  1. Thanks god. I've been hearing, and seeing, how EA is greedy and nickel and dimes players. But this would be impossible even for them. Thanks for your post, I'm feeling slightly relieved, even though I hope they switch direction with their F2P model.
  2. I'm also looking for yellow post here. If this is true, even for F2P players (for example a preferred player calls Bioware, and since he's not paying, they charge him/her complimentary cartel coins etc.), I will never ever buy any videogame with EA logo on it. Please someone clarify this, and I honestly hope this was one huge mistake.
  3. Okay I have to bump this topic, because I just had a major bug/exploit or whatever. I went to Section X to pick up my weekly, and it instantly completed itself. And I got BH comms and creds and everything. I was like '*** is this?' Plus I had the same issue like OP last week. Someone please enlighten me.
  4. Haha, funny thing I used to be a so-called ''fanboy'', I followed them with everything they did, I was watching the streams and was so excited for the upcoming content, but I just cannot pretend like nothing is going on. I mean the most iconic holiday in the history, and they sell you stuff instead of gifts, and that stuff is just recolored. Minimal work, and maximum cash. I really don't like that philosophy. I got back to my AoC, it had great improvements to it's F2P model, just like TSW, which used GW2's model. They really should look at them, and see how to keep it's players happy. Also Revan's outfit, really disappointed, it's in gambling bags, and it's bugged too. They should've created Nightmare version of Flashpoints and then added Revan's stuff as very rare drops. But it seems with this direction, CM will be the main priority. And of course every single thing OP mentioned, he hit a nail I must say. I really hope BW reads this and see how their loyal players feel.
  5. You are right I must say LotRO is Pay 2 Win too, you can buy class abilities for PvP without earning PvP levels for them, you can buy stat increases, ingredient packs, now they gave you craft XP to level even faster and then sell you XP disabler at the shop. They have also dumbed down LotRO way too much, just for the sake of more money and convenience. They are actually selling writs to get you back to quest giver instantly. However it seems TOR is going even the worse direction atm, and I really, really hope this changes.
  6. I am sad to say I completely agree with the OP. I really love this game, played it even before f2p, was excited for upcoming expansions and new races/classes etc. But the OP post is the sad truth of what this game had become. Ever since 1.5, they've been gouging their players, and not worrying about the game at all, not to mention no new class stories, the most important part of this game. Charging for holiday items is beyond ridiculous. I actually play other MMO's too, as f2p, like AoC, and used to play LotRO and WoW, and all of them have free holidays and rewards with them. And that F2P preview episode, it seems they're proud of what they're doing. I really miss the Docs, Alexander Freed, Daniel, and others who left. Ohlen is nowhere to be found as well. Before F2P this game had a direction, and great future ahead, but now I really lost my faith. Once my sub runs out I'll still play casually as preferred, and hope for the better. I will resub if I see the game change dramatically, and F2P restrictions loosened, they're way too harsh. I used to be a Biodrone, an avid supporter of BW/EA, but these recent events really opened my eyes. Not to mention waiting 35 days to receive my Cartel Coins, and waiting 2 weeks for Customer Service reply, which if you're not sub you don't get. Really disappointed. Plus there is no way that I can even buy Makeb, my country doesn't support Paypal and I don't have a credit card. I was thinking to save up some CC for it, but it seems that's not even an option, and btw even LotRO allows subs to save up the store coins, and F2P people can earn them in-game. So all in all, I really wish this game to change for the better and I'll be watching it closely.
  7. Simply press the Esc button or reset the mission, works for me any time.
  8. No the other poster got it wrong. It doesn't unlock for all character automatically. Before this patch, when you complete the mission series, both Legacy perks (for Imps and Reps) were locked, and people could buy both for no reason, since HK was unlocked for that character. After this patch, the perk will be unlocked, but only for that character. So on each character you complete the missions, you'll get the perk. I believe they did this to prevent confusion into people buying perks for no reason, since they already completed the mission series on that specific character.
  9. Lots of great feedback and questions in this topic, but I'd like to add one thing: A couple of months ago, one of the devs said that they're planning to add mentoring system in SWTOR (a.k.a. down-leveling to the lower level areas you visit) 'at some point in the future', to help friends and keep the content still on level. Any news on that, will it be coming to SWTOR soon?
  10. Thanks for the news. So we'll have purchasable character slots and credit limit soon! Great, like the author of the topic said, if we had an option to remove the credit cap, the game would truly be F2P, as you can buy Cartel Market off the GTN. Looking forward to it!
  11. I also used Game Time Card and I also got 0 cartel coins. A lot of people have my issue, and I really hope BW fixes this asap. It's been 5 days already.
  12. I completely agree, I love this flexibility BW added. It's a great way for people who can't afford to buy Cartel Coins, and great gifts for friends, and it also won't unbalance the economy since player credits just switch hands. GJ on this one BW! I'm also buying unlocks and authorizations from GTN myself. And like you said everyone's happy, BW gets money, seller gets credits and I get Cartel Market item without spending a dime.
  13. I agree! I'm so sick of reading people posting ''I'm a paying customer! F U F2P freeloaders!!'' etc. types of posts. They really need to show respect for all kinds of players. Even f2p player can spend money on unlocks and CC shop stuff. And also, I'm sick of people using terms ''customer'', ''product'', ''business'' etc. I know that video game development is a business, but we are players, and SWTOR is a video game. All in all, nice to see a positive thread! Keep it up!
  14. Hah I just created a topic in general about leveling. I agree, but those XP boosts allow different playstyle. I'm glad BW went this way than Blizzard's way who constantly nerfed XP required, and nowadays you steamroll to 90 in 3 days. I wished there was an XP disabler, that would suit a lot of people. They could put WZ twinks in seperate queue. And I played about 2-5 hours a day for weeks, sometimes even more, and my trooper is level 42 for now. I have a total of 7 played days for now and not even reached level cap, since I enjoy slow leveling.
