  1. You're not alone. A lot of other players have complained about the same thing but it's fallen on deaf ears with BW. You'd think if they really didn't want to get rid of level sync they'd at least make that mission its own instanced zone. Who cares if you need to go through a loading screen? It'd be worth it for a good fight.
  2. There were a couple, yes. I just played through Quesh again tonight on a Trooper and didn't get any companion influence from conversation choices. It does appear to be broken.
  3. Someone on the forums the other day remarked that Ashara wasn't getting any conversation influence from Quesh, either. Guess someone buggered the whole planet after 4.0.
  4. It doesn't have to do with any of the decisions you made during the game. It's all about how Quinn justifies his own decision to stay loyal to Baras. He had to come up with reasons not to sway from his course, even if he knows deep down he's backing the wrong horse.
  5. Anyone mention that decision on Ord Mantell where you can choose to give the medical supplies to the injured, starving, homeless refugees or the soldiers and it's a Dark Side choice to return them to the troops? You can always tell when someone from the military's playing through OM and comes across that one. General chat lights up with "***!?" Darn that BW, making moral judgements for us...
  6. I think it's pretty safe to say there's something screwy with your game. Ashara definitely reacted to conversation options on Quesh when I last played an Inquisitor, so if she isn't then you have an issue. Sadly, I don't know how anyone other than a BW representative can be of help. Companions have been pretty buggy since the KotFE changes. If you haven't submitted a bug report already then you should. Even though their reps move at a snail's pace, they will eventually get to you. In the meantime it might be best to play another character. Raising influence by feeding companions gifts is kinda boring.
  7. Zuko was never as big a threat as Azula was to begin with, and his obsession with gaining the respect of his father the Fire Lord just made him weak. Clearly they intended to make Azula, the crazy prodigy, the main threat to Aang's Alliance all along. All her mommy issues fuel her hatred and make her more powerful! Wait... this is a Star Wars story? *flips through the script*
  8. I only got a new PC about a month and a half ago. Before that I was playing on a machine that was top of the line... 9 years ago. I got all the datacrons for my Legacy except the Jawa balloon on that old fossil and it was NOT. FUN. So, on behalf of the poor sods everywhere who aren't fortunate enough to be able to play on a good machine, I fully endorse this. Jumping is a useful mechanic in a MMO but trying to do this Super Mario crap on an older PC is just torture. It should go.
  9. You're going to have to elaborate. Which doors are you talking about in what part of the mission? Keep in mind the GEMINI ship has a lot of floors. If you can't proceed through a door or something look for places where you can jump down to the level beneath you.
  10. Koth never left in my play through. He's still with the Alliance and had a significant part in the GEMINI Deception. But, yeah, it does seem like he and Lana have a past together that goes beyond casual allies.
  11. I'm going to attempt to be a spoiler-light as I possibly can here. You really should play through the storylines to get a better idea of the context I'm speaking from. By the end of the Trooper storyline Havoc Squad has accomplished so much that they're essentially Republic celebrities, officially recognized for their valor by the senate and the Jedi council. That reputation persists through the Makeb nonsense. Circumstances change during Shadow of Revan, though. By that time some two years, I think, has passed after the end of the Trooper class missions. When Revan's forces threaten both the Empire and the Republic they decide to collaborate in a joint alliance. This is where the whole collaboration idea starts. During the Trooper-only side quest you learn that Havoc Squad is so notorious under your leadership that they can no longer function as a covert special forces group the way they were originally intended. During the time fighting against the Revanites you earn the respect of the Imperials as an effective leader. They already respected you as a combatant. Because the leadership of both camps, effectively Satele Shan and Darth Marr, could not be trusted by both sides you become the focal point of the alliance due to mutual respect, even if you flaunt your "Imps are scum" dialogue choices. So, you might be a die hard Republic soldier but SoR pretty much forces you to command Imperials at the same time. When KotFE starts they call on you again to try to unite forces against yet another galactic threat which neither side can face on their own. There's another time lapse of several years during which time both sides have gone to pot and you have to pull their coals out of the fire. Everyone remembers how well you did against Revan and they trust you to lead yet another alliance. The writers pretty much force you into this position, so there's not much you can say about it. I know, it's kind of awkward, especially if you play a Smuggler. The story makes you a hero for both factions, though.
  12. Sadly, not at all. As the Trooper storyline progresses you get even more embroiled in Republic politics than ever. It's pretty difficult to pretend you're just a mercenary when you're reporting directly to a General who has an office in the Senate tower and have hearings before senate tribunals. Also, the ending is pretty inflexible, regardless of your alignment choices, sadly. The Imperial Agent storyline really spoils the player. The Outlander's story is pretty generalized and takes place a few years after the end of Shadow of Revan. You are part of a joint alliance against a common foe, so you can't really play the mercenary angle there, either. Your allegiance to the Republic military does get some attention in Chapter 11 and there are some interesting choices there but you're pretty much forced to be a main participant in the alliance. There's really not any wiggle room for saying, "I'm just a hired gun here!" All that being said, what you think in your head canon is pretty much up to you, especially if you Roleplay. Build up your character how you want there.
