  1. Put your Shadow Map Resolution back to 2048 and move Shadow Map Cascade down to HIGH and you'll get even better results, with little to no loss in detail. MEDIUM is where you can start to notice a difference without having to hunt, but if you can live with it it's a far better option than turning down the Shadow Map Resolution and will give much improved fps as well.
  2. This is one of the very few games where bloom looks dramatically better. All the holos, lightsabers, lights, etc. all look much better with it enabled. Nar Shaddaa in particular looks bad without it.
  3. The minute someone starts ranting about "fanboys" is when I tune them out. If you can't make your point without resorting to tired *** "they don't agree with me so they are fanboys" drivel is the minute your argument holds no water. And Op, don't be stupid. If the people who are arguing with you were actually fanboys they'd be the first to being yelling about fraud. After all a fanboy does everything they can to defend their game. BTW, even if it is fraud what, exactly, do you expect people in this forum to do? If you are intelligent enough to find this problem you are probably intelligent enough to use the proper channels to report it and this certainly isn't it. Maybe it is fraud or maybe you're just upset about being undercut, who knows, but either way this isn't the place to complain about it.
  4. I love it. Not only does old content become relevant again, but I get better rewards in the process. Most of the arguments against it turned out to be unfounded or overstated. You are still super powerful when synced so basically nothing has changed other than solo killing world bosses, which is stupid anyway and I'm glad is gone.
  5. People like the Op are why the tutorial exists in the first place. There is box that pops up on the screen that asks yes or no if you want to use it, and if you are too blind to see that you can just hit escape and click the first option called "Disable Tutorial". Seriously if you can't figure out that you should probably just quit while you are behind.
  6. Or maybe we just have half of the story, you ever think about that? People send more credits than that in mails every second in this game. Hell, every time I create a new character I send them more credits in the mail than this, so it's either a mistake, which sucks for the Op but will most likely get fixed, or there is something else going on here that we don't know about.
  7. So get rid of BitRaider, it's obviously something between it and your system that isn't working. I can download the entire game through it in less than an hour or two, so a patch shouldn't be more than a few minutes.
  8. Please explain your math. There are nine chapters, as well as a bunch of other stuff in this expansion. $15 is dirt cheap for what we got.
  9. I was in beta, I've been around since the beginning, and this game has never been better than it is right now. So, maybe the Ops opinion about the game doesn't hold weight, but he's right. The amount of whining on the forums right now is ridiculous, mostly unfounded, and an absurdly small portion of the games population who are actively enjoying 4.0. The game is finally moving in the right direction and KotFE is far and away the best expansion content yet.
  10. If you are worried about time what are you doing killing level 12 mobs for loot in the first place? It doesn't matter how fast you kill a level 12 mob, killing higher level ones will yield better loot and money regardless. And if you complete the mission you don't get level 12 loot, you get level 60 loot, which makes the time difference worth it. There is no logic to your argument at all, it's basically an "I hate change" rail against something that is objectively better, in loot terms, than what we have now.
  11. How, exactly, do you lose out on drops big time? In the current system if you kill a level 12 mob you get level 12 drops, in the new system it's exactly the same. The difference is that completing a level 12 quest as a level 60 will yield level 60 rewards, as opposed to level 12 rewards as it is now. The fact is you don't lose out on anything "big time" and in fact get much better rewards overall under the expansion system. There is nothing about the new system that is worse than the old in any way, shape, or form in regards to loot.
  12. Complaining about design decisions that are irrelevant to the game and are about as ridiculous as the launcher is most certainly an example of a community being toxic. And telling people to get perspective in a thread ************ about a launcher for a video game is hilarious. If anyone needs perspective it's a person who takes the time and energy to be upset that the screen they put their username and password into isn't as pretty as it used to be.
