  1. OR they could fix the underlying problem causing these people to enter pvp for Galactic Seasons Rewards. As long as you make people feel they have to do something, or because it is easier, instead of because they want to, the problem wont go away.

    SNIP

While I'm sure it's very frustrating to those that play and enjoy GSF I can't help but agree that this makes more sense than attempting to patch over the difficulties caused by the poor design decision. This is exactly the same as with Pierce / 4X during KotFE: people going into PVP with no intention of participating and just throwing the match - that caused a lot of problems at the time, so it's a pity to see it repeated.

  2. We're a small and extremely friendly casual / social guild that does everything you'd expect - PVP, OPs (mostly SM so people can learn, but some Vet). We're open to all players, whatever their experience so long as they are nice - we are very patient with beginners and happy to take the time to run content with them. We tend to be quite chatty as we play too, so it's easy to get to know the members should you wish to.

We also have a smaller, less active Rep guild that some of our members are part of too.

So, if you fancy being part of a smaller casual guild and being more than just numbers for conquest then PM me.

There is one other thing to consider, Covid. How many Bioware staff are affected by it? They are also mostly working from home as far as I know. So things could be getting lost in communication as well. It’s hard to manage a team remotely and it’s harder if you’re understaffed or not feeling great too. (I’m not making excuses for them, just some points to consider).

Well, yes, that's certainly possible. However remote development was a thing way before Covid - it's not at all unusual for devs to WFH (*) - I've spent a fair bit of my worktime doing just that, particularly in recent years as this way of working gets ever-more popular. And, yes, I realise my team isn't BW's team, but I manage a team of entirely remote developers - some not even in the same continent - and we manage perfectly well producing quality software that is use by a hell of a lot of people. Covid makes for extra challenges, sure, but personally I believe they are manageable ones

    * Sometimes working from home is the only way you can actually get stuff done without distractions :D

  4. ...

Heck, even the WIP icon on amplifier window was ported straight to live.

To be honest I'm quite envious of Bioware's dev team. It must be pretty wonderfull to know that no matter how much you mess up a live release, you will never risk your job, no matter how many bugs you introduce and features you don't implement correctly. Even while working on the same line of work as them, I would lose my job after two terrible patch releases like these ones if I don't fix them in a week.

It is quite baffling. Just for context here, rather than any kind of silly boast: I work as a lead software engineer at one of the biggest companies on the entire planet, and as-such, I really can't understand what's going on here at all. The overwhelming majority of developers / QAs that I've worked with have been really passionate about putting out high-quality work - it's a cultural thing - sure, sometimes business pressures get in the way and things aren't quite perfect, but on the whole people do strive for quality.

I obviously have no insight to what's going on at BW these days, and whether it's lack of resources or apathy / incompetence I just don't know, but how things like the 'WIP' icon and the many other howlers / own-goals get through to live on a regular basis is, as I've said above, baffling. I know I or my team would never survive such a history of poor releases, not that we would ever get to that stage.

I've been playing for a while now and I've put in more hours that I'd comfortably admit to, and I've always enjoyed the game - fundamentally it is a good game. However, as the months go by though I find that I get more and more irritated at myself for continuing to pay for a product which is deteriorating so rapidly through an apparent lack of care or interest.

  5. Sort of. I'm not a massive fan of Star Wars either, I mean it's okay, nothing special. I think I'm more interested it the sci-fi part of, rather than specifically SW, it as I've never been a fan of fantasy stuff.

I guess I was just looking for an absolutely huge game to play over an extended period of time that was mostly single-player but with the option to do multiplayer stuff as well.

If a new sci-fi MMO appeared that was good I'd probably stop playing this game, at least regularly - would probably return every new content date, for the few hours that would take :p

  6. antivirius blocked the site, with a massive warning...

