  1. Pretty much this. It's not adding credits to the economy, just redistributing them thanks to greater supply. It amazes me how many people complain about a ruined economy without understanding what's actually going on.
  2. More or less this. To me, maps aren't where the fun comes in. When it comes to PvP, at least as far as I'm concerned, the other players are the content.
  3. Largely the same. We've lost the double PS windows, but now we have OA on demand and BS comes off CD 1.5 seconds before PS. That gives you about 5 seconds between windows to keep your Cauterize dot going while you make sure you have the right amount of focus and an OA proc for the next PS window.
  4. I switched from my Tythonian Force Master Sabers to the Nightlife sabers. My main is a body type 1 female and holding those sabers and riding the Rancor make her look positively tiny!
  5. Thanks for the answer. In the long run I just wanted to see if it was viable, as I have a strong commitment to my guild. I felt it would be unfair to other guilds, which is why I wondered here first. Above all, my enjoyment from this game comes from helping others just have fun. If I have to chill with SM runs, that's fine.
  6. I must have misphrased my intent. I want to run my main through HM content without removing her from the guild. If it comes to a choice between running the Operations or staying in the guild, I will choose the guild. That's my question on fairness.
  7. Now, just before I toss this out there, I want to say this is a question about what you feel is fair. As some of you may know, I run a modest social guild. I like that atmosphere and I intend to keep it that way, as there are many members who are more comfortable with that. I have several members who even have toons in other guilds to run progression ops, but they often spend a good amount of time still chatting in our guild's custom channel even if they are on their progression toon. I like this, I wouldn't trade it for the world. The only problem is that, while I'm happy to see guild mates able to play the game in a manner that suits them with no pressure, I'm starting to feel a bit of pressure for me in the lack of personal challenge. We've tried to do progression inside the guild several times, but it puts a lot of pressure that seeps out into the general guild chatter that sours the atmosphere that I've been careful to nurture. Now, I consider myself pretty quick to learn, and I even have decent gear, and think that I'd do at least okay in a progression group, but I don't want to leave my own guild. Do you think it would be unfair to try and get my main, an easily replaceable Combat Sentinel, into a progression group with a different guild while maintaining my leadership of LotR? Or do you think there are guilds out there that would be content with that arrangement?
  8. Right? I step away from the forums for a little while, and my post has been overtaken by a lore argument. Let's get back on track, people! Our class is bleeding players, and I want to know what everyone thinks will bring players back!
  9. I misspoke. I didn't mean to say members of another guild in general. What I had meant to say was that if you have a bad experience stemming from a social interaction with another player, it colors your view of that particular players guild, and if you manage to end up grouped with one of those other members, it can color the experience in a bad way.
  10. Touché. It's one of our alt guilds. I have a feeling you didn't quite get the intent of my original post. Rivalries are fine, and can enhance the experience. However, when you get into a group, and one of the members just seems to randomly blurt out "great, another <guild> [f-bomb]tard," it can be very off-putting and even ruin what would have otherwise been a good experience.
  11. That is exactly what I'm doing with all of my alts. I ran it pure with my knight, but now I'm going to be leveling to 55 with my alts then pounding out the class story quickly so that it remains coherent. Luckily the knight story was memorable enough as it was to remain coherent the first time.
  12. Hi guys and gals, I'm the GM of <Light of the Republic>. I just wanted to hop on to say that I've noticed an alarming trend of players to badmouth other guilds if they see them in the same group. I talked with another GM about this and I let him know that I've talked to my members about this situation. For my guild, the following Rule is now in effect: You can dislike a player all you want, but try to give a guild the benefit of the doubt. If someone trash talks our guild, do not retaliate, just continue business as usual. <Lite of the Republic> and <Light of the Empire> will be following the same rule. I wouldn't presume to tell other GMs what to do, but as the leader of a social guild, I generally want people to have fun, and not have extra stress when they see that they are paired up with the members of another guild. I hope you all share the same desire, and we can move on together in cooperation.
