  1. Hi Folks, As a long-time player of the game, I wanted to address something that's been on my mind for a while. The website for TOR, which during beta and up until 2015 was updated quite regularly, has taken a hit in keeping current. You can find proof of this everywhere (from the latest game update being 3.2 to the "latest screenshots" section of the first page displaying content from a year ago). Holonet's Galactic History notwithstanding (I'd love to see it completed, BW, but I've almost given up hope on that one), we as a community are more than enough to get this website updated for all the new, potential and existing players to take advantage of. I think the first step is to note what currently exists on the website that needs an update, and then seeing where we can take it from there. I'd like to venture forth and get us started with a (partial) list of some of the top things I think we need to update: 1. Game Updates - Any new or potential player looking through the game updates section might believe the game stopped being updated years ago when we know that's simply not true. Starting with update 3.2, let's get this section updated up to the current 5.4! A few screenshots peppered within a changelog narrative should be sufficient for each update. It will show that the game is still seeing love from the developers years after release and might instill some (much needed) confidence in the hearts of current players. 2. Digital Expansions - Currently this re-routes the user to KOTET. I suggest we show every expansion the game has had up to now, subdivided into sections to show where the game has been and where it's going. Storytelling has always been a core component of the game and I think it should be reflected in the website portions dealing with story. 3. Planets, Operations, Flashpoints, Warzones - I don't think these have been updated in a LONG WHILE (level cap is still reflected as being 50). Adding Uprisings and KDY-style Flashpoints, not to mention story, master, hard-mode etc shows how much content there is available to the game and yet again entices new players and prospective players while informing old players. Same goes for Ops (most recent is Eternity Vault), Warzones (has the original 5 on it), and Planets (which is missing every planet from Makeb forward). 4. Straighter goes completely un-mentioned, as do Guild Flagships, Strongholds, Conquest, etc. 5. Events - Hasn't been updated in a while (this summer, making it much more recent than other parts of the site). I don't know about you, but I'd really like to stay on top of when the next Double XP weekend is, or (if they ever institute it) Double Command. The "events" they have in game could certainly use some work (I'm pretty sick of the random roll casino games, frankly) but that's a discussion for another thread. For the time being, we could certainly update these to reflect Q3-4 of the year. So that's where I'm at with the website revamp. I would really like to see it work and see the community get involved in making it ours. We play the game, most of us pay for it, but no matter what, we enjoy our time with it (ignoring the LOUD trolls who still spend their time in game despite "hating" the game so much). It may not do much to make the actual gameplay experience better, but its a start, and I think it will show BW that they still have a dedicated fan base who actively want to make the experience better (and more welcoming) to everyone!
  2. Hi, Sorry if anyone else already mentioned this. The new article on the Battle of Odessen contains a MAJOR SPOILER and no warning to the contrary. Maybe there's some way we can do something about this to prevent other people (like myself) who have yet to complete the latest chapter from finding out the spoilers contained therein?
  3. The update is much appreciated! Thanks for continuing to give us support!
  4. I love Star Wars. Honestly, even through all the bugs and problems, I love The Old Republic. From beta until last night, I played the game faithfully, taking an active role in the community who, among the faithful, loved the game like I loved it. Until last night, I played every class, fully enjoying their storylines and the masterful way the universe was crafted. Until last night, I watched a universe unfold for each of my toons, role playing them the way I've always wanted to role play a character in the Star Wars Universe. Until last night, I strode across the surface of every planet I touched, seeking to expose every piece of hidden lore I could discover. I admit, I will miss the game. But more than that, I will miss the experience. The thrill that gripped me at launch has been slipping ever since, and it wasn't until my final playthrough that I realized it couldn't go on. This loss of experience is ironic, since the game, as with any RPG, is a grind for experience points. The moment the game first booted up and I sat through each cinematic movie, choosing my first character carefully before proceeding the fully flesh out his character and motivations, I felt as though I hit a brand new threshold for what the MMORPG "experience" could bring. And I rode that wave of enjoyment since launch. But without significant new content, without fixes for the bugs we've seen since launch, and with the invasion of free-to-play "players" (I put them in quotations to make a point. They are not here to play the game like the rest of us do. They are here to steal what we have graciously paid for. And I resent them for it. If ever the devs see fit to give us a server for paid players only, I will come back) I find the experience lacking. I would like to sincerely thank the community for its support of the game, despite its many flaws. And I would like to thank the devs for putting so much time and effort into a game, even one which we know is nearing the end of its life. Thank you for a fun time. I look forward to the next star wars venture and hope we can all have fun there together.
