  1. From a strictly non-mechanical standpoint, I enjoyed the new chapters; but something has been bugging me. It doesn't feel like Star Wars. There are some superficial items that try to keep it anchored, but something just doesn't feel right. The only parts that really gave me that Star Wars feel were a certain person and a ghost chatting over a fire. I know this can't be just me. Most of the surface elements are in place that tell you this should be Star Wars, but what is it missing?
  2. Apologies, edited that out. I think the problem here is that people are worried about bioware ninja romances. One of their games even has you initiate a romance with a dude just by acting civil towards him. In SWtOR, bioware practically shoves flirt options down your throat every time you talk to Theron. Or Lana. Or Koth. I can totally see how someone could mistake this for the game trying, yet again, to throw a Theron romance at you. So while the problem may lie in reading comprehension, I believe there may be a systemic problem which is making the miscomprehension more likely in this particular case. To hell with it though. My main married both Jaesa and Vette. No need for a third.
  3. Just because "one of you" doesn't explicitly mean Theron, does not mean that it explicitly excludes Theron. If this were a passage in a book, you would be right; reading comprehension fail. However the way the scene is laid out, it is perfectly reasonable to think that addressing Theron is implied. Really though, what does it even matter to you? This thread was created to clarify something that wasn't even an issue for you. So why bother posting?
  4. To those claiming that people who made this mistake have poor reading comprehension: Perhaps it isn't that our reading comprehension is worse than yours, but that we read and interpret (or place ourselves in position to misinterpret) social cues more readily than you do? The dynamics of the conversation and character actions make it certainly possible that someone could think they were being prompted to flirt with Theron as we see from this thread.
  5. This right here. This is the type of gameplay that drives me away from games. Luckily it wasn't needed in KotOR. I don't have all day to play video games. I wouldn't call myself casual though because I do manage to play a fair amount. However, there are parts of this game that I won't even touch; the parts that require repeat grinding. No thank you.
  6. Question about setting up my Sting: I've been flying strikes since a little after GSF launched. I used to have a Sting on another character, but with level cap increases and no unique class content I decided to just do everything on one character from now on for simplicity sake. So I'm doing the Sting all over again. I remember using quads, clusters, and blaster overcharge back in the day. Melted pretty much everything even if suboptimal. As I said though, I've been in strikes almost exclusively since then. I like a relaxed flying style. I lurk on the outskirts of engagements and slash in for quick strikes while trying to limit my penetration into the fray and using range as much as possible. This also helps deal with my somewhat high latency which makes knife fights frustrating for me, hence I avoid them. What is the best way to set up my new Sting for my flying style? I don't want to waste too much req experimenting around. Also, I hate rocket pods. They're good, but I hate them. Thanks.
  7. You guys are insane. Ship droid is the best companion in the freaking game currently; but hey if you want to get rid of him, be my guest.
  8. Not when the enemy has more capability to exploit it.
  9. It's certainly a mouthful of something...
  10. The only identifying weapon that sticks out to me is the double saber. Anything with a single saber you can't tell by looks, but can usually tell by what they're doing. Everything else I use the class icons over their heads if it isn't obvious by what I see them doing. Aside from the one I mentioned, weapon is almost meaningless when it comes to helping me identify what I'm fighting.
  11. I've been on teams where they rush to the top when we have like one knockback between the four of us, and the other team is sorc, sin, jugg, etc. I doubt half these people even think about it.
  12. Bow to your Sorc overlords, *****.
  13. Absolutely right. In order for something like this to work we would need to 1. Somehow have a larger pool of pilots. 2. A way to rate pilots that isn't tied to requisition, perhaps a composite of selected statistics. 3. Find a way to group high powered premades that would otherwise eat up a team's entire rating budget. Perhaps allow the possibility for 8v4's or greater. I'm sure some aces would relish the challenge. Btw; I've been looking for someone from Eclipse squadron for a while now. Any room for a pilot that plays at unpredictable intervals? Imps have been having a tough time of it on Ebon Hawk lately. Seen some Novas on though.
  14. If guard instead of reducing damage by splitting it with you, just healed the target by taking half from your health pool and giving it to them... I guarantee they'd attack you then. Healing pisses dps characters right off.
  15. Playing at a professional level against amateurs is a great way to deplete your player base. Imagine if your friendly softball league had a team of professional baseball players in it. Now imagine you were matched up against them every week. The sad truth is that this isn't a principle unique to online pvp. For example, pool leagues assign each player a rating based on their skill level, and give each team a maximum total rating that they may not exceed. (Players found to deliberately tank their rating to subvert this face sanctions). These leagues have implemented these systems because they found that allowing teams to be "stacked" (as they often are in online pvp) actually hurts league participation. I hope Hal has some success in what he is doing. You don't have to be an ace to teach new players how to play the game. Sometimes it takes someone who isn't an ace to give insight and perspective on things you can do as a mediocre pilot when you get face to face with a pilot that you know is better than you.
  16. Wrong. Bolster also increases damage dealt and (to a degree) expertise. This allows people who haven't gotten all their gear to remain somewhat competitive. You're right, defenses between a mastered ship and a stock ship aren't significantly different barring missile breaks and engine/power (which adds to general slipperyness). The gap comes in the amount of damage combined with armor and shield piercing etc that mastered ships can put out compared to a stock ship. My time to kill a mastered ship or a stock ship doesn't change as long as I stay in the same ship. If I switch from my mastered ship to my stock ship, it changes quite a bit, unless my stock ship is a t2 scout, which has a decent stock setup compared to most others. Anyyyyyyyyways, I'm not asking for bolster. I only brought it up as an example of something that came about because the gsf model didn't work for the ground game. A comparison someone else made, not me.
  17. Now you're reaching (as usual). I feel quite a difference burning down a target in one of my upgraded ships vs when I'm flying a stock one. Though I'll admit that might have more to do with the dreadful components most of the stock ships start with (T3 scout, looking at you).
  18. Yeah, you see how well that is going in ground PVP. It's why we got bolster. Besides, in raids you are working as a team against npc's. It's quite a different story against actual players.
  19. 10-20 matches for a functional competitive meta ship. They should have that the first time they step into the game. Skill and experience should be the focus. Not playing throw away matches just to have a competitive ship. I can hop into a stock ship and do well against upgraded ships. I'm sure you can too, but we've played this game a lot. That isn't the case for a lot of people coming into this game though.
