  2. Are you using your keypad? Map that baby up, use your right hand for the pad and left for the mouse and keep on cruising. Or you can pick up on of those keypad-mice for the same effect and leaving your right hand free.

  4. Gunslinger does sound interesting. Though since I already have played through the smug story I'd probably end up going with the IA Sniper for some variety. As for the other two classes Bounty Hunter/Trooper and Consular/Inquisitor, are they really as OP as the forums make them out to be. I play a lot of pvp, but I usually chalk up all the sorc deaths to focus fire and I haven't played against many BH's.
  5. I've noticed that kind of mismatch between lightside/darkside and what appears to be moral aswell. This has led me to believe that lighside/darkside are not base on a scale of morality, but instead a scale between stoicism and hedonism.
  6. Hi, my name is Donnach, and I'm an altoholic. I've been playing my Jedi Guardian (Tank), and my Scoundrel (Heals), but now I'm looking to roll a new character for DPS. I came onto the forums to check out some posts about the other classes because I don't want to play some FotM class, but all I could determine was that everyone wanted everything nerfed. I want to play a dps class that I don't have to worry about getting nerfed, any suggestions?

  8. Buddy, this game will never be anything like SWG. At no point in development did they pattern any concepts of this game after SWG, moreover, they couldn't. They did not own any intellectual property rights to SWG.
  9. Then you made the right choice. The story is the main part of this game, and it is very obvious that the devs made the class stories and progression the priority during development. As for the balancing questions I don't know why more games don't go the Guild Wars route and completely segregate the two. For those of you unfamiliar, there was a pvp version of a skill and a pve version. I would assume that the same could be implemented here for arena/non-arena skills. Though I do not see the appeal of arena/tdm at all in this game, others sure, but SWTOR doesn't give me that vibe. Moreover, there are so many bugs the devs need to fix first, and a whole lot of pvp balancing. Even when this is completed though you'd probably just go up against sorc/sorc as that seems to be the most commonly played class. tl;dr PvP, PvE, and Arena need to be completely separated in terms of balance. If this is done most fears over Arena would evaporate.
  10. well if you really want to get into some thematic details, the "ammo" is actually generic energy cells, this is significant because the armor you wear plays a giant role in your trooper identity. Essentially you're wearing power-armor that augments all your movements a la Spartans in the Halo series. Subsequently, for you to strike a Sith in the face with the butt of your rifle with enough force to kill him you must expend two energy cells to power the armor to augment your attack. Is that satisfactory? edit: grammar check
  11. I'm a little shocked that such a situation occurred. I'd been in situations where people rolled for things they didn't need out of stupidity or a lack of understanding of the game's concepts, but never with this level of intentionality. Now, considering that this is apparently a new thread for the same forums, I have not all the other arguments presented here, but how does one justify that if I can click need that is an automatic indication that I may. As a Jedi Guardian the game gives me the capability to roll need on just about anything, but is most certainly against commonly accepted courtesy to roll on something that is tailored to someone else. Clarifying loot rules can be time consuming and having a hard fix via the game client will undoubtedly bring about unintended consequences. It sounds like situations like this is what master looter was made for.

Well it that situation the tank becomes an Armored Personnel Carrier, and its role changes: just like us, fortunately I have found out how to effective use the new changes to fit into a new role, and if you'll allow me I'd like to tell you about it: You can still rely on the burst damage you know and love but soloing is now not your role, and you might as well switch out KO for something else. Instead of Shoot First being an opener it is now, humorously, a finisher. Working with a group to defend or take a point, you would want to stay stealthed for a little longer and when a critical opponent, lets say a Sorc, begins to be focus fired to 60% health, you Shoot First (w/flechette round)-> Dirty Kick-> Backblast-> Sucker Punch -> Tendon Blast then maybe a blaster whip or another sucker punch if you got the proc and they should be good and dead. However, as you pointed out you are now vulnerable, so depending on how many opponents are left you will want to pop your defense screen, pugnacity, and dodge as needed and peel off in order to either dump they hate the enemy players are sending your way or pull them away from the objective in order to facilitate an allied objective cap. Though if you haven't gotten the enemies attention you should start laying on the conditions, snaring, stunning, reusing flechette round to pile on some AP and bleeds, and interrupting ofc. At this point I personally like taking a moment to put bleed effects on all the enemies before popping vanish and rinse/repeating tl;dr version You are now more dependent on your team for support, don't try to solo gank and your damage will still be useful in a group setting in order to spike a target before he can get a heal.

