  1. I generally never see 450 slicing mission discoveries on the GTN on my server. The rare times i do, it's 140 - 150k. Additionally, getting them myself is quite rare. I have 4 maxed slicers and run grade 9 lockbox missions all the time. Investigation and Underworld Trading 450 missions are common to get. Treasure Hunting, Scavenging and Bioanalysis less common. Slicing would be the least common. Generally only get a couple per week. Getting a crit via the rich and bountiful sliced parts missions will net you a lot more Thermal Regulators than Slicing mission discoveries will overall.
  2. My Cybertech guy has 2 or 3 mount schematics and I know for sure that I've made them and gave them to other alts in my legacy. But I don't remember if it's bound to legacy or bound on pickup. I'd need to log in and check but I'm not at home.
  3. In order to make level 31 mods / armoring via Cybertech (and enchancements via Artifice), you need to buy 168 rating gear (I think the level 31 mods are 168 rating.... correct me if I'm wrong) with elite comms. Then rip out the mods/armoring/enhancements and Reverse Engineer them. If you are lucky, you'll get the schematic. If you aren't, you just wasted a lot of comms. The other way would be to get the gear via HM ops but that's completely random. And, then, even when you get the schematic, you'll need the rare and expensive mats to make them.
  4. Slicing (for grade 9 slicing parts "Thermal Regulators") Underworld Trading (for grade 9 underworld metals "Beryllius") Bioanalysis (for grade 9 samples and compounds - 4 different kinds used for medpacs and/or implants) Those 3 skills, at 450 maxed (which means you need the digital expansion) are probably your best choices for raw profit.
  5. I did the weekly on two alts last night and saw, for the first time, tons of new players in GSF. It was good to get a match quickly and it was good to have lots of new players to kill. However, my side also had a lot of new players and it was ultimately frustrating playing with them... but I hung in there and completed both weeklies. Couple pieces of advice for the new players that I noticed last night. 1) One or two, max, to guard nodes. In one match, the Imps had C and B and we had A but 6 (yes, SIX) of our players were guarding A. Perfect way to lose. When I told them to move, they stayed. 2) Listen to your teammates. The Subs who have played the game for month or longer know GSF quite well. If they say to go somewhere or do something, they know what they are talking about. I saw several good players on my side get so frustrated that they stopped queuing. I didn't go that far but it was difficult. I'm hoping that in a week or so, the new players get the hang of it and it'll be much better. Then we get to go through it all again when the F2P guys get access.
  6. Got to agree with Mr. Paine. I'm just one piece shy of completing (the HM FP and waiting for server population to come back and I'll get it done tonight). I know that luck is a big deal but I had a great time hunting down the parts yesterday, Got the one on Taris right away. 25m in the first try. Hoth as well. But the Jedi temple one took an hour or so. Dormund Kaas maybe 30 minutes. About half of that work was done solo. Stick with it.
  7. Was it Servo Jammer? That icon is purple with a ship in it but it reduces maneuvering, not speed. Lockdown seems to be the only one that matches with a reduction in ship speed... unless you were affected by a missile or railgun's effects and didn't realize it?
  8. What rank and type of slicing missions are you doing? If you are looking for Thermal Regulators, then, as far as I know, you can only get them from Wealthy, Rich or Bountiful missions of rank 9. You get 6, 4 or 2, respectively; though a crit on the Wealthy mission might give 8 (iirc). If you are looking for the discovery missions from Slicing lockboxes, you get them from any type of Slicing quality mission, even Moderate ones. So just spam them. Statistically, you get a lot of them over the course of a day's gameplay... especially if you have several alts with Slicing. Unfortunately, Investigation ones seem to be the most common (and most useless)... I've only got 1 alt with Investigation and she's got a backlog of Investigation missions. I get them faster than she can do them. As for crit chance on Slicing, maxed affection gives +5% crit chance and then it's only the individual companion bonus. +2 for T7 and +1 for Risha on the Pub side and +2 for Andro and Scorpio on the Imp side. That's it. Nothing else improves it.
  9. The best I've done in my Star Guard (offensively) is 9 kills and 10 assists. Sometimes I get on a roll with that ship. Generally somewhere between 3 - 5 kills is more average for me and an equal or greater number of assists. The Pike just flew so differently for me. Guess I'd have to upgrade it more to fly it better... or just get more experience in it. Pretty good survivability in the Star Guard as well. Most of my deaths come from barrel rolling into asteroids when I accidentally push the button or when I go hunting Gunships, kill them and then they target me specifically. Still, I'll work on the scout for now. I've mastered a strike fighter and I'm not bad in it so time to change it up and try out something else. Still haven't bothered with the Gunship yet... not sure if I ever will.
  10. That seems fair enough. I didn't write that using a strike fighter, I would always get more medals and more requisition than I've been getting in my new scout. In the strike fighter, you'll get some capture, some defense, some kills, some assists, some turrets, 10k damage medal but rarely 20k. Overall, good medals and good requisition. In the scout, it's pretty much kills, assists and damage. Overall, less medals and less requisition... BUT... it's fun killing people!
  11. Fun and overpowered, then? If/When they nerf the scout or buff the strike fighter, I may go back to my Star Guard. Till then I'll work on mastering my Nova Dive.
  12. Synthweaving, Armormech, and (I believe) Armstech all makes augmentation kits. You'll need archaeology or scavenging plus slicing to get the mats to make the augmentation kits. Since augments are a big part of endgame, there will always be a market for augmentation kits. For pure money making using non-crafting skills only, I'd go with Slicing (for Thermal Regulators and wealthy missions), Bioanalysis (for the rank 9 samples and compounds) and Underworld Trading (for Beryllius). All of those mats sell well and command high prices, especially Thermal Regulators.
  13. I only run the Bountiful Bioanalysis missions to try to get those two items. You'll rarely get them from the rich missions. More often than not, the bountiful missions drop them (don't remember the names, right now). Otherwise, continue spamming slicing missions to try to get the Bioanalysis wealthy mission. With 4 characters with maxed Slicing, I generally get 2 or 3 Bioanalysis wealthy missions per day. As well, if you have Rise of the Hutt Cartel, Makeb is an excellent place to get rank 9 bioanalysis mats. They are all over the map plus there are a lot of strong or higher ranked wildlife to kill and get mats from as well.
  14. So, after playing GSF since early access, I got my Strike Fighter mastered and I suddenly got bored it GSF. I found that, even mastered, my ship was only effective against other strike fighters and gunships. The combination of evasion and turning on the scouts meant that I rarely got kills against scouts. After mastering my starter strike fighter, I started on my Pike. But after playing several games with it, I was horrible with it. Could only get 1 or 2 medals per fight. So I stopped playing. Wasn't interested in continuing with a mastered ship and didn't like the Pike. Then, after weekly reset, I wanted to do the weekly bonus so I took out the starter scout (NovaDive, iirc). It's upgraded a bit from the weekly and daily bonuses but nowhere close to mastered. First time I ever flew a scout. First match, I got 7 kills, 7 assists and around 25k damage dealt. I rarely do that well on my mastered strike fighter. The speed and turning of the scout is so much better than the strike fighter. I can chase down fleeing ships and finish them off and I can dogfight against other scouts. Normally, when I get into a dogfight with a scout, it's a waste of time so I boost away and look for another target. Now I know why you see so many scouts every match. They are really fun if you are interested in dogfighting and hunting people down. Sure the striker fighter and the gunship have their own important roles to play but I'm really liking the scout now and it's good that they have revitalized my interest in GSF.
