  1. Not sure if serious. On a serious note, if they want this MMO to be successful they wont, because they very much stated this is EGA and characters WILL be saved for Dec. 20th release. But yah, I could so see them doing a wipe of selected players if they did the PvP exploit (and its kind of easy to tell who did it).
  2. Then why did Blizzard end up giving everyone who played in the first week or so free game time (3-7 days or so) because of such severe server crashes and lag to make the game virtually impossible to play? And this was at a time when there were less than 400,000 total subscribers to the game. And these figures are accurate since at the time DDL wasn't as mainstream as it is today.
  3. launch day = day people can get in without having pre-ordered or redeemed special code. As well as pay in full for the actual game. ATM those who did DDL from origin have not officially paid for the game and can very easily cancel w/o fear/worry about getting charged.
  4. the usual drivel about complaining about something. You know the type, the ones who would be here posting because the few million people trying to play the game pretty much crashing authentication servers. Guess he doesn't realize that BW is hoping, and probably will get, people not to actually log in on launch day the moment servers go live because they have their character, server and name. Also, the starting zones wont be swamped as badly with a full on one mass invite EGA.
  5. They are saying the 26/27ish of July. SR did say that today and forward the days covered during the 'waves' would be a lot more since this was the lull after the major storm. I put mine in on the 30th and figure and hope most likely to be in on the 1st or 2nd wave. Will definitely ask BW/SR what's up if I don't get in at all since they very much kept claiming how the first 2 days of Pre-Orders were super heavy and such.
  6. I don't think the people who are raging fully understand the numbers involved. They have become inoculated to words such as Million, Billion and Trillion. It is estimated that between 2.5M and 4M people have pre-ordered the game. Thats between 2,500,000 and 4,000,000 people that will try to log in world-wide. There are estimates of U.S sales ONLY of 1,500,000 for pre-order alone. When WoW launched they had approx 280,000 for launch day. (Thread lists Blizzard source post) When Rift launched they claim to have had 1,00,000 go through their early access total worldwide. So the U.S pre-launch population is clearly larger than the world-wide server launch of rift. I am sure the actual game servers will handle these numbers, the question really comes into play are the authentication servers and how they would hold up. Which in turn can really upset players. Feel a bit for BW since it was pretty much a catch-22. I honestly think people would be more willing to over-look HOW people got into EGA but would not overlook the fact if the game kept crashing and lots of server problems.
  7. Because since they started to accept pre-orders they announced from the beginning they will be doing a staggered EGA and that the day you get in very much is determined by the date you enter it. As to the why? Think would would happen to their servers if all of a sudden a few million people just decided to try and login all at once. I was there for WoW's launch which had about a few hundred thousand people on the first days and it was so bad that the game was fully unplayable during the first month because of all the server issues. I mean, it was so bad Blizzard actually credited people between 3-5 days of free game play (depending on server).
  8. They did when I did my order. They also kept reiterating that early access would be determined by when you enter the pre-order code. It's not BW's fault you didn't listen to the instructions.
  9. Those thinking that just adding more people will magically fix the problem need to remember that not all people PvP. And who is to say that people wont just roll on low pop servers to take place of this exploit? Curious to see how BW handles this exploit that is seriously going to have level 50's by end of Day 1.
  10. If anyone has had to deal with the public they learn something VERY quickly. People who are unhappy become VERY vocal and loud. The more they are unhappy the more vocal they are.
  11. Apparently you don't remember WoW launch where they did what you want, letting everyone in. MASSIVE problems for days on end. Was so bad they gave most people 3-7 days credit on game time because the game was 100% unplayable for those 3 days because of constant server crashes.
  12. Sadly, I think he is. Growing trend of kids today. Should see what they demand when job hunting, mind would explode.
  13. They don't get extra free subscription days. Their subscription time starts the day they enter the code after the 20th, same as you and me.
  14. Is BW going to allow the various guild hosting sites be able to create a module so guilds can show their servers status on their website?
  15. Don't know what to say. I would think some at EA when saying 'throughout the day' would mean even some late waves in the afternoon. Should have just said throughout the morning.
