  1. I have this vague feeling that you're mocking me :'D But seriously. I understand saying that the First Order want set up well enough, that is actually one of my main criticisms with the film, but... why did Han abandon a ship taken over by big people eating monsters? Why are sabers powerful? I thought the weirdest criticism would be Kylo having a fancy saber blade when this very game has fancy saber blades but I was so, so wrong.
  2. Keep waiting, I'm a ~casual rat~ and just bought another six months And Sarfux, honestly, just ask yourself how much this friendship is worth to you and decide on that if you wanna talk it out or limit further interaction.
  3. I'm reasonably sure they will in some way or another since he's already shown as a conflicted figure and since he's clearly unhappy about the decision he made on the bridge and knows that Snoke is just using him. Sooner or later something will break through his Knight Templar dedication and make him turn on Snoke. And idk what everyone's issue with having an emotional villain is. Oh woe, a villain who isn't a stoic bore and actually suffers from internal conflict, how terrible. We've already done a villain like Vader, it was fun, we don't need a carbon copy of him. (And personally I'd say Kylo just breaking some stuff while yelling loudly is a more sensible reaction than randomly killing potentially far more expensive to replace personel because he's having a fit, like Vader did <.<)
  4. 1+4: Clearly because the New Republic doesn't want another war. It doesn't span the entirety of the galaxy -- the Republic never has -- we don't even know if it spans the entire territory of the Galactic Empire, and frankly that's unlikely. The First Order seems to have crystallized out of the Imperial Remnant, since just because the Empire got thrown down a pipe doesn't mean every planet / every government controlling that planet will side with the rebles / the New Republic; there were plenty of Imperial loyalists who would refuse. And while this Remnant obviously doesn't have all of the territories of the old Empire, nothing stops it from spreading further into the Unknown Regions if the Republic doesn't, and the Republic wouldn't necessarily if they were hoping to avoid further fighting and just live side by side with what was left of the Empire. Meanwhile Leia and Co would naturally go "**** that noise" and form the Resistance -- once the First Order shows itself to be a threat the New Republic would fund them secretly so no peace treaties would be broken and there would be no official war with the First Order/the Remnant. Meanwhile the FO could be using resources from planets they've potentially found in the Unknown Regions and corrupt corperations (ie Czerka which probably doesn't exist any more but has, uh, spiritual heirs if you want to call it that) to start building weapons such as the Starkiller Base, which might, despite it's larger size, have actually taken less resources to built than the Death Star since it's built into a planet meaning one reason for it's large size would be the mass of the planet, while the Death Star was entirely artifical. 2: They were, like, literally being chased by super dangerous, large, man eating monsters and Han only managed to get three of them with a large crew who all died except for him and Chewie. That's right there in the movie. On screen. Doesn't even require critical thinking about anything, they run away from the bloody things right in the movie and one even jumps onto the Falcon while they're trying to high tail it out of that death trap. 3: Because, for about the hundredth time, he was -- quite obviously -- having a mental breakdown? I don't know how much experience you have with that? But from my personal experience, you don't act logically or use your skills in an effificent manner when that happens. You freak the heck out. Which is exactly what he did. 5: There were at least 2. Another lightsaber and the stun baton the awesome Trooper used. Though why you're questioning sabers being overpowered when that has literally always been the case in Star Wars is beyond me. 6: Who said it was an elite squad? While the map was important they were only up against a bunch of obviously defenseless villagers. Don't need an elite squad for that, so there's no reason not to put in some new Troopers for their trial by fire, especially since Phasma later says this was Finn's first infraction so there's a good reason to assume he was seen as promising -- no prior infractions, displays obvious skill in fighting during the battle at Takodana and when taking on Ren -- and would have been about to be promoted had he not decided to defect. And the Resistance -- or, at least, Leia, we don't actually know just what exactly random Resistance schmuck #153 thinks about Finn -- trusts him because he saved her best pilot, finished said pilot's mission and clearly has earned Han's trust. The movie was fine, it just requires you to pay at least some attention and use your brain on occassion. Which is good, because having it tell you literally anything ever would make for nothing but a boring exposition dump.
