  1. Does anyone feel like this game feels like some kind of online driving game? I'm working on my first toon, now a level 46 Gunslinger, and on some planets I seems to be spending huge amount of time driving from one quest to another. To make things worst, the mission waypoints are bugged. It'll sometime have your drive through opposite faction bases. This happens on the ice planet (forgot name of it), which is irritating. I like the class story and even the side quests, but going from point A to point B is a huge hassle for me. Can we have fast flying vehicles instead (not taxi) so we can simply go point to point without havign to follow a fixed ground route? Or maybe make the driving aspect more interesting, don't know what but perhaps something like Grand Theft Auto where you can ram mobs and run them over? Or do a drive by shooting on mobs?
  2. I like Tom's Hardware web site. Start with the selection of a good CPU/motherboard and go from there. A good article they have comparing CPUs for gaming: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-overclocking,3077.html Don't go for overkill in the CPU department is gaming is your Primary usage.
  3. Also consider getting refurnished units from vendors like Dell.com. They are typically very good value for what they are. Sometimes those are returned by customers who ordered them new but decided they don't like it and returned, or the vendor processed the order wrongly and the computer had to be returned.
  4. I don't mind kill the mobs really, and the quest item can be clicked again if required. If I really want to click it first, I can send my tank/companion to engage the mobs (Corso is strong enough to kill them all in the area I'm in) while I pick up the quest item/click console etc. What I'm curious about is if others are seeing similar type of players?
  5. If your level is high enough (level 10 I think) you can queue for Flashpoints. There are plenty of good loot drops which you can use to upgrade your toon and sell the old ones. Also pretty good credit if you finish the run. While sitting in queue, just run around and kill all the mobs. Target the elites or strong (silver) ones, they tend to drop more credits/better gear, which you can either use or sell for credits. Pick up all the junk and sell them, they help a little when you're broke.
  6. I was doing my usual thing of running around doing my class quest when I noticed this other player, a Jedi I think, who is standing around waiting for me to kill the mobs before moving in to do the quest item (eg. access console). When I proceed to my next quest area, I saw this player again, standing there waiting for others to kill the mobs. I don't really mind, since I now out level the mobs by a comfortable margin and can kill them quickly, but is this common? Wouldn't it be self-defeating for the player if he doesn't fight/kill the mobs for xp, and hence will always be behind the curve and becoming more and more reliant on others to kill mobs?
  7. I was having problems starting the game earlier on too. I would launch SWTOR, login and click Play, and either nothing will happen or the loading screen will show and I'll hear music, but then the entire screen turns pink. I'll have to reboot the computer and try again until I succeed in starting the game. Odd thing was, once the game started it is very stable for me, even when I play for 10 hours a day. The solution I've found was to configure the game to play in full screen Windowed mode. Once I've done this I no longer have issues with starting the game. I think having multiple monitors might have caused this problem. My computer is equipped well beyond what is necessary to play the game (i7 930 CPU, 12GB RAM, nVidia GTX670 GPU and 2 Velociraptor HDD in RAID0 configuration).
  8. I believe the fact that F2P players can only get rewards from 3 FPs per week might have contributed to this. Since they can only play 3 times a week and get rewards, each time they go into the FP they simply need on everything to "maximize" their loot count. As a subscriber on the 6 month recurring plan, I have unlimited access to FPs myself so if I see someone doing this, I either go "eff this" and join in the fun or leave and do another FP. No biggie really. Actually at higher levels I don't even bothered anymore because those useless loots simply takes up space in my bag.
  9. So you quit because you didn't like the action of others? Don't blame it on others, you have only yourself to blame for having such thin skin. Perhaps staying with a single player game might work out better for you?
  10. They have somewhat fixed it in WoW on the later expansions, not completely but it more or less reduced the "Ninja" looting. For example, I cannot hit the "Need" button when playing a Mage class. On the earlier expansions, I'll just ignore it if I were you. You level very quickly from level 1 to 85 now in WoW so you'll wear that gear for like an hour or so before getting a new better one. Coming back to SWTOR, most people hitting need for gears they can't wear mostly because they want those for their companions. Unfortunately the game is tuned so that having a heavily geared companion makes completing quests easier, especially if you're new and this is your first toon (like myself). Just run the FP again, chances are that you'll level pass the gear before it drops again so you won't need it anyway. That's my experience so far.
  11. I like Farmville/Valley of the Four Winds dailies in WoW. And no, seriously, I'm not trolling you about this. I like the MoP expansion and its dailies, which I play almost every day. A little less now that I've started SWTOR but I still enjoy doing those. I've not tried the Pokemon thing yet, now that you've mentioned it perhaps I'll give that a go. Not a bad idea for SWTOR I think.
  12. I'll tell you my secret: I'm French. Just kidding. And no, I don't understand why people automatically think I'll quit a group at the smallest drop of a hat. It is only that when I really do want to drop group, I want it done quickly and not have to wait.
