  1. So my skills atm are CT, UT, and slicing. Why Slicing, Cause I can get patterns from it. Is the fact it pays for itself nice, yes, is it god mode, no. If the mission makes me money it's a marginal amount, no more than I could make running around and killing mobs for credits and drops for the equivalent time. Is it less of a money sink than other skills yes. Especially at low levels. SO can you level it up faster at lower levels than other skills, yes. But there's a trade off. Now because I took slicing I had to dump one of my gathering skills, in this case scavenging. Which means that I'm at a materials deficit to craft all these funky patterns that I'm picking up with slicing. Now I have a few options, one make an alt with scavenging, level them up and have them feed me mats, two bater/trade guildies to feed me mats, or buy them on the AH. So when I need mats I am more than likely to need to buy them from someone, which means that they are going to make money off their choice of crafting skills, skills that I lack. The price of those mats is going to reflect the market. Which means the more money I have to pay for mats the more money someone else is going to make. Which means that they benefit from my choice of slicing. one step removed, but still a net gain for them. Which means any gain from slicing is temporary at best and will be corrected by the market eventually. Others in this thread have made some very good points around this point. Not to mention, it's not like everyone doesn't have the option to take slicing as well. It's a choice open to everybody. Just to head off the inevitable chorus of buts. Most of the objections boil down to, 'I don't wanna ... insert reason here." Which is fine. However this is also a conscious choice, being unwilling to accept that there are consequences to choosing any craft skill. Slicing like any of the skills has a trade off. This would be by design, and it's a darn good one IMO.
  2. With a chorus of singing Gungans, "YUP".
  3. I pretty much ignore the indicators, use the number keys and just choose what I think my character would do. As it stands I'm usually about 2 light side to 1 dark choice. As others of said, I'm not going to compromise my character just to get some gear. IMHO, force choices for non force users is just silly. I'd much prefer something like paragon, renegade points instead. Give me my reputation and my blaster and stick your hokey religion in the after burners.
  4. So if I'm understanding this, three characters, acting as a coordinated group, can take you out, therefore they are overpowered. So your response to this is to remove their primary tactical ability to make it 'balanced'? Are you going to give them the ability to remove your ability to melee damage them in recompense?
  5. Here is the official Naming policy link. Not that is isn't posted all over the place. Section D. http://www.swtor.com/legalnotices/roc
  6. Arguably, they could just include a back sheathe into the Smuggler armours. Then all they would have to do is toss in a generic stock or selection of same.
  7. So I got to thinking, which is never a good thing I'll admit. While the whole kick em in the ouchie bits and shoot em with a shot gun is just lol funny every single time, and just plain fun. My issue is this. Other than making the class play like the rogue in every fantasy game out there, why the heck is there a requirement to be behind my target, while using a SHOTGUN? Don't get me wrong here, I like playing rogues. My main in the last four MMO's have been rogues or rogue variants , so I'm comfortable with the mechanic. However I can't think of a single logical in game reason why positioning matters a whit while shooting someone point blank with a shotgun. I know I know, that ship has sailed and we're stuck with the mechanic at this point, but I'm curious to see if we can come up with a rationale for it. Let the discussion ensue, first round is on me. *barkeep, hit me.*
  8. Not in the least a lame question. I too want my Stetson and duster. Or even better a bowler or a civil war flat-cap! If we're going with this cowboy motif lets for it all the way. SPURS! Think of the ouchie with the kick! Not to mention the jingle jangle as I run and run and run though the zones.
  9. OOOO Latin as well! Vitium - Crime Scelestus - Criminal Constupro - Corrupt Raptor - Thief
  10. Pun's or variations on existing Star wars characters are against naming rules. Now are they going to nab you for Ponda Baba, probably not, Haan Soloo I sure hope so. Jar jar I'll shoot you on sight. That being said, I tend to do tips of the hat to existing names. One of my toons is named Captain Craise, I'd do a Reynolds but I'm sure someone took it already. Also the age of Piracy is FULL of names, Maracaibo, LeGrande, Alexandre, Calico Jack Rackham, D'Ogeron, Every, the list goes on. Then we get to fictional or real rogues, scoundrels and ner'do'wells, Dick Turpin, Ned Kelly, Rob Roy, Slumach, Cartouche, Von Gailingen, el Roto, again the list goes on. Then we get into the animal names, Fox, Shrike, Hawk, or verbs, Flitch for example. That give you a few idea's?
  11. Problem with this is soon my ignore list is full. I'd much prefer the restrictions apply at the base of the need greed mechanic itself. If we are going to be stuck with this type of (IMO) inherently flawed loot system, I'd like to see the policing put into the system itself. IE: Unable to need the item if it is not for your class. Obviously mods are going to be a wrinkle in this. If you need the item it's exclusive, bind to character on pickup, and worth 1 credit until equipped. You are able to trade an item between players for either a limited time, or while in the instance, to allow for the whoops wrong button issue. A graphical indicator on what choice your fellow players have chosen, save time reading chat logs. That's all I can think of for now.
  12. This. Character is the only one for Need, and then only if you can equip it. Using it for crafting is greed. Greed is for companion, or ask the group to pass or if they have already done the quick click to clear the window, ask them to trade it to you. Most of the class quests also have specific companion loot that drops as end rewards.
  13. Redundant, superfluous. At end game you will have companions of almost every type so you could companion need on everything.