  13. Light of the Republic is still around, with a good handful of our Dalborra members still in officer positions.
  14. I think you misunderstood the nature of my original post. I'm not angry that we're not landsliding other classes by 300-400 dps anymore. The thing that's been disconcerting is that every time the devs roll out across the board balance changes, it invariably includes a buff to pretty much every other class while Sentinels and Marauders are often left receiving minor nerf after minor nerf. Much of the time it's not warranted, as most complaints about one class or another being overpowered is based mostly on the fact that the whiners don't understand how to play their own class. Not asking for a buff, really. It seems like, by and large, the devs are removing RNG from the procs that serve as the central point upon which any given spec is built. It would be nice if they could do that for each of the specs, including combat and watchman, to help bring dps into a more controllable platform than RNG can supply.
  15. The Armorings are, without a doubt. Which some of the other replies should have noticed what you are asking about. The ~100 strength is not equal to the 15% damage proc from zen. That being said, when it comes to picking up mods/enhancements from the comms vender, if you're a combat sentinel, then go for the foestoppper gloves. They have just the right mod and enhancement for stacking power and surge.
  16. Don't get me wrong, I main a Sentinel and do just fine in operations. I just sigh wistfully every time I see other advanced classes getting all sorts of love while we are slowly whittled away at. My question is, what do you think would make our class as rewarding to play as other classes for new players? My first thought is to tame the RNG a bit more. My guild mates will giggle at my team speak frustration when I get a dry spell for Opportune Attack. Something similar to the guaranteed stacking proc that the Guardians now enjoy would be nice. Now that I've said my piece, I want to hear what the rest of you think.
  17. If you're running, sure, you need to control the weapon so it isn't swinging wildly about. But once you're face to face with an opponent, keeping the blade back or to the side just offers an easy target. Since the lightsaber is used for defense as well as offense, it is best to keep it between you and your opponent to parry and block.
  18. Watch some Kendo matches, then tell me again if you feel that way.
  19. Let me start by advising everyone that I am terminally BAD at PVP. As in, if you see me in your team, we will lose. So, I avoid it like the plague, usually. However, a friend and I were bored, and decided to go World Boss Hunting. That's when we noticed that hunting those bosses is like having tea with a Jackalope. We eventually ended up on Tatooine and found an instance with a not yet dead WB. The kicker? A party of Empire players were already fighting him. It took us all of half a second to decide to flag up for PVP and attack the boss. We knew what we were doing, it was a dick move, but we also understand what was going to happen as soon as we did it. The Imps watched us for a moment and then ruthlessly annihilated my friend and I, whose mother had just accidentally unplugged his ethernet cable. They then killed the boss and laughed at our corpses. We deserved it, there's no doubt about it, but it cut through that boredom like a hot knife through butter. Even stranger is the fact that, when I think about it, us killing them would have been less satisfying in a way. Has anyone else here done something specifically because they knew they would fail, and thought it would be fun or funny in light of that fact?
  20. Ha, I run a social guild, so we are still cracking SnV HM, though we often just mess around and take almost nothing seriously. We have a really solid tank, though, and I pulled threat on Thrasher 5 attempts in a row, and ended up tossing the group AWAY from the adds, making it difficult to take them down before the turret popped up. Long story short, I'm perhaps the lowest geared DPS in our ops group, but thanks to this guide, I'm more than competitive with the other DPS.
  21. I like a two handed stance as much as the next guy, but the way the Guardian holds it is terrible. Off to the side with the hilt held close to the abdomen is probably one of the most awkward stances I have ever seen. Now, if they held the hilt out and in front of them with the blade angled toward their opponent? That would be a proper stance, not to mention the attack animations wouldn't look so... odd.
  22. I'm sorry, but what is your basis for saying they're cooler?
  23. It's wonderful to see that there are now several recurring events, as it keeps things feeling fresh with less effort that constantly putting out fresh content, of which I am no opposed to having either. However, the time between events seems to be too long in my opinion. Perhaps it would be best, once we have several recurring events, to have them on a rotating schedule with 2 week uptime and 1 week overlap. An example scenario: Week 1: Rakghoul Week2: Rakghoul, Bounty Week3: Bounty, Gree Week4: Gree, [new event] week5: [new event], Rakghoul While this would require additional events, we would still have to wait for an event to come back around, we would have other events to tackle in the meantime. Of course, more events means more downtime for each event, which would bother fewer people if they had other events to pursue in the meantime.
