  1. Going through a couple of bosses today, forcequake felt painfully useless. Dont even bother using it when there are not at least 4 targets.

Balance on the other hands seems to be the superior spec in terms of AOE with the dotspread now. Managed to get at least 4.5k on HM Torque.

I can be wrong though and just need more time to get used to the TK changes. :rak_01:

Still, balance does feel a bit better.

  2. Lets be honest, the PvP nerfs are secondary.

They did nerf it in terms of PvE, because the numbers we pulled were out of their intended numbers from the combat team. Even though a lot of it was fluffdamage.

Of course we will struggle with the numbers in PvE (talking about high HM progression) now, because apparently the ops and the combat team seem to be out of sync. So i think we should bring the discussion over to the operation forum.

  3. Down from 30m (ranged attack because they are squishy) to 10m in the nerf and then temporarily back up by using a cooldown.

Forum trolls should read the entire post instead of just beating down someone bringing up a concern.

Please, while i am strongly against the single target nerfs we got. Read it again please.

Force Reach is not a cooldown, its a passive we learn with level 10. Its always active.

  4. imo - overall, the pve community including the raiders or pve endgamers should all together to develop a strong voice or influence to prevent the nerfs or create a balance between pve and pvp. if many players would do the pve content especially the endgame contents and many players voice their complaints, the developers would think twice about nerfs and concentrate on balancing.

As if they care. There were a thread with a zillean pages on the PTS forum. And another few huge threads about it. All talking about how the single target nerf is too much and only AOE and bugs should be fixed. They still went with the full nerf.

  5. To be honest, we are class canons in terms of PvE.

Yes we can heal ourselfes and shield. One of these shields breaks pretty easy under heavy damage. The instant self heal and especially our force barrier have considerable high cooldown. In a very long bossfight i might be lucky to be able to use force barrier twice, but thats it.

Every Sage/Sorc who ever cleared the Sword Squadron Walkers on HM should know how much of a struggle the incoming damage is compared to other classes and how well you need to time every ability to not get nuked. Especially when you are the lucky guy to catch the large grenade together with the gravity missile and the rain of missiles right after (to clearify, of course it depends on the player and some might not struggle as much as others, but the incoming damage is still considerable for sage/sorc).

We are also one of the few classes that dont have cheese abilitys (dodge roll, hydraulic/hold the line). Only force barrier is of use and highly risky to use for an actual mechanic because our best defense cooldown is gone for a long time.

Sometimes it doesnt matter if i can -theoretically- heal to full when i just get nuked from orbit.

  6. The Sage/Sorc classes are still pretty good. No worries.

It only starts to matter if you are either a dummy dps chaser who likes to parse as high as possible,

or if you care a lot about hardmode progression, because this class will carry a lot less now and will be carried a lot more in terms of DPS (except you are one of the most outstanding DPS players).

Since i like both, the nerf hit me right in the shines.

Class is still good though for 90% of the games content.

  7. With the recent TK nerfs and the small balance buff, i want to have a go at it.

Do you guys have any up to date rotation to maximize the DPS output?

I remember pre 3.0 the real magic was letting MC/CD not eat up too much stacks from FiB/DF to maximize the stack consumption of the other 2 dots. Does this still apply or did the rotation get more static?

I also read somewhere allacrity is even better for balance/madness then for TK. True?

  8. Do you have lag issues while dummy parsing? This can sometimes reduce your APM drastically.

Apart from that you are probably just not hitting buttons fast enough. Like allready said, you can queue the next spell before the end of the previous most of the time.

TK is all about minimizing the delay between attacks. One missed second can allready screw up your end result.

    Your stats look fine btw.

  9. I still hope the next patchnotes will just not include the single target nerfs.

I understand that they want burst specs to be the lowest dps compared to dot specs. But the buff to balance/madness was a joke, it is still lower then even the nerfed TK/FL and way out of what is needed for HM progression.

They may have plans to make it viable again, but in between we get forced to either go Aim or ranged Cunning. This is a terrible way of fixing things.

I'm not the best player in progression but i put a lot of effort into my sage to be good for the team. With real life, i don't have the time to constantly learn new classes. I allready had to do it once after 3.0. This will really take the fun from me.

