  1. Shouldn't Vader be a little higher on that list? Y'know- given the whole "Chosen One" bit, his high midichlorine count, the rather amazing stuff he did during the Clone Wars, and the fact he ultimately died slaying one of the strongest Sith lords to ever exist?
  2. I've noticed the same problem with numerous missions on Dromund Kaas- Several times I was supposed to lose massive amounts of affection with Khem Val, but only wound up with two or three points subtracted at the end.
  3. I -enjoy- the space combat minigame, I just wish it had more to it and played an actual role in the larger storyline and general end-game play.
  4. The CE Holocam is a wonderful tool. I, like the OP, made a point of stopping to take in the views and snap a few pictures along my leveling journey. Bioware has created some really awesome landscapes and worlds for us to explore- People need to stop every once and awhile to smell the roses!
  5. It's not -hard-, but why do it at all? Why not just 'deputize' awesome side characters that already exist in the class storylines if we want more companions per class? That makes a helluva lot more sense than ripping characters designed for other stories and tossing them into one just for fanservice.
  6. I'm curious how exactly you envision that fitting into the presently coherent class storylines. All classes have side characters in them that would make for excellent additions to the companion roster, if Bioware ever chose to add in more companions for individual classes. There is literally no need to lift 'new' companion characters from other storylines.
  7. Nem'ro is pretty awesome as far as Hutts go. I enjoyed working for him.
  8. I want... all of them. Seriously. I would so grab at least one of each, and I don't normally collect action figures. Take my money, Bioware. Top three of my list: HK-51 Imperial Agent Satele Shan
  9. Okay- So the Galactic Empire's destruction of Alderaan several thousand years past all this was totally reasonable and justified by that logic. After all, Alderaan was a hotbed of the enemy! Who cares if there was a massive civilian population, right? Or is genocide only morally okay when the designated 'good guys' use it?
  10. I used the term racist because as far as I know 'speciesist' is not a word. Entire planets were purged of all life. That is not just attacking the Sith Order, that is organized genocide. And no, it is -not- plausible to think there were no noncombatants; Any society requires people in civilian capacities to function, even a highly militaristic one. The Journal of Gnost-Dural, which is a canon source for this game, has a picture of Republic soldiers kicking down the door of a very poor, normal looking house on Korriban next to the relevant passage about killing all life on the planet.
  11. I'll definitely check on getting a copy of the encyclopedia! I'm sure KOTOR and KOTOR II are great games, but in general I prefer to spend my time reading over playing single player games. I still might pick them up at some point, though.
  12. That is a horrible, horrible justification for genocide. And to assume there were no civilians and noncombatants at all is not a smart concept; It is racist to assume that literally -every- being on Korriban is evil just because the regime and a sizeable portion of the population is. It certainly does not justify exterminating all life from several whole planets.
  13. Wow! Lots more replies to this than I expected when I posted it this morning. As someone whose familiarity with the deeper part of Force lore is in passing only, I really appreciated getting to read the Unifying/Living Force 'debate' here. Lots of interesting stuff. Worth noting that I was never suggesting that the Empire -wasn't- guilty of equally bad atrocities; I just didn't think that, with the tone of what limited things I knew about this era's setting, the Old Republic would be so Sith-like in behavior. I should definitely go watch those history videos that one of you linked- Any book suggestions as well for someone who didn't have access to the KOTOR I or II games?
  14. So I was reading the "Journal of Master Gnost-Dural" that came with my Collector's Edition last night, and I came across this tidbit on page 52: Now correct me if I'm wrong but... isn't this -genocide-? Korriban was left completely lifeless; That means that unarmed men, women, and children who may not have even had anything to -do- with the Hyperspace War were murdered in cold blood after the actual fighting was over. And that one line is the only mention of it! There's nothing preceding or written after it to suggest that Master Gnost-Dural feels even a hint of regret at the loss of life, and in fact, after that one line I posted it is never mentioned again. I'm pretty sure saying that "Well they did x and y to us, so it was fair!" is just not an appropriate excuse here. War or not, a group claiming to stand for justice and democracy should not be committing wholesale slaughter. I'll admit I was a bit surprised to read this in the journal- So what other instances of meditated evil by the Republic have I missed?!
  15. While there are a number of good apps for Android that will let you store and view character data manually, it would be nice to have an official one that can retrieve/update character data directly from the server. I'd certainly pay a dollar for that.
  16. I love how fitted, professional uniforms are somehow a Natzi thing in the eyes of some people. Agent gets plenty of great outfits! Especially in the uniform department. I've got at least 4 good looking variants on the traditional Imperial aesthetic, two or three 'don't mind me, I'm just an innocent bystander' looks, plus the Collector's Edition Imperial Trooper Armor. There's a lot more out there than just that, naturally- These are just the ones I like enough to keep a copy of in my cargo bay.
  17. Y'know, I've kinda stopped taking posts like this one seriously. Every MMO I've ever played that was -not- WoW has been referred to with contempt as a WoW wannabe and loathed on it's own forums. >_> And I've tried just about every MMO still out there- So I'm thinking that a lot of the hatred is the result of all the overhyping they did before the game was released. Because frankly? No, it is not what they hyped it up as. -No- MMO could be what they hyped this up as; So here is my sentence: Star Wars: The Old Republic is just like every other MMO, but has some really great story content.
  18. Just wanted to drop a line here and throw up an introduction to the community of Begeren Colony! I'm a newbie player just now coming into my second week of play, and wow! I'm really feeling the love on this server- Friendly and helpful people, RP to listen in on in all sorts of nooks and crannies of the game, and a rather negligible amount of trolling. Clearly I picked the right server! I'm a 21 year old MMO-addict, currently indulging my hobby on a very weird schedule as I settle into working and potentially taking further college classes. I've played a variety of MMOs- From STO, to Rift, to WoW, and even EQ2; But one thing has always been a constant for me... I love an RP atmosphere! The (sometimes) creative outlet of storytelling and typically nicer population have always drawn to my inner lore freak, and I've had a blast in the past coming up with personalities for my characters. I'd love it if I could get in on some roleplay here, too! I've already met at least one RPer who seems to be running interesting stuff, and I'm very interested in making more friends. I'm not -quite- ready to join a guild, though, thanks to my erratic schedule- But if you want to make a new IC friend or just goof off and enjoy some light socialization, feel free to message or post at any character bearing the surname 'Issus'. I primarily play on my Imperial Agent, Rems Issus. Hope to see you in-game! Regards, Remissus (EDIT: I wasn't sure if it was appropriate to post an IC character bio in this or not, so I excluded it. If anyone is interested in hearing about my RP character, or if such postings are allowed, do let me know!)
  19. Actually, this still happens in Rift occasionally. I think. Maybe. Back in the first few months of live, at least, GMs used to run all sorts of fun random events on the Faeblight and Seastone servers. They were a heck of a lot of fun and an amusing distraction from the grind most players were still caught up in. ...But then they sort of became less frequent as- Like people further up in this thread pointed out, too many folks complained on the forums about missing out on 'em. Shame.
