  1. I think it was designed to encourage new players, and give pref/f2p a taste of sub for a week to encourage them to get a subscription, but it hasn't worked like that for a long time, if ever. Instead when creating a new account with a referral code it seems there's a... maybe 20% chance that it'll work?

FWIW, a lot of folks like myself have put our codes on social media like Twitter and Facebook, and gotten random folks we don't even know to sub. Not just all people spamming fleet and swapping codes with each other.

  2. Nah, i'm just sick over the people b*tching about the so called companion nerf. I couldn't care less, I don't rely on my companion to play this game.

I just wonder how many of these people played before 4.0 and managed to do things, and now they suddenly get there godmode removed they feel the need to quit the game.

Really if you have to rely on an A.I. to play a game, why even bother?

Hey JP, how much do clothes cost in the Matrix?

  3. It is doable still if you have the right class and good gear (augmented 208's at least). My Powertech did it, I havent tried, but the way tanks are, I doubt my sniper could.

But heres the thing all the 'I soloed it so can you' guys are not telling you.

It takes even longer to do (like 15 minutes for the last fight alone) and it is just not in any way fun.

It doesn't matter who can or cannot solo any specific mission, if the whole thing is no longer fun, it doesn't matter!

Even planetary H2's for the alliance boxes take longer now, and that was a grind to begin with. Its not about who can do something or not, its not fun whether you finish the mission or not. That is not the place the game needs to be. I think this is a poor change, makes the game worse and I have no doubt will lose players.

Thank god someone here has some sense. Preach.

  4. How dare you! Mr. Metrics can't be wrong! This has been proven over the years!

    :p

Even though I know you're being sarcastic...you'd be amazed how many companies rely on metrics for everything, but how FEW companies know when to listen to user base and understand metrics do not always equal customer satisfaction. I have worked for two rather large, well known data driven tech companies. One listened to users. The other, not so much. One had insanely high customer satisfaction rates, the other not so much...I'm sure I don't have to explain which one was which.

  5. Having said that, I have no idea how one guild managed to get almost 1 million conquest points within less than 10 hours. It's obviously not crafting, so how do they do that? Rotating alts with a lockout for the last boss of the relevant ops?

Pre-load crafting out the wazoo. Have enough people doing it in your guild and you can rack up conquest points easy. Also, if you have a lot of PVPers in your guild, they tend to rack up a lot of conquest points.

  6. Last I checked (last night) my 31 IL HK-51 had roughly 29% crit....and now he has 13.71%.

Let me introduce you all to this spiffy new word out there in tech company land....it's "HOT FIX".

    AHEM.

EDIT: I "hotfixed" it myself by logging out and back in, so apparently my bad on that one. Really weird though - I should learn to screenshot crap like this for posterity.

  7. They were starting to do well with the armor design...and now...this.

'Scuse me whilst I spew chunks. That gear is butt heinous. The new Vondell mount is aight I guess....some of the decor looks ok too. But this go around, I'll just waste my creds on GTN, not my real cash in the CM.

  8. This forum is just depressing. It's sad. I can't even get angry, I'm filled with just... pity. it is seriously one of the most toxic places I have ever seen online in the last year.

Then leave. Quite simple. No likey? Beat it. And don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya on your way out.

  9. Yes!

Sometimes the companion healers just stop healing altogether. Often they just stand there.

It partly happens because they seem to have some requirement that if they are melee they MUST get in range of the boss. But I don't care about their melee damage! I want them to heal!

Thank you for posting this I had been noticing this and was wondering if other people are experiencing the same thing.

I see that in Tank and DPS stance too. My main is a Merc (heals) and I primarily use HK as my comp. I have him to 31 Influence, plus my Legacy & presence which are pretty decent after 3 years. There are times where HK will literally just stand there while mobs beat on me, even with me triggering him to start the fight and (trying to) let him hold aggro. There were times during a few H2s the other day where mid fight, without being stunned or incapped he quite literally just stood there. All comps stand smack in the middle of AoE regardless of stance they're in. Meanwhile NPC mobs will AVOID AoE. Gee...how did they manage to make the NPC mobs smarter than your dang comp???

