  1. What a coincidence! My husband and I just today let our WoW subs lapse and came back to SWTOR! You're going to find pretty much everything you complained about over there, too, just so you know. But good luck anyway! Sometimes just the change of scenery is all you need to feel better, even if the issues with the two games are largely the same (which is why we're excited to be back here even though we don't at all doubt your post).
  2. Because the game won't let you abandon "core" missions like that. Of course you can abandon most of the main planet questlines, but the Ilum questline specifically is treated more like your untouchable class questline.
  3. Tai Cordan, human, recurring character from the Jedi Consular class story (chapters 2 and 3). He's not bad-looking at all, but I am mostly in love with his voice. <3 Also Lane Ferow, the adorable little blonde dude on Makeb (he hung out with a Weequay named Prosk, who called him "Slick", if the name isn't immediately familiar). Republic side. Sucks that there was a female romance option on Makeb in Lemda Avesta but no male!
  4. Personally I think it's worth it just for the +10 legacy Presence you get for doing all of a companion's conversations, assuming we get to keep that.
  5. Are you at 400 or 450 skill, by chance? You have to pay 10k credits at the Bionanalysis trainer to progress past 400 (and can only do so if you have Rise of the Cartel expansion, which you will have automatically if you're a subscriber but not if you're F2P). And you have to pay 50k at the trainer to progress past 450 (and can only do so if you have Shadow of Revan expansion, which you need to purchase separately even if you're a subscriber).
  6. Add another vote for collection unlocks, heh. I prioritized the utility stuff first (rocket boosts, inventory and cargo bay expansions, character slots), but once I had all of that, I pretty much just let my subscriber coins pile up and unlock stuff whenever I want to. I barely even unlock any gear, since for the most part I like my characters to all wear something different. But I unlock a *lot* of mounts, pets and color crystals. Never enough!!
  7. This, exactly. To say that crafting for conquest means 0% effort/participation is quite dismissive and insulting of the massive amount of time and effort it takes to either farm all those mats, or to earn enough credits to buy them all.
  8. They're actually discounted fairly often. I see a 10-15% off almost every month, it seems, and then once every several months it'll be a huge slash like 50%. I believe they were discounted about three weeks ago, so another one might be along soon-ish. I would consider waiting until the next discount and then checking the GTN before actually spending CC. When they go on sale in the Cartel Market, I can usually nab a few on the GTN for like 600k as opposed to 1mil+; I believe the cheapest I ever snagged some was around 450k.
  9. I completely agree with this. I essentially look at it as "I paid the normal $30 for a two-month sub, and I bought 2400 Cartel Coins for $10 (which is a hefty discount), and I got Shadow of Revan for free!". I feel like getting this deal (and looking at it in this specific light) is the perfect solution for people who want access to SoR now, but are having a hard time justifying paying for it when it'll be free in a few months. Why deny yourself those few months of enjoyment?
  10. Female Trooper is my favorite voice acting in the game, but a lot of people seem to disagree with me. It's fairly polarizing; people either completely love it or else completely hate it. I like both genders' voice acting for Smuggler, as well.
  11. I will say that Sith Marauder and Jedi Sentinel are probably *the* most challenging characters to level (you didn't specify which AC your Jedi Knight was, though Guardians can have several of the same problems as Sentinels if you're not actively using your cooldowns). At lower levels, they tend to simultaneously take *more* damage and deal *less* damage per second than any other class. I've heard it gets better at endgame, but actually *getting* to endgame is a colossal struggle. It's not as bad once you have several alts, who can build up a lot of Presence and your companion can help you out more. But I would never recommend Mara or Sent to a first-timer. I'm sure there are things you could be doing to make your gaming experience easier (and you've received some solid advice in this thread already), but before you give the game up entirely in frustration, I would at least implore you to try *any* other class than a SW/JK.
  12. On your first 60, I would definitely keep going. The stories for Yavin and Ziost are pretty good (IMHO), and the rewards are definitely worth it. You will be glad to have at least one character capable of gather 192 legacy companion gear if you ever decide to level alts (which almost everybody does). Once you have more than one 60, you might want to leave at least one of them wherever they happen to land when they finish leveling, and you'll probably be sick of Yavin by then anyway. You can use this one to gauge which leveling path is more efficient when the expansion drops. I currently have four 60s. Two have finished Yavin and two haven't even started it (they both his 60 on the last leg of Rishi). I'm going to level one of my "finished" 60s through KotFE content first, then I'm going to finish Rishi, do all of Yavin, and then do KotFE content on one of the "unfinished" ones and see how long it takes to level that way. Whichever method feels faster and/or less tedious will be employed for subsequent alts.
  13. You are completely and utterly right about Ashara, and the sad thing is, I knew that. My brain just had a complete derpout moment... 'swhat I get for being on the forums so late at night! *sheepish grin* But yeah, as Gythral said, Nadia uses Xalek's assault gear (make sure you get his the DPS set as opposed to the tank set!), and I've edited my first post to reflect that (whilst still owning up to my error, heh).