  14. It is ugly as all hell. I don't want to talk about expertise, grinding, or progression, just can someone tell me why I have to wear that god awful Champion gear for my Jedi Guardian? There are so many armor sets in this game that I absolutely love, the Jedi Battlelord oranges, the Valorous Peacekeeper armor, etc. Why can't I just rip out the expertise from the champion gear and put it into armor I like huh? Is there some concept I am missing? Please, don't make me look like a half-dressed cyber samurai.
  15. The way I see it is that there is a schism between pvp philosophies: One group believes that every class should have the capability to beat every other class. In this way class choice is subservient to skill and focuses on a more individualistic approach to balancing PvP. The other group believes that each class should have distinct strengths and weakness a la rock/paper/scissors wherein every class has one class they can roflstomp and one class they get roflstomped from. This approach focus on a more collective/team based approach wherein a class fills a specific role, and when compliment by other classes they create a team that is greater than the sum of its parts. I belong to the latter camp if you haven't guessed. I also play a Scrapper Scoundrel, and I've come to realize that it is much to easy for me to kill anyone. Whereas I view the class as filling the role of the anti-caster, focus mainly on lightly armored combatants. Subsequently, I believe that the armor penetration from Flechette Round gives us an unfair advantage against heavy armor opponents when heavy armor wearers should be our achilles heel, and would rather see the AP remove entirely from Flechette Round than the currently proposed nerf to K.O. That is my 2 cents. edit: oh did you want me to comment on the blogsite?
  16. I agree, running in a premade in vent/ts is much more fun. Moreover, just taking some time right before the match to plan out simply strategy has really helped me. lol, I remember this. Oh how far we have come from 2004 OP I'm sorry your server's pvp stinks. Fortunately I am on Vulkar Highway and PvP is still enjoyable over here. I could give you a bunch of tips but I dunno how bad the situation on FoTN is subsequently I'd just suggest finding a nice guild that likes to pvp with you. GLHF edit: rated Warzones ftw
  17. yup, agree. That being said I think they should make it more obvious wth the system does. I know what it does now from reading this forum, but most people don't read the forum. I gotta go tell me guild about the specifics now because for the longest time we had no idea what it did.
  18. Really is a preference to how much min/maxing you want to do, unless you're making the mods yourself I wouldn't pay much for any upgrade less than 3 while leveling. Otherwise you'll just keep switching them up all the time. Endgame though, I always pay for any upgrade.

I realize that BW stopped shading out abilities on cooldown completely because it was bugging out, but I personally will keep pressing one of my longer cooldown abilities wondering why its not going off, only to discover to my chagrin that there is a sliver of a cooldown still left that I could not see with a quick glance at my quickslot bar. Subsequently I'd like them to return to completely shading out abilities that are unusable via cooldown as well as insufficient range and resources. I recognize this is an incredibly minor issue, but I was wondering if anyone felt the same way about the change
  20. Both force push and taunt are abilities that are exclusive to the Jedi Guardian. Sorry buddy, you're sentinel is outta luck.
  21. I haven't read all the messages in this thread so I dunno if someone has already mentioned this: What about the Guild Wars model? In that game everyone in pvp had the same level gear i.e. two rangers had identical stats on their gear, two mesmers had the same etc. In this venue pvp was one based only on knowledge + skill, no gear advantage whatsoever was included. Everyone entered the battle on equal footing. Subsequently, the rewards in that game were purely aesthetic, but were cool enough to make the grind rewarding. I know I spent more time then I should have grinding to get the look I wanted. I apologize if this has already been discussed, otherwise I would like to know why this might or might not work.

  23. Rerolling on a "standard" pop server may be the only option they have right now. Considering that it is still very early after launch and many servers are still experiencing population fluctuations. Bioware is unlikely to perform servers mergers in the next few months as it does take about that long to gather enough reliable data to determine which two servers require a merger. OP I empathize with you, being on a low pop server sucks, and I hope you do get a merger. In the meantime, you will have to reconcile with the unpleasant fact that until more time has passed and the Dev's can discern that the low population is not a fluke a merger will not come.
  24. I have never encountered this issue with taking a side turret. While taking a side turret that is adequately defended is difficult it is far from impossible even with dedicated respawn. This effect, I assume is intentional to allow both sides to maintain one "home base." However, with a little cc, some kiting, and appropriate distraction its pretty easy to ninja a side turret right under defenders noses. To move onto your original point of just camping the two side turrets: while it is a very effective strategy to defend the two side turrets the major difficulty is in securing both side turrets in the first place. Furthermore, the mid turret is hardly as indefensible as you make it seems, the most effective tactic I've seen used is the left/mid or right/mid with a sweeping mob to block caps.
