  1. I've never been great at doing the same content over and over again - I know... I'm in the wrong game :D ... - so I've characters at various stages of HC, SoR and Knights*. I'm using the double XP to bring all of them up to level 75 and give them half-way decent gear so I can take turns at making them my main character for a while, just to change play style out a bit and try something slightly different.
  2. Another thing with strong "ouch" value is realising that a sizable fraction of your colleagues are younger than your career...

Heh... one of our (very talented) junior devs had a day when she was feeling a little self-doubting and wanted to know how on Earth I managed to know all that I do. I replied that I'd been doing it longer than she'd been alive so it'd had plenty of time to hammer into my brain - no magic ability, just time... Helped her, made me feel old :D

That's never bothered me. My last 3 bosses were all 10+ years younger than me,

Not that younger workers need what older workers think younger workers need. No. They bite their tongues, not saying what's really on their collective mind: that it's time for an entire generation of older workers to set the coffee cup down, stop flattening the tiles, stop spouting off about the glory days of CP/M and Cobol, stop using up all the available oxygen, and just leave.

One of the things that I love about my job is just how things change over time, and how often it is that the juniors teach me new stuff - that's just fantastic

However, I've met plenty that act as you describe unfortunately. In fact I think they all hang out at the theregister.com - a UK-based tech newspaper - that's a great example of the above - if you're not individually-crafting each 0 and 1 you are somehow not worthy!

  3. Since I've returned after a four-year gap it's been only solo / story and I would be surprised if that changes.

Before it was mostly this too until the last few months of my playing-time where I figured I'd try out a few new things before I stopped played. I joined a guild, which was nice - just a small one and did a few Heroics etc and had people to chat to while playing. I tried GSF a few times, but found that really clunky and the people were generally a bit obnoxious. I tried PVP when it was a condition of getting M1-4X, and, oh god... never again - I get that a lot of the PVP crowd might have been upset with an influx of inexperienced and disinterested PVE players, but the atmosphere was unreal.

Did a fair number of flashpoints through GF and had mixed experiences. Either the team were completely silent, in which case just felt like I might as well solo it. Or, I'd get stuck with one real aggressive so-and-so that would pick on whomever was the weakest group member and just target them with abuse. A few were nice experiences, but too low a number to make me want to continue. And that, together with a big lull in content, was largely what pushed me away from the game for so long.

As I said: I doubt I'll return to group stuff, but never say never and all that - I'd like to try an operation one of these days, but only if I could guarantee that it would be with normal, reasonable people and not absolute nightmares!

  4. While most flashpoints can be done in veteran without requiring tank and healer, those two flashpoints were not very well adapted. They are not even part of Veteran group finder because that queue ignores roles.

They were soloable when there wasn't a level sync. You could overlevel them and do them then but since level sync these were still a bit difficult to do that with.

Thanks both. I'm not sure how, but I managed to miss both of these when playing first-time around years ago - that'll teach me for not paying attention :D

it requires a bit of creative gameplay but both in 5.0 and now in 6.0 Kaon and LI are easily soloable, as you might assume being decent at your class, some creative companion micro, having companions at 50 and good gearing helps a lot

I remember that stun adds, called Mercenary or something, if I remember correctly was that you send in your companion first and then interrupt it yourself, or use the stun ability of your companion on the mob in case you are the person being grappled

Thank-you - I'll give it another shot then by trying that :)

  5. Same. Lost Island and Kaon Under Siege...

Please excuse my ignorance, but were these originally soloable? I tried Kaon yesterday on Veteran and was ticking along quite nicely, until shortly after Major Byzal when you start to get enemies hitting you with an unbreakable grapple-type thing, which just stays put until you eventually die - doesn't appear to be anything that can be done. Shame as I was quite enjoying it up until then!

  6. Welcome back :)

I'm in a similar situation - I've recently returned after a four-year break and a lot has changed - I've got a lot of catching up to do. I'm enjoying it a lot again though, and I hope you do too :)

  7. Anyone tried the Shiny New Toy H2 recently? The walker seems impossible to beat solo. I've watched videos from last year of people doing it, almost casually walking out of the red circle when it shows up and not having to deal with anything else. I was trying to do it for the first time today, I get out of the AoE immediately, sometimes force speed out of it and still take huge damage anyways. And when the AoE isn't almost killing you, the walker has another attack that makes sure you won't survive the next AoE. Plus it cheats and uses both attacks right through buildings where it should have lost line of sight.

Yes, similar encounter. My companion was one-shotted even outside the AOE. I lasted 2 shots from the cannon, the killing shot was through a building wall - I bravely ran away to the building ;-) . I have a feeling that the AOE attack was having an effect even outside its area.

  8. Stronger than it was 6 months ago? A year ago?

6 months? Definitely - was really slow then. A year? Not entirely sure as that's about when I started playing so wouldn't really remember.

And as for The Division :

You are an agent of The Division. You have been activated and sent to Manhattan to save what remains of civilization after the devastating pandemic. Teaming up with other Division agents, your mission is to restore order, investigate the source of the virus, and take back New York.

Too US-centic so really not very interesting for me.

  9. QFT.

The Red Eclipse is swarmed with teleporting bots. Truly infuriating.

While I'm sure they exist, given the volume of spam I get in-game from credit sellers I have genuinely yet to see one. At the start of these threads I paid a visit to Yavin on TRE to do some slicing to see for myself what it was like.

Personally, I didn't have the stomach for an extended period running around the temple, but there were plenty of nodes free - the only people beating me to to nodes were clearly other players. For the record I reckon I got about 100K in 20 mins or so - wouldn't repeat it as it was terminally dull. That's probably about the same rate as doing a few H2s?

  10. I do have problems with crashing that started after a win update / patch 4.04 - not sure which is to blame, if either. Everything was fine until around this time-period - now I get, maybe half a dozen or so crashes per evening - generally when changing planets / cutscenes. Pain in the backside as it rules me out of FPs and Ops - would seem a bit discourteous to others to join with an unstable system. I always know when it's about to crash as the audio drops out very briefly before returning for a few seconds, then crash to desktop. That said, I'm sure it'll turn out to be a 'me' issue rather than a Win 10 issue.

Haven't had much luck with in-game support - just the common auto-close shenanigans :(

  11. Those CC were NOT free.

You had to give out your personal information to them. Now they have your email address and a little bit of your soul.

I hope it was worth it selling out for a few pixels.

Well, they already had the email due to subscription and my soul is far too tarnished to be of value to them. ;)

  12. 100 lines - also, see me at the end of the lesson.

I must not start a sentence with 'so'.

    :p

  13. I would also like to transfer comms/crystals between characters also without that vendor money laundering which only works for basic comms/crystals

Does anyone know what the reasoning is - assuming there is actually one - why this isn't permitted? I'm sure everyone has alts that they have got through the class stories to then be largely abandoned. It'd be fantastic to be able to transfer them over to a character that's in use. I'm sure there's a reason know that I'm missing, hence the question.