  14. These are the gear parallels for Sith Inquisitor -> Jedi Consular specifically: - get Andronikos Revel's gear for Zenith - get Xalek's DPS gear for Nadia Grell (edited: NOT Ashara's!) - get Talos Drellik's healing gear for Theran Cedrax Gearing the tanks is tricker, because the Inquisitor has a Strength tank and a Willpower tank, while the Consular has two Aim tanks. You won't be able to gear the Consular's tanks with any of the regular Inquisitor companions' gear, but if you have an option to take Treek's defense gear, that will work (I've always had the option to take Treek gear because I've always had Treek, but I do not know if her gear shows up if you *don't* have her).
  15. I'm guessing the OP has a Celebrator mount on the GTN and is dismayed that the price is about to tank. EDIT: Hmm, looks like the mount actually *isn't* in this bundle. Sneaky, sneaky. Glad I checked before I dropped 1k CC on it!
  16. If you play a lot of alts like I do, this is what I have found to be the most effective. I took those full legacy gear sets (that you get in the Galactic Starfighter mail from BioWare), and filled sets with Aim tank mods for levels 17, 25, 33, 41 and 50, and put them in my legacy storage. Now all of my alts use Treek, and they just pass the same legacy gear around over and over, depending on their needs for their specific levels. It has saved me *so* much time, comms, credits (for ripping out mods) and Cybertech mats!
  17. Treek is primarily valued as a tank. She's a decent healer as well, but her healing is more on-par with the regular companion healers, while her tanking is significantly superior. The two main draws of Treek's tanking are 1) her AoE does not break any crowd control you have applied to enemies (all other companion AoEs *do* break CC), and 2) she's the only tank who can (and will) spot-heal you if you need it. These two things may not seem like much, but they really do make a constant and noticeable difference.
  18. I've seen them all mentioned before in this thread already, but I would just like to add another vote for: - Mawvorr - Reek - Acklay - Nerf - Isotope-5 Droid (the type of droid affectionately referred to as "llamas") Personally I would love a Nerf the most, though I understand that they'd probably be a very low priority because they are so similar to the existing Uxibeast mounts... I just find the Nerfs' faces specifically more endearing. ^_^
  19. They have as many LS/DS options as any other class. However, there are also a lot of planet quests on Korriban that give LS/DS. I'm guessing that when you leveled your Warrior, it was during regular xp and so you had to do all those planet quests and got the LD/DS points from them. Then you leveled your Inquisitor during 12x and only did the class quest. That would explain a large discrepancy in LS/DS gain on a starting planet.
  20. Tai Cordan. I mean, I guess he has a decently-sized role in the Consular story, but that's the thing, it's only one story. Also I am totally biased; there's nothing particularly spectacular about the character, I'm just crazy about his voice. The first time I heard him speak I went "OMG I LOVE THIS VOICE SO HARD WHO IS THIS?!?", I looked him up, and it was Cam Clarke! And I felt *abjectly stupid* for not recognizing that fact immediately! For anyone like me who has played Tales of Symphonia and loved Kratos hardcore, you gotta role a Consular.
  21. This, so much. It's really so fast and easy to level a new character with the 12x that I would absolutely advocate creating a new Togruta rather than race-changing an existing character. Even if you're full-up on characters (as in, no more character slots), with the server transfers currently being so cheap, there's always the possibility of transferring one of your lesser-played alts to a different server to free up a space, if you're one of those people who can't bear the thought of deleting it.
  22. In my experience, this actually only happens when you select "*Return* to Fleet", when the Fleet was the last place you were before teleporting to your stronghold *and* you've logged off in the interim (so the game can't remember where exactly on the Fleet you were last time). Whenever I choose "*Exit* to Fleet", on the other hand, it puts me right in the middle of everything at the Quick Travel point (by the cargo hold on the west-hand side of the cantina). I can certainly Quick Travel and use my teleports from here! I'm not trying to be argumentative here, just trying to point out something useful you might not have known. Always use the "Exit" option, unless you specifically want to "Return" to a specific spot in the Fleet (perhaps you had just come from a specific vendor in the Supplies section and don't want to run all the way back there) *and* you have not logged off since you left that spot in the Fleet! ^_^
  23. You actually get more of the "Wow, the actual politics of the Republic are terrible" feeling/reveals in the Trooper storyline than in any other. And you will *definitely* have many opportunities to address that fact directly, as it is repeatedly shoved into your face. You're actually going to see quite a few choices where the "Do the thing the Republic wants you to do" and "Do the thing that DOESN'T make you a heartless monster" options are both available, *and* are mutually exclusive. This is why so many people say that it's virtually impossible to have a Trooper that isn't Neutral (as opposed to Light or Dark) if you're playing it anywhere near seriously, as opposed to as a caricature of a person.
  24. I would wait if I were you. As has been noted, changing a species at the kiosk costs upwards of 700cc (most people are saying 792cc; I could have sworn it was 720cc when I checked, but either way, 700+). So far all of the species unlocks have cost 600cc in the Cartel Market, and I can't imagine them changing it. Further, since it's a brand new race that everyone's going to want, I'll bet they'll put it on a hefty sale at (or very soon after) release to encourage people to try it.
  25. I've started using the Military Uxibeast on my Trooper, because it makes me smile. Uxibeasts are soooooo not Trooper-esque, but she's like "But it SAYS 'military'; it MUST be for me, right?!"
