  1. Well if this turns out to be the case and SWTOR is coming a close, you really have got to ask yourself: are you that surprised? End of the day, none of us know what is going on for sure, and whether Bioware or EA will confirm what's going on anytime soon is another matter. But you've gotta look at the whole picture of the game since its beginnings. From day 1, quite frankly, SWTOR has always been "the game that was almost the blockbuster...but not quite". The main issue its had is bugs bugs bugs. Granted every game has them, especially MMOs, but check out some of the games that have run alongside SWTOR and the newer ones that have come out recently, Elder Scrolls, LOTR, WoW, and even some titles from EA themselves (Battlefront), they've been far more stable than SWTOR has ever been. None of course have been without their failings...but frankly, SWTOR sadly, has been plagued with what I can only describe as debilitating bugs, bugs which simply ruin the gaming experience. Now granted, all of those above games i've mentioned above have suffered similar bugs, but no where even close to as many or as often. SWTOR never had the developers or the investment needed to fix them, and these problems have followed it in every patch, expansion and update they've ever introduced to it. Then there comes the business side of it, as with most games, the player base has dwindled. If you think about all of the content released since Vanilla...what has there been really? Reality is, every single release has been complete-able in 2 hours or less on a single character aside from FPs and Ops and so on, and until the most recent releases, Ops had become something of a neglected showpiece. The sheer lack of new Ops coming out removed the need for guilds almost completely, and in all MMOs, fewer guild inevitably = fewer players, and fewer players means less money coming in. Lets face it, most people like playing with other people, especially in end-game content like Ops. When that becomes less easy to do...the attraction to pay is far less. And we all know: less money coming in means less of a business case to keep something running. Especially in the gaming business which is at best cut-throat lol. Ask yourself this: what honestly has there been to attract new players, keep new players or bring old ones back? If you can complete the newer content in such a short time and there's no meaningful Ops coming out anymore; even the latest ones only have 1 or 2 bosses. Just no value for money in paying a subscription for most. I still pay mine as I enjoy the game, but in the scheme of things there arn't many out there who feel the same. Lettixio above hit the nail on the head, it really has been breadcrumbs for a while now...for years frankly. So again I ask, when you think about the game as a whole, after Vanilla: what followed really? What was there to keep players interested and coming back and keep paying? What efforts were there that actually showed real improvement in terms of maintenance to really improve the game play experience and deal with the bug plague? The answer: very little, I wish it weren't the case but you compare it to some of the other bigger MMOs out there and you see when an expansion comes along or even a patch, the content tends to be far larger, especially in terms of end-game content such as ops, raids, etc. SWTOR never really competed with other titles after Vanilla, and for me thats really sad cos I loved KOTOR 1 and 2 and SWTOR was basically KOTOR 3... and to see it diminish and fizzle as it has over the past few years has been pretty awful to watch So once more I ask: IF and I do say IF this is true and SWTOR is coming to a grisly end... are you really that surprised?
  2. All over it like a Rash mate lol. You know as well as I do mate no one that actually works on the game reads feedback. Check out the latest sub figures, most have dropped this and gone BF2 - but of course BF2 is very much in controversy at the moment over buying of chests/boxes/gear with real money. EA arn't in very calm waters at the moment. Anyway, its good to whinge now and then:P
  3. Well I'm really glad this thread has sparked some debate. So I maintain - plot holes, poor writing, laziness. But each to their own opinion and besides debate is fun Keep the debate coming guys. If they do bring Theron back though, I REALLY hope they give you the choice to kill him. Nothing would stop me from swinging the lightsaber even though my toon is pure angelic lightside. I've hated the Theron character ever since it was introduced. Gimmie my old companions back!!! I see no one argued the point about the corny dialogue and superhero landing though
  4. First and foremost, I shall say for the record, I am a huge lover of stories, particularly in games. SWTOR I've loved the Story, but on a few occasions have felt really let down by the lack of common sense the story seems to follow at times in this current expac. SPOILERS AHEAD - You have been warned!!!
  5. OK EA - here it is. Latest content = Broke. Plain and Simple. WHY is it that we pick up the mission from Lana to complete the FP, we hit launch and that takes us to the "Story" FP rather than the Solo one? Which of course means completion of said Story FP does not advance the mission and this is from the LAUNCH button on the damned Mission! WHY in order to get into the Solo FP do we need to go to another console and select the Solo Mission to force it into Solo Mode? SURELY the "launch" button should launch the CORRECT FP?! And finally - Theron Shan is STILL sat inside the Alliance Command Center on Odessen, quite literally stood there at one of the command consoles as a "friendly" in the same room that Senya, Koth and Lana are all stood... as if nothing has happened in the past 2 chapters you've released. This is just LAZY. at least remove him so he doesn't show as being there anymore! Disgusted.