  13. This is not about ability, I'm a new player in SWTOR, yes and hence all the newbie type questions. Its about convenience. When a FP don't go well, I don't want to stick around arguing over petty little stuff or standing around feeling bad and waiting for the timer for me to leave. I want to drop group quickly, no hassle, no drama, and go on with my Class story. After all, a typical player will run the same FP multiple times and there're only so many choices you can make in the dialog (good/evil choices) before it gets boring. So I want to go into the FP, pew pew pew pew....if going is good great, if not, I want to leave quickly and do other stuff. I'm still on my first toon so I'm not a level 50 toon sitting around with nothing to do/see. There are literally tons of content for me to do still and waiting around in a FP, though a few seconds I'm admit, seems a little pointless. Why not give us a instant leave group option just like WoW does?
  14. Sure. All my toon have names starting with "Cyber", if you see someone with that name feel free to ignore.
  15. Not a troll, WoW has it and I'm just wondering if SWTOR has it too. I like it as a convenient key when things don't go smoothly with a group, I can hit it, exit and get on with the Class story.
  16. Something a little more convenient, like a single button? There are times when you get aggro and mobs are all over you, so you'll want to kite and dodge around while trying to leave group. A little irritating to have to do the right-click and select from menu. Something like a EJECT level on a fighter jet if you will.
  17. Is there a way to quickly drop group and get out of a FP? In WoW you can create a macro and bind it to key/button so that you can drop group/raid quickly and get out if things aren't going well. Pretty convenient for me. I know some will consider this 'anti-social" or selfish but there are times things really don't work for me (eg. tank lost, trying to kill every single skippable mob etc) and I'll take the 15min debuff gladly. Also, when the group is in combat, there'll be a delay in you dropping group, which is irritating for me, especially when the tank decides to attack a whole bunch of mobs that are skippable. I'll like to have convenient button I can push and it'll drop me from the group immediately and put me back in my previous location. In other words, same mechanics as WoW.
  18. 15mins debuff is very generous I think, in WoW you'll get a 30min debuff instead. I'm leveling a Gunslinger and I love this system, 15min is so short it doesn't matter if you decide to drop group. Sometimes I'll get a group with a fail tank/healer with aggro flying all over the place, or the tank not knowing where to go etc. I can simply put them on ignore, drop group, run my class quest line and be back in FP again fairly quickly.
  19. How big is your monitor and do you know what is the resolution you're using? If you have a smaller monitor (eg. 17" running at 1280x720 resolution) you might be able to get away with playing at lowered graphics details. I use a nVidia GTX670 myself on a 24 inch monitor at 1920x1200 resolution, max details. Hopefully that'll give you some idea of what kind of graphics card you might want to consider upgrading to. See this site for all the different graphics chip comparison: http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/graphics-cards,1.html
  20. Well lucky me, it just so happened that I made a mistake earlier on and completed the story line in Alderaan before doing the Tatooine story line. So I'm now backtracking to Tatoonie where I out-level the mobs by 9 levels. I guess even with the companion running around naked I should be ok. I'll just take my time in Tatooine until this bug is fixed.
  21. I found out why I'm under-level today. As it turns out, what happened was that I went straight to Alderaan after Nar Shaddaa, I believe the Class story is designed so that I'm supposed to visit Tatooine first. Oddly enough, after Nar Shaddaa I was only like 1 level below the required level for Alderaan but I suppose the gears for companions were out classed by the area mobs and hence the difficulty I experienced. And the conversation with Risha seems to indicate I should visit Alderaan. So I'm now backtracking to Tatooine (after completing Alderaan), which sucks really because everything is grayed out and I earn practically no experience points whatsoever. I guess I'll skip everything else in Tatooine now and try to finish the main story line quickly. What a bummer but the good thing is that since Alderaan was so difficult for me, it really taught me how to maximize every skill I had available when fighting tough mobs.
  22. The ignore system doesn't work that well. Experienced the same thing with WoW, with that many subscribers, many players were intentionally grief playing with sole intention of wiping a group with no consequences whatsoever. Now with lots of Free to Play players online, chances of you being grouped with the same person is minimal. Also, I think subscribers get a free name chance once a month or something like that. I think it will bypass the ignore system. Not 100% sure about this though.
  23. No, I'm on a 6-months recurring subscription plan. I think I must' have missed quite a number of quests to be under-leveled. This time around I used some of my Cartel Coins and bought the 6% XP boost for Flash Points, hopefully that will help when I proceed to the next planet (after making sure I got all the side quests on the current planet).
  24. Thanks, I suspect you are right in that I must have missed a number of side quests. This time around I'll make sure to cruise around the planet a little looking for more quests to complete. I've completed the main story on the planet but I suspect here are many side ones I've missed.