  5. The psychoanalyzing in this thread is silly and borderline offensive for sheer stupidity :| Idk, it's kinda not cool, but she's entitled to play with whomever she wants... dropping people fom calls without warning is really rude though :/ If she wanted to be alone with this other friend, she could have just said that, this is not how you treat friends. In conclusion, look for better friends who are not rude and respect you/with whom you're comfortable enough to talk about it when you have an issue with them. Communication is key in all kinds of relationships
  6. Except literally everything is right there in the movie other than the exact reason for why Kylo's saber looks the way it does and people figured out most of it other than the cracked crystals just by analyzing it long before the Visual Dictionary came out. You can see he's upset and not actually happy about his actions right there on the bridge, it's practically written on his face. You can see and hear he's losing it just before and during the fight. You saw him take a Bowcaster shot to the gut, they remind you again with a lingering shot of him loosing a lot of blood from the wound, they make a point of showing him resort to self harm by beating on his wound to psyche himself up repeatedly, they made a point earlier in the movie of showing that both Stormtroopers -- and therefore Finn -- and Rey have experience with melee weapons (they even show Rey repeatedly using the saber like she would her staff!) *and* they even have it said explicitly that his training isn't even complete yet. It's not really JJ's or Driver's or anyone's fault people are incapable of paying attention and putting together visual clues even when they're about as subtle as a brick to the face.
  7. I only got my new glasses recently, I see just fine now Not generically good looking =\= not attractive. So Vader was a failure of a villain because he couldn't even intimidate a four year old (me)? Gotcha.
  8. And again, the crystal he uses his cracked and the crossguards are exhaust vents. It's a visual representation of Kylo's unstable personality and his need to vent his rage via his tantrums. (Incidentally, Vader force choking people for talking **** was basically the exact same thing.) Frankly, as an adult now I'm more unsettled by Kylo's violent outbursts, willingness to harm himself and utter disregard for his own well being than four year old me was by Vader's.... anything when I first watched the OT. (And Adam Driver is really attractive actually.)
  9. It's actually supposed to look weird and unstable. The crystal he's using is cracked and the crossguard is there to stabilize the blade. The saber is actually pretty much like he is as a person Ancient design but modern parts, cobbled together, unstable, dangerous, cracked, but still capable of doing a whole lot of damage, it's rather neat. And as for the fight with Rey... The screenplay actually confirms that he felt weakened and horrified by what he's done, which is presumably why he keeps hitting his wound -- trying to draw on the dark side. Which probably doesn't work and just makes his weakened physical condition worse, hence why he ends up beaten. His training is not only unfinished but he's neither physically nor mentally fit to fight when he confronts Finn and Rey. (And for that matter, both Finn and Rey have experience with using melee weapons -- that one dude on Takodana shows us that Stormtroopers are trained with that baton thingy and Rey had specilized in fighting with her staff -- you can actually see it in the way she fights Kylo, too. On the other hand, we have no idea how much experience and training Kylo has with a saber fight, considering that it's hardly a common weapon any more. Boy should have used the Force, but again, not in a good mental state at the time at all.)
  10. Well, Vader clearly left such a huge imperssion on you that you can't quite remember how to spell his name And yes, VII paid a lot of homage to IV, but it wasn't a carbon copy, just like Ren is his own character with a different story and personality, despite the connections with Vader. Which is good! If he had been just like Vader it would have been boring. I don't care about the villain ~scaring~ me (and hell, not even 4 years old me was scared of Vader, so there's that) I care about getting an interesting character and so far they delivered just that and I look forward to his further development. (And Adam Driver did a fantastic job with his acting, idk why people try to deny that regardless of whether they think Kylo is a good character or not.) Though as far as the actual thread topic goes... I wouldn't mind them putting Kylo's outfit in the game, but I don't really care either way? It's a nice outfit, I suppose, and it wouldn't really be weirder for me than having a Padawan on Tython run around in Thexan's robes but I wouldn't be bothered if they don't include it. (Though I suspect we might get a "cracked crystal" series of colour crystals. Or just a few sabers withe a fancy effect similar to Kylo's. And considering that the Visual Dictionary says the crossguard saber is an ancient design.... But again, tbh, I don't care either way.)
  11. The last one, I guess? I actually *like* the direction the game is taking because it caters directly to what I'm interested in -- I want more story, I don't care about the combat system that much, I don't really do much in the way of group content, I like being able to pick and choose which quests I do for levelling because it lets me... customize the story (eg my JK not doing anything but class story while my SI does several of the planetary ones). Naturally, since I don't believe my taste is objectively better () I do realize that that's not gonna satisfy everyone, hence why I do want them to develop more group content and why I've suggested multiple times that giving people more control over how challenging content is for them might be a thing to look into, but at the end of the day I just enjoy playing the game we got now, and I enjoy the changes that have been made lately. (Now, if they'd fix the bugs...)
