  1. Awesome post OP.

I still do not get the QQ about having all level ranges together.

I was PvPing like crazy from 15-20 and really did not have any issues with 50s. Sure I get beat by some, but I also beat others. It definitely was not make and break for my game play. I had a blast and did very well statistically getting 5+ medals and being in the top 5 consistently for damage.

I think a lot of the QQ about 50s against lower levels is more like they were getting destroyed and losing and this is the any easy thing to bring up and QQ about.

Depending on how long ago you were at that range, things are likely different. The level 50s didn't stop getting more powerful at level 50, they started getting pvp gear that give stats the rest of us can't match. Nothing wrong with that(its quite a good thing) but it makes characters that are out of balance with the rest of us who are just bolstered.

I love seeing 3-4 people pouring dps into a level 50 jugg for a fulll 60 seconds before he starts to falter, but when they brought their friends who can challenge them solo, you just can't dump enough dps onto all of them for it to mean anything.

Doesn't really matter, they are gonna be getting their own place to play without interfering with the rest soon enough. Til then... I'll enjoy the lightshow every time we have to kill one :)

^ Sorc doing 600k DMG in a voidstar... Low damage LoL. You use LOS, your slows, stuns/cc, pillar humping works quite well. To the op sorc is very weak sub 20 and gets progressively stronger. The sorc in picture loses from side of pillars and devastated the clumped up enemies on doors with his body mostly hidden to plain view, you just need a sliver of Los.

If you find the need to be mobile spec madness / balance you get 4 instant casts, and force lightning+pebbles = more instant cast procs.

If you have an AoE dot spell, yeah, your gonna rack up huge numbers in the total damage column... and yes, force storm is great for hitting people you can't even see, as is the insta cast chain lightning proc off of force storm. If your enemies are stupid tho, they can keep you moving to prevent that.

Mind linking me a madness/balance spec? Its a new one to me, specially since sorcs don't get a balance tree(its lightning or corruption).

But seriously, I'd like to see the spec, my 2 instant damage abilities could use company.

  3. I need some of what he's having in order to hit for 5-6k or as high as 11k+ in order to actually "one/two shot" bolstered players fresh from spawn.

    :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

To clarify, he was the ONLY 50 in the match, and was in pvp gear, and most of the rest of us were light armor(too many sorcs :p)

In light armor without expertise, someone in level 50 pvp gear can easily hit that hard or harder. I don't think people realize how fast we go squish without our layers of protection and running the hell away

  4. Did you not read the part where he said he is 15? He does not have most of his abilities yet and is basically a free kill ;-)

Like was said above, go level, its the abilities and talents that the bolster system does not help with that makes pvp not a very gpod place for low levels to be. Until they add brackets you are doing your team a pretty big dsisservice by taking a spot a higher level would have normally...

It happens on both sides but I know its frustrating when i look and we have my team of 4 and then of the other 4 the highest level is not even 20.... I know then its pretty much a guranteed loss unless the other team is similarly screwed.

Problem with this is the fact that BW made pvp a viable path for leveling :p

  5. And it hurts... REALLY BAD!!!

I'm Corruption spec'd, and as SOON as I toss an electrocute to mitigate incoming damage on a heal target, I'm swarmed by 3-4 enemies wanting to squash the Sorc...

Perhaps I will roll around with another Sorc, and not just my Powertech guardbot... Hmmmmmm...

This is not the Sorc you are looking for... BUT HE IS!!!

Part of the reason I rerolled republic... harder to see where the flying rocks come from

  6. Also, sometimes when I'm hit, I start flying and i'm "magically" teleported back. I still don't get why.

Anyway it's pretty annoying, I would be happier if it was static, but I don't really mind if they leave as it is.

This seems to happen sometimes to people that I electrocute as they hit the pad... the electrocute doesn't work, but it yanks them back to the ground.

  7. You're doing it wrong.

Properly specced sorcs and sages can do significant damage.

Not as much as the other dps classes, and even then its highly dependent on procs and being able to stand still...

So yeah, the only dps moves you can use while moving are affliction and shock, neither of which is all that good without procs from your channeled abilities

  8. I kinda agree with the OP. I'm a level 50 gunslinger, and yeah, cover is currently broken.

Yes, GS has the ability to be immune to cc for 20 seconds... however, we have to be in cover to use this ability.

