  1. I see, I did know about Malgus attempt to create a different empire and proclaim himself as Emperor, but I never got through the actual storyline there so I never knew the effects and I played it through the perspective of the Republic. As for racism and slavery, I do not disagree with this in the slightest; however my references towards these things are not in the sense absolutist, I was simply stating much of the Empire's views on these things are very much relative and in the larger culture accepted. However a point of fact for viewing things, the dominant views of the culture is often an expression of the ruling class of that culture until a certain upsurge is found to be present within said culture will things change. Sorry for bringing to much into social theory on this, I would just like to assume that while it is a science fiction universe we are talking about, the same mechanisms for societal theory would still be at play here.
  2. With regards to companion interaction, I'm not sure who if anyone has added this at all but I thought it would be a good idea to have it where their were be different scenarios for companion interaction. For example, two companions could get into a heated argument and you have the option of doing three different things. Staying quiet and let things play out or side with or the other about what is being argued for or they could put in an option of being the peace keeper in the fight (they could make the choices vary depending if you are LS/DS or what your relationship is between both companions (if they do this mechanic right, I think they can have this sort of thing throughout all of the quests of TOR). So depending on the choice you make, you will either end up having them make up, have them break out into a fight where you have to separate the two of them and give em a time out (or just watch the show and have some fun with some other companions also watching and maybe one of them intervenes or says something like "I'll go get the popcorn, let me what I missed" lmfao) or have one companion end up disliking you for taking their side while the other gets a good affection bonus. Also, maybe companions giving a little bit more input in the choices you make instead of their being an affection bonus only. I mean it makes me feel like the companion is just a little droid I'm bringing around that makes very little comment on what I do and my actions. It doesn't make the whole experience of having a companion for your quests any better other than simply trying to max out your affection level with that companion. As for the love triangle's, well I do have to state the obvious here... the one with the SW absolutely sucks. In other words, make the love triangles last longer, create a bit more tension if they are all like the SW one and simply don't end abruptly with the single choice scene. Make it more like the tension more like the love triangle you made between the main character of Dragon Origins, Morrigan and Leliana. That type of love triangle would add a lot more spice to the whole romance thing. Also, more quest companions that require you to actually bring the companion to a planet to complete: That would be a lot better. Other than these things, I don't have much to input.
  3. Um... because they interbred with both humans and aliens? We are also talking about an empire right? Because to my understanding that even an imperialist dictatorial empire with slaves in it would have more than just two species in it... right? Also, in case you're forgetting they had other systems they had conquered under their rule. Your entire question of "where did all the humans come from" is simply begging the question that there were only humans, sith/pure bloods and Massassi; which is bad logic even in the Star Wars Universe. Edit: Also on the Sith starting world, there is a quest where they hint at the fact that the number of pure blooded Sith are in the minority in the Empire.
  4. A lot of the issue regarding the Imperial Empire (IE) being evil is very interesting due to the fact that evil is relative, what is viewed as evil for one culture is not so for the other. The IE is not so much evil as its views on what we would traditionally think of as evil (i.e. genocide, slavery, dictatorship, rule by might and strength, etc...) are put into relative terms in the IE. Much of their culture is taken from the Imperialist perspectives of Nazi Germany; to increase and homogenize the rule of Emperor over society as absolute and expand that absolute rule to other systems is in fact exactly what Nazi Germany had done. However, much of this is simply just window dressing and it doesn't really tell us the reasons why they engage in such a culture in the first place much less accept and sustain it. The reasoning can be found at BTC 1347, in Galaxy History on this site. Basically the reason they treat enemies of the empire so and the Republic with much more contempt and vitriol is due to the fact that they're culture and people were completely wiped out. The hatred they have of the Jedi and the Republic is due to the fact that they were nearly destroyed and their entire species was put through a holocaust. As a result, their ethnic-culture has developed a deep memetic for revenge and destruction of their enemies; so as such it explains their darker tendencies towards things we would traditionally recoil from. The Image of the Empire in TOR is best described from the empathy of being the class you are playing in TOR... as a result the empire is not evil. When one promises that you won't be tortured for information and they do it anyways, it's not evil its just standard imperial operating procedure. Your character, depending on what class and path you choose will view it in a certain way (i.e. a necessary evil, regret, apathy, etc...). The best way to view the IE is through the eyes of the personality of the character you created, it's a fairly simple standard of games like these. I have played much of Sith Warrior questline, half of Chapter 1 of the Sith Inquisitor and only the prologue of both the Imperial Agent and Bounty Hunter so I cannot offer that much of a perspective, however that being said people here saying that on the Republic you can't feel wanting revenge or some such issue... actually you can. It's all your choice, even if your a LS Jedi you still can have that urge. The Jedi do not teach people to reject emotion entirely and in the opus dictum of "There is no emotion, there is peace" is not referring to emotion entirely, it is referring to destructive and negative feelings; like wanting revenge, wanting to hate, feeling fear, etc... these things are to be overcome and resisted. They put love in this category because as is said on the Tython by one of the quest givers there that love leads to you favoring one person over another and the Jedi cannot have such an attachment as it leads to blind irrational decisions which will ultimately cause you and everyone else harm. I just wanted to point that out as it is a common misunderstanding here on the forums.
  5. http://youtu.be/mnCsnt53oKM This has been going on for days now and it keeps happening until the area gets depopulated. The solution is obvious, change the damn objectives back to what they were until the faction imbalance and class imbalances are fixed.
  6. People need to understand that bug fixes work in teams. Meaning the team that is fixing the bugs are not the same team developing new content and that team has nothing to do with PR and server fixes (which the fixes to the server themselves are probably more related to the team that fixes bugs). So for people who are bit pissed off at PR, just know it's obviously not their fault if their is no communication between teams. I will state that I'm looking forward to the expansion of the Legacy system, however the video needs to go into a bit more depth so I know what to expect.
  7. Word of advice to people who keep ************ about the glitches and bugs and performance issues. Just take a look at the patch fixes for WoW in the first few months and do the same for Rift and DCU; I'm pretty sure they all had horrific issues. This a video game and an MMO which means there is coding involved. Coding means there will be bugs, there will even be bugs that you didn't even see until you actually implement it. If you want bugs to be resolved, report as many as you find so you flood them with these bugs and they know which ones to fix above all else. The more you have bugs go unreported or exploits go unreported the more of a problem it becomes. For the problem of FPS, the problem is your computer performance obviously because I have the game on the highest setting and it works just fine. Although I have a high end gaming computer, those ************ about FPS are obviously playing on the minimum system requirement instead of the recommended system requirement. Anyone who plays a computer game will know for a FACT, that minimum system requirement's are just enough to get the game going barely. So my advice is either quite the game and get off the forums so we can stop hearing you ***** all day, or upgrade your computer; either way problem solved. The issue's in Ilum, well it's a bit obvious that Bioware ****ed up not having none destroyable npc turrets that pretty one shot anyone coming in range that isn't a friendly in the med centers or spawn areas. That's all it would take to stop the camping of Imperials and this is why I am not going to be doing Ilum until they fix the problem.
