  1. I have never come across an expansion where everyone takes a nerf at the start just so you can level to be right back where you left off. It's a bit odd in a progression based game. No one runs a race just so that right at the end, you're told to go back to the halfway mark and start again.

Agreed. Which is why I said, at the end of the day, folks will make their own decision.

  2. gear stats will increase

the gear isnt being reduced, your abilities are...and skill trees.

you really seem to have a tough time with specifics, dont you. you read one thing and tear off on a tangent of assumptions.

Your passive-aggressive comments aside, there is no assumption when straight out of the Devs mouth they tell us how top-end gear at 60 will do the same damage as top-end gear now.

  3. As long as TTK has not been affected to the point where enrage timers or mechanic timers are no longer achievable... then it doesn't matter.

Well....you're talking OPs whereas I was talking leveling, et.al. Having said that, I am concerned when the two talk about "baselines" insofar as DPS. This may seem minor, but the term they should've used was "ceiling". Baseline refers to the lowest DPS, the problem is players exceeding the threshold / ceiling of what the devs thought possible. May seem minor, but words have meaning. (ask any lawyer) And if you don't understand the difference between baseline and ceiling, that raises an eyebrow.

If this entire debacle, er I mean discussion, is about keeping DF / DP relevant (hence why I told another poster beware how far down the Rabbit hole you want to go) then that's another discussion. At the end of the day, if all the leveling and griding etc. to achieve gear was simply a waste of time, because in five levels, after MORE grinding, I'm right back where I am now, then...well I suppose each individual has to make a choice.

  4. Do as I did. Watch the Twitch stream. Then tell me how, at the 3:00 mark when they say, "A 60 in 198 will be doing the same damage as a 55 in 186" that it's about "ratios".

And before you tell me to FF to 4:00 when they talk about the "slog", realize the cutoff for reducing MOB health was * 50 *.

  5. I can see how you might view that as a nerf to gear, but its actually a nerf to how well the stats on gear scale with level. While they are related, they are completely different variables in the equation for calculating damage output. It really only matters though to the people who actually do the math involved in theorycrafting.

No, it's a nerf to damage. (Gear and raw numbers I don't care about). I don't know how much clearer they can be that that is what is being done. To "balance" the situation, from 1-50 should be easier. Emphasis on should be. But if a 60 in 198 is doing the same as a current 55 in 186, that's not a nerf to "stats", that's a nerf to damage output.

  6. Took a guild survey:

Sith Jugg - the one LS said it made the story seem 'odd'. Next Marauder he made was Dark. Resident guild Marauder is DS.

Sith Sorcs / Assassins - Dark. Oh so dark. Each and every one.

Bounty Hunter - Pretty much dark, think they mellowed as the story progressed.

IA - Let's just say this one led to much "discussion". Where "discussion" is code for: swearing, bad typing and much yelling in vent.

EDIT: We have a couple (might be RL not sure) who won't do particular quests. The Marauder has an affinity for short species: Ewoks, Ortolans, Jawas. Hence he did not do the Jawa Shaman quest on Tattooine.

  7. the gear is not being nerfed

Absolutely not true. They (the two pasty faces in the video) that "A character at level 60 with 198 gear will do the same DPS as a 55 now in 186".

/\ That's not speculation - even those who argued that the MOBs are being made easier to kill (at least from 1-50) agree that is true.

Somebody, many pages ago and even more recently said it best, "This DPS nerf is to keep DF / DP relevant."

  8. Three factions worked in DAOC. Was fun. EQ did multiple factions well also. (Fansy!) WoW, not so much and here the same. For there to be three factions a lot of the depth of story would have to be removed. (Or a significant change to the SWTOR "universe").
  9. This is what you said:

Your Makeb greens will suffice (assuming you also have your companion in Makeb greens and the left-hand side of your character sheet up-to-date). You may, however, want to make use of Heroic Moment and maybe team up with someone else, which will make things much easier. When in doubt, you can also use planetary comms to buy 140 mods at the Makeb vendor. Also consider getting a 156 mainhand weapon for 85 Basic Commendations after reaching Hero reputation with Makeb.

Buying 140 mods at 55 is wasteful and 5 levels behind the power curve. (since they can be purchased at level 50 as outliined in the guide)

Using basic comms for a 156 MH is also wasteful since they are better spent on a 180 MH (via Isotope-5). (also outlined in the guide)

Nothing gets by you does it?

The guide scales. (Specifically when dealing with Relics) It's not about Makeb or CZ, or Oricon, it's about gear. Unless 78 gear is also outdated? And considering the crap I see people wearing while trying to complete quests - it's more than applicable. Why do you think the parent company added a Bolster to Makeb?

Finally, you do realize 53 crafted is 150+ gear right? Or the equivalent of the rewards you get from completing Oricon quests.

Don't wait until 55 to gear for 55. Need to think about three milestones: Level 50, 53 and 55. With most classes (DPS especially), upgrading your barrel / hilt should be priority # 1.