  5. 1. Please tell us a little about yourself. Why do you want to be a part of the Czerka family? The long-standing tradition of Czerka is one that I would feel proud to be a member of. Czerka has made important contributions to biochemical engineering, organic material knowledge, and galactic history for hundreds of years. As one of the largest, and certainly most influential, galactic companies, Czerka has touched nearly every world, leaving its legacy to be felt by many future generations. I want to be part of this and feel that I could deliver a steadfast devotion not found in other applicants. 2. At Czerka, we pride ourselves on our accomplishments. Please name three of your accomplishments that you are most proud of. (Please do not include family milestones such as marriages or the birth of your children.) I have personally competed in over 200 war simulations with 68 confirmed kills, though my primary duties are medical. I was part of a strike team that re-claimed lost Rakatan artifacts for the Galactic Republic. My most proud accomplishment was breaking through the Jedi Trials and earning my lightsaber. 3. How did you go about achieving the accomplishments above. Would you say you would do "whatever it takes" for success? Absolutely. If there's one thing I feel strongly about, its being thorough. Once during my training, I was asked by two Jedi masters to spy on their padawans (that's Jedi-speak for 'apprentices'). Not only did I spy on them as asked, but I tricked them into giving me a rare lightsaber crystal, further accomplishing my goals. And I still told their masters of their failings. In that instance, I realized the power of being thorough and doing whatever it took to increase my own power. 4. Would you say you have a strong moral compass? Do you think this could get in the way of your job, should you be asked to do something...questionable? I think the job is the important part. If people always had to rely on a moral compass, where would the galaxy be? I think sometimes you just have to go for it, see what happens. Science won't wait on human (or whatever) morality and neither will time. Best to put those aside and focus on the research that can make the galaxy a better place. 5. You are about to enjoy our wide variety of complimentary cocktails and snacks, when you notice that your esteemed colleague's newest experiment is likely to break out of their confines while you are gone. How would you handle this situation? Let it. The best research on an experiment is see how it reacts in real world situations and workers are always replaceable. After the event, I would report my colleague's lack of control of their experiment to our superiors so they could properly deal with the offending staff member. As long as the research is safe and Czerka as a company gained something, that's the important part. Thank you for considering me for a position with Czerka. Please know that I am very eager to hear back from you regarding this position.
  6. You unlock a species by playing it to level 50 of any class or by purchasing the species with credits or cartel coins. This unlocks it for all future classes. I believe the credit cost is 1.5 Million and the Cartel cost is 475? But I might be wrong on the CCs. I prefer to unlock it with a 50 because it feels more authentic, but that's up to you. I'm not sure of the legacy requirement, but I do know that you need a 50 toon of the race you want to unlock for all the classes.
  7. My Lord; He that is holy and dark; who bound the will of the Jedi Revan; who has lived for far longer than any other Sith, Hi. I am your faithful servant, Darth Euphora. You might know me from my great deeds for the Empire, but I would not be fazed if these events went beneath your notice. I come to you today with a simple question. Along my travels, I have built up a hefty wealth (don't worry, my Lord, my companions and I buy only Empire-made goods) and I wish to have a place to lay my head. Simply put, my Lord, I would like an abode, a dark sanctum on Ilum or Alderaan where I can have a gate with some guards, a garden out front and a meditation room inside. I would like a bed more comfortable than that in my ship (no offense, my Lord, but the bed on my ship is something I would not lay my head upon even if I could... why can't I sleep on my ship?), and I would like a trophy case or something to display my many lightsabers from my time building up my power. I have a close friend, a bounty hunter, whom I sometimes use for jobs where I could use outside help. I even sponsored him in the Great Hunt, if this is familiar to you. My friend has trophies he would like to display, either in his ship, or in his own home. He is married, you see, and he and his wife (also his long-time travel companion) would like to raise little ones. Difficult to do when you have no home. And honestly, my Lord, who would want children running around on their ship? We both engage in space battles pretty often, in the name of the Empire. We would not wish to risk our children's health. Better they live somewhere planet side where they can be safe. These houses could be expensive, available to only the most powerful Sith Lords and even then they could be exclusive abodes, requiring materials from around the galaxy to complete. I am sure your many Darths would be happy to undertake this quest for their own piece of the galaxy. Think of the possibilities: - Guilds of Sith could form lairs from which they could collect their credits into great vaults, hold meetings and train together, exchange war stories and glory tales of the Empire's magnificent reign. - Singular Sith could also have their own, smaller homes, to raise families in, barracks to raise their own soldiers in (and skirmishes could occur between homes, encouraging a sort of Sith vs Sith play to keep the members of our order in tip-top shape), armories to keep sets of armor and weapons in, and meditation rooms. If a Sith were to engage in meditation, they could become 5% stronger when they again awoke [it could provide a 5% bonus to their abilities, similar to rested xp, but this would be for top-level characters who can no longer make use of rested xp]. - Our mighty Empire could take a cut of the sales, investing in our planet-side courses of action, with more expensive houses being found on planets of greater demand than those of lesser demand (for instance, a house would cost more on Ilum than on Balmorra). In exchange, the homes on Ilum would be larger, more opulent and provide greater bonuses to our Sith than those on home planets. In the end, my Lord, your Sith will be stronger and more ready to face down the threat of the Jedi simply by allowing us places to rest planet-side. Your forever faithful servant, Darth Euphora PS. Are you aware of a group of Revanites operating on Dromund Kaas? If you decide to eradicate them, any chance you could send one of their robes my way? They're just lovely.
