  1. Never going to happen now that EA has moved SWTOR maintenance from Bioware to third party Broadsword (2023). Unfortunately. This is such a great idea. šŸ˜
  2. Bless you! I'll submit it asap. The character was deleted just yesterday.
  3. I need to recover a deleted character but there is no way to open a customer support request on the SWTOR website or on the EA website after logging into either one. On the EA website, clicking the "Open New Case" button just redirects me to a "community" help search page that's of no help at all and there is no link or form anywhere to open a new support ticket. I've even gone to the EA webpage for a list of all my cases. That webpage says I don't have any cases but has an "Open New Case" button that, again, does nothing but redirect me to a community Help FAQ page. I need to get a deleted character recovered. How do I do this?
  4. This last unscheduled outage is during prime playing time and had only a 4-minute warning given and no estimated resumption time. The previous outage was also unscheduled, had a 15-minute warning and no estimated resumption time. I wonder why SWTOR has been unstable lately.
  5. About the best thing most characters can do is put Broonmark down like the rabid animal he insists on behaving as and moving on. A rabid animal doesn't have a choice in its behavior. Broonmark does have a choice and he's even worse than Kaliyo D'jannis who is at least willing to discuss her behavior and occasionally moderate it.
  6. And still a bug in October 2023. šŸ˜ The first ceremonial beacon is located at coordinates -22, -352 on the area map of Onderon. For some reason, it was lightable for one of my characters. After that, lightable for every other of my characters.
  7. With EA selling off SWTOR to Broadsword Online Games 11 years later in 2023, looks like the permanent answer is "no." Ah well. It was a good run while it lasted. I'm just thankful I was able to cobble together pieces of adaptive armor to make a pretty realistic Spartan II armor suit for my "Master Chief" character.
  8. And July 2023, the game is STILL bugged with not being able to talk to Vette even with all possible enemy in the area annihilated. Come on, Vette! Grow a freakin' spine!
  9. And the problem still exists in July 2023. Just got the Shots Fired quest and started working on activating the barricade, turrets, and traps. My level 50 companion (Shae Vizla) and my character (a mix of blue 324 and gold 326 gear with 286 augments on everything) got one-shotted by 3 Sith having 161,000 HP each before I could complete 4 combat skills in my rotation. Moved to another section and got one-shotted again by 2 Sith. Moved to a third area and got one-shotted again by 2 Sith. This is ridiculous. With EA selling SWTOR off to Broadsword Online Game, I'm writing off Iokath as a waste of time and moving on. Just like EA has written off SWTOR.
  10. With the confirmation in June 2023 that EA is moving the support (and future) of SWTOR from Bioware to third party Broadsword Online, a number of hoped-for things is now up in the air. I'm keeping my fingers crossed but I'll believe it when I see it.
  11. Unfortunately, in 2023, Dulfy's website not longer exists. šŸ˜ So much good info lost forever.
  12. Attempting the repair right now. I'll update as to the results. Thank you for the reply! UPDATE: The Repair option is not active for me. However, upon logging in to attempt the Repair, a 1.8ish Gb download occurred. I let the auto download complete, closed the login screen, and relogged into the game. Checking the Repair showed it still not active for me. I clicked Play, the game loaded and brought up the Character Selection screen, and all menu options now look normal. Loading the same character that had the shipboard name issues shows all shipboard item and companion names and text are also showing as normal. Count this issue as resolved by that 1.8Gb+ download. šŸ‘
  13. All clickable items (vaults, target dummies, etc.) are missing their names and popup descriptions. Popup descriptions appear as just empty black text boxes while all names replace by just a colored bar. Names are also missing from all companions on ships with a colored bar appearing over each companion.
  14. Multiple texts stating "loc:1:characterselect", "loc:3942:characterselect", "loc:3:characterselect" or other similar messages are being constantly displayed on the Character Select screen upon logging in. This text does not appear to be interfering with actual character selection and game play. URGENT UPDATE: This same problem is occurring on list of player-owned Strongholds and ALL menu bar dropdowns in the user interface, causing the player Strongholds list screen and menu bar dropdowns on the user interface to be unusable. Unless players have the menu options memorized, the game cannot be exited.
  15. Happy to help. I'm one of those people who got into computers 'way back in the early 80s designing code and user procedures for mainframes. I've been designing and maintaining software as well as writing user procs since those early days and finally finished up with the major web design languages like HTML/JAVA/C++/Python/PERL before retiring. Guess it's kind of in my blood.
