  1. Yeah, mid expansions you get rebalance. Expansion to expansion, you (generally) need to get it all again. I think that is the sticking point for most people. I was expecting to carry nothing over. New currency instead of tech frags. New tacticals with the current ones level locked to 79 and under (like the gear is). New set bonuses (though those are will be legendary items in 7.0 of course). In previous expansions, you vendored your old gear. I don't remember what it would vendor for, but it wasn't a lot. Or keep it for leveling if you want. I do find it amusing that you can vendor it now for more than they are going to give you. That seems silly. Though I think if they announced that everyone was going to get 6800 credits rather than 100, the outcry would be the same. The fact that I can keep ANY of the tacticals is a bonus for me. The fact that you can go into the new expansion with a currency maxed out is really nice.
  2. I think they should just remove them and the players get nothing, but that is just me. I also think they should have disabled buying them on the vendor in the last week if they knew they were going away (same thing with the nightmare crystal schematic). Or at least a pop up that warns you that the item will be doing away in a week. But they didn't. We saw tacticals get rebalanced in 6.0. And set bonuses. BiS set for a sorc healer changed. If a legendary gets its effect changed mid expansion, that is fine. To be honest, I am surprised that any tactical is staying around. I figured they would but a level limit on it and we would need to repurchase them. Usually gear doesn't get to stay around from expansion to expansion.
  3. I was agreeing with you about WoW losing subs, not sure why you seem so angry about it. And yes, all of those reason likely are related to why they are losing subs. I get that you are trying to show that the path WoW went down is a cautionary tale. And I agree. I want SWtOR to have lots of players too. I just don't see the changes (specifically the removal of these tacticals) as a reason that SWtOR is going to go down the drain. I can't tell you why people unsub, but I would imagine that the aged engine (causing lag, desync, etc) and the slow content drip would be more likely. I know those are the things that bother ME the most! Bioware likely does as I think you can put down a reason you are cancelling your sub. With regards to titanforging, I don't want to get into WoW on a SWtOR forum any more than we already have. My post is already way off topic and I don't want to derail the thread anymore that I already did. Only reason I am here is because I wanted to give the devs some feedback to balance some of the negativity. I know a lot of players that don't post in the forums, generally I am one of them. My super anecdotal evidence with people I know who play the game but don't post here says that the expansion has some issues, but it isn't nearly as bad as forum goers seem to think. I guess we will find out once the expansion drops and what the population looks like. I do think that players should at least play the expansion before the declare it dead or bad. I played the PTS to get the rewards and I enjoyed my time with it. Good luck.
  4. I am not going to go point by point on this, but I will try to respond. This is getting a little outside the specifics of removing the list of tacticals, but I will try to keep it on target. Going to ignore most of the stuff not related to the items being removed. Part of removing most of those tacticals is trying to help balance the classes. Not sure if they will be successful, but we will see. Part of the reason is that the tacticals effects are being baked into the class (as options usually). Player choice and class balance need to both be considered when doing anything. Jackie did respond with some more info though I don't think it really helped. I guess we can agree to disagree that 1 million credits is a lot. My view is that credit sinks in general are a good idea. Though I will disagree that it isn't about me. It is. And it is about you, and every other person who plays the game. It is the reason I posted here at all. There is a ton of negative responses and I felt the need to provide a different perspective and a reminder that not everyone is feeling negative about this. Hope is me playing on the PTS and feeling positive about what I saw. It wasn't perfect, but very little is. I don't really want to get into WoW, but Titanforging was a bad system. It has also been hemorrhaging subscribers for a long time for a number of reasons. I have played on and off for a few expansions. I am not subbed right now (even though there is new content since last time I played) because of the company, not the game (IE Activision is a bad company that I don't want to give money to). I saw this thread before the moderator got up this morning. Some of it was... not pretty. And that is being generous.
  5. Couple of thoughts about this. Many of the tacticals that are being removed are being baked into the class. Some are likely being removed to assist with class balance. I don't see anything objectionable here though. Go to sleep will be missed I guess, but you can still run 4 stealth classes and just stealth by everything. Or take the 15 seconds and kill the mob. Does it suck that they are removing them and only giving back 100 credits. Yeah. But no matter when they were going to do this, someone would be unhappy. And really, 1 million isn't a huge amount of credits. The entire point to all the gear being legacy bound is that you can share it across your legacy. Not sure why you would need to purchase more than 1 or 2 of a given tactical, but that is on you. The devs made it easy to not have to buy a ton of the same gear. For my DPS and heal toons (15 or so that I play regularly) I have a single set of left side gear. And just a reminder, a lot of players don't post in the forums. I almost never do. Mostly because every thread turns into the same arguments with the same dozen people. These forums are an echo chamber that makes reddit look sane. So don't assume that just because there are a dozen or so pages on this topic that the majority of SWtOR players don't support this. Or even care on way or the other. Since I probably won't be posting anywhere else, I guess I will express that I am hopeful that 7.0 is good and I am excited. I did play on the PTS and the gearing was really easy. Certainly needed some tweaks (tech frags were noticed and addressed). I am sure that class balance is going to be terrible the first few weeks, but it generally is at the beginning of any expansion.
