  1. yes you are talking about copyright law. the two overlap. you asked, essentially, if it was against the EULA for you to sell items that you have the copyright to. the only reason you wouldn't be allowed to do so, is if you didn't have copyrights over your creations to sell them. you must understand copyright law to understand your creator rights and how those rights and ownership are transferred, or not transferred, to another party. you don't know what to believe and you're concerned you don't have the copyrights to sell those items putting you in violation of the EULA. your question has been answered in previous replies.
  2. New player-ish here. I subbed up 2 months ago and unsubbed at the beginning of this month because the jedi styles are so unappealing. I'm really only interested in more iconic influenced looks for my characters and the jedi styles are just so un-iconic. they work for other classes but as jedi they're awful. i'd resub and play more if they had better jedi styles like the ones shown in this thread.
  3. Yes technically it is a breach of the EULA. HOWEVER, what EA/Bioware doesn't tell you is that their EULA cannot supersede trademark and copyright law. The EULA cannot legally bind a consumer to terms that are in conflict with local laws. If this went to court, they would lose because copyright law prevents the transfer of copyright ownership without express agreement. In other words, you can't be tricked or accidentally give up your copyright ownership through tactics like the ones included in a lot of games saying "your characters belong to us." No. They don't. These types of provisions' adherence rely on the consumer to not be familiar with copyright law. You can sell artwork of your own characters.

In addition to a story based experience, character concepts are what drive my enjoyment. If I can't create a character concept that I can get into, I can't enjoy my experience. Distinct stories are interesting of course, but it's also exploring the powers and abilities too. So even with the story being the same, I would have liked to go back and make this character a single wield knight. My first character was this character at 52. I didn't mean to progress as quickly as I did... but I was immersed, the game kept throwing XP at me, and I still wasn't sure if I liked it as I went. Ultimately I reached a point of no return though. I decided I really just didn't like the character concept behind it as I progressed in the end. He was male human and it just seemed very uninspired. He got to Hoth and I also invested a few CM $$ item purchases into him. I thought I could respec him into another Sentinel build but just use a focus, but I didn't realize the passive to equip it wasn't an option at all for sentinels and not an option -- that didn't work out obviously. Then I started a new Sentinel that I hoped I'd be more interested in and find more compelling. Female Togruta. Which was much more visually interesting and less typical (although Ahsoka fans would argue no). I got her to 65 super quickly. She's on Belsavis now. I love her but I needed a break. So, I created a Mirulan Inquisitor which is now up to 45 and I love her too. She's been a nice breath of fresh air. I'd like to return to my male human but only if I can distinguish him from my Togruta and not waste my time and financial investment. I also created a consular and a bounty hunter but I have yet to play them. I probably won't though because of the time commitments in getting them to where I'd like them to be. And if there is no way to respec, the character is really wasted. I'll finish the stories I'm working on so far and then probably move on. I need more flexibility from the game to keep me interested to optimize my limited entertainment time.

K so if I'm not willing to reinvest the time to relevel a replacement, my only option is to move onto another game? That's unfortunate. It's a level 52 character. So I won't be rerolling a new one. I'll just move on instead and maybe check out this game again if they ever provide respec. Thanks for the info though.

I have basically abandoned my Sentinel but I don't want to. Is there somewhere I'm able to respec him into a regular Single wield Guardian? Maybe I just can't find it?
  7. I'm in. The fleet station is a total rip off of DS9 anyhow. It fits (sadly).
  8. since the guy above me just owned the "humanoid" definition i don't need to go there. for the purposes of context in this game and adding character art to this game though, so far, all of the proposed species are "humanoid" and can be easily added to the game with little or no effort. trandoshans and wookies are possible but would require extensive work to add to the game and maintain. everyone else from what i've seen can be added "easily" though. "kissing" is a function of character animation. it has nothing to do with being humanoid or not. if the character model has a standard rigging and bones structure and head it can "romance" function. it's that simple. as for taller character models. this may or may not be a relevant concern. i would have to see the relevant posts / vids by the dev team explaining the nature of why this is an obstacle before i accepted it. otherwise i can't take the word of someone from the community, who is unversed in development or character modeling and animating, to be believed. they simple aren't informed enough to even understand and properly interpret whatever information they may have heard. afaik camera settings would be dynamic and they would not be hardcoded for each specific scene so they would be easily scaled for a character's proper height. this may not be true, but if that is the case it is a serious development prob that should be corrected anyhow due to how inefficient and restrictive it is on future development.
  9. what? no. kissing has nothing to do with it. the face either. lol using the word humanoid is relevant. it's a science term first, outside of the star wars universe and lore, and we're using it to describe the similarity of the character designs in the context of determining the workload required for character artists to add the species to the game. all species that have the same basic humanoid physical shape can easily be added to the game with only minor work. anything outside of that is, logically, more work.
  10. Voss are humanoid species and easily added to the game. In fact, they could essentially be added with some textures using their unique tattoo patterns. However, they are not a canon species and I personally have no interest in having non-canon species added. Personal preference. I would much rather see dev resources directed towards canon species that fans want to see.
  11. Hello, I'd really to buy a greater variety of droid customizations/replacements in general. Personally don't care for the art direction on the astromechs or the protocol droids (T7 or C2) so, I'd really like to buy total replacements for them. For the Astromech I'd like to see designs that look more modern, less primitive and more aesthetically pleasing. I understand that the idea seems to be that this is an earlier time in the Republic's history and this is an attempt to make technology look older, but this is unnecessary as the appearance of something does not have to be inline with how technologically advanced it is. Our civilization is technologically inferior to Star Wars technology presumably, and Apple has no problem making computers more visually appealing than T7, for example. For the protocol droid, as a minimum, at least give players a customization without the dumb neckbrace. There is a version of this in the game being used for several NPCs but using different textures, so this is a very simple swap. But ideally there is a HUGE variety of protocol droids throughout the StarWars mythos that the art team can draw inspiration from for these. Ideally, it would be nice if we could completely replace the droids with an even wider variety of droids to our own tastes. I'm sure many players would be happy to buy GNK (Gonk) power droids, LEP-servant (Bunny) droids, Treadmill droids, Mouse droids, Techno-service droids (ala Todo 360) etc as replacements for their droid companions. This is an untapped market. Please get on this ASAP.
  12. Since mounts are faster than running they replace the run lock. The multiple mounts are just skins of a "travel power". Players choose their default travel power customization And I'm trying to avoid having to put it on the hot bar completely. That's why I was hoping the binding was hardcoded to T (travel) so it wouldn't take up space on my hot bar. H is usually hardcoded for healing for the same reason. And from there you can fill out your bar as you choose. The goal is to have as few unnecessary buttons as possible. Anyhow, no problem. File it under suggestion box.
  13. gotcha. so, there isn't one. i was hoping there was. like a keybind for autorun is hardcoded. mount flourish also?! but not the actual mount. which is silly. that's too bad. seems kind of obvious. thank you.
  14. maybe i'm just missing it, but is there a dedicated keybind like T? to turn on your mount? i can't seem to find one and i'd prefer to not use the space on my hotbar. thanks.
