  1. After the most recent server merge, GSF activity really spiked for a while. It was great. But now it seems to have REALLY tapered off. I usually fly on Satele Shawn. Which server is the best for GSF pops now?
  2. For GSF Smackdown, I'm wearing a red and white loincloth with that antlers helmet. I have a question - on the Dom build, you're using concs instead of torps. Wherefore? The lock on time is almost the same, but... not the damage.
  3. What do you think guys? Are there 50 of us? Maybe not quite that many?
  4. I'm posting this here in the hopes that a dev or devs will see it. I figure there are reasonable odds of that. : ) Thank you. Thank you so very, very much for the changes you have made to the Galactic Starfighter game recently. That game is my favorite aspect of SWTOR, and I play it a lot. Almost everyone that I've talked to in the community is extremely happy with the changes, many inexpressibly so. You made several changes that I myself suggested (and I'm sure others did as well), so thank you especially for the legacy requisition grant items that can now be purchased from the starship vendors. Also, I think the efforts to better balance strike fighters are working well. They are a good mix of lethal and vunerable - effective, but not OP. And their increased presence as viable combat ships has reduced the OP status of some of the other ships. All in all, I want you to know that the GSF community deeply appreciates being listened to, and the efforts you've made to improve our beloved Starfighter game. Nice work! Sincerely, Donlan
  5. I always wanted some way to name our personal ship. When flagships came out, they were name-able. Seems like they could have done *something* in the way a naming function for our ships. Bad luck to fly around in a ship with no name.
  6. I love it! That's a great idea. Or even a vendor somewhere that would sell paint jobs, gas canisters, etc... for fleet commendations or something. Something to get ship customizations back in the game.
  7. I have Sand People armor. I have my sacred Bantha. Why, oh, why do I not have a Ghaffi stick with which to cleanse the desert of all the sacrilegious outsiders? WHY!!??!? and... PLEASE?
  8. Sigh. I always miss SSN. I'll try to be online during the event, but I'll either be yolo q-ing or I'll form an impromptu premade. Maybe with Lucky and her crew if they're on. Prolly be pub side. If I'm on at all. Damn my variable, on-call work schedule. >:l But you know what they say: "Irl is....irl." ---Donlan p.s. - Oh, I need the Discord info. Could someone post it here? Or is it in the forums elsewhere? Thanks.
  9. It would benefit a handful of ppl who have saved up a stockpile of req items. Personally, I haven't. why would I use up my cargo space for that after I've mastered all my ships? There's never been a reason to. But it would also benefit new GSFrs because they could complete the daily and weekly missions on multiple toons and funnel all the proceeds to a single toon in order to beef up their ship of choice. And then likewise for their alts. And, yes, I get what you're saying about skill being more important. But the newer players don't have skill yet, and the upgrades DO matter. A second missile break makes your scout stay alive that much longer. Armor piercing makes you get a higher damage and kill score. I think it would be a great thing for the community all around.
  10. This is really what it's about. Those upgrades make a big difference, especially to new players.
  11. um... That's a bot, buddy. Some dude is running a bot on a loop, slaughtering mobs. It's probably more about the credits than the CXP. Other interesting places you can find bots: Ilum, at the pub heroic area near the pub base. Voss, in the shadow lands Hoth, in that heroic with all the droids in the little canyon. Ziost. Like, everywhere. You can always tell them. They do the same thing over and over, and have auto decline on for invites. Bioware hasn't ever done anything about them. Best you can do is switch instances. They cant bot everywhere at once.
  12. Guys, the stats on crystals make virtually no difference at all. By the time you get to end game, +41 one way or another means precisely nothing. Mastery perhaps, but it's not gonna affect your #s very much. The only thing stats do is help lowbies do more damage at the early stage of the game.
  13. PTW is really all about paying IRL cash for in game stuff. Cashing in your Uncle Sam Commendations for stuff that gives you a definitive edge in a pvp environment ticks ppl off. But that isn't what this is. Unbinding req items would be more like people selling completed bounty contracts on the GTN, or crafting end game relics and stuff to sell on the GTN. In either case, merely modifying the status of an item in game is no biggie from a dev standpoint, and could do a lot to help people over that initial frustrating "hump" in GSF.
  14. Hey, V. Did you put this in the suggestion box as well? In General Discussion? I've had requests granted there before. Devs look at it. Just a thought.
  15. Hey all. I recently created a thread in general discussion suggestion box requesting that all the req grant items from the daily and weekly by made BoL rather than BoP. It's currently on page 2. Can I get some folks to respond to it, say "aye", and bump it? That's a super simple fix. Who know, maybe we'll get it. See you in the air. Thanks!
  16. What we're really saying here, i think, is: Can you please increase the range of heal abilities for the former ranged dps companions? They don't work as well as they should at present, because the comps are programmed to stay at max dps range from their target, and not approach the player to drop heals on them. The simple fix is to increase the range of their heals. Please.