We are immune to interrupt, force leap, etc, but everyone has an ability to knock us out of cover when our CC immunity is not up. If we're knocked out of cover, we have to get back into cover to shoot again(mostly).

Cover is extremely buggy. There's no telling how many times I've attempted to cast on another player/mob with clear LOS only to see big red words saying something about how I can't see the target or my ability cancels midcast.

Sometimes I cast or channel abilities, the cast bar completes, and then nothing happens. This dosen't happen when I cast outside of cover.

Very few times have I actually been able to set up and just tee off on other players. Good pvpers will see me set up and try to cc me, if I'm unCCable they LOS me which forces me to move to continue dpsing, thus losing my unCCableness.

Not to mention, rooting yourself in ANY pvp environment is a bad thing. Were I on the other team, I would mob/harass the guy in cover to get him out of cover and moving so he can't dps.

I have a very hard time shooting at a downward angle due to LOS issues from not being able to set up on the edges of ledges.

In closing, I'm not whining about not being OP. I'm just stating the problems I've had as a gunslinger. I'm considering mothballing my GS until the cast-random-cancel-from-cover bug is fixed. :(

TL;DR version: (Don't be lazy. read the post) Cover is broken and buggy. The bugs need to be fixed at least.

Alot of those bugs you describe are affecting us all(randomly cancelled spells, broken los to a target you can clearly see on level ground)

And as far as the tactic of mobbing you to keep you out of cover, I have to ask why thats a problem. The more people you can get to chase you around, the fewer are actually doing what needs to happen to win the match. I love getting 4-5 people chasing me around the huttball field. I know I am a dead man, but if I can just stay alive another 20 seconds, thats 20 seconds more that my team has to score without those 5 bothering them.

In chess, this tactic is know as the fork. look it up.

  9. Welcome to sorc. You have some of the lowest damage in the game. Your job isn't so much to kill people as it is to cause havoc and chaos while your heavy hitters do the killing.

Try electrocuting people when they try to escape your killers, and whirlwind enemy healers. Your a utility class, dps isn't your strong point(tho properly specced, a sorc can do decent, not great, damage).

Use your knockbacks to push people into the acid pools, and knock the ball carrier off the bridges.

your force lightning is a slow, remember that when you see people run.

In other words, don't go out alone, go support other people.

  10. You are not forced to step on the jump pad at any time. There are ways around it; you can go around it and if you're worried about the fact that ball carrier gets thrown into random direction, you can always pass the ball.

It's a risky shortcut, that you are not FORCED to take. Understand?

Wrong, one of my favorite tricks is to use a knockback to push people onto the jump pad to break up enemy formations.

So there is the trick, use them as weapons, not transport ;)

  11. Force speed and any other run buffs should be disabled for huttball for the ball carrier.

If the sorc/sage isnt carrying...their runbuff should be active... other than that minor change... nothing to see here.

Also, force jump, intercede, and any other skill that moves the caster.

You can't forget harpoon, extricate, rescue, and various other abilities that move someone to the caster.

There is a guy who uses intercede to jump to a cloaked friendly from the pit in huttball for basically free points. Similarly, a sage/sorc can run over there in advance, and use extricate to yank the pall handler to the goal.

And the ball carrier would need to be immune to skills like harpoon because yanking him back over and over, or into the fires, is kinda cheesy.

  12. TL/DR All those long bullet pointed posts of nothing and quotes of quotes of quotes make my head ache, sorry.

This is nothing else than typical class bias and an acute case of the grass seeming to be greener on the other side.

This is true. Sorcs are being singled out because :lightning:

  13. Oh god, stop killing level 10 guys or 50th in very very bad gear.

There is no way you will ambush crit anyone near 5k in a few pieces of champion gear. Most the time my ambush just goes "absorb" vs a random shied.

Not personally a sniper, or a cover user at all so I am not claiming to know how it works, but its obvious thats how it was INTENDED to work.

And for 5k hits, I just have my experience in light armor to go by, and yes, I have been critted on more than one occasion for more than 6k, so saying you can sit there and pop people for 5k a shot seems realistic enough.

