  1. The fact is that the limitation on the number of attempts per (unattended) pass skews the data. So whether you use a +0 crit companion or a +5 crit companions, chances are you are going to get 1 crit in 5 attempts; in a system where 5 attempt sets are common, a 28% chance to crit is not really any better than a 23% chance to crit.

Now if you could babysit a companion crafting and run 100 units in succession, you might see a difference. but even then, if the numbers are dead on (23 crits in 100 for a 0 crit and 28 crits in 100 for a +5 crit), that is only 5 more units, not all that mind blowing.

All that being said, quite recently, I crit 5 times in a 5 attempts TWICE with +5 crit companions :D.

I run my augment crafting through Kira for the +5. There is a difference because I average 2-3 criticals (a couple times I crticaled on all 5). The others I was getting 1-2. It helps

  2. SWG had "classes" dedicated to crafting. How do you propose to incorporate that into SWTOR and still have a character that can "compete" in story and group content? The answer is you can't. And if the game does not have the capability of distinguishing between a dedicated crafter and not, then the SWG crafting system is no different than what SWTOR has now; given enough time and effort any character can be a master craftsman.

The idea behind gathering materials by actually placing a machine down was a much better idea in galaxies than sending a bunch of alt companions on the same mission over and over again. You actually had to think which is why I saw it was better.....more engaging. In this game I'm not sure why there is crafting anyways

  3. I would assume similar punishment as to the Ravagers exploit for people doing this and very harsh punishment for those that already got caught and punished for Ravagers? Such as perm bans this time perhaps?

If I remember correctly the punishment was tame specially considering they were able to keep their gear. The only ones who had harsh punishments (at least I thought) were the ones who actually SOLD access to the exploit. Other than that suspending accounts for a day to a week was just ridiculous and totally made the punishment worth it since they kept their gear.

  4. I have never even seen that Revanite Walker. I remember the first week of the patch I sat there for an hour and thought it was a broken spawn. Then look on the internet to only find out the genius devs put a weekly mission on a 12 hr timer. Seriously did no one in test tell them this might be a bad idea? I've never finished that weekly so congrats Devs.....I'm assuming that was your goal.
  5. Hello, I bought the bundle Pack from Amazon, and it included 2 months of membership. I noticed when I wasn't a member I only had 2 charactor creation slots ( I only had 1 charactor, and that was 1 out of the 2), but now as a subscriber I have 12. I'm not sure if I'll resubscribe to the game after that time runs out due to my finances, though, I do want to experience all of the charactor classes due to missions and storyline. Should I just create all of my charactors (12) now so that I'm hooked up with all of the classes and have 12 charactors in all when my subscription expires? Then I wouldn't have to buy charactor slots from the cartel market for 600 cartel coins a charactor!

You will get 6 slots to choose from when your sub runs out (if you do not resub).

IMO don't create them all at once. I did that and regretted that decision because I didn't make smart moves on what crew skills I should have had with certain toons. Of course you can always regrind anything but it becomes expensive and time consuming to do so. I would say create 3 characters and play those for a month. Then create another 3. If you don't plan to resub do not go over 6 because you'll end up choosing which toons to put in the cellar.

  6. I would prefer it to be a legacy perk and when unlocked, it will provide a buff like the class buffs, but seperate and like a class buff, can be applied and removed at will...but i guess bioware never thought of it.

This is what I thought it would be as well. The code is there to have i act like any exp buff. I hope that is what they do.

  7. I don't understand the need to nerf Force Storm if I'm taking the damage spec. If I was a healer, ok yes it needed to be nerfed since as a healer you should be able to do damage like that. I picked the damage spec and yet the devs are now saying we are not supposed to do damage? I'm confused. If they think we should be a healer if we are a sorcerer then just remove the different specs and make it a healer, period. It's confusing to say "here is the damage spec" then go make it un-useable as a damage dealer.
  8. Since yesterday, our server's GTN has been strange. There never was a single Master's Shadow Pack on sale, and if it was, it got quickly bought out.