I keep reading these posts, dreading logging in to see how bad this all is.

  10. LOL! Wow, dude, seriously?

You really have the nerve to call me out on my attitude when you post something like that? This whole community will be a little less toxic after your inevitable ban.

You have been sh*t talking people all day with your elitist nonsense...build a bridge and get over it.

BTW you're cute when you're acting offended after being an offensive ****** all day. But please, go report me so you feel better about yourself.

  11. So being immortal with healing companion is fun, but the content difficulty requiring the player to play efficiently is not:rak_02:

    Logic at its finest

Yes...infinitely more fun than slogging through mob after mob of trash EVERYWHERE because combined with level sync, you can't just get from point A to point B anymore without a fight.

A nerf would have been ok. A nerf ICBM however, was not necessary.

  12. I'm not telling them they're wrong. It's misplaced passion, but passion none the less. Passion is a good thing. Do I wish they didn't see this as a tipping point ...of course. But, yeah their passion , while good, is definitely misplaced.

Let me correct you. It's misplaced IN YOUR OPINION. And you know, opinions being subjective things...well....yeah.

  13. Actually, I'm most offended by your tone, and your "Holier Than Thou" attitude over a computer game.

I never said I thought the game was too hard. What I DO think is that there are too many people (like YOU) that seem to think that a computer game - something played for FUN the last time I checked - is supposed to be some sort of mind-bending challenge. It's a GAME. The "reward" is having FUN.

But no, some elitist twit like you comes along and says it's too easy - for YOU - so screw everyone else, you want it harder, and be damned to anyone that just wants to log in for some mindless fun.

So thanks for showing us all how obtuse you are when it comes to recognizing how ignorant you look with your elitist drivel.

Oh, and if I offended you...

    Good. That was my plan.

I am hoisting a pint for you...couldn't agree more.

  14. I've been at the office reading all of this and dreading the nerf. Of course I'll go home, run the patch (hope it doesn't take a millennium to download), and give it all a go.

If it's as bad as I am seeing/reading, I will quite likely just install my new Battlefront which came today, and give my Star Wars love to that instead.

For the record...I beta tested, subbed just before RoTHC launched, and haven't lapsed sub since. I have sunk WAY more "real life" cash into this game than I'd care to admit. I have played pretty much all aspects of the game aside from PVP (because the PVP community here is toxic as all get out), and I definitely don't WANT to leave the game. However, if the nerf bat was swung that hard, and my playing through story content and H2's is now painful, then that is just what I'll do. Sure, I'll probably check out the new story chapters as they come out, but it may simply be time to start thinking about having a new "favorite" game.

  15. I will give you a simple reason why. because for last one month thanks to comps i didn't have to deal with ******s like yourself in the game. Thanks for re confirming why i rather play with my comps than people like you who infest MMOS now days.

Gold star for you...couldn't agree more.

  16. The companions WERE overpowered in most of the game.

Regular quests were a joke to complete. Most Heroics were as well, and while they're a bit more challenging now, they're easily still soloable as intended.

The Star Fortress was challenging before to solo, but doable. Now it's an absolute impossibility for virtually anyone, and that's being generous.

Tried on my 65 Shadow, with 208 gear, Lana at level 21. Everything is challenging but ok up to the first Knight of Zakuul, who proceeds to stomp us into the deck plates regardless of what mode I put Lana in. Maybe a tank might fare better, MAYBE. But anyone else? It's grouping or no chance, and even then I'm not confident that the champion level critters can be beat.

This definitely needs adjustment on some level.

This is a perfect example of how you can admit that yes there was a problem with comps being *somewhat* OP, but also acknowledging that Biofail swung the nerf bat way too hard....AGAIN.

For all those douchenozzles saying that the nerf was correct...I hope you all get cold sores.

  17. And yet others say they can. Give it a try for yourself before you voice your opinion on the matter. That's usually the decent thing to do.

And the decent thing for You to do would be to pipe down and stop offering your less than sage opinions in a thread that you clearly disagree with. After all it's the decent thing to do.