  15. Yeah that's why I edited my post and said not everyone. But SWTOR's FB page is full of trolls like I mentioned and it's actually getting dull, so I stopped reading FB comments And as for companions, no they're not meant to replace human interaction. It's BW's thing, many of their RPG's have them and it's their standard. They're there due to the story, as a major part of it actually. They add to the immersion and excitement. And they help you when you need it.
  16. Thanks for the replies everyone, you really make some good points. And I agree that missions tend to get repetitive after 3+ times. So like I said there are FPs. WZs heroics etc. But I'm also glad there are many XP boosts for those people leveling all those characters and getting bored so they can speed up their leveling. That's a good thing about this game, choices how you want to play. And as for WoW, it indeed changed everything a lot. And it keeps getting dumbed down every day. For example in latest patch you can solo all pre-MoP raids. Everything is watered down, and it has indeed attracted non gamers to it too. I'm just glad BW hasn't gone WoW's direction, to dumb the game down, but instead made it accessible and user-friendly while still being fun for hardcores and casuals alike. And also the thing that bothers me the most is that then those people who rush complain that there is no content (not everyone of course). The game is weak, it sucks... Those kind of comments suck, not the game.
  17. Well that's why there are XP boosts for. But I just didn't get it when people say faster leveling is much better than slower. What is fun in outleveling content? Nothing. As for being dull, that's why you have tons of different activities to level up with, not just world quests.
  18. Thanks for your replies and insights everyone! Good point. But I just think that if their enjoyment is solely reaching the level cap in 3 days and nothing else, this game isn't for them. And I agree you can set up your own difficulty. You can choose your own gear, stats, abilities, you can dismiss your companion etc. Most mobs have various abilities, and unlike WoW, in SWTOR your really learn your class while leveling. Also I know not everyone is a RP, but this is a story driven MMO with a great IP. And as for those companion boosts in presence, I was concerned about that myself. I even made a topic about it before. But I found out that even those 500 presence don't make that much difference late game, only early till like level 15 or so, where you can solo the content anyway, without a companion. EDIT: And to add to the last post, well I explained it above in this post As for solo PvE, I can't count how many times I've died and I'm only level 42. I mostly dismissed my companions, but even with them I tend to die, and quite often to elites. After level 30 even normal mobs are tough. And as for death penalty, it's actually great. You get a repair bill and you get to choose similar to single player games, if you want to load the last saved game (medical probes) or go to the checkpoint (medstation). Very similar to BW's single player RPGs.
  19. Okay, I need to get something off my chest. This has been bothering me since I started playing the trial for the first time. First of all this is a story based game, and a game that any RP'er dreams about, great story, great music, ambient, planets, IP everything. And yet I constantly see people wanting to get to the level cap as fast as possible, wanting all XP boosts, wanting to constantly level faster, to get as much XP they can asap. Why is that? Why do people like that play this game? WoW is designed for those people, you get steamrolled to level cap in 3 days, and skip half of zones. I really love doing all datacrons, missions, bonus missions, bonus series, flashpoints, everything. I know everyone has their own playstyle, but if they don't like leveling and story, this game isn't for them. And another thing, I've also read quite a lot that this game is too easy. And imo, it's far from it. It's actually quite challenging, especially heroics. Even normal missions are challenging, enemies come in groups, and in various difficulties. Every planet has a World Boss. Getting datacrons themselves is challenging, I love those puzzles. So all in all, I really don't understand these 2 things. In short, this game is far from easy, it's just casual/user-friendly and convenient, but not easy. And I don't get people wanting to rush asap to the level cap.
  20. No the XP for subs hasn't increased, while I was doing missions I got the same XP as before. Stop asking for it, not everyone wants it. I love slower leveling and doing all the content. If you want to level faster buy legacy and cartel xp boosts, and stack rested xp. And leave me out of it. When they said increased XP that ment f2p has slower, and subs have the same like before. And btw that 40k XP from WZ, and that ''last night 70k XP'' was a bug. They fixed it today. God I hate some people only thinking about themselves, reminds me of WoW and why I quit that dumbed down game. I hope SWTOR doesn't turn up like it.
  21. And I'd also like to add, can someone confirm if this is just for subs or for f2p'ers also?
  22. While it may be pleasant so you don't need to grind credits anymore, it will cause inflation and destroy the economy. Now people can buy everything with CC that required credits, mod extraction reduced, free respecializations, nearly free licenses. It will cause people to stack not millions but billion of credits with nothing to spend it on. Like one topic on the forums said, ''Goodbye economy we hardly knew ya''.
  23. Just checked on my alt, it costs 270 credits for rank 1, around 8000 for rank 2 and 150k for rank 3. Wow, this doesn't even make sense. So they reduced the price for subscribers it seems, rather than increase for f2p. We will need some major credit sinks, or there will be a major inflation like in WoW. And then they added stupid Black Market Auction House which sells rare mounts and pets and gear you obdain from raids etc. Lame, and encourages gold farming. I hope BW gets to their senses and doesn't repeat this mistake Blizzard made.
  24. I dunno if this is intended, but when I went to my trainer on Belsavis with my level 42 trooper, I paid around 8000 credits for rank 2 speeder piloting, and now I have rank 3 available and it costs 150k credits? Are these prices working as intended, it used to be 150k for rank 2 and 220k for rank 3?
  25. I haven't exactly checked the test server, but i was watching a couple of videos, and as far as I saw, if you use Cartel Coins, you won't need legacy levels, only if you use credits.
