  1. If they are 'not contributing', they are useless. If they are contributing in some form, they are not useless. Can't be both. The scaled rewards is a good idea. But unfortunately, like many others, it will end up buried under the demands for more bans and restrictions.
  2. Wrong. I've seen several matches turned when people changed ships and we had 3 or 4 gunships sat on a bomber with the heal drone on. And if the teams are evenly distributed in the match, having the means to outliving your opponents can decide the game in your favor. By the way, don't get caught serving yourself from the players you are disparaging. It would be quite awkward... But feeders are contributing; they're doing damage. Even if you can detect a pattern and see a player is running kamikaze attacks, he is still doing damage and will never get flagged as "not contributing". If you can't effectively kick the bad players, then the innocent players are getting punished in vain. And this is how you get players who were just bad at GSF, now pissed and purposefully derailing the matches.
  3. That actually answer the question and is on the topic. But i disagree and here is why. It is true that you can't outheal damage in GSF, but that is only true when you're trying to heal while in active combat. Players retreat, and come back fully healed, and they are not self- destructing, otherwise the message would appear. I've seen Tae-gun do it. I did it myself. This "bot" actually stimulates you to be one of the monkeys in the five monkeys experiment. Unlike the poor monkeys, who have no choice, i'm leaving the room.
  4. Today, i ended up resorting to that, after receiving the 30s warning. With too many foes to evade, i got blown up. Rinsed and repeated til the end of the match. Nobody said anything in the chat, but even if they did, they tried to kick me out, i owe them nothing. That was the most unsettling for me. I was seeing the green numbers up, as teammates flew by to heal, and got kicked for not contributing. I thought it was a stupid bot created by devs, but no, the very people benefiting from my heals kicked me out for not contributing. Maybe some of the blame is in Bioware, for making rules based on infractors, instead of the good portion of the player base. But i think this is a problem of players can't have a modicum of power without abusing it. It would be better if the devs just created a special legacy ignore, pvp only, with a six month expiring date. That would take care of infractors, remove the need for bots, and let players make an assessment if they are really being fair in their complaints. Self-destructors would be put on bench to think about their attitude, but i suspect the prima donnas howling for more bans would also find themselves locked out of queue very fast...
  5. I probably haven't made myself clear. It's obvious you need to do damage. By damage farmers i refer to the players who forsake the match objectives to farm big numbers (usually damage and kills) and top the chart. But that is not the main point. This is the point, i didn't asked about damage type, how much damage you need to do, or % accuracy.
  6. Having damage as the sole metric for kicking players is poorly thinked, and unfair. It only benefits damage farmers, who time and again throw warzones and domination matches in favor of their personal score, and can't be kicked for that. People eventually get tired of it and just park somewhere. Or self-destruct, in case of GSF. But that's just temporary, eventually these players will realise it's pointless, and they will move on to the next step, which is leaving and not coming back.
  7. I rather have fun 80% of my games, but to each their own. I read your wall of text, but... what if all i want is to play casually, for fun? I see from other posts that i'm not the only one questioning why damage is the only way of "contributing". Which would explain why damage farmers can get away with throwing matches in favor of their personal scores, and never get punished, because they are "contributing".
  8. You made my point. I was close enough to be nuked by gunboats, as soon as i left cover. According to you. None of my teammates were complaining. Here is me, "not contributing" my way to the 4th place in a DM, https://i.imgur.com/CeWC6iK.png https://i.imgur.com/BiS9tc8.png And here is me, parked in a way that prevents scouts from sneaking from behind us. But since i'm not glued to the satellite, i'll get the "not contributing" yadda yadda. https://i.imgur.com/MjTr46o.png https://i.imgur.com/7xsZlkY.png We're winning, we can afford the luxury of letting the losing team come to our fortified position. Yet we CAN'T, because we're all wearing rylothian slave collars. Moreover, players who want to throw the match, still do it. Just not the obvious ways.