  8. Hi fellow SWTOR users: I have a feed into the RSS channel of these forums on my computer's screensaver and it seems they are predominantly filled with people telling us why they've quit the game. I would like to tell you why I stick with it, given all the negativity. 1. The Community: My biggest gripe with the game is also the biggest reason for why I stay. For every 2 complainers, there is one who loves the game and gives the team the praise they deserve. We're outnumbered, but we stick with it. Yes, there's a lot to complain about. We don't get updates as frequently as we were promised; we don't have a good solution to all the PVP hackers; the cartel market effectively broke a lot of things for a lot of people; but there's still good here! There's an active community of players, the servers are (mostly) stable, fan fiction is still being written, RP servers rock because of the community and the toons are still fun to play. I have not had so much fun in the game as when I'm playing with a really good, really well geared group or when I'm helping noobs understand the intricacies of the content. 2. 1.7 and 2.0: Two updates worth looking forward to. The first expansion promises to be great, even though what we really needed was a new class and race or 2. The team is obviously working hard on the new content and is being careful not to alienate players with ridiculous, out-of-context lore (I'm looking at you, Galaxies, for introducing Zombies and hair-stylist wookies). Makeb looks great, instead of looking like more of the same which I know was a legit concern. Yes, the 5 levels added is a bit of a let-down. I know a 10-level jump would have been a great revitalization, but 5 newly crafted levels for each of our toons? Nothing bad there. And before 2.0, we have 1.7 to look forward to. A new in-game event should be great fun and the new Gree-centric armor that I've seen looks stellar. Maybe a little Tron-like, but not bad at all. The reputation system is incredible looking and was something I very much enjoyed grinding in WoW. I like that we have new titles to look forward to, though a tangible reward for getting to the top of Reputation chains would be awesome too. Or a reputation chain for each planet, which would also be awesome. 3. The Cartel Market: Ok, I know I listed this as a problem, but it is also a boon. I like being able to invest more than just time into my characters. While it slightly breaks the game (lets face it: a really rich player could just pump money into a toon and buy packs hoping for a white crystal drop. That's not cool.) it also offers new ways to improve it. And I have nothing against contributing money to the team more than what I pay for my subscription if it comes back to me through content. Again, that's just me enjoying being a member of an active community that cares about the property it spends time with. 4. My Characters: I love my toons. I do. I love their stories, I love their romances (though it would continue to be awesome to have SSR's in the game. Come on Bioware! If that Church in DC can do same-sex marriages, I'm sure it wouldn't kill you to throw it in a game) and I love getting mail from my married companions. I wish there was a way to really give back to them, but just that I get the occasional letter means something and stirs something in my heart. Strange though it may be, story-telling is, to me, where it's at. And that's the real reason I love my characters. They're as real as I want them to be thanks to the phenomenal story telling. So kudos on that one, BW. In closing, haters are going to hate. Its who they are. I have stuck with this game since pre-beta (I registered for the site when it launched and have happily followed it since then) and will continue to do so until the servers (inevitably, but hopefully not for a long time) shut down. My name is Zach and I play on Shadowlands. Come find me as my main! Dravyr - 50 BH Merc
  9. Remember when the developers would tell us information about what interesting things were happening in the game? Remember when updates came on Fridays, every week? Remember how we used to be kept in the loop about everything that was going on in terms of the production of the game? I miss that, BW. I love this game, I want to know what's going on in it. Tell me more and please, keep us updated. The worst thing you could do now would be to alienate all of those who have stuck by you during the myriad transitions.
  10. More than happy to have spent my time in SW:TOR. The community who continue to enjoy the game are fantastic, despite the griefers. To say that we've faced adversity in bringing our community together is nothing compared to what we've actually been through together. For all you others who have been here since beta, thank you for sticking by us! Here's to many more years of adventures in our favorite galaxy far, far away!
  11. Hi. I've never posted on one of these before, but I had what seems like a legitimate question which has thus-far been unanswered. Why hasn't this game come out for the Mac? I have friends who want to play with me but don't have PCs (as we PC games become more and more of a dying breed. Yes, I hate it too.) and the thing that is driving them away from the game is not the subscription cost. In fact, as professionals, many of us have the money to play the game with full subscriptions, but without a great PC with a better internet connection the game eludes many. So my question really is, has there been internal communications about bringing this game "multi-platform"? Other than that, let me just say (and I'm sure I'll get properly trolled for this) that I love the game and the class stories continue bringing me back time and again. The quality of the updates are wonderful: we who enjoy the game know that you put hard work into these updates and it shows. Thank you for your continued work and your dedication to SWTOR and the community.