  17. I just don't agree. From a coding standpoint, it would be no different than the guild bank. Simpler even. Multiple players can spend cash from the guild bank for guild ship summons and repairs, and that's even restricted in most cases by player-set guild ranks. Doing the same thing on legacy storage would be quite easy, I expect. Ok, I get it, they didn't want to include it when legacy storage dropped. But perhaps now it's time. Heck, sell it to us for CCs. I'd pay. As for the credit caps for F2P and Pref, why not impose a legacy cred cap in the legecy bank? That would prevent anyone from amassing more than the cap. Any toon that transfered creds in from the bank above his cap would just be transfering into escrow. Imho, this is very possible and would make a lot of players very happy. Why spend time jumping from toon to toon to find your creds? It's rather absurd.
  18. Ok. I reallize GSF isn't really dev supported anymore. But here's the thing - it's enjoying a resurgence in popularity thanks to the CXP system. GSF is one of the fastest ways to gain CXP in the game. But it's very irritating to people to have to re-master all their ships on each toon they want to level. This problem could be dramatically alleviated by making the Ship requisition grants and fleet requisition grants that drop from the GSF daily and weekly mission BoL instead of BoP. It is a minor change to make, has nothing to do with the framework of GSF. Just tweaking an item in the game. Thanks for considering this request, and for other requests I've made which you guys granted. We appreciate you.
  19. Me too, I'd really like to see this.
  20. Currently, when a player equips the grade 7 cartel starship components on his ship, it says "added to collections". However, it is not possible to unlock those cartel items for your legacy, so you can print copies of them on your other toons. The availability of these components is becoming more and more rare and expensive, to the point that it's now nearly impossible to outfit all my toons with the highest level of starship parts. These upgrades are a necessity for completing the heroic space missions, which are very difficult. Can we please have the space equipment items legacy-unlock-able? Thanks!
  21. Actually, that's not true. The grade 7 space equipment is increasingly rare and expensive. When you equip the grade 7 cartel starship components on a character, it says that they are added to your collection. However, it is not possible to unlock those for your legacy. What we need is to be able to unlock those for our legacy with cartel coins so that we can complete the space heroics on all of our toons.
  22. What a great thread. A lot of really good points. It's really true- the GSF community on the Harbinger is declining noticeably. When I moved my toons over from the Bastion around 8 months ago, it was constant pops all day long, multiple matches going, and SO many more competitive matches than I ever saw on the Bastion. That's not the case any longer. I just got out of a dom match that ended 951 -1000 with under thirty seconds left on the clock. THAT was fun, but it's oh so rare. I happened to be solo q'd for that one - no obvious premades on either side. You can't stop people from grouping for GSF. It's just more fun to fly with a squadron than it is to fly solo - but there are things that bother me. The big problems I see run more along the lines of combat behavior in matches than whether people are grouped or not. 1. When one side is stacked with veterans and the other is full of two-shippers... and all the veterans take out their gunships and mow the newbies down without mercy... I really hate seeing that. Let the new guys dogfight and get a feel for the game. The only thing you learn from being reduced to plasma and debris as soon as you spawn is that GSF is no fun and you have no hope against your enemy. 2. Trip capping newbies who can't even manage to score a kill. I know it happens, and sometimes they're just too inexperienced to even take the sat that you leave undefended for them. But I'm talking about when all three are capped and fortified with two bombers vs. a buncha guys in stock starguards. There really is no reason for those guys to stay in the match at all. Or que up again. ... and other stuff like that. When you're facing a buncha newbies, I don't see any reason to go full bore and squish their guts out. THAT damages the player base, and I think we're seeing the consequences of that to a degree. I always keep a non-meta ship or two in my lineup for those matches that are hopelessly stacked in my favor. I try to avoid killing starguards with slugs at 14500 meters, unless it's an experienced pilot I'm familiar with. There are things we should do, and attitudes we should adopt to make the game more enjoyable for the learners. Or eventually the harbinger may go the way of the Bastion - no pops, ever, except in prime time, and no good matches at all. I applaud Despon's efforts to train new pilots. I used to do that on the Bastion quite a lot. I stopped because it's frustrating to put time and energy into someone who ends up quitting a month later anyway. I could never tell which ones would keep playing, and which ones wouldn't... Of the people I taught GSF to, maybe 1 or 2 still play it at all. But... maybe I need to start doing that again. Now that guilds can have 1000 people there's no reason not to sit on the starter worlds and recruit people on day 1 of their game. Find those who love combat flight sims and start strengthening the foundations of GSF on the server. Just a thought. You've inspired me a bit, Despon.
  23. yeah me too Greezt. There's a pub bomber paintjob that doesn't unlock. >:l still tho. I really didn't think Bioware had any devs left who are aware GSF is a thing.
  24. Please don't get discouraged. Don't give up on GSF. It's really fun once you get the hang of it. You've only played 7 hours. I played for nearly two weeks before i got my first kil. I'm sure it will be much faster for you... If you're finding it hard to deal damage or get any kills, think about trying a gunship. The tier 2 GS - Quarrel/Mangler - is an excellent ship to learn the game on. And you'll start feeling like you're contributing something to your team. It was the same for me. I learned to play GSF on the Bastion back when Drakolich, Pincer, Stasie and their band of marauders played imp side *always*. I didn't even have any imp toons at that point, so it was lose lose lose lose over and over again. I feel your pain. But learning to play against players who are much better than you are will make you better at GSF in the long run. You'll start figuring out how to stay alive and deal damage.
