  1. That's all I hear on general chat in warzones, and the patch notes seemed to confirm it. I PLAY an Arsenal merc, and I was fooled too. Lol.
  2. *rolls eyes* Go back to playing Minecraft.
  3. OK I went back and re-read. And it finally clicked (your explanation helped a lot too.) In this case, i look to 1.2 with more optimism than before.
  4. The current patch notes for 1.2 state the following: - Tracer Missile has been rebalanced in order to encourage more active gameplay rotations. It now generates 16 Heat, has a 2-second activation time, and deals approximately 10% less damage. and if that wasn't a kick to the balls, there's also: - Power Shot has been rebalanced. It now generates 16 Heat, has a 2-second activation time, and deals approximately 10% less damage. So BioWare has decided to bow to the crying in the game, and Mercs get further nerfed. Wipe those tears, you won.
  5. I LOL'd when the Star Wars minigame came up on his monitor. Then I got a childhood flashback that made me feel old.
  6. I am so sick of hearing people complain about "tracer missile spam." Go play a BH Mercenary, Arsenal class. Go on, I'll be here waiting for you. Their entire top-level skill tree revolves around the tracer missile. It stacks armor debuff 5x, and then other abilities come into play to capitalize on that. Now, read this next part carefully: That's how it's designed to be. I can't say I necessarily like needing to spam one ability 3-4 times before moving on to other moves, but that's what's most effective. That's why Mercs do it. To quote Eminem, "Hey, there's a concept that works!!" Now I hear TM is going to get a longer channel time in 1.2, which makes me sad. Because it isn't going to decrease its use. It will still be needed. All it's going to do is make the BH merc "squishy" class even more.... squishy. Like Jell-O squishy. So I'm sure you'll all get your revenge on us then, while we run around like chickens with our heads cut off because our class' DPS was just circumcised. While we're on this topic, let me ask you: If I killed you with DPS spread evenly over 4-5 different abilities, would you be satisfied then? Or would threads then be full of QQ about how "OP" the Merc class is? Food for thought.
  7. I probably already know the answer to this, but is there a way to log in without everyone knowing? As it stands, I can /friend someone, and I instantly know their log state, whether or not they friended me back. If I ignore a player, will he still know when I come and go? How can I get privacy in that regard?

    Roots and Resolve.

Roots must be added to resolve. Snares, no. For all of the excellent reasons everyone has cited above. If the BW goes the other way and makes the resolve bar fill up too fast from these abilities, then they will rarely be able to be used, and thus fail to fulfill their intended purpose; which is to keep a player in range of more attacks, or keep him away from you.

    Too much CC in PvP

Every game that utilizes different playable classes/races that counter each other in a balanced way is successful. Most classes' CDs of their stuns/roots is far shorter than their CC breaks. This allows for a lot of stuns flying around. Too many. But not all classes stuns affect the (useless) resolve bar the same way. I can be hit with a long-term stun effect, and my resolve bar isn't full. But if i shoot a 4-second stun at an enemy, their resolve bar is 5/6ths of the way full. Huh? I've gradually noticed this while grinding PvP. Throw in roots, force chokes, and other things that effectively immobilize a player, and PvP in SWTOR goes from fun and action-packed to "who's got the most stuns cooled down and ready to go." Some games of Huttball look like stop-animation scenes, with all the stun effects flying around. Personally, I detest it. That's just my opinion. I know some people think it's fine. For me, I want free-flowing action, not watching my health bar drain faster than Lindsay Lohan's glass, because I've got a minute left on my only CC break. More often than not, I'm hit with a barrage of stun/root abilities while in the middle of a PvP match. My eyes flick towards my resolve bar, and it either 1) isn't full yet, or 2) is draining rapidly. And more often than not, I find myself thinking, "How is my resolve not full yet?" or "I can't believe it's going down that fast!" It's way too much. I would be thrilled to see any one of these changes: a) Shorten the long-term stun's duration across the board. b) Equalize how it affects the resolve bar, on all classes. (i.e. fix the damn resolve bar). c) Perhaps even straight-up remove it from some classes (I'm not about to suggest which classes and start a war. I personally play a BH Mercenary Arsenal tree, and would be content with only my 4-second stun dart). d) "Root" abilities needs to affect resolve. I am not positive if it does already or not? If so, it needs to have a bigger impact than it already does. Between being choked, stunned, or rooted in place, PvP is a lot less free-flowing than it otherwise could be.
  10. There will always be bigger issues. It will be a LONG time before we see half this stuff corrected. Well, back to PvP grinding!
  11. Quite disappointing. I really enjoyed collecting codex entries and reading lore as I played my character through missions, and am making it a point to go back and find everything, now that I hit level 50. I'm definitely a game completionist, and thought it would be awesome to max every discovery. Only to discover there's a huge portion of codex entries that are sadly missing, or never completed. You can google some to your heart's content, and they are just strangely absent. Really, BioWare? If you're not going to finish putting an entry in so we can find it, then remove it from the list.
  12. I have the same dilemma... I forget what I used when I was playing WoW, but there was a website where I'd look up an item, and find out who dropped it, where, and what drop chance % it was. Then I'd grind the hell out of it until I got my item. Here, I'm looking for particular things. Not just flashpoint drops, but where certain augments or mods drop, for example. I've found a dozen databases that tell me what the mod is and what stat it gives, but they don't say squat on where that item can actually be found in the game. If the GTN doesn't have it, then you're SOL. Useful database links I've found are http://www.tor-loot.com, and db.darthhater.com. And torhead.com of course. But none of these help me find the item. They only confirm that it exists, and that i want it
  13. So if I'm close enough to them, I can passively reveal them? Guess that was my problem, I was standing still stealth scanning, puzzling over something I've never seen before. BTW, someone said in chat that the stealth scan won't reveal them. True/False?
  14. I'm lookin' for some info on how I can detect a Jedi Shadow as a Merc/Arsenal BHer. In the field, I attacked a Shadow a few levels below me, and he stealths out. We're on a narrow walkway, and I'm using Death from Above, Stealth Scan, and Sweeping Blasters, to see if I can knock him out of stealth. This was actually the first time I encountered a Shadow, and didn't know if these would actually hit him, if he was in the target radius. I thought later of using Flamethrower, and didn't know if Jet Boost would affect a stealthed target or not. Long story short, he would pop out of stealth long enough to hit me with a CC, and pop back in. Finally got a great opening hit on me, which pretty much sealed my fate, even though I fought all the way. 5 minutes later, he tries to gank me this time, only I was a tad more prepared, and laid down the hurt, until he got to about 25% health. Then he just jumped down a stairwell and stealthed again. Never did find him. So...any counter tactics for BH Mercs, that work well on pulling Shadows out of their cute stealth?
