to be adjusted by bioware individually. The rest could stay the same since mission payout and farming should give you enough credits in the first place to amass wealth.. at least that is my thought
  9. I really did not forget that. I simply thought it's not worth noting since it is such an obvious consequence... My model leaves people like you especially with less and treats you in a sense unfair. Solutions often create new Problems. So what if Bioware found an ingame way to compensate people like you with something really cool with somewhat equal value? Something that only you could have. Would that please you? Considering you would still be rich, the eceonomy would be fixed and you also had something really cool to acknowledge the wealth you "had" with. Wouldn't that be pretty good?
  10. First of all, Player 2 should realize rather quickly, that his 3500 credits now are worth more than his 35000 credits before. The reason being that the money has more value i.e. he has more buying power... Second of all, farming 35000 credits again would not take long. So it would kind of look like this. Player 2: "Where are all my credits?? oh why is everything so much cheaper now? I can afford more stuff! Wow that is actually pretty cool. Shouldn't take too long to farm my money back anyway. Tbh if someone like player 2 would be really upset about that then idk, some people just don't want to be saved I guess lol
  11. That's like implying that apples and oranges are the same thing because they are fruits. If the toons were simple characters that didn't have a story, their own personality or things that made them unique to me, then no. I would not object. I would not play a game like this to begin with though.
  12. Wonderful, that is a really nice real world example and I am happy that you seem to think of this in a similar way. Would be happy, if a couple more people would be willing to sacrifice a bit of economic buying power to fix the economy and tried to view this from a different angle
  13. Again, my bad for not making this clear in the first place. The credit cap was only meant for the Credit update. So people could freely gain or lose money afterwards. In other words after the update anyone could spend money and fall below 3500 credits or somehow gain enough money again to pass the 10billion mark.
  14. "Equality in percentage reductions is not anything close to equality in terms of actual credit" Well of course not.... that is not the point. Money has only value because we give it value. Money is really nothing else than buying power. To "fix" an economy in the sense of inflation one could think of fixing buying power. Or more precise increasing consumer buying power. Essentially all my simple solution does is increase the value of money again by adding buying power to the people who don't have it while taking part of it from the people who have it. "Your proposal would cure inflation by imposing repeated draconian reductions and a completely arbitrary cap." My bad, I probably didn't make this clear enough in the post. The cap is only there for the money reduction update. The cap is not present in the actual game in my model. So people can still freely lose or gain money after the update as they wish/ can. "Edit: In this thread (and in others), some people have suggested that I am only "threatening" to quit if Bioware adopts what amounts essentially to a credit wipe. My response: Try me. I don't play poker because I don't bluff (I'm terrible at it); i.e., it's not a threat, it's a promise." This sounds a bit to me like a multi billionaire, who lost part of his money and became a multi millionaire, that he is going to hurt himself because he isn't feeling rich enough anymore... but idk maybe I am interpreting too much lol
  15. Interesting take. So this assumes that the majority of the player base is currently playing because of the amount of credits they have in their inventory? Then again this also assumes that the rich won't feel rich enough even after they still have 100millions of credits in their inventory... I mean I have seen a lot of people "cry" about how bad and inflated the economy is and how hard it is to gain credits without selling stuff in the gtm (since the actual in game mechanics like doing missions, killing mobs, etc., as far as I understood it, don't reward you with many credits). So your point is "don't do this because some players won't feel rich anymore, and people love the credits more than the actual game"?