  13. I wasn't too keen on the idea of level syncing until i realized that even though your character is synced you'll still get rewards according to your actual level. At that point I no longer cared. I'm not in the habit of going around destroying old content because I think it's boring to faceroll the stuff, at least now I'll have a reason to go back and do all of it.
  14. And they just magically learned this how, exactly? I'll give you a hint, it's because people were already buying Treek before anyone knew anything about her stats or how good she was. Look, I get why people buy her now, but tons of people bought her the second she was available and it wasn't because she was better in combat. All of the reasons people bought her in the beginning will still be there after the expansion.
  15. I'm all for more storage, but the amount of storage you'll need post expansion isn't any higher than it is now. All of your companions will still wear the same gear, so it's not like you have to take it off.
  16. People really will complain about anything. It's a launcher for the game, not the game itself. You look at it for like 5 seconds before the game starts, who cares what it looks like?
  17. I don't really see the part in bold as an issue. People will buy Treek for the same reason they buy a Cathar race unlock or the same reason they buy a set of armor. When Treek came out no one (at first) bought it because it was overpowered, they bought it because it was a cool looking new companion.
  18. Ditto. I can't stand having to gear up multiple companions across multiple characters. Any satisfaction I get from tweaking and configuring gear I can get from my stable of main characters, I don't need to deal with 50 companions. I'm so looking forward to the new system where all I have to worry about is how my comps look and not that all of their gear is what it needs to be.
  19. Having one or two companions superior to the rest didn't add complexity to the game at all. In fact all it did was limit the choices. This doesn't dumb down anything it simply makes it so that people can use whomever they choose as a companion without having to use an inferior choice. This is a good change.
  20. If you had a 50 when the expansion launched you need to do more than just follow from quest hub to quest hub. Doing the dailies one time or a Flashpoint or two, or whatever else you want to do will get you to 55 pretty easily. Anyone who wasn't 50 will probably get to 55 well before they approach finishing Makeb. I was level 50 when the expansion hit, but I hit 50 in Hoth and hadn't played since, so I just did the planets after that before I went to Makeb. I was 54 before I stepped foot on the planet, and was 55 before the end of the second hub.

What's your CPU speed set at? My 2600k is @4.6, which might be the difference. I run SLI now because I like running high amounts of AA and 4xSGAA was dropping my single too low for my tastes. And don't bother turning off Hyperthreading, it makes no difference in this game. I've done it both ways and doesn't change my performance at all, and there are enough things that take advantage of it that turning it off for a single game isn't worth it.
  22. It's absolutely possible. First off, you're completely ignoring the fact that there are still a good number of subscribers to the game, It's not 100% F2P people. Second, There are more things that people buy besides cartel packs, there is an entire market of stuff people buy constantly. Finally, even subscribers are buying stuff all the time, which means they get the $15 and the extra money they spend each month. I think you'd be shocked at what the average person has spent playing this game. In fact, knowing what I know from past and current subscription games that go F2P I'd guarantee the game is making more money now than it was in Nov '11.
  23. As a person who has dealt with cancer, you need to get a sense of humor, or thicker skin. You lived, cheer up!
  24. If I'm in an area killing things and I hit a lull and someone else is fighting something I might pop it with a cast or two. After all, once a mob is grey there is no harm in it. Another time I do it is on quests that you have to spawn the mob, If I'm sitting there waiting for the person in front of me to do it I'll attack it as soon as it's tagged just to get it dead and get mine spawned, and 90% of the time the person I just helped will turn around and help me kill mine, we'll emote /bow or whatever and go about our own ways. It's not a question of whether or not they or I need help, it's just a "hey, we're in the same world doing the same thing, go team!" kind of thing. I think the Op is still stuck in the old EQ mindset, where anyone who wasn't grouped with you is the enemy, and trying to take your precious exp or phat loot. People here aren't trying to steal your kills, and the loot is random so camping spawns isn't an issue. Try not to be so anti-social and understand we're all one big Empire, or Republic, and accept that character interaction is one of the great things about these games.