  6. Is it possible that everyone is reading this a bit wrong? If you look at what they said, I think that this is an important statement. Then you get this. I take this to mean that doing a Veteran Mode FP can upgrade your gear up to a point. IE it will upgrade your lowest irating item up to 320. However if you already have 320 gear or higher, you get currency for future upgrades. I can't look at the vendors on the PTS, but I do see that Conquest Vendor requires armor fragments. Can't see the upgrade path since I don't have anything to upgrade, but it would make sense that you could use those armor fragments to upgrade past 320. It gives a path for all players. If you want to skip VMFP's and go straight to HM ops you can get better gear faster. But if you want to grind out a million VMFP's and get the currency, that is cool too. I am not sure one way or another, but I do think capping casual (story?) players isn't the right move. Having them on the gear treadmill will keep them playing too. Having the hardest content be the fastest way to get gear isn't wrong though. I do think that there is a ton of negativity on this thread and I wish people would stuck to giving feedback rather than ranting at the changes. As someone who plays every aspect of the game (PVP, NiM, story, FP's, etc), the gearing is fine. I do see why people are concerned. I also can see that the devs are trying to balance the gear treadmill around many different playstyles and I do think it is a case of trying to make everyone happy and I don't think there will ever be a gearing system that will do that.
  7. So 2 guildies and I queue for a random HMFP. I am tanking with my guildies as a healer and a DPS. We get Umbara which I HATE especially as a tank. Zone in, clear through the first boss with no issues. Walk around to the bonus boss who I face pulled since the add was right around the corner. No worries. We didn't get a chance to discuss, but one add dies and after the third aggro drop the boss absolutely mauls the pug who apparently didn't even have a chance to use a defensive. I am guessing it was from standing in the conal, but I wasn't paying too much attention to them. We clean up the boss, rez and move on to the second boss. I hate tanking this boss. No matter how good or bad of a tank you are, there is no way to keep it on you. He drops aggro too often. No one dies, we kill it and start to move on. This is where things get weird. The pug asks for a guard. Now I generally don't bother with guarding in MMFP's. I very rarely find a random player that can pull aggro. I ignore it, but my healer mentions that the boss drops aggro as part of his mechanics. Pug responds that he got aggro on the bonus boss as well. Which is also the mechanic. I still ignore him and move on. Cleared trash to the last boss and pull. Adds don't die, healer gets overwhelmed and dies first followed by the rest of us. Respawn and try again with a similar result. The pug asks for guard AGAIN. My response is that the adds need to die. He really pushes so I do guard the healer for the 5% DR for whatever its worth. We pull, same thing happens. The pug is now ranting in chat about me needing to guard literally anyone to which I said I did guard the healer and that it didn't help. I also said that the healer is dying first because the adds aren't dying fast enough. He is ranting enough and clicked no to the ready check twice (since I didn’t guard him) that we just vote kicked him and requeued. The replacement was a level 70 Sage with 28 IR gear. We decide that it’s not worth it and bounce. The adds on the last boss on Umbara are TOO spread out. There is no way to get aggro on them all when they are the ranged one. I hit the ones that spawn near me, pull in another one. If we have 1 DPS that tunnels the boss and the other DPS is a balance sage... well the healer is going to die before the adds do. And really, a concentration sentinel has 2 long leaps and a short one and transcendence (which we didn't see the entire run) and nasty burst. Those ranged adds should be dead quick. But when they don't die and you get several sets of adds together, there isn't much you can do. We did get to sub 10% each time, but that last set is absolutely brutal when a DPS isn't focusing them. It’s amazing to me how bad some players are and how good they think they are. A clear lack of understanding of aggro and the guard mechanic. It doesn't matter who I guard. If no one is hitting an add, it’s going to the healer. And with how spread out the ranged adds are in that fight it’s hard to do when you have a single dot specced DPS trying to kill them all. But wait, there's more. I just need 1 more MMFP for my weekly so we queue up for hammer station to get it done. Zone in and clear up to the first boss. Jump down the cliff, I ready check while people are still running up the tunnel, pug DPS pulls as I am jumping down. If this was any other night, I probably would have taunted off him, but coming off of the last debacle... I told the healer to not heal him and we let him die. The dead commando drops group immediately and says something to the effect of we were moving too slow (!!!!) and that we can't keep up to him. I /wave and add him to my ignore list. I get that it is just hammer station. And it isn't big deal. But my philosophy is that if you pull it, you tank it. We finished it with no issues (it’s just hammer station!) in less than 10 minutes. Blows my mind that a DPS can't wait 2 seconds to make sure everyone is in the room. Instead they have to wait for the GF lockout and then wait for a queue to pop at 11ish at night.