  10. I can only talk for TK here, but i parsed a lot in all variations,

    Full 6 new bonus: 1x198,5x192

    4 new, 2 old bonus: 1x198, 3x192, 2x186

    4old, 2 new bonus: 2x192, 3x186, 1x180

4 new, 2 old was my go to until the latest live patch 3.1.1. It was an increase in DPS compared to the full 6 setbonus, but only slightly. High crits were similiar.

With the setbonus fix in the latest patch i tried the 4 old, 2 new setup and even though i lost around 40 willpower through using old armorings, the DPS increase was huge. High crit parse was at least 100 DPS higher then with the old setup. Rotation feels better and there are less phases were the rotation feels "slow" in a sense and more fluend.

In dummy numbers, with the new 6 pieces i was somewhat around 4.6k dps average. With the 4 new and 2 old pieces i got consistently closer to 4.7k and above. With the 4 old 2 new pieces i went averagely close to 4.7k and even above 4.8k with good crits.

I also noticed a good DPS increase in bossfights with the 4 old pieces. I broke all my own personal bossfight records on the same day.

  11. snip

First of all, thanks for your detailed reply.

I should have mentioned that the earlier phases are going really smooth, especially with the level and dps output everything until the last phase is fairly ok to do and i dont have problems there.

It is all about the last phase, especially the very last burn phase when both tentacles are down and all the orbs go insane on us.

A big issue for me is that i can not use force barrier as suggested, because the orb will go on someone else if i do, and come back when i come out of the barrier. This might mess up with the stacks, explode on someone else randomly, will just mess up and everyone probably dies. My raidleader strongly suggested not to use it while there is an orb on me.

Just in this final phase i'm focused so much on my defense cooldowns that my DPS output on the boss in either spec is too low. If the starparse "raid challange" overlay is working properly, i only reach 50% of the needed dps in the final burn phase until i die because i'm out of cooldowns, while both the slinger and the shadow reach it fully in their dot specs. That is my problem.

  12. i'm usually doing well in my progression group and i'm at least second highest DPS, but i seem to struggle really hard on Nightmare Brontes.

In that fight, my DPS is always lower then the DPS of our slinger and shadow but its not a huge issue until the last phase.

I tried in TK and in Balance (i thought ticking dots might be more usefull when kiting an orb or getting pushed by the boss) but my output is still lower while i also get shat on by the mechanics. Survivability is a bit of an issue in that phase too. I can survive a push easily, but if i also have an orb or two when getting pushed i'm instantly dead.

I'm usually ok with learning mechanics but this boss keeps me struggling for weeks now.

    Thanks in advance.

  13. I am not saying people will get benched, but probably a lot of rerolling will happen.

Like i said in a previous comment, it might work out for top tier sorcerers of course.

It will be a struggle for sages with all the problems the class is facing allready. If they fix the old problem and bring sages on the same level as sorcerers, the nerf might be acceptable.

  14. They should just tone down Force Storm / Forcequake instead of nerfing our single target damage, and fix Sages.

That would be like a wet dream. :p

For something completely different: How much crit are you running lately? I struggle a bit to find the sweet spot.

  15. Unrivaled AoE damage, although there could be resource problems potentially on certain fights idk yet :p

Besides HM Revan, they will still be just fine for any content if you're competent.

Definitely not a fan of the CD proc still only lasting 12 seconds though... should be 15 to coincide with the LF cooldown imo.

I can imagine this for sorcs. But sages without the allacrity boost and the bugs? I don't know for full 198 yet but still seems to be a struggle for rep side.

  16. Barely noticable?

200-300 dps less is a huge loss and makes all the difference in PvE. All other ranged classes do much more damage. Tell me one good reason why progression teams should run sages or sorcs after these nerfs when other classes do so much more.

Especially the later hardmode bosses require quite the DPS.

The nerfs went in the completely wrong direction. Our burst was not the big issues. We are actually fairly average in DPS output. The only problem is forcequake and maybe a bit too much selfheal. Thats the only thing that should be nerfed. Not our single target.

I also tried it on the PTS and the rotation feels kinda broken with the increased CD on Gust.