Ah, it's non-malicious - just a (deliberate) example of terrible 90s websites with spinning gifs, guestbook, under construction notices etc etc - just your standard 90s GeoCities website. It's probably set off your AV's "OMG - kill this abomination with fire" filter ;)

There's only a little HTML and other than the usual Google nonsense js on there a script to play some 90s MIDI music. You can use it to turn modern pages into 1990s horrors. If it sets anyone else's off I'll replace the link with a static image :)

  7. Or use reshade because it has way more options than Nvidia freestyle, not that the drivers program is not good but if you really wanna customize the graphics of the game reshade is the way to go...been using it for a long time now with my own preset and loving it, sky to ground difference !!! :D:D:cool:

Do you have any suggestions on how to create a preset? I've tried (without putting in a massive amount of effort) reshade in the past and while it does at first-glance improve a lot, it also on default settings breaks a lot too - i.e. SH hooks, mail indicators.

  8. They won't invest money in it. If anything they will start flooding the market with new $$ items to try and recoup all the money now lost to Anthem. They have had a lot of failures the last few years, and have broken promises to make things right time and time again until a project just gets gone. (Andromeda DLC, Anthem 2.0 etc)

They will just keep using SWTOR to generate micro transactions while supporting Mass Effect development. With a little bit of new content thrown in once in awhile to keep people playing. Other than minor cosmetic changes to the engine don't expect anything close to major upgrade.

Indeed - I was just saying that in all honesty I'm not terrible fussed about an engine upgrade even if there was a chance that it could happen, as unlikely as that is anyway. If I was the Evil Overlord in Charge of all Development (*) I'd spend the money on a round of bug fixes and content :-)

    * somewhat similar to my actual role - my actual job title is unfortunately far more banal.

  9. the problems i was talking about is more that with each new patch there release and each new expension there release the problems in the game only become more and more since there cant fix it any more since the engine is to old.

there are now a lot off Visual problems in the game and it wil only become more and more since the engine is more a alpha version.

in the short term is it maybe good but in the long term its going to become only worse and worse.

the question is still for us all how long do we going to accept that we keep playing this game will the bug's and visual problems is only become more with each new update/ expension and a lot off then get no fix that a lot off the bugs in the game still active will there need a fix and have been report for years and years and still notting has done with it.

While I certainly agree that the engine now has limitations, as you'd likely expect given its age, that doesn't stop a very large proportion of bugs from being fixed. The fact that many aren't are down to other issues, and I guess we can only speculate on what they might be. That's me being polite.

Also, while the engine may have originated from an alpha version, and for reasons that are a whole other post in itself isn't necessarily such a big deal as people make it out to be, it's certainly progressed way beyond that now to a '(heavily) customised engine based on an early build of Hero Engine'

To the topic at hand: years ago I'd have loved an engine upgrade, but these days I've settled in for appreciating that it's done pretty well all things considered. I mean, here we are playing it 10 years later - sure, it has limitations and frustrations but on the other hand: it's certainly given me more hours playtime than I'll ever admit in public ;)

  10. its true that you get experience, but most of the players are unwilling to continue after such horrific experience.

For PVE, I can imagine your team of 4 fighters (as in FP) in numerous scenarios, like try to disable a cruiser while fighting of a group of defending fighters and vice versa.

I'd love that as it brings you extremely close to Tie Fighter, which was one of the best games ever IMO

  11. . Could have used a toothpick to complete her rogue look, but those things go for tens of millions. The most expensive sliver of wood in the galaxy.

I just sold one for 35 million - I did feel a little guilty, but the guild bank needed the funds :D

It's a really daft item too, as it's barely even visible unless really close-up

  12. I know, you are probably rolling your eyes at me - LOL

So many new players are joining every day... it would really be great to have a few more into to ops runs added to the game.

I've been playing nearly every day since May covid-lock-down 2020, and I'm still attempting to NOT die doing the SM Eternity Vault op!! It doesn't really seem like a beginner's op to me. :D

May the Force always serve you :hope_01:

You have a sensible level of gearing at least? Even so even the easier SM OPs come with a reasonable chance of dying, particularly for people relatively new to the game. Stick with it - combination of practice with people running fun / casual runs (*), watching the odd video for tactics etc and you'll get there

*Or, if you haven't already, join a guild that does beginner OPs as well.

  13. That was only an example. I figured most players would be after that, even if i hadn't mentioned it.

I seriously hope not, but having seen some of the outfits on fleet you might sadly be right :o I realise the slave girl outfit is a bit of a SW thing, but good lord they really are cheesy as hell...