  9. Was playing DM as a bomber, map was Iokath battle. I've set up a nest where teammates could fall back to heal and refill ammo. Was hit with "you are not contributing" BS; was told by one of the other players to get out and shoot someone, or i would get kicked. Got out, got blasted by gunship. When i respawned, the System message popped, warning me i had 5 secs to damage someone or get kicked. Restoring health, shields, ammo, setting up sensor spawn beacons IS contributing, and can actually make a difference between winning or losing the match. If the bot can't tell between doing other than engaging in dogfight, and really doing nothing at all, then it just end up being another one of those "improvements" nobody asked for.
  10. Players can't foresee when they will get DCed. If they cannot come back before the end of the match, they will get punished anyways. As was also mentioned many times before, it would be better to address the issues aggravating the players. And while there's no solution in the horizon, that the players sort themselves out to avoid animosity.
  11. Exactly. But there are no leagues in swtor. That was the point. You joined the game yesterday and your introductory match is against a premade? Too bad for you. And to add insult to injury, you might also be victim of some karen demanding your removal for not contributing.
  12. PVE - wipe. respawn. try again. PVP - you lose. you're out. wait in queue again.
  13. Well, the situation is not really the same. In pve, a team can afford a couple of minutes to see if the DCed player will come back, in pvp, they often do not. I saw a fair number of arenas turnabouts, when one of the teams lost one player and didn't get a replacement.
  14. When the adversary is winning while they duel in the middle of nowhere, yes, i rather get rid of them. But i take it the gun you want to point at others would then be pointed at you, hence the objection? 😁 In real life football, the teenage juniors league team wouldn't be allowed to play against a professional team of grown men. It's a good idea for pve, but in pvp it could be abused to do wintrade. If bare minimum conditions were required before the forfeit option is available, then it should be good to go in pvp as well.
  15. I'm talking about endgame. And as for pvp, i'm talking about pug groups. No reason why you can't form a team of randoms instead of just joining solo. I agree. That's why i think it's a good idea to go in the chat and form a team where everybody is on the same page. It would avoid having this discussion over and over again. I would like to point out that this would also solve the issue of damage farmers, who ruin war zones for those who want to play the objectives, but are harder to kick out. Also, my idea relies just on resources already available for everyone ingame. As i said above, all of this discussion can be easily avoided by just the players pugging according to common objectives.
  16. There's a custom channel for pve invitations on Satele Shan and it works perfectly fine. It's just a suggestion, You are free to join or not. O.P. complained about players entering a match, running to a corner and hiding right from the start, which is not the same as running a completely lopsided match, your team being completely owned in huttball, or being hanged out to dry by your own team. I agree with O.P., but players with "my way or i kick you" mentality can't have the power to kick other players.
  17. I guess it should work, at server peak times. Any other time, if the players on the losing team leave and there's not enough people in queue, the players who happen to be winning would have the game closed on their faces. Injustice all the same. I believe creating a categories system would make the pvp more balanced and enjoyable, reducing the amount of dropouts. For warzones, something around 10 levels of difference. For arenas, same as wz, plus 3 tiers of armor, with buyable armor tier limited by character levels. Plus you can only get currency for stronger armor by winning matches. For GSF, i don't know, amount of points invested on ship upgrade, perhaps?
  18. The game can't tell the source of the disconnect (eg, power outtage, or alt+F4). The same players who quit the match, would just shut off the game and come back in, instead.
  19. The problem with vote kick is that, if it's badly implemented, it can be abused out of malice or elitism. The problem with removing all rewards for losing is that the game lacks what you have in professional sports: categories. You would either have to find a group of veterans to carry you through the matches, or pray to be pitted against another team of beginners, to ever have a chance of getting something. As for the afks, yes, it's annoying, even more so when your team actually has a chance to win. Create a channel for players to pug with like-minded individuals, with the same goal, pretty much like you would do in PVE. eg lfg WZ objectives lfg Arena - no drag If someone in the party act contrary to what was agreed upon (eg, going afk or dueling in warzone, when the call was objectives), those aggravated by it can simply legacy ignore that person, so they won't get invited into their parties, nor invite them again by mistake.
