I just did it the same way. But, when I got to the end of the ledge I was able to jump down onto the wall of the compound, above the taxi pad where a few Champions were. I jumped off the wall far enough away from them that I could mount and fly behind the pad and off to the target! WooHOO!!

I know you guys try hard to make this very different from World of Warcraft and you succeed on many different levels. But one thing that annoys the crud out of me is having to hold down the mouse buttons or keyboard keys to run a long distance to a known point. In WoW you can just mouse click on a place and your toon runs to it. Please consider adding a point-and-click option to the controls so those who want to can utilize it. Apart from that this is the COOLEST game out and has kept me from renewing my WoW subscription for over 3 months now. I don't plan on every renewing it as long as SWTOR keeps the game innovative and engaging, ala Galactic Starfighter! Well done!!!