Now, there are a few listed for 1.5 million a piece but no one buys them for that price.

For all previous cartel packs, they were sold for like 300k-500k. Maybe the situation will quiet down over the next few days but right now I am a little confused. Are the Master's Shadow Packs more popular than other packs, or are less players selling them on the GTN?

Has anyone seen the same trend on their servers?

On my server they were listed for 500k. The crate was 10 mill lol.

  9. Why all the complaints for using force storm as the main attack? Have you seen how weak the other attacks are? I understand this is supposed to be the healer class but my spec is damage. If my main objective is kill someone and that is my best attack.....you're saying you wouldn't use it because "it's too easy"? It's fun.....you know what isn't fun, having a spec for damage, having weak DPS and weak Heals at the same time. That would be unfun.
  10. My own fault. I was on the phone, rushing, doing conquest, not paying attention. And bought two stacks of green mats for $9 million each, when I thought I was spending $90K. Never happened to me before. No one to blame but me, solely, squarely. I'm just pissed that I'm one of the suckers who let these frauds fleece easy credits, unearned credits. Took me years of casual play to build that stack - gone in seconds.

Anyway, not asking for any changes. No fixes. No blame but myself. Just venting frustration and disgust.

This happened to me the other day however it was really Bio Wares and my fault. The dam lag is so bad that I clicked on the cheapest but it switched (the sort was lagging) and didn't double check when it asked to confirm. Only lost a million credits but from now on I literally wait 5 seconds before I click anything to make sure the system isn't lagging.

  11. The devs won, they waited us out, but could there still be hope.

    I propose:

    1. Release slot machines for each Reputation cartel pack

(but reduce amounts awarded to help maintain some cartel pack sales)

    2. Remove all craft material from the machines

    3. Include 3 new mounts per machine type

(various rarity - BOP will force players to play multiple times on different characters, which makes a great credit sink)

    4. Increase cartel certificate drop rate

(somewhere in the middle of nerf-prenerf)

    5. Introduce coin drops for the other slot machine types in addition to coin drop for that machine

(example: You roll and you might get the contraband coin, or bounty coin, pilgrims' coin etc)

    6. Create unique themed deco items for the various slot machine based on the pack type that can only be won by that type of slot machines.

    (various rarity)

    Yes

Everything looks fine except increasing the certificate drops. Right now the cost to get a cartel certificate through buying a pack is equivalent cost with the slot machine. The devs actually put some thought behind the nerf, it's actually balanced perfectly with the packs.

  12. This.

Even though I carefully watch this ever since f2p came, there currently are plenty of reasons for me still to stay subbed.

But let's see how they manage the costume designer.

Yep. I tried to craft stuff as f2p, lol. The constraints on the size of your bank account is ridiculous. All the unlock stuff I would have to buy as f2p just isn't worth it.

  13. sigh...do we need to rehash the conversation at what "pay to win" actually means. Because the way you use it, isn't the meaning that just about everyone one else uses it.

P2W-> actual advantage where the ONLY way to get said advantage is via paying for it.

what we have in game is fluff, nothing is required to play this game, nothing in the CM gives you any type of advantage at all over fellow players. it may look better, but functions no different than other items in game.

In game credits are free, you pay to achieve those. so your only problem is that when you play and get credits that using those credits to acquire in game items is a form of "pay to win" no..thats just playing to win...

just because it isn't given to you outright (as a reward) does not make it pay to win....

Well technically the the crystals that can be used at level 10 give you a slight advantage over those who would have to use lower crystals at that level. But yeah, pretty much what you said. Pay to Win infers you are beating something or someone because you have money and they don't. If this was a beauty pageant then maybe you are paying to win.

  14. What is the use of slotmachines after you maxed out reputation???

If you are lucky you get 1 scrap item out of 100 tries, and the rest is reputation trash.

So i wonder if there can come anything good out of the slotmachines besides these reputation or the rare scrap items?

