Stronghold Decoration Suggestions
FeniceNera replied to MDondelinger's topic in Cartel Market Suggestions
I find it strange that nobody asked for the sword in box... -
And their "cloud" services don't implement any sort of backup. I lost ~10h of playtime in watchdogs because I pressed by mistake "New game", and it immediately erased my save, created a new one and when I closed the application it uploaded the new save on the cloud. CS said that the old save game, since it had been overwritten, was lost.

Raptr was just a "social network for gamers". You can track your playtime/achievements, have "friends", post content, have a chat overlay, gives some nice stat like this http://raptr.com/midnightpride/summary/2013, etc... Now it's shipped together with AMD software, and has some "optimization" utilities, but I doubt those are the main focus of its users
-
Mmm... I really don't know. I've been using raptr at least until June 2013 and back then it was still standalone; then I changed laptop and forgot to reinstall it. Few weeks ago I updated my AMD drivers and I got it back, so their partnership is very recent (this blog entry dates 25/09/2013 http://blog.raptr.com/2013/09/25/introducing-the-amd-gaming-evolved-desktop-app-powered-by-raptr/ )

I was just saying that the size of the sample is as important as the "quality" of the sample and I made one example (the first the came in my mind, not based on facts). As other posters pointed out, there are other biases I forgot: for example, raptr now is integrated in AMD software so the statistical sample is enriched of AMD players and there is no guarantee that there wouldn't be any bias towards some particular playstyle. So, even a big sample is useless if the bias is not taken in account (see http://lmgtfy.com/?q=literary+digest+fiasco ) I personally think that raptr data are not too skewed, at least not in a significant way. But that's just my opinion, I don't have data to support it.
-
This is true in the case of "ubiased" sample. If in the choice of the sample there is any bias (let's say "raptr is a very heavy software that runs well only on high end machines") then the statistical results will not be reliable: in my example, the sample is mostly populated by people that have high-end machines, so it wouldn't take in account the games played by people with low end machines. In the case of raptr, the only bias I can find is that the program is used by people who want to track/share their playtime. Probably this population is equally spread across the various games, so it doesn't introduce any bias in the final results.

Levelling a Tank - Compared to DPS?
FeniceNera replied to Red_Eye_Jedi_'s topic in General Discussion

Strategy to the Casino Event! Don't lose your money!

It reminds me when I was a newbie and did while(1) { srand( time(0) ); /* Very quick code with rand() */ } and wondered why I got streaks of the same randomnumber -
Once i asked for it because instead of upgrading my trial account I created by mistake a new account for my subscription -.- Here's the answer: Greetings xxxxx Thank you for contacting us regarding your request to transfer your characters from another account. Rest assured I am here to assist you with this concern. I do apologize however, at this time we cannot assist you with this request because tranferring characters from one account to another is a service that is still not available.

Heroic Mission Spam ... there has to be a better way
FeniceNera replied to Cyberberus's topic in General Discussion
Once, before 2.0, I wanted to to do a random HM, so I joined the group finder queue and waited. After a while, a group popped, we all accepted but nothing happened (no teleport window to the FP instance). Then we looked better and found out that our group was not matched for a FP but for the heroic in section X (Aurora Cannon) All of us had the "heroic" destination checked before joining the GF. That was the only time the GF gave me a planetary destination -
That's what I thought too... but then I can't explain why the Emperor has been quiet before the war (I'm no lore expert, so maybe there is something basic I'm missing)

Hi guys, I have some perplexity about the logic flow of the events involving Revan and the Emperor: 1) Revan got captured, Emperor ravages his mind -> 2) Revan convinces the Emperor that peace is in his best interests -> 3) Few centuries of peace -> 4) Empire comes back (Return trailer) -> 5) War 6) Peace (Emperor works behind the scene to start the ritual) 7) War again I have some perplexity about the transitions 4) , 5) and 6): why the Emperor starts the war (I guess because Revan's influence on him is fading) and then stops it with the treaty?

This was very common (at least for me) while doing the end of Torvix (never did that heroic again after 2.0 )

Lately this forum is reminding me the Mass Effect story forums after the release of Mass Effect 3 and the whole indoctrination theory

Yep, there is no desktop app (it would defeat the purpose of a separate autentication process: if your pc gets infected, the OTP would be infected too) However, you can always download an android emulator for pc:rak_03:

Light & Dark choices are not always simple choices
FeniceNera replied to RocketeerRaccoon's topic in General Discussion
That is in interesting choice, because the morality alignment is inverted in the empire side (if I remind correctly): on the imp side, the "let live" option is the dark side choice -
More precisely, it's "mea culpa", meaning "my fault" in latin.
