  1. Below is a link to an interesting 10 top reason to be interested in Guild Wars 2. This is not a way for me to promote a game I'm interested in but more of a way to show how a developer with less money then BioWare can bring more to the table before it's game is even released. Effectively showing how SWTOR is already lagging behind a game not even in retail stores yet. http://youtu.be/xBC_ig73aMs Here is also a Video of the history of MMO's. Showing how Free-to-play is booming in WoW clones and even speaks of how long SWTOR's refined game-play has been around for (You know the one. Where you and a mob take turns beating on each other until your cool-downs are used and one of you is dead. God of War it is not). http://youtu.be/WDXorHNo3eE
  2. BioWare has always had crap customer support. I thought they would pull their collective finger out for an MMO. I thought wrong.
  3. But a good developer also looks at what came before. What others did right and wrong and learns from that. Take Zelda or Halo. Two games that don't take many risks, They both look back and see what others have done. Copy that and build apon it to make something they know people will like. Zelda tends to look back on it self more than others. However, Halo didn't come out looking and feeling like Doom (released 8 year before it). It took what more modern games had done well. Perfected it and added just a touch extra. It was a smash hit. SWTOR has done similar to an effect, in that it took the feel of WoW (more so the cool-down based button clicking combat) and perfected it. WoW was released 7 years previous. But where SWTOR has gone wrong is it hasn't added much to the MMO world other that Voice acting (and once you get to level 50 that takes a back seat). SWTOR is missing a lot of features that are now a staple to the MMO gene. I am not going to list them all as it's all been discussed before by a lot better writers than me. But as a developer I'm sure you can figure out what some of them may be. Posts like this show that there are people out there that don't want to pay money to play a bare minimum game in the hopes that after months worth of subscriptions fees BioWare will add the feature they want, when they could just cancel their sub and play a game that already has it. Like WoW, Rift or even the up coming Guild Wars 2. P.S. Also don't forget this game has been in production for like 5-6 years and has had 200 Million dollars to play with. And yet it's still bare minimum.
  4. I agree. I have already un-sub'ed and plan to return when this game has had enough improvements that it feels like a full priced ready for launch 2012 MMO, with good customer service behind it. I just wish I hadn't shelled out and bought the game already, I could have saved myself some cash. Oh well Lesson Learnt. Next time I'll wait a year after launch. So in my mind Guild Wars 2 (which I haven't even looked into yet) comes out nest year.
  5. It would all depend on your rig. If you/anyone else has a kick-*** setup then it'll run fine (unless BioWare codes it's game engine as bad as a fat man (like me) resists cake). All we want is the option to try and run it if our machines are able.
  6. I'm not 100% clear on this but can't we all lawfully demand our money back since they advertized High Resolution Textures in their marketing campaign and they are not in the product we bought/pay monthly for?
  7. Simple question. If blizzard. The people that own and run the most popular MMO in the entire world do separate Maintenance windows. Why wouldn't BioWare do the same? It seems like a bad idea to annoy half your player base just to be different.
  8. I'll be the first to admit, I love this game. I bet i'll not be the last to admit: I am sick of Maintenance happening during the day in European countries. I'm a Student and Part-time off licence (that would be a convenience store to my American friends) worker. I work evening. There are 4 other people in my class that do the same thing (Different stores). MY play time is mornings and early afternoon when i'm not at Uni. Like on Tuesdays, one of my Uni days off (yet start work at 4pm). If i wake up early i might get an hour in before the servers go down. Then they go down for the rest of the day. As i step foot onto the floor and stand behind the counter i think to myself. "oh the servers are coming back up now" How nice to must be for "other" players of this game living in more favoured countries where the Maintenance is done while most of them sleep. If only BioWare could do the same as every other major MMO out there and separate Maintenance between US and EU. I bet they wouldn't lose as many customers. I could go out and do other thing, and to be honest I always do. But the point is: We shouldn't need to. We pay to play this game as much as anyone else and should be treated equally. And i know. There are people that play during the night that pay too (and to them I apologize for this post). But lets be real, there are a lot more people playing during the day than during the night. Anyway. This is the reason I have Un-Sub'ed. Please vote if you feel the same or similar about this Day-time Weekly Maintenance that effects the EU but leaves most of the US population unscathed
  9. Vote with your wallets people. Why pay more to be a 2nd class customer. Un-sub like many have already. It's the only way big companies like BioWare and EA will listen.
  10. No. what we're saying is: We shouldn't need too while we are awake and it's light outside.
  11. Then the game should not be released till they are ready to handle this type of thing. Please give proof if this. A link maybe. Do you work there? Or have friends that worked on this patch? Bet not. Also to our American friends: "People work during the day" isn't a justifying comment either. I'd bet good money there are more people playing during a week day than during the dead of night (think students and part-time job workers like myself).
  12. Ofc we do. We just want it done during the night in the EU too. How have you not realised this is what we are asking for after the many threads and hundreds if not thousands of posts on this topic? You honestly believe "as soon as possible" just happened to be 2am CST? USA's off-peak time. and to answer your question: Thats why they hire weekend/night staff. Like 40 billion other companies in the world do.
  13. You don't honestly believe they conveniently had it ready just when American off-peak time starts do you? At the exact same time Weekly Maintenance starts?
  14. Just because others have done it. Doesn't mean BioWare should. Plus most, if not all of these "others" learnt from their mistakes and changed to separate maintenance times. And i would like to see some constructive comments from you. Instead of just bashing what people say. There you go again. Because other MMO's that a "Free-to-play" with a tiny budget compared to BioWare (remember they spent 200 Million on this game) are able to do it. If they can do it. Why can't BioWare? And the fact that we don't know why is a problem in itself. What could be so important that they would risk losing their EU player base and not even tell us what that reason might be? Also OmegaMayham you come from America (i checked your bio). You have no idea how annoying this is for us EU players. Come back when they start doing the Maintenance during the day in the US. The thing that gets me is, all these people that make excuses for BioWare's bad customer service. If BioWare where to have amazing Customer Service this game would be more popular. More people would buy it. Making them more money. Giving us more people to play with, while ensuring we have a lot less to complain about. Makes sense to me. No one whats to work in a bad environment so why would we want to pay to play in one.
  15. If isn't a valid reason to justify something.