  16. Changing between loadouts in the field (i.e., the Legacy Character Perk "Field Respecialization" has been purchased) is very, very slow with the game locking up for at least 15-30 seconds. Longest lock was 45 seconds with Windows displaying a message of "Star Wars: The Old Republic is not responding. If you close the program, you might lose information." along with the selectable choices "Close the program" and "Wait for the program to respond". Selecting "Wait for the program to respond" allowed the respec process to complete successfully after waiting another 10 seconds on the average. The delay occurrence seems to be intermittent and is not class-dependent, given that it has happened with both Force and Tech using classes.
  17. Ok, I got it to work. Here's how... 1) Download the DirectX 9 executable using the link posted to this forum that takes you to the Microsoft website. The download should automatically trigger; you'll need to save the file to a local file on your hard drive. If the download does not auto-trigger, click the big red DOWNLOAD button on the webpage. 2) Run the downloaded DirectX 9 executable (i.e., double-left click on it). Note this will NOT install DirectX 9; it will ask for a location on your hard drive that it will extract the installation files to. Either use a folder you already have or create one first, then run the DirectX 9 executable you downloaded from the Microsoft website. 3) Once you've extracted the files from the downloaded executable to your folder, go into that folder. Find and run the executable file named "DXSETUP.exe". At this point, it will auto-install DX9 and tell you when it's done. 4) Try logging into and running SWTOR. Hope this helps.
  18. Ok, let's pretend for a moment that not every SWTOR player and the entire world is made up solely of game software developers. Because they're not! If this "DX9" is suddenly critical to running the SWTOR software, why isn't it included in the patch update? Why isn't its installation as a requirement included in the patch notes? Why isn't it available for download on the SWTOR website? Why aren't instructions for its installation and use available on the SWTOR website? Sounds like EA dropped the ball in a major way here because, right now, SWTOR is completely unplayable for a lot of people who did nothing more than download EA's patch like they were supposed to, log in by providing the information that they were supposed to, and click the Play button like they were supposed to. šŸ˜” EDIT: And now that I've gotten the whining out of my system, I'm going to put my big boy pants on. I got it to work. And EA/BioWare, 1) this should never have been a problem for the player base, and 2) if SWTOR required DX9, it should be included and auto-installed in any major client patch or at least the link and in-depth instructions should be on the SWTOR website. Speaking as a retired software developer/engineer with 24 years in the business, shame on you.
  19. I don't do Twitter, so thank you both for the info. Given the extent of the changes in the update, I'd be surprised if the servers did come up in 5 hours. But it's always nice to have hope. *grin*
  20. Any idea how long the server outage for the latest patch time could be? I know it's a 35Gb update with a new 64-bit client and, having worked IT support (software developer), I know it's impossible to give an exact time. But are we looking at 3-5 hours, "wait until Friday morning", etc.?
  21. The stated time frame is incorrect; you don't have to wait until level 70. A character gains access to a second Combat Style at the end of Chapter 3 of the origin story. The character is automatically granted a mission you can use to choose a second Combat Style for that character. For Force wielders, this mission is called ā€œTraining in the Forceā€. For Tech users, this mission is called ā€œTraining and Skillsā€. Keep in mind you cannot mix a Force combat style and a Tech combat style on the same character. If you don't want to choose a second Combat Style in order to save it for one of the new upcoming combat styles, just remove the quest from being tracked and save it for later. Personally, I built a new Republic Trooper who went with Sniper first. Then, at level 10, I chose to add on Operative specifically for that combat style's stealth capability. The Sniper/Operative combination is amazing and gives a Special Ops feel to the Havoc character. Just be sure to buy the Legacy ability to change combat styles in the field. It is well worth the cost. Be warned though. Even with the Legacy ability, you cannot change combat styles while running in a Flashpoint.
  22. So Satele Shan was once known as a Hot Prospect? Yeah, I can see it.
  23. October 1 2021 and still a bug. I really wish I could have done my job as a software engineer as bad as this and still gotten paid. I would have gotten fired.
  24. I, for one, am going nuts waiting for Risha to show up. That storyline and romance was lots of fun for me (the BH is such a lovable jerk). That and I put a ton of time and resources in making her my only level 50 companion. I've been considering using the console to bring her back but don't want to mess up the story when/if she does show up. I know suspense is part of the game but I kinda wish Bioware would publish a tentative schedule as to when the various companions would show up. Suspense can be enjoyable but so can anticipation. And while I didn't like the railroading BioWare did with the Nadia romance, she's turned out to be the most loyal companion, imo. She seems to be the only who's deadly serious about finding her lost love and letting absolutely nothing stand in her way. I mean, bringing the Esh-ka in on the search!?! Holy ----! Now that is a companion. You go, girl!!
  25. Did all the servers crash at 7:30pm Central? I was in the middle of play and Ebon Hawk disconnected me without warning. Can't log back in to it or log into any of the other servers.