  6. You're having the same problem I did. It really is the most ridiculous thing EA have come up with, but when ya get the mission to do the FP from Lana, just hitting "launch" in the top right or walking into the FP basically - screws you. It puts you into STORY mode and of course you're none the wiser, so you complete the damn FP, come out and the mission hasn't advanced at all. The only way to get this to actually work properly is to wander over to the console next to the entrance to the FP, accept the Solo mission "A traitor among the Chiss" (its the last option) and then if done correctly the entrance will turn a purple colour, walk in and you'll suddenly get a cinematic at the start and then a cinematic after 2nd boss and a 3rd cinematic before the 3rd and final boss. Its retarded, and I feel ya pain mate, I just been through it! I was screaming blue murder. I wasted 2 hours doing that FP. Nevermind the fact that "Story" and "Solo" are exactly the same difficulty for all intents and purposes. But i'm afraid that's the answer mate. You'd think just hitting "launch" in the top right would launch the CORRECT FP, but noooooo, that launches Story Mode unless you pick up the extra Mission from the console. I wish I had better news mate, but there it is. Only way - pick up the Solo mission from the console outside the entrance and walk in. If ya get cinematic of a ship flying down to the surface of Chiss ya in the right FP and continue forth. Good luck.
  7. I've just completed all 9 chapters and I have to agree with the comments here. Ending was very abrupt and with no hint or glimpse that there is going to be new chapters released on a monthly basis like the last expac to keep the players interested... yeah...I'm concerned as to the game's future. The expansion is only 3 days old for all and less than a week for early access and yet on the server I'm on...the sheer number of players announcing in general chat "I'm cancelling my subscription" - players who have completed the 9 new chapters and found at the end... absolutely nothing. Its been every day and different people I've seen at least 3-4 people per day on the server saying that. I'd say so far I've seen at least 20-30 different people say it in total. Whether they go through with it is another matter, but the fact that its being said regularly and in such numbers...if it was a handful on the odd occasion I'd ignore it... but yeah - I wonder how many other servers have seen the same thing. To be honest I felt this expansion was very poor. I like the new veteran mode to make it more challenging, but from Chapter II up its insanely over-tuned compared to Story mode - grand canyon difference in terms of inc damage. I also liked where the story was going - but frankly I felt certain chapters were just "side shows" and felt like they were just "filling" content and the plot holes were gigantic. Examples - SPOILERS: I'm gutted honestly, I really am. I love this game, and I loved the last expansion story line. Now its rather anti-climatic and disappointing. I won't be cancelling my sub unlike those who say they are going to, and perhaps most won't feel as strongly as I do about the expac or as strongly as those saying they are cancelling their subs - but... I wonder about the future... this expac might just have killed this game Just my two cents
  8. I have to agree - this latest chapter was poor and the plotline getting into the realms of silly - I mean really? What was with the ending there? SPOILER ALERT!!!! Really upsetting honestly because I love this game and I loved the first 10 chapters...but now...for the first time since the game launched, actually thinking about my Sub - and I honestly hate that.
  9. Well on "How to defeat Arcann" question - I hope this isn't the case - but - part of me is nagging away saying we pretty much got the answer to that question with the wasteful chapter to go and get a special lightsabre that does extra damage to Arcann and Vaylin (at a low Item rating too which was a joke). I admit - I am biased here - I hated that chapter with a vengeance - pointless and made no sense that the attack went off without you, the main toon, who everyone including the eternal empire and its wife knows - you're the big gun so really? Sadly as this season has gone on - for me - there are too many plot holes developing which is a shame cos i loved the first 10 chapters - but they lost their way in recent chapters in my opinion. To add to your list: You mention how do we deal with the Scorpio situation...well - how about a more fundamental question...*** is up with the Scorpio situation? And this is an honest to god story question here cos I feel like I'm missing a gigantic piece of the puzzle. Scorpio doing what she did - interesting twist, and I like twists - but based on the story of the earlier chapters - you find scorpio in a dump on Zakuul effectively. There wasn't a huge amount of Scorpio character development throughout...so how has she gone from a moody trashed droid leading an insignificant resistance/black market cell - to an intergalactic warlord? Someone help me out with that? Because I feel like I can drive a bus through this plot line at the moment. Any help understanding that would be appreciated ladies and gents.
  10. I was thoroughly disappointed and frankly disgusted with Chapter XII - SPOILERS INCOMING! I know - a rant and a negative one - I've loved the chapters in this expac up until this one - but this chapter was absolutely rank!
  11. I actually made a post about this very point after I completed Chapter 9. SLIGHT SPOILER WARNING HERE GUYS!!! Others responded to my post who fell into the same trap and assumed the same thing - we were all hoping that later chapters would give us another chance to start a romance - but nothing so far up to and including Chapter 12 - and tbh based on what I seen - I'm not hopeful that Bioware is going to give us another chance - so my toon and others in my boat are all in Limbo with the romances for now. Makes me wonder what this situation I'm in will cause when my toon's wife from the first 50 levels returns...but yeah - gutted that I missed that and still annoyed to this day that the dialogue was (in my opinion) unclear as to who the flirt was for.