  20. I saw a topic by @RaithHarth about players ignoring objectives should get lockdown. That ingame solution is not optimal, as most likely the new/inexperienced players would get caught and unfairly punished by it. You can kick griefers out in pve, because there aren't many of them. In pvp, however, there is a large number of such players, trying to convincing them to play the game as it was meant to is a waste of time, and since they are doing damage - and a considerable number of them are subscribers, (so Gozer will look to the other side), there isn't much that can be done about it on that end. On the players end however, there are tools within the game to solve the problem. Creating a channel for like minded players: First thing would be creating a channel for casuals to join, where you could team up with other like minded players to do pvp. I mean, there are channels for endgame content, where players form pugs to do MFP's and Ops and it works, so why not replicating the same solution for pvp? Dealing with self-absorbed players: In case someone is repeatedly wrecking the matches by ignoring the objectives, the others can legacy ignore him. Better that they join the other individuals who think them being good at videogame is the same as curing cancer. Problem solved.
  21. A one-side slaughter, where the other team is dragging the match to have fun at your expense, is not entertaining (should be the purpose of a game), it's just frustrating and a complete waste of time. The "learning experience" excuse is just BS. There's nothing to learn from eating missiles the moment you spawn. The team should be allowed to deliberate about ending the match quickly, by letting the enemy cap all sats, or colliding with the nearest solid construct. Sadly, there's always the individuals that will hold the team hostage in that situation, under threat of kick or snitch. Don't quit the match. You shouldn't be punished for the lack of balance in the game (Dev's fault), or other players wanting appeasement for their big egos. When in such situations, i turn off the game sound, and put a music selection i like.
  22. I play saboteur in pve, and i like the class. In pvp, not so much fun. Hunker down ends, you get stunned, knocked around, and wait on the floor for the other round. So i recently doubled as ruffian, and suddenly, the misery is gone. The balance sucks. Maybe because some of us are just interested in casual fun. That's why i never set foot on ranked pvp. If they really go ahead with merging all pvp, i'm out. I want to have fun, not being screamed at for "not playing the right way". On a note, by their own admission, some ranked chaps see no problem in screwing the regs for those who want to play the objectives. The prospect of being stuck with those guys will also cause more casuals to leave.
  23. PVP unbalance is unsolvable, since PVP and PVE skills are the same, and tampering with a class to be 'balanced' in one game type, will mostly ruin the class for the other. Then, there's the faceroller revolt that will ensue, as players will vehemently protest the removal of overpowered skills from their preferred classes - because being OP is precisely why they are playing those classes to begin with. An alternative would be bringing back the self-heals and anti-CCs, with the exception of healers, tanks, and classes that possess self-heals + reflect + multiple CCs. Instead of nerfing, you bring the other classes up to level to make them competitive. That should not be true for any class in pvp. Instead of competitivity, you have law of the jungle.
  24. Here is my experience with the Xorem bug. As described, Xorem appears as a floating, unclickable name plate in game. I tried to create new characters, and even a brand new account, to no avail. Given that not everyone has the bug, i borrowed a notebook with an Intel onboard videocard - that barely can run the game - and guess what? The elusive Lt. Xorem was right over there, to give me his quest. Since i can't rely on this "fix" (the notebook must go back to its owner), i got the quest in all toons i had, logged back on my pc, did Xorem's quest, and logged back on the notebook to deliver it. It's really annoying that, by being kept from doing this quest, not only you miss the quest, but also a codex entry and the Ord Mantell loremaster achievement. Here is the specs of the machine where Xorem is invisible AMD Athlon FX-8300 Vishera Gigabyte GA78LMT-S2P 6 Gb DD3 AMD Radeon R7 250 1Gb (driver Radeon Adrenalin 21.5.2)