So maxing out rep when the only way to do it before the slot machine is buying 100 packs that are no longer sold or if they are are 400-600k+ each on my server (before the slot machine).

Why does it have to be the do it all machine? Why can't it just have one purpose, maxing out rep? Isn't that enough for ONE single item? Do we need it to be a machine used for farming all mats and certificates as well?

  15. I see them available in the GTN for ridiculous prices, but can they not be purchased some other way? I have reactivated an old account that has not been active since before holostatues were available. I’m not sure if the expansions were purchased for this account, would purchasing them then provide a holostatue for all the characters on that account?

Go find a slot machine, max rep, then proceed to the rep vendor to buy one. I believe it takes 2 or 3 certificates and credits.

It's definitely worth having when you are leveling.

  16. Save that spot for something WORTHWHILE.

What, like another Rishi Lamp or Todempole? Maybe a houseplant that just sits there and does nothing. You would rather have that instead of a machine that will give you max reputation on packs that are not available anymore so you can buy the items?

I want as many machines released as they can.......anything that gives you stuff not available is an awesome idea for those new to the game. Nothing like coming into the game and notice you'll never acquire something EVER because it's not possible to even buy it with real money.

  17. SO (yes yes i know i spend WAY more money on this game than i should, but good for all You since i pay like half a developer salery every month :-) I opened 6 hypercrates and yes the new MErc armor is quite rare (like the revans was) more or less expected by now and Biowares behaviour....but since i got zero Savanna Vorkantikus i then asked 7 other players that probably all inclusing me are the ones spending most money on CC on our server.

In total we opened 65 Hypercrates and zero Savanna Vorkantikus Mount .......

SO im curious who actually got one ? please honest answers as i have a feeling the packs are bugged.

I got it on my first hypercrate, which I wasn't even looking for because I was looking for a slot machine which I didn't get. I was asking people to trade that mount for the slot machine and no one could trade.

If you look it up it's designated as Ultra Rare drop.......which is the rarest drop. Probably something similar to the new slot machine mount.

  18. ive spent probably over 500k (loss) on tokens for my slot machine since the nerf and the only thing useful ive received is 1 cartel market certificate. I understand the economic concerns, but please add some fun rewards that have no impact as such. These machines are now a great waste of time.

Well considering that 1 cartel market certificate is a rare drop in a cartel pack, not such a waste of time. If the average pack cost 200-300k and you might get 1 to drop about 20% of the time.........how is the machine worthless again?

Just because it used to drop certificates at an insane rate (literally got 3 certificates in 10 rolls more than a couple times) doesn't mean the new drop rate is worthless. The slot machine drop rate was out of balance, mats and certificates...right now it's perfect if you look at the entire game and how you obtain these items.

  19. Greetings, I recently started SWTOR last week and really just enjoy the questing aspect. I've read a LOT of threads about what crew skills are best for profit, but I get the extreme impression of need to spend my time logging on for nothing but setting crew missions and checking GTN.

I don't want to be a big time merchant. I just want to know what skills would be best to have simply to get things to sell on the GTN as I run around leveling and sending my companions out. I don't want to stare at the GTN just to figure out item markets and fluctuating prices. Just sell materials straight or craft profitable items without taking much time.

I've gotten a LOT of mixed answers but all for different situations. At the moment I have my eyes on Slicing, Diplomacy, Treasure Hunting, and Archaeology.

Thank you for your time in helping a newbie

Unfortunately crafting items that will actually sell more than likely you'll need rare mats to do it. So judging by what you want to do (which is spend time playing the game and just do this as a casual thing for some money), Gathering skills are best for this. As someone said, Arch/Scav/Bio would allow you to gather mats while you are playing the game from the random nodes you encounter. You can sell them once you get enough. Trust me they all sale because of the need to craft wartime supplies.

Crafting would require you to buy from the GTN or make more toons to get the required skills to get the mats which is something that you do not seem to want to do. Go for the gathering skills, you're best option IMO.
