  1. As I see it is no different to products that say "don't tamper with this or you will void your warranty" and you tamper with and then try and get refund/repair under warranty. It happens with gaming consoles that people alter, rooting of cellphones etc. etc. So as I see it by exploiting the game you've breached the ToS in the same manner and given up any legal right you had to a refund etc.

Not quite. The word here that bothers me is "tampering".

No one tampered with any part of the game.

Worse, I would see it more like a car builder constructing a faulty car, shutting their mouths about the defaults, and fixing the issue after it goes public.

It makes them liable for what happened / happens in the future.

Or see it like this. I give you the keys to my house and the code for my vault. I tell you how you can open it.

You do so, I go call the cops and have you punished for burglary. I called the cops after I locked the room and reprogrammed my safe codes of course.

BioWare published that there was an exploit on Ravagers last boss, but fixed it only a week later. All while announcing people that used it would get punished.

    Unfair in a way ....

Given it is an error of design, and THEY HAD KNOWLEDGE about it (if not since the beta, it was reported by several people before Christmas and ignored), you would be entitled to a refund.

On top, if they have the data about who did what and gained this and that, they should have acted before.

And....Who got 37 barrels / hilts / enhancements / mods for his toons from GTN lately ? Or bought some Transmatter Substantiators / Exonium for crafting ?

Will those items be revoked if they came from a schem gained through an exploited item ? Cause, a buyer that knows OR COULD HAVE KNOWN an item comes from an illegal action is an accessory to the crime and should be punished as well.

If they go through with punishments, they should punish all. Or they should punish no one that hasn't been spreading / selling the "exploit".

And like people said, lockout sharing is a reality, and it is was happened right here.

Except the boss was already dead -> lockout checkpoint set after the boss instead of before.

So....Lockout sharing is not an exploit, unless the boss is dead ??? Oddest thing ....

For those who talk about legal action : I can prove in several ways that this product is NOT answering to going market standards atm. Under European law I can ask for a full refund of ALL money invested in the product over the last 12 months.

Not answering to market standard : The lag, FPS unacceptably low, and a certain number of bugs reported to BW and unsolved after 5 weeks.....Apart from this bugs in-game for 3 YEARS that have been reported and never solved.

ToS is nice for them, as the company that writes it NEVER will violate it. Since it is a one-sided dictation on what the user has to do. It does NEVER EVER describe the obligations of the author. NEVER.

Hence consumer law and consumer protection will come into play (at least in EU / UK).

  2. I honestly don't get the "I want a refund!" viewpoint. It wasn't a bug that cost people money, or a fault in the game, or even something *wrong* as such- it was just something that for various reasons became deeply unpopular, and led to a changed policy.

I do not agree with this. Sorry, we're not beta-testing but having an early access, which means the game should be as it is when it goes live (with less bugs).

And skill training IS a bug on certain ACs, I got bummed out at lvl 55 on my commando, which cost me 700K straight without even playing a singe minute, making commandos have a HIGHER cost for levelling then any other class. It's 2.1-2.2 million for commandos, and I see a lot of 700K mentioned here.

If it is that steep, write a script that detects what each toon trained, add up all the costs and send it by mail.

Any decent programmer can script that in a day (and I am being gentle).

Hence, the lazy and easy solution, as usual.

  3. Now I just found out that training skills will be free from next week on, and that pre-orders are shafted AGAIN.

No refunds ... SERIOUSLY ? It's technically possible and even easy, so DO IT.

We had to deal with horrible lag, bugged missions, bugged skill training costs (commandos forked in 700K at level 55).

I ask you for a refund on all my toons over 55. It's the least you can do.

This is ridiculous. Maybe the last time I pre-order an expansion, as we always get screwed over one way or another.

Total damage picture : over 6 million over 5 toons, thanks a lot.

This has also been sent to CS. It's simply outrageous to treat the most loyal playerbase like this.

  4. I just want to know what impact this will have on my armor/mods, etc. Clearly we customize our toons for specific classes/trees, so if all of that is being wiped, then where does that leave the gear we already have? Does this mean we're going to have to re-armor and re-mod all of our gear? At level 55, that's an obscenely expensive prospect. As it is if you just need to pull armor and re-add it, you're talking an average of $11K to remove the armor (on 9 pieces of gear), which is about 100K just for the removal...then purchasing the armor pieces (if you are not crafting your own) at an average of about 60 - 80k per single item mod, and then the mods, enhancements, and augments as well? We're talking potentially *millions* of creds to get your toon back in optimum fighting shape.

I'm all for a new system if it's intuitive, but I definitely fear having to re-gear all my toons to handle this new change. Am I the only one that has this worry? lol

Level 60 mate. You'll have to up your existing gear to the new standard ANYWAY. If level cap goes up, be sure a new gear tier is added as well.

On top, they noticed a new tier of craftable gear, so I imagine the crew skill cap will be upped to 500.

Is this good or bad ? Will this kill hybrid builds ?

I can't give a founded opinion up to the moment I can put my hands on it. So I wait to form my opinion after I can wrap my mind around it.

BUT : It is ridiculous to call it shyte from the git-go just because another MMO botched their remodeling up. Will it be botched here ? Maybe, but can't tell for now.

AND : To switch the class / discipline, please add a save template function like asked, makes my life as a tank only so mucch easier ...

  5. A solution to both those problems :

    - Make Group finder one spec only, and not two. In all cases, get rid of the bloody two choice thing. A healer flagged DPS that doesn't heal and have the tank die 5 times in a row and then goes : "Oh, am I the healer ???" is VERY frequent.

So is a DPS specced tank that goes : "Am I supposed to be tanking" after three wipes on a boss...

    - If a Guardian queues as tank, and is in DPS spec, have Group Finder indicate that he can't queue as a tank, since he doesn't run a tank spec at the moment. Force field respec, and have him respec, and queue him as tank afterwards.

    - Or when the person is trying to change the role in GF, indicate that respec is necessary to fill a DPS role if he is running tank spec.

Better yet, make field respecc available to all toons, so GF can enforce a direct respec to fullfill so or so role. this could be done at a fee from the skill trainer, in the same manner as Speeder Piloting, at let's say level 15.