As far as shields, yeah, that will absorb your first shot. but now the person is vulnerable and easily killed. Maybe not by you personally, but you set them up for your team to kill.

You DO think about longer term than just getting the KB, right?

  14. No sorry even as a melee snipers are really easy to simply avoid. It might hurt your hero that you can't fight them toe to toe, but who cares when in group fights all it takes to negate their damage is a functioning brain and an los object.

This is why they need to set ambushes... find a place to sit with good coverage and plink people for 5k damage a shot.

I keep thinking about the spot in huttball where you can see the side ramp, but have plenty to hide behind.

Have you never played a sniper in a fps? think the same way...

  15. Between playing a Sage myself, and fighting against Sorcerers, I agree with most of your post -- particularly the stacking issue.

There are several reasons why Consulars and Inquisitors stack so well. One of them is the absence of a meaningful diminishing returns mechanic. The Resolve bar does nothing to prevent stacking multiple CC's of the same type, which is one of the reasons to have a DR mechanic in the first place. Currently you can chain-whirlwind your way to victory.

Then there's the lack of synergy buffs. You don't group with another class and think "yay, now I get 5% increased alacrity" or something. Every class is pretty much equally effective regardless of the other classes that are in the group. So overall, where you would expect the team with a variety to have an advantage, it becomes a matter of stacking the single most powerful/useful class.

Another issue is that there is VERY LITTLE in the Sage/Sorcerer healing tree that actually buffs healing output. The healing talents all revolve around synergy and sustainability, neither of which matter very much in PVP. So a non-healing specced Sage or Sorcerer is still a fully capable healer, they're just a fully capable healer with 3 healing buttons instead of 6. And I doubt they're missing our AOE heal or our HoT very much -- especially since they have easy access to the Force Armor/Static Barrier talents. All this on top of some pretty impressive damage, utility, and crowd-control.

Several times I've done matches as a fully specced healer, and done over 250k healing, with my groupmates doing just as much damage -- but we've lost to teams with 5 inquisitors who were doing 50k damage and 50k healing a piece. All you need to do is stack the class, and everyone can keep themselves alive, while also providing duplicates of the best crowd control and utility abilities currently in the game (the AOE knockback & friendly pull are ridiculously useful in Huttball).

Thats not really a class imbalance issue, tho. That a game mechanic issue, and should be fixed if they ever fix the resolve bar(or put in diminishing returns)

  16. Maybe they're killing lowbies or simply bad players? Every level 50 sentinel I talked is like '*** we have 3 dps trees and we do less damage then hybrid classes'. The only thing sentinels are good is pve bosses, we have the highest sustained damage since we don't really run out of our mechanic points.

Can't be sure, the only person I know playing one who I can talk to about it is a bad player

  17. I keep hearing that. Im 50 and nothing changed. I get kited/cced all day long. My damage is like half of what scoundrels/opperatives/assassins/shadows do. 0 cc, just a channeled choke, which ccs me as well.

I have no idea what it is, but your doing something wrong... I see Marauders eating people up one side and down the other in huttball. Maybe see if you can figure it out based on pvp videos?

  18. As a Sentinel I'm calling that bs. Shields/bubbles + insane cc + stealth/running away at high speed. Ofc there are bad inquisitors that just die, but when fighting those really good ones I feel like attacking tanks all I see is ABSORB ABSORB ABSORB and then I'm stunned/dead/knocked away 3 times in a row by the fotm inquisitor army.

Also I fail to see how light armor gives more protection then medium armor. What I get 5% more mitigation? Is that 5% worth no range and no cc?

Are you under level 40? If you are, thats why. Sent/marauders come into their true power really late in the game(last as a matter of fact) while sorc/sages get their power first.

  19. Not new at all. I reported this very thing in beta as well. People with quick computers probably won't notice it but I imagine a few people on mid-settings machines seen it by now. Mostly happend to me in hutball. Every now and then the match would load extremly slow and by the time you make it into the game you won't have time to actually run out if the forcefield is up. It's a bit annoying.

Though on my computer it's usually only the first warzone of the day (if it's hutball) that loads slowly so once it happend once it's not likely to happen again.

Ok that makes sense then... my load times in swtor are very low, so that might be why I have never seen it.