  12. I main a Sith, buddy. Gimme dat casual experience as I slaughter these Republic fools! ....And somehow end up at light 3, like, game? I tortured and murdered a man while he was begging for his life, not sure that's made up for by being nice to someone else <.<
  13. Wait, trash mobs fights weren't all the same and boring before? Because I distinctly remember them being exactly that long before 4.0. (Also, with 12x XP or even just 2x XP you need like... a week tops, if you're a slow player, unless you have very little time to play.) And idk, I see just as many people enjoy themselves now (and more than before) than I do see people complain. I play videogames a lot and I'm like the fights better than before, because, like I said, trash mobs were always boring.
  14. Translation: "Look at me my taste is objectively better and clearly the people who.... made this game..... that we're arguing about....... in the first place............ are ~evil~ and you're fool for liking the game the way it is right now because again, my taste is objectively better than yours!!11!!1!" But congratulations, this is some of the most pretentious, self enamored bs I've ever had the displeasure to read on a game forum and that says a lot. Incredible.
  15. I could play the game just fine for nearly 22 months before 4.0 hit, I just don't see the point in boring, extended fights. I'm here to create a character and role play and develop that character throughout the story. I already know that, eg my JK is gonna kill these trash mobs, so what do I care of the fight with them goes quickly? Just means I get back to tole playing sooner. (Not that I'm utterly averse to actual gameplay -- one of the things that keep me from replaying Telltale games for example, is that they're *too* much just "interactive cutscenes" much as I enjoy a first playthrough. But SWTOR's combat system isn't so incredible that I feel the need to have trash mob fights drawn out. Some of the boss fights could stand a buff now, though hey, idk how much easier companions make it now compared to pre 4.0 if you don't start with, like 500 presence or something from legacy unlocks and are new to the game.)
  16. So... it does the same thing as it always has? Personally, playing a Guardian again recently I wished I had something like that or Forcestorm. Get out of the way trash, I've got dialogue choices to make and you've never been interesting to fight anyway
  17. Provided you don't get hit with the romance bug, it definitely is imo. The story is good (and yes, does make sense, because shockingly the galaxy wasn't the same way as it is in the movies over 3.5 millennia before the time the movies are set in. Incredible.) and a lot of the new companions are actually pretty cool (and considering that every class has at least one companion I really don't care about if not outright hate, but I don't dislike any of the new KotFE main characters...) Though if you're really worried about messing something up or temporarily losing companions, you can always replay your main and take the replay through the story. It's what I did -- though admittedly I also wanted to change some of his story decisions -- and I'll probably replay him again when they fix the romance bug because guess who got it with that? :'D
  18. Yeah, I used to solo the impside version at 55 and had to use CC and interrupts and now I walk through it without those when synched to 52. On the other hand, quick Heroic on a planet that loads fast to get another alliance box And neat! I didn't know they changed the mechanics, I'll have to try that one on the classes I don't have enough practice yet I tried the whole training dummy thing some time ago, but it's... really boring. Yuuuuup. Currently the solo fortress is a walk in the park (which I assume is at least partly intentional) and the Heroic... is the same right until you get to the Exarch battle, specifically the third stabilizer. at least it was during 4.0, I imagine it's similar now with maybe needing to grind companion influence a bit more than I did. They just mostly seem to be damage sponges which is imho the most boring kind of difficulty they could do :/ At least the actual duel with the Exarch has some slightly more interesting mechanics. Idk how it was way back when the game first started, but I've been playing for almost exactly 2 years now and I only really had a hard time when I leveled my very first character. After some time I'd learned a) how to properly gear my character b) interrupt for god's sake, c) no you won't need this ability with a longer cooldown in the next fight and d) I just really suck with Sentinels. And then it was easy for over one and a half years before 4.0 hit.... Where it was now somewhat faster. (I've heard other MMOs do have something like difficulty levels and I'm still wondering if that's not something they might wanna try.) I'll watch those later, but I can def agree that the difficulty curve right now is broken. (Even within a single mission, like the Heroic SFs).
