  1. I just tried to log into Star Forge and got the notice my characters are temporarily unavailable. Now as for the person complaining about not getting what they paid for, I would like to point out that SWKTOR is one of the most popular MMORPG games today, so when there are updates and new patches done, you can expect to have some bugs pop up. There is another possibility for the latency and server issues. If SWKTOR is leasing server space from a company that does just that, builds server farms and lease space, it is possible that server complex is being inundated with user requests, which causes problems for all companies leasing server space on those farms. Now granted, my knowledge of such problems are a good 12 years out of date, but at one time I did work at one of those facilities, and there were times when the bandwidth for those servers were overwhelmed. Another point, I use Hughesnet for my internet service, which some may not know, is satellite internet. I have seen no problems with any performance issues playing the game prior to today after the most recent patch, and so far the only issue is that my characters are 'temporarily unavailable' and long wait times in a que.
  2. Actually, it would be nice if, after hitting legendary player status, you could start a toon as a jedi (for example) and after typhon go rogue and hit dromand kas, or go smuggler or whatever. Running the same story line over and over is a bit boring
  3. by all means YES, I mean it looks like the toons have a serious case of some alien mutated dandruff.
  4. I attended the local showing with two local radio personalities and a physics professor from the local college. Also attending were some officers from the local pd simply because the theater manager was afraid that there might be some problems if all tickets sold out (the fact that the theater has 10 screens and could have put the movie on all ten, seemed to have slipped the manager's mind.) Our goal was to ask the fans some very basic questions concerning the physics of star wars. By the time that everyone got into the theater, two of the four officers were accusing us of trying to start a riot, because the local star wars geek community seemed to get nearly violent trying to explain how you can 'stop' a concentrated light beam 3 feet from the source and basically make it react like a solid. Of course, I am the type of person that will point out the technical and historic flaws in movies like Pearl Harbor, Titanic (Rose let her lover drown, that piece of debris could have held them both) and lets not even mention the fact that Mal's pistol when fired in the vacuum of space would have sent poor Mal bouncing off anything and everything behind him. But hey, the movies require some suspension of belief, and the complete ignoring of the basic laws of physics. And it is fun to rattle the cages of some of the costumed nut jobs that show up at the local premiers of star wars movies.
  5. I have noticed that during the standard story lines, we have npc's who are not following the player path, a jedi who is an admiral, sith who are part of intelligence, or the Imperial military with appropriate ranks. So, I would suggest that once a player does hit legendary status, new characters they start be given a choice as to which path to follow, rather than playing the same old story again, and again, and again. Basically creating the option for dual class characters, such as the old dungeons and dragons rpg and the baldur's gate computer version. Now granted, this does entail some major coding, but the unlock would be little different than what is already applied for legacy and cartel with the exception that the multi class would not be available in the cartel store. I would even think that it would be interesting to see a jedi be able to 'defect' to the other side, and vice versa.
  6. After running through all the story lines for all the classes, it has occurred to me that perhaps a change in what story lines a new character could follow after a player hits legendary level. We have the rescue of a Jedi Admiral for the republic toons, which clearly indicates, at least for npc, that a jedi could join the republic military. So why not, once a player has hit legendary status, allow a new character creation that would allow a change of service (or even resigning from service for that matter) after the base story arc is finished. A jedi could opt to go republic military and run the arcs for Vanguard or Commando. A Commando or vanguard could resign after Ord Mantel because of disillusionment and go rogue, as a smuggler or merc. On the sith side an assassin might go as an operative And so forth. As it stands now, there really does not seem to be much in the way of rewards for hitting legendary status.
  7. Admittedly, this theory was developed while at the local ER with a swollen knee, a load of pain killers in my system and as an effort to avoid the obvious fact that a 57 year old does not have the body or abilities he possessed 30 years ago. And the fact my niece thinks it is funny as hell to record the opioid induced theories of a guy with a masters in history. So, with that in mind, please continue. Seriously, the vaunted Jedi order is actually the most manipulative evil group in the game. Kera even makes it clear, Jedi can only be married if: The council approves And the both were raised within the order. And they can only be together on Typhon. Now as a student of history, this is clearly an example of eugenics, or for those who dont like big words, selective breeding. Which begs the question, just what is the ultimate goal of the Jedi? And while the Jedi claim that they do not govern, ever notice how they are quick to 'recommend' the course of government? And of course, the order is even faster to deny 'undesirables' access to force training, remember the flesh raiders, or the Voss? Where the Sith are openly passionate, and make their goals known, the Jedi operate in secret, covertly manipulating the course of events to suit them. And of course, not content to allow people to follow their true nature, the order makes it abundantly clear that they have but one ultimate goal the destruction of the Sith order, and the empire. Clearly the Jedi need to call all the order back to Typhon, break out the beer and hard liquor, invite the Sith and have a good old fashioned no holds barred party. Seriously, a few days of drinking and debauchery would loosen everyone up. Of course, the fact that many of the Sith lords have the body build of junk food addicts, the chance that many of them getting any action is slim to none, but there is always the beer google effect working in their favor. Now, the resulting morning after collective embarrassment (how many of the older players have spent a night bar hopping and clubbing to wake up with some stranger next to them and asking the question, 'just what the hell did I do last night and who the hell is this?" And to really make my point, how many would like to see Satelle Shan having a coyote ugly moment?
  8. I have seen stuff like this happen before on other games, not uncommon, and usually ends up being located in about 3 lines of coding in the updates. Give em time to get it right, which is much better than logging on and suddenly the game goes south and you end up locked out or lose everything.
  9. The banner date is for Oct. 24... However in the body of the message, the information is that they will be taking the server down on Tuesday, Sept. 19. Now, if they are planning to rerun the 19th, I wish to protest since I spent most of that day in the ER with badly wrenched knee, and while the pain killers administered were decent, I would like to not repeat that day at all. I therefore formally request the people that are planning on working on the servers to pick another day or just not mess around with the temporal time line in any fashion.
  10. Considering how many times my sith force users are asked to 'give up the darkness' as well as the jedi having chances to 'redeem' sith force users, I have but one suggestion. Work it into the game where a jedi can fall to the dark side or a sith can 'see the light.'
  11. To whom it may concern, since it is clear you fail to see the necessity of providing coffee makers in any of your designs, I have decided that I am going to remove the teeth of everyone associated with your department with my light saber, by way of the orifice from which you eliminate solid waste matter from your bodies. Have a nice day.
  12. I was thinking it would be nice if classes that were not actually government agents, i.e technically independent of their respective governments, had the option at some point to purchase ships other than the ones assigned for the story line. I would also like to see a way to 'defect' from one empire to the other, even if it means a loss in level and retraining.