  13. No, it just made one particular style of it so immensely popular that most proceeding MMOs decided to emulate it in order to try to achieve the same popularity. I'm not defending WoW at all, just pointing out facts. MMOs were never a hugely popular style of gaming until WoW came out. No previous MMO had ever pulled in the number of subs that WoW did in its prime or really since. It's to be expected that other companies would try to imitate what they saw as a winning formula. That's business. Look at car companies. One company comes out with a new model and every other company comes out with something almost identical because they realize that the pool of car buyers is limited. They want to steal as many prospective buyers from that pool as they can. The result is a whole lot of cars that look and drive ridiculously similar despite the brand logo on them. Even if the buyers are unenthusiastic about how they look and drive, oh well. That's all that's out there, so deal with it.
  14. As a side character he was fine. I would have thought him pretty interesting if I'd just gotten involved in his vendetta on Hoth then moved on once I was finished with the planet. As a Companion he just... doesn't fit. Much like Xalek he's all "Raar, angry, kill for Sith!" with no actual substance or interesting aspirations / back story, unlike the other Warrior Companions. Even dirt bag Quinn's story is fairly intriguing. It's just my personal opinion, so don't take it to heart. If you like Broonie, that's great. I know a lot of people who inexplicably think Xalek is the best Companion in the game. To each his own!
  15. Jedi Knight Best: Kira Worst: Rusk Jedi Consular Best: Tharan and Nadia tie Worst: Zenith (not bad, just underdeveloped) Smuggler Best: Guss Worst: Bowdaar (that's going to make me unpopular but he's got very little personality and his story is just repetition) Trooper Best: Dorne Worst: Yuun Sith Warrior Best: Vette Worst: Broonmark (why is he even a companion, seriously?) Sith Inquisitor Best: Talos Worst: Xalek (see notes for Bowdaar, multiply by 100) Imperial Agent Best: Lokin Worst: Vector (not a bad character, just kinda... doesn't fit the story) Bounty Hunter Best: Blizz Worst: Skadge (see notes for Broonmark)
  16. Don't people ever get tired of posting threads like these? If you don't like a game the clearest way you can let the developers of it know is to unsubscribe and / or stop playing. Go play something else.
  17. It's been a loooong time since I finished the Smuggler story but I believe it didn't get into my inventory until after I started Chapter 2. You finish Chapter 1, do all the cut scenes for it, then get sent to the Fleet to get your pointless reward, then get sent back to your ship to start Chapter 2 (that's how they did it before 4.0). After you do those Cut Scenes, I believe that's when you get Torchy. I could be remembering it wrong, though.
  18. I'm about 85% solo. I've got a friend who I duo with on occasion but he hasn't really been into SWTOR for a while. The times we play together are few and far between. Other than that, I roleplay a bit but that's pretty much the extent of my grouping. You don't really need to group for Heroics anymore or most Flashpoints, I don't enjoy PvP, and I don't raid. *shrug*
  19. I've never seen the word Pub used as a game term. I know pug was being used back in 2003, though, when I first started playing MMOs. People in FFXI used it all the time.
  20. Sounds like there's something wrong with your install. You should try to run the repair utility and see what that does for you, but you definitely have some kind of issue. Settings, unfortunately, can't be saved, so those will need to be redone. Your keybinds are saved server side, so that shouldn't be an issue. Your UI, once you've recreated it, is saved in an .xml file and stored in this directory: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\SWTOR\swtor\settings\GUIProfiles . As soon as you're in game and have it set up the way you want it, go into that folder and copy the .xml somewhere safe. If you have issues again you can always just replace it. AppData is a hidden directory by default so you're going to have to switch your preferences in Windows Explorer so you can see hidden files. I have to reiterate, though, there is definitely something wrong with your install. Nothing should be resetting when you play and you definitely shouldn't be getting stuck at the loading screen. I've been playing since early beta and even moved to a new PC recently and my UI hasn't changed since the day I set it up. Definitely run your repair utility.
  21. We who enjoy playing SWTOR dodged a bullet. Can you imagine having someone as picky as OP in your party or guild? Whew! Hope you find the perfection you seek, OP. Also, your PC's sound is borked, so you should probably look into that...
  22. Mako's scripted to behave that way. She won't admit to being attracted to the BH until pretty far into her personal storyline simply because she believes it's bad policy to mix business and relationships. It takes a long time (like, Chapter 3) for her to finally open up to the idea, so be patient with her and just keep flirting. She'll come around. Also, BW changed the way vanilla Companions dole out their personal missions when KotFE came out. They're now scripted to be available only after you reach a certain point in your class missions, so having high influence won't necessarily make them talk to you right away.
  23. Yeah, the writing for the Inquisitor storyline is pretty awkward in a lot of places. The writer was one of the new hires at BioWare as far as I recall. The former apprentices of a Sith Master following her senior apprentice after she dies isn't really all that strange. Zash is nothing if not adaptable, though. She knows very well that you're her best hope and that her knowledge makes her very valuable in your newly vulnerable position. Nobody's really going to risk their neck for you against Darth Thanaton and she knows it. It doesn't hurt her at all to seem to be accommodating.
