I don't do that exactly but I do play the music from a new hope on spotify and to my delight, when I do, the bar at the bottom turns into a lightsaber. as to the other post, I believe star wars be the monomyth of the hero with a thousand faces so really, it could have been influenced by any one of thousands of stories. That being said yes, no one expected it to be the huge hit it was at the time, and probably one of the reasons for that was because it was such a familiar story.

Thanks for all the replies. interesting to get everyone's take. I'm hoping some previous blizzard players would give swtor a chance and grow the community. I agree that FF14 is probably first on most people's radar but while the graphics are impressive it didn't look that interesting to me personally. I also looked at new world but that looked even less interesting. so it's all swtor for me. still hoping for a wave of new players.

Respectfully speaking, With all the things surrounding blizzard right now including lawsuits and also disappointment in recent expansions, I'm wondering if we have any newcomers from wow. I haven't played swtor in years and I wasn't playing wow but I was playing hearthstone and I just don't think I can give blizzard any more money. Not trying to start a controversial thread just curious how everything as of late is affecting the gaming community and if swtor is going to see an influx of new gamers. I know one thing i particularly like about swtor is that it is very story-based. it didn't seem like wow had that covered.

Hi all, I wound up with an inheritance main hand weapon construction kit but when I took it to the weapons vendor on Coruscant nothing happened. what are we supposed to do with these? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

It seems that one of my characters auto target is out of wack. I will be fighting with one group of enemies and it will auto target one from another group. Is there any way to disable this? Any help is appreciated.

I agree that if she is not into it, she is just not into it and that's ok. However: Communication is key in any relationship. As generic as it sounds, it is true. I think your best shot at getting star wars to spark her interest is to have a discussion about it. You could start by asking her what movies are important to her and ask her why they are important. (be sure to actually listen) Then follow up with telling her why you are into star wars so much and what it means to you. Did it bring a message of hope to you in a dark time? Was it the value of reconciliation and redemption? Did it convey a deep connection to a force larger than yourself? Express whatever it is you feel when you watch the movies and see if maybe she gets it and is willing to try to see for herself the value you see in it. Good luck, I hope it works out for you.

FYI: I thought your suggestion of the older republic was such a great idea that I did a search for it and came up with a 30+ guild that has recently been recruiting. I just posted to their thread in the shadowlands forum.

Are you still recruiting? I have been looking for an active older guild. Looks like some of the peeps in the other threads I have recently posted to are as well. The older republic is on the shadowlands? If so, that is perfect for me because that is exactly where all my characters but one are. Is the older Empire on the shadowlands too? I am a bit new to mmo's and still have to ask many questions but I think I am finding my feet pretty well. Hopefully my questions will not evoke too many eye rolls. I'm learning. I am generally on at least a few times per week. Let me know if you are still looking for members.

41 over here and currently working in HR for a small social service agency. I would be interested in joining an 18+ guild or one for middle aged peeps if anyone is still recruiting for one or the other.

I don't fall into the 45+ category yet at just over 40 so I might not be your target audience with this post, but I felt I had to reply to this because I am so glad you posted it. It has crossed my mind that since I am over 30, I might be too old to be MMORPGing. I will have to check out the thread you referenced. I just started actually playing a few months ago and I noticed that there are many many things that the kids know immediately off the top of their heads which I have to eventually discover through trial and error or ask about. I am so glad to know that there are other older players on swtor and I know there is a spot for all of us here too. This post just reinforces it.

Sorry for this in advance but here comes a cache of newb questions. I am new to this game as well as MMORPG in general. I've only been at it a month or so. That being said, I am having a really good time with swtor and most players have been pretty willing to be helpful and tolerant of me and my "How in the galaxy does this work?" type of questions. Here come a few more: 1.) How does Role Playing work in this game? I am interested in getting into the RP aspect but On the PvE RP server most people seem to be OOC. (at least in the general chat the few times I have been on it). 2.) I see there is a play by post section in the forums which is interesting, I thought most of it would be in game. I like that kind of style because there is background involved and not all just dialogue. I used to play a RPG play by post game on yahoo groups and enjoyed it quite a bit. How does this play by post interact with in-game play or is it totally separate? 3.) Should I post a character bio and should I do this for in-game also? 4.) Do people just jump in on the play by post thread or do we ask for an invite, or should I wait till a new thread is posted looking for signups? 5.) Do people use the in-game email for RP? I haven't really found anything in the new player resources that addresses these questions. I'm really kind of lost here. RP is something I'd like to incorporate into my play but this is a new world to me. I think that covers the core of my many questions for now. If anyone wants to lay it out for me or offer up some advise, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Hi I'm also new and I have been enjoying this game a lot. My highest character is only up to level 16 but like you I have gotten to this point on my own. I have been invited to join groups but since I am entirely new to MMO I have opted to decline until I find my way around and can at least pretend I know what I am doing. I am interested in guilds only I guess the guild members would have to understand that I am a complete noob. I wonder what others feel about guilds and what the interaction of the memebers within is like so I will be following this thread. . Best to you.