  12. Yeah it does rather seem like thats the chance gone at least for now - doesn't seem to be anyway back. So as has been said - guess we have to wait until chapters 10 and beyond are released. Gutted though - note there for E.A - that section of dialogue needs to be a bit clearer so it's obvious your flirting with everyone present initially rather than just with one so you have the opportunity to proceed as you intend with a romance.
  13. **OK - Spoiler alert for all those who haven't yet completed Chapter 9 of the Knights of the Fallen Empire!! Don't Read on if you don't want a spoiler!!!** Thanks all
  14. Ahhh Revan - SWTOR - is and was born FROM KOTOR - and Kotor was ALL about Revan - even Kotor 2 was all about Revan. As much as you played the Exile killing off the various Sith Lords & indeed Jedi - the underlying story was about Revan. Spoiler Alert (Is it really spoilers to talk about a really old game? Well anyway - you've been fairly warned!) To those of you who have played SWTOR Imperial and Republic side - particularly Jedi and Sith - you will know by now that Revan is a key figure, on Republic side you release Revan from the Emperors prison - and Revan was supposedly "quelling" the Emperor somehow from being as evil as can be. And of Course on Imperial side is a sort of...continuation from that where Revan is running amok and slaughtering in droves, even got his old loyal droid HK 47 back. Now think back to KOTOR and KOTOR 2 - particularly Dark Side stories of both games. In KOTOR 1 - Dark side - you join with the Dark Side Bastila Shan and and kill Darth Malak, take control of the Star Forge and launch an invasion on the galaxy. Now - enter KOTOR 2 - and the story continues and you get little tid bits of information here and there. Particularly when you are Dark Side. On Korriban you find a holocron of Bastila which eludes that Revan left her behind to go in search of "Something" in the Unknown Regions. We know it's not the Star Forge - he already had that and destroyed it. So what did he find in the Unknown Regions? We also know from KOTOR 2 a few further things: 1. GoT0 (the little black droid who's controlled by Goto) - states that the republic will collapse (in 1 standard year if memory serves - this kinda suggests Revan laid waste to the Republic - not to mention everything else) and if your Dark Side you lose "affection" with GoT0 because you destablise planets as you go (Onderon etc). That suggests combined with the information from Bastila's holocron on Korriban that the underlying background story that has spanned across KoTOR 1, 2 and now SWTOR - is the Dark Side arc. 2. Again on the Dark Side arc of KoTor 2 - You as the dark Exile - conquer Onderon and kill the queen - before the "battle" begins you negotiate with the general of the faction you are aiding that wishes to secede from the republic. As part of the negotiations - you can request in the dialogue among other things (like credits etc) "All of Onderon's Force Sensitives" - Why would the Exile request such a thing? All those people to be turned over to the Exile? - Now remember - the underlying story arc of Kotor 2 was Kreia recuiting the Exile to go out to the Unknown Regions, find Revan and assist him. These "Revanites" now mentioned in SWTOR - the descendants of this request in KOTOR 2? The result of the beginnings of the Force sensitive army perhaps? The first "Revanites" recruited by the Exile in his quest to find Revan and aid him? A long shot I know but fun to speculate! You got absolutely nothing in game if you chose to have the force sensitives as payment. KOTOR 2 was always an unfinished game when it was released - makes me wonder if that has been locked in a desk somewhere and now - the link has finally been made to carry on. Now look at 2.10 of SWTOR - Look at the situation - a Sith and a Republic General working together, and evidently based on the people you kill in the FP's - Jedi Masters and Knights and Dark Jedi are all "Revanites" - ONLY Revan has that kind of influence where he could make Jedi and Sith turn their backs on their respective orders and pull them together to work together under his command. It's also worthy of note - that his presence has united the Republic and the Empire to stand against him (at least to a degree as you've got a Sith working with the Republic to fight against him). OK - She ends up with a bounty on her head courtesy of the Empire - but the principle remains the same. Only an enemy like Revan could cause that kind of effect and it be believable. The Hutt Cartel - didn't unite the Republic and Empire in any remote way - both sides simply went to battle the problem themselves and tried to gain the best advantage they could for themselves. And the Jedi Spirit who communicates with Revan...who is she? Bastila? Or the Exile? In KOTOR 2 - I believe the Holocron mentioned that she wouldn't wait much longer before she went after him and she's no where to be seen in KOTOR 2, on Korriban or anywhere else and of course, Korriban in KOTOR 2 is abandoned and a waste land - my gut says Bastila left Korriban, found Revan, they continued their love affair, found whatever it was Revan was looking for and Bastila was killed by it, my gut says the spirit is Bastila. Where is the story going? I'm looking forward to find out! But I suspect "Finish what he started" - Kotor 1 - he began a huge invasion of the galaxy. But he never finished it... did he? KOTOR 2 - there were still Sith, there were still Jedi, there was still a Republic. That sounds like the job he hasn't finished to me. But what I really hope is answered once and for all...is what he went looking for....and found in the Unknown Regions.... Disagree with my speculations and guesswork and poke fun at the statements of the obvious all you want. Just my 2 cents! Bring on 3.0!!!!