    1) Here are some goals to set:

    a) PvP comms: 1400 regular commendations, 2600 ranked. (Don't spend until 55)

    b) Planetary comms: As close to 100 as possible for when you hit level 50

    c) Basic Comms: 175 minimum (Do not spend until 55)

    d) Classic Comms: If you can accumulate some - great - but not a priority (unless you like the look). Be advised there is a set bonus difference between classic gear and Arkanian.

    2) You hit 50, now what?

    a) Remember in 1)b) we talked about Planetary comms? Now's the time to go spend them at the Makeb planetary vendor (located on fleet)

    b) (level 50) Flash points. You want to start doing these in order to accumulate 175 Basic comms

    c) Any and all raids that you can join. EV (SM/HM), KP (SM/HM) Most groups will let you need to your heart's content.

    3) You hit 53, now what?

    a) Now you can upgrade to (66) crafted to include barrel / hilt. This will be a significant power and HP boost from your old gear. Get as much (66) as you can.

    b) Continue to raid as per 2) c).

    3) Check GTN for (66) Blue gear (esp. Earpiece and Implants)

    4) You just hit 55, now what?

    a) Take the PvP comms to the PvP vendor. You are looking (first) for Conqueror relics (700 regular comms each), then upgrade at the vendor right next door for 1 Conqueror Relic and 1300 ranked comms. (Currently these are BIS in game (12/31/2013)

    b) Take your basic comms and purchase five (5) Isotope-5 "tubes". (They look like a test tube filled with Mt Dew). Get in on a SM TFB or SM S & V. Completing either for the first time rewards you with Mass Manipulation Generator. You will need five Isotope-5s', one MMG and some minor items for a (72) Hilt / Barrel.

At this point you should be in all (66) crafted (minimum) with the exception of your MH (72) and relics (78 equiv). If you have the credits, check the GTN for Ear and Implants (54-55). Often they are sold very cheap (20k)

Continue to raid. While it is up to you, I recommend your first purchase with Ultimates (78) is your OH. (esp Marauder and BH).

  12. WARNING - LANGUAGE

    *********************

    Roleplayers.

The Quon doesn't get it. The Quon doesn't want to. And let's be real. The Quon doesn't have to and neither do you.

The Quon has had to endure a certain level of contact with Roleplayers over the levels. He see's it as a necessary evil. Along the way to god-hood, a little give and take is sometimes required to keep the wheels of xp greased. We've all had run-ins with that punk *** Druid who won't kill animals no matter how sweet the xp. Or that ****tard who won't kill his own race. Weak. At first The Quon tried to educate these dingleberries about the whackness inherent in their logic. "Dude, this Orc hasn't ever seen your lands, he don't know you ruined them and besides that, **** him". But eventually The Quon put his blinders on and went about the business of level lapping these self-handicapped freaks 10 times over. Cause that's how you can identify "most" of the roleplayers, they're level 35...for-***********-ever. They've got 8 character, all level 15 to 35. The Quon wants to know the point.

But now that he's the MC The Quon won't tolerate these ********s.

So when The Quon found himself in PoJ cell group last night with an MA who obviously juggled turds as a side job at the Renaissance Fair, he knew it was on. Everything was going just fine for the most part. Respects had been paid, rules were being observed and ****. We were chugging through the xp at a decent pace.

The tank comes back empty handed on a pull and I'm all like "***?". And the rest of the group's looking at The Quon just waiting to back his play. The tank says, "Nothing down there to pull. Just humanoids". And The Quon is all like, "You better pull that ****! The Quon needs RUN3 tonight so he can leave all the newbs behind and hit PoV." And the Shammy's all like "Newbs?", like he was offended or something. The Quon squashed that **** with a quickness though, "You heard me mothaphucka...do something." And he was all quiet after that. Respect.

So get this, the tank actually stops looking for mobs and comes back to the camp, stands in front of me and starts teaching like he's a professor or something. "I'm a Humanoid, we're all humanoids. It would be a slap in the face of our gods to kill others like us. There's plenty of other mobs here to chose from without offending our dieties."

After a minute to stop giggling, cause The Quon SO knows what the future holds, The Quon says, "You don't do certain things you don't want to do, then blame it on the will of your god and everything's cool? Nice deal. Good to know." And this guy seems all pleased and **** like he blew The Quon's mind or something.

So we continue on for a bit and all seems forgotten.

On the next pull, The Quon watches as this door-knobs health went down faster than a Wood Elf Honie looking for a Rez in The Quons pocket. ("It's down there baby...keep looking"). I enjoy this because I knows what's coming. "HEAL". The Quon, of course, does not. What I do though is call out "The Big Heal Bomb is Inc on Warrior. But I never cast that ****. Instead The Quon loads gate and once I'm sure the Warrior is gonna take a dirt nap I say "I think you're a ****-wit. I don't wanna heal you and Tunare says she's with me on it. Roleplayers should shampoo my crotch. Peace out".

    And I'm gone.