  19. Is Darkness on Ilum the pubside Heroic? Cause the Imp version is really easy, at least on my Sorc. (And did they change Aurora Cannon so you can progress and finish without 3 more players? Or do you mean it as practice for working in groups specifically?) I've said before that the game needs to do a better job of teaching people how it actually works, but all I ever get is people complaining about wanting your hand held Story being easy is something I really do like, but I definitely agree that group content should be more challenging and that there should be stuff actually preparing people for that change in difficulty. Right now the change is too sudden (and while the introduction of mastery likely alleviated the problem somewhat I bet there are still wrongly geared people in FPs, right? :'D)
  20. Frankly, story quests have *never* been challenging once you got the hang of how the game works. I'm not a particularly good player, I only do minimal keybinding, and I could still walk through story quests while undergeared with an undergeared comp (eg me only noticing Mako still had some Hutta gear on her just before starting Taris) before 3.0 hit, let alone 4.0. The only thing that's changes is that I could, if I wanted, pull more than one group of mobs, and even that would likely have been survivable by someone who's a better player than me. It's why I don't understand people's complaints. Yes, companions are quite a bit more powerful than before, but story content was always easy anyway, so all that's changed there is that you know walk through it at a faster pace. It *does* show with Heroics, but tbh... how many people just skipped those anyway because they couldn't be bothered? (In addition to them basically repurposing Heroic missions for Alliance grind and new weekly content to chew through rather than random missions you maybe do once while leveling and then maybe go back to when overleveled cause you're low on comms.) The challenge is still there in FPs and OPs -- I hope, I don't really do those much so idk how well tuned they are -- where you can't/don't usually use companions anyway.
  21. That worked for most of the evening but now it's starting to be out of synch again :c I guess I'll do it again and hope it works for the rest of the night so I can get some more levelling done, but this is weird....
  22. I tried playing my lowbie JK some, but the audio doesn't line up with the cutscenes any more and it completely messes up the lip sync (which is awfully distracting...). There was no issue when I was playing my SW three days ago :/ Is this happening to anyone else? I tried restarting the game but that didn't do anything.
  23. Yep. Had it happen with two of the red and black dye modules where nothing showed up in search but I know there's some on sale because I put up some :/ That is... inconvenient, to say the least. Hope they fix it soon.
  24. The issue with her SoR appearance was that it was badly done tbh, which is probably why she got a makeover and Theron didn't Low res textures, her skin colour textured on the upper side of her eyelashes (shudders), apparently suffering from a constant cold, the poor dear... And while I think her old outfit was nice it was also clipping central whenever she moved her head to the side :'D The design itself would have been fine if the model and textures had been done as well as Theron's. I quite like her current face though, even if the extra details on the eyebrows for the new characters took some getting used to. (I wish they'd release more detailed versions of the current face textures we could switch to if we want... My characters look a bit low res next to the KotFE crew :')) And iirc ls Trooper is actually said to have graduated from their military training relatively recently? But it's been a while since I played through the story.
  25. Why would you have to pretend that Tython for the Consular never happened? It was pretty clear that part of your early promotion was to keep up appearances with the missions they're throwing at you *because* you've proven yourself extraordinarily capable. It actually bugs me more that the Consular gets a fancy title for curing some random Masters while the knight saves Tython twice and only gets a promotion at the very end of their class story... And the BH is repeatedly said to be young so presumably they haven't been in the business for that long when Braden discovers them. Makes more sense with the romance options to because someone over 30 with a teenager is just gross. (Like, I'm only 22 and there's no way I'd start anything with a teenager because noooope.) The SW coming from a prestigious Sith bloodline and not knowing the Sith Code is ridiculous tbh :/ If there's anything I ignore it's that. Regardless iirc the class stories go from 3643 BBY to 3641 BBY, Makeb and the Dread War would probably happen in 3640 BBY, FA and SoR in 3639 BBY, Ziost a few months later and KotFE I think starts 1 year after that, so around 3638 - 3637 BBY and then skips to 3633 - 3632 BBY. Which for my characters would mean... my JK is 31 - 32 (but he has weird RP related stuff going on with his age), my Consular game canon wise would be around 25 - 26, same for my SI, SW is 29 - 30, Trooper 34 - 35, Agent 36 - 37, BH 30 - 31 and smuggler 33 - 34. Plus 5 years if you wanna count the time in carbonite though technically they wouldn't age during that. (.....huh. Ashara is 30 - 31 now. Kind of weird not having her be the same age as my SI now xD)
